Hello all!
I received my Desire HD last thursday. It's a nice phone, but I have a little problem. Last saturday, I was watching a youtube movie. It worked well, but when I tried to close the youtube app, it freezed. It didn't respond to anything, so I removed the battery. After that, I tried booting it, but this time it freezed at the HTC logo. I waited a full 30 minutes, before removing the battery again. After that, it wouldn't boot at all.
Any suggestions I can try before returning it to the store?
Patrick
The issue with the youtube hanging has been reported by multiple people, on the Desire HD and G2. Appears to hang when you press the back key on video in landscape mode.
I have also had the hanging and removing and re-inserting battery has worked for me. You could try going into the bootloader and doing a clear storage (i.e. system reset) from there?
To enter bootloader try:
Power Down
Power on holding Volume Down
Hi,
I have tried that already, with no success.. The screen stays black. Also the red light stays on even when not charging.
Patrick
Remove and re -insert the battery, let the phone start up again. Uninstall the youtube update.

I was playing NFS Underground on my Nexus 7 (Running Paul O'Briens MCR) and I have started having a weird problem with it.
I was playing away (at work) and someone came in the door, so I switched the screen off, after that it wouldn't respond to me pressing the power button to turn it back on. (I was using Gesture Control to hide the Nav Bar also)
So I held the Power Button to Hard Reset it, and it still wouldn't come back to life, so I thought I should plug it into the wall to give it a charge, then try again! When I picked it up 10 minutes later there was a weird vertical static on the screen (a bunch of white dots on black background), and again it wouldn't respond to any input.
From there I have tried to Wipe Dalvik & Cache and reboot (same happens), I tried to backup my ROM and flash a fresh one, the same thing happens in the middle of a backup.
I have managed to start it a few times (and it has now managed to process all the apps after the Dalvik wipe), but as soon as it boots, it just re-starts?
Anyone have any ideas how I can get it up and running again?
Also one thing I have noticed (this may be related to an updated Bootloader) whenever I plug my Tablet into the Wall, it turns on automatically! It definitely never used to do that!!
This is driving me mad!!!
Cheers
Stewart
EDIT - I seem to be able to put it in bootloader mode without it turning itself off!
Going to try flashing back to stock!
Quick question, can I pull a file from my SDCARD partition using my Mac while in bootloader?
Moral of the story, don't play games at work :/
But on a helpful note to you, yes you can pull a file.
If it doesn't boot, I'd get TWRP and the mount it whilst in recovery mode.
From there you can push/pull files
So my phone was constantly rebooting for about an hour until i removed the SD Card after a hard reboot (Power + Volume Up). A normal Hard Reset did nothing. This has happened several times before, but the problem went away, this time I had to remove the SD Card apparently. I use Apex for my homescreen if that helps at all. I don't use a custom ROM, everything is stock.
Sometimes when it reboots it will instantly go to the DROID boot animation, sometimes no audio would play and it would lag at first for a second, then suddenly it will play the animation at lightning fast speeds.
Another issue is at first, for about a minute or so, I CANNOT lock the screen. I can hold the power button down to get to the power off menu, but not lock it.
Again, The problem has stopped, but it WILL return. I was wondering if anyone can help solve this?
P.S. I'm on Verizon
Hey guys
My edge has frozen 3 times already to the point I have to reboot holding the 3 buttons.
Anyone else have this issue?

My screen went black, had to hold the volume down and power until it rebooted. I've only had this phone for 4 hours.
Nope guys, mine running like a dream and I'm Def a power user. I'd try a couple back to back factory resets.if you still have issues, take it back.

Got the same issue. And factory reseting didn't do anything. I also tried to reset using the 3 buttons but it just says downloading for more than an hour! I really don't want to send it back and go trough the whole hassle. I just want a fix. I got this phone yesterday and I can't enjoy it... it only freezes when on standby for some time. The only way I can get it to work is by using the 3 buttons just like they guy above...

The downloading screen is just a bootloader screen for flashing rom while odin. If you isn't flashing rom, you don't need to wait for it since the phone is doing nothing.
Got a reboot once on PAW FW. Nothing after.
Yep had one yesterday after using bbc iplayer, tried to go back into iplayer from multitasking and it froze then went black . .used the volume and power for 7 secs and everything came back on . .
Hoping this is just software. .
Mine is UK version and got it on the 8th . .
Read that the S6 had similar problems
Anyone have a fix for this or do I need to take it back to Verizon? I'm in the US and have the same issue. It has happened to me multiple times.
I get automatic reboots as well as full screen lockup for 7-10 minutes where it reboots itself. Both seem to occur when I'm trying to do something immediately after doing something else. Examples are when I hit send on a text/tweet and then pull down the task bar while it's in the process of sending the text/tweet or when rotating screen to look at a picture in landscape mode in Facebook and immediately tapping the center of the screen to get rid of the text on the screen.
This has now happened every day I've had the phone (Friday, Saturday, and now Sunday). It's getting quite old. Any help would be appreciated before I take my phone back to Verizon tomorrow.
I haven't had any freezing, but I did have my first random reboot after 4 days of ownership while listening to music with it plugged into an aux cable..

