Today i was messing around and i removed the sd card from my phone. after i put it back in and started the phone it said my sd card was corrupted.
im just wondering how this is possible. in order to remove the sd card i had to take the battery out first, obviously. so the phone couldnt have been reading from or writing to the sd card when it was removed, because the phone was off with no battery in it. wtf, how is this possible? i seem to remember removing the sd card in such a manner in the past without this problem. whats going on here?
not only that but when i try to format it from the phone nothing happens.
any help or insight would be very much appreciated.

Wait, so let me get this straight...
Obviously... as you stated, the storage card wasn't being read by your device prior to your decision to format it, correct?
So, why the unnecessary formatting then...? Be sure that your SD CARD is able to be detected on a desktop PC or laptop. If so, check the SD CARD original format. Make sure it's FAT32. And did you format your card via Apple or a standard PC?
It was working fine on my previous phone. It had few stuff on it so I decided to format it. Then after the format HD2 won't read it. When I plug in the phone it to the computer it would usually read the media card, but in this case it doesn't.
Ok I happened to figure it out. I end up doing a format on the phone and that brought my SD card back to life.
stop reading my sd card
I am too facing the same problem, I have installed the total commander on my sd card and all of a sudden my card top reading.i restart the system and then got the message to format the card in order to read it. i did but still card was not reading. i inserted the card in my pc but still the card was not reading. i bring my hd2 to factory settings and then also not reading the card. then i again format the card but of no use. any help from anyone.

SD cards are notorious for being "wiped" by mishandling them. If I had a dollar for every SD card I lost because I removed it from a PC without ejecting it first, I'd have enough for a Happy Meal at least.
It looks like your install of Total Commander wiped your card. If you have a way of testing it, check to see if it says "0b available". If so, it's junk.
These cards allow unlimited reads, but only about 1,000 writes to a block. They purposefully design them to hide blocks until one goes bad, then a new one comes up, but that is a limited "fix". Not sure I understand it all myself.
This is one reason why it is a bad idea to install a program to the SD card. As the program runs, it may write runtime data to the card, things like logs and such, this reduces the lifetime of the card drastically.
Is there any known fix for this? I've been searching over the forums, but no definitive answer. It was working before, it had some sync program installed on it?? (it came with it when i bought it).
I reformat the card and now it doesn't show up on the phone. I'm trying to get in contact with the original owner and hopefully he has a fix.

When you say you reformatted the card, what was the method you used?
What file system did you use when you formatted the card?
What size card is it?
Did you add any partitions to the card?
Can you add/remove files from the card when you have it plugged into a Windows PC?
Can you "see" the card when you have it inserted into the phone without the phone being connected to the PC?
i have an hd2 and flashed wm7 to the device insteadof sd card. how do i fix this all help is very appreciated thanks
Are you serious -.-? Windows PHONE 7 can only be installed on the phone (NAND)!!!
am i right in thinking you installed WP7 to the device and your SD card isnt in use?
assumeing you had the SD card plugged in when you installed it then i am affraid your SD card isnt compatible, you will need to try another card, try stick to class 2 or 4 sd cards, unfortunately there isnt a list of working cards because every card is different and may or may not work
if you didnt have the SD card in then thats why the SD card isnt used, it needs to be present when you flash it
finally, if i have got this mixed up and you want to install to only the SD card and not the phone itsself then im sorry but it cant be done yet/ if at all
its true forgot to put in the sd card all together and it flashed to device... it works but no space for anything to save. dont know what to do at the moment. flashed magldr and then ppcboy wm7 like i said works reallly well just cant save anything and access the sd
If you do a hard reset with sd card in the phone should be all set. Wouldn't have to reflash anything. Just make sure sd card is in phone then go to settings, about, and click on reset phone. Should format on first boot and everything should be all set.
Answers my question I've been looking for. If I can flash my other hd2 that the sd card socket is broken with wp7. Already running it on the one I use all the time.
card is inseted but the phone doensn't seem to notice it.
any idea's?
Did you try a different SD card? I would take the card out, turn it on without, and then try putting the card back in.
tried another but didn't find that either, will reboot without a card and report back.
after rebooting misus the card and then rebooting with it, it has now found the sd card, any idea's what caused this or if its likely to happen again?
Does the recovery see your sdcard?
I'm not exactly sure if I got the same problem as everyone else with a dead sd card from windows phone 7. I was trying to use XBmod-Yuki's back to the future rom, and after the first update my phone froze. So, I wasn't able to access my sd card on anything; including windows, linux, the works. I wanted to play with the rom, so I thought I would try and install it without any sd card and just live with 50MB of storage. I ended up getting to the point of installing 7720 and zune said that there wasn't enough storage on my sd card. I decided to pop in my "dead" sd card anyway while my phone was running, and then go into the settings and reset the phone to factory defaults. I was hoping to see if MAYBE the card would magically start working again. The phone started back up and like magic with windows reporting 7.20GB again as if my sd card had never kicked the dust, but I had to start the whole update process again because zune kept giving me problems with restarting my phone to begin the install. Since doing that I haven't had any problems with my sd card. Again I'm not sure if I was getting all the proper symptoms of being locked out of my sd card and having the need for the nokia trick, but I thought I would share and see if this helps anyone else.

me too install wp7 sd card bad ! my mom
Hey all, I'm hoping somebody can help me. I'm currently running a rooted stock S5 I have safestrap installed and towel root.
All of a sudden this morning when I open to my gallery and pressed on a picture, it would not get bigger. I didn't think anything of it so I rebooted my phone. And when it came back up there was nothing on the SD card, all of my pictures and my music has disappeared. I unmount the SD card pulled it out rebooted we mounted SD card and I got an error message saying that the SD card was blank or the files are not supported. Has anyone come across this before?
When I got home from work, I pulled the SD card out put it in a card reader and on my computer again there were no files at all on the card. I put the card back in the phone and tried to reformat it, it would not reformat. I tried with several different SD cards and I'm getting the same error message saying that the card is blank and the file is not supported.
Any help would be greatly appreciated.

you might wanna try minitool partition wizard on your pc with your micro sd in your card reader and plugged into your pc and when you pull up your sd card im sure youll see your sd card isn't fat32 anymore and is Linux so to fix youll need to right click on the sd and click delete then put back into your phone and format then youll have it working again, but sorry to say your files are now gone on your micro sd