Same.
i experienced the same issue, freezing up, i reset my phone and someone told to me to install an optimizer to help my phone by freezing up
I got the phone for 2 weeks now, yesterday my volume down and power button is unresponsive, press the power button for a few seconds but it wont respond. I have to hold volume and power buttons and press until a few more seconds and ir restarts, after rebooting it works ok.
Anyone have an update to this thread? Has anyone gotten a fix for this? Or should I just send my phone back and get another? Thanks for any help.
Just had another freeze and shutdown . .doesn't reboot but requires me too use power on and volume keys for 7 seconds to restart phone. .really hope its a software problem ..seems to happen on multi tasking
same for Galaxy S6
i have the Galaxy S6 and i have the same probleme, my phone keep freezing and some time rebooting, i try the safe more but still freezing, i delete the new installed app with no luck.
some other wesite say this is an apps crash that make the phone freezing, but i don't know.
Don't worry, Samsung will fix this with an update. Only had 1 reboot and it was on PAW fw.. now that I'm on pb4 it haven't happened once.
I have a verizon S7 edge, and have had multiple reboots on the phone, with no consistent pattern. It has done it while sitting on the bed untouched/unused. It remounts the SD card every time this happens. I'm really stunned there is no word from Samsung about this issue
I have had the same issue. I worked with a Samsung support member who was helpful in attempting to troubleshoot and log the issue. I ran my phone in safe mode for a few hours in hopes that it may have been an app I downloaded causing the freezing issue but unfortunately the phone froze again while in safe mode. According to Samsung, my next step is to go to a Samsung Experience shop in a Best Buy and have them do a software flash. I'm heading there today and if its successful I'll be sure to post about it.
samsung s7 edge freezing
i have a samsung galaxy edge 7 and it just froze on me too the screen froze and non of the buttons worked for the rest either so i popped the sim card n it unfroze.
Hey, this is software problem. Dont take it back phones. Maybe chrome, messenger freeze phone. Just send feedback Samsung. Samsung will fix this with update. Its not phone problem. Easy guys...
I applied the 4core fix for my N6P back in September of last year, and stopped using it around December because of the battery life. Around July/August I purchased a battery and installed it and things were going well. Now my phone is freezing and booting to the Google Logo and... Crash again. No Nexus animation; Google, crash. Sometimes it will attempt to boot and bootloop and sometimes it turns on and works fine. Sometimes if it turns back on it freezes and boom. Google logo.
I guess the remaining 4 cores in this phone are done completely from the looks of it? I know the patch wasn't meant to be permanen, only temporary because the remaining 4cores would eventually die.

My 6p also started bootlooping again today and this time fix didn't help me. I think it's gone for good.

Is yours booting to the Google logo and crashing? Or simply bootlooping? Mine goes to the logo, crashes about 10-15 times and then eventually attempts to boot.
It's a shame, got a baby on the way and simply can't afford another phone right now

Displays Google logo about 20-30 sec and restarts. Before I could see the animation but this time no luck.
Congratulations! I also have a newborn, we'll see what the future holds

Thank you You too! Day of Thanksgiving he is supposed to get here, but my wife isn't doing too well lol do you know of any way for us to pull data? Adb is failing to see my device when it's in the bootloader, fastboot is working though. I tried once more to flash twrp 4 core and boot it with no luck. Those small cores gave out I guess. I left my phone on overnight bootlooping with no luck. I got most things off, just my actual camera fder I couldn't get and apps which aren't a huge deal.
Sadly this morning I had the same problem. Bootlooping, I even cannot enter into Recovery. Then, suddently, it restarted, but I wasn't home, so I hadn't the chance to save the data. Then, about 3 hours later, it restarted bootlooping and, since then, it's stucked into this bootloop. Even reflashing the modified boot won't work.
Anybody knows how to at least recover the data inside? Even if I have to break the phone (I'm going to buy onther one soon)
hey guys, me too. but you know something? my initial assessment was that it was a result of an update. Now looking here annd seeing so many others with the same problem at the SAME TIME?? mine happened out of the blue on about October 4th or 5th. Ive had this phone for two years and never had aproblem with it at all. right out of the blue (in the morning) i get the bootloop. I cleared the cache and it booted up again. it was just fine for two days and now it is down black and out. When i push the power button i get a red light. one blink. if i hold down pwr and vol i get 8 blinks. tried on stock charger and other charger. like was previously mentioned when i tried it on a different charger it worked. the first time. now its dead. any solutions?

It simply means that the battery is fully discharged. Keep it connected to the current and maybe it restarts working.
I'm in the same situation since yesterday, hoping that at some point it returns working for some time, just to backup some data. I have like 10GB of photos not backupped in it.
When I replaced my battery I reinstalled factory. Start from scratch.
I had the same issue and that's all I did. Booted fine after that. I used the ifixit battery tho, cause if you got a lower cost one it could be the battery itself too
Yesterday I pulled out my 6t to snap a pic of my daughter in her pilgrim outfit for her school play and as soon as the camera app opened the phone froze. For about 30 minutes I tried anything i could think of to try to get it to respond in any way including holding different combinations of the power and volume buttons, plugging and unplugging from charger (and Pc) sending find my device and secure device commands through my pc browser all to no avail. Finally after more than a half hour the screen turned off and i attempted again to get a response by pushing the power button, nothing happened immediately but it did eventually light back up and I immediately rebooted and it was working fine again. Cut to this morning same situation, pulled it out to get a quick pic of my kids and it froze again. This time there was no response from it at all until the battery was depleted and it shut down. Luckily it only had about 20%. The only mods so far are the bootloader is unlocked and its rooted with Magisk and the only root apps on it are V4A and TiBu and i haven't even run titanium yet. I'm just wondering if anyone else has come across this issue also or looking for ideas on what to troubleshoot. From my understanding the pixel 3 camera app is working on our OP6Ts. Can anyone who has used it lmk how well its working so far? I'm not averse to ditching the stock camera for it, I just don't wanna trade one bad experience for another. Thanks in advance for any suggestions.
Happens randomly for many people. There a some threads on XDA already. Happened to me once so far.
You can restart your phone pressing Power + VolumeUp for a few seconds if it happens again.
Yeah I had tried power+ vol up with no results. I did finally figure out that power+vol up+vol down will force a shut down. I also snagged the pixel camera and it does it too. Thanks for the reply.
