Purchasing apps on the market outside of "authorized" areas

got the app- pity for some reason superuser doesnt want to play with it- funny cos SU plys ok with everything else....eg. advanced task manager etc.... am running 1.5 ADPHr1

is superuser not playing nice with it?

my SU is working ok with it now- for some reason it was hanging up- so i opened SU before opening this app..... i now have paid apps in Australia!!

Any requirements to install this program?

It really works! Thank you so much. I felt disappointed when I learned google was not allowing ADP1 users to even see the non-free applications. Now I can see everything. I haven't tried to buy anything yet. I'm in Spain and we are not supposed to have paid applications, so I don't want to rise any suspicions.

If you want to see the apps, you have to run the enabler and then (immediately after) go to the market. Or, to put it in a different way, it only allows this access for a (very) limited amount of time.

I was finally able to see a free but protected app (NBA Game Time) from my ADP1, and it downloaded and installed successfully, but it doesn't run at all (force closes every time). If it's of any help, I'm running JF 1.5 on an ADP1.

I'm using JF 1.5ADP with no further mods (apps2sd etc.) and the SU request is freezing, tried a reboot but no joy, any ideas?

This is a JF 1.5 issue, USB debugging must be enabled for the SU Whitelist to work (reboot not necessary).

I also have the JF 1.5ADP, but I do have the apps on the SD (I did it manually following instructions on JF's web). But it did asked me for root access like a million times (ok, a little exaggeration here, but it was like 6 or 7 times). And it takes a while (like a minute or so).

would it be easy to do the same hack for german market?
Would be cool to change between the different markets...

Switching between the different markets would be rather easy, you just need someone from that area to tell you what the numerical operator number and the operator name is.
I'll be posting soon how to do this process without the program install for people having trouble using market-enabler

Thanks, this is awesome! One thing I've noticed though, when viewing by popularity in uk it only shows free apps - paid aren't showing. They show normally in 'date added view though'.

yesterday my local market added support to paid app but automatic ?

Just read on twitter it was a SILENT UPDATE! by google ... no notifications just auto updated both app and icon etc giving a load of more countrys paid access

Well that explains it.. They haven't done anything here in India, maybe because we already had access to paid apps

Here in holland they have seperated the info and comments. Now you can read much more comments instead of the latest three...

In Japan, we got the price changes (everything now is displayed in Yen), but nothing else. Automatic updating would be nice.

How you all get the new logo? I enter the android market, it is still showing the old market logo on my phone.

It's just a logo telling us we can use paid apps -_-. If it's 2.2 related, we would be able to see live wallpaper downloads too.
We are using 1.6. Not 2.2. Please don't go delusional now.
Chong - just try restarting your phone lor. Maybe the icon will be refreshed that way.

There are many benefits of getting the new Market! You get Auto Updating Feature in Market, You also get Update all feature and Real time Search Suggestions in Market.

You can't see Live Wallpapers just because your handset is on Android 1.6! Android Market doesn't list apps which are not compatible to your handset based on Android Version. I said, you would get this market eventually if you fall within 32 upgraded countries by goggle for Paid Apps. But this is just a workaround to force that Update now!

Well I tried the tutorial, doesn't seem to work for me.
Infact now I can't install any updates to my apps. (Download failed - Unknown error)
Luckily I have a backup of my market.apk so I'm going to reinstall

It should be working, You might be updating an app which you didn't install from market but it has an update for you. Try searching a new app and isntall it! Didn't you get the New Market through this?
And you need not re-install the Market Apk, just restore the original market settings from the app itself and it would be enough!

That's what I'm trying to say. Cos you used the word "Froyo", so I thought you're trying to say this market change is 2.2-related, which is not.

I have restart my phone but the logo never change at all and it is still the same.
You all mention that I can install all the updates for the different apps at one go but I dun find any option in doing so. Where did you find that?

It is 2.2 related in the way that this is how the market works on Android 2.2. I guess Google decided to change things on their own, instead of waiting for OEMs.
Also, I don't have the new market, and I probably won't get it any time soon.

Your Constantly Running Applications

What app/services are constantly running on your phone? Here's mine just after turning on the phone. Not sure why a lot of them are always running, but they are. I'm trying to determine what is normal.
Also, to those with an Exchange email account set up, is "Email" always running for you too?
Settings: Obviously. Check
ShootMe: Obviously. Check
Minimalistic Text: My clock widget: Check
Market: No reason why this should be running but it is
Google Services: Okay, makes sense. Check
Media: No reason for this to be running.
Email: I have it set to push, so no reason for this to be running
Android keyboard: Obviously. Check

Most of the stock Google apps close if you hit either the home button or the back button because they're smart, but many 3rd party apps will show if you exit them using the home button, because it puts them in the background instead of closing them.

I believe that some apps like games are set to completely close when you hit the home button,
but ya your right, just tried it with Pandora and it showed up..silly me

Possibly a coincidence, but I just got pushed a minor update of the Market (2.2.11, which I just updated in my earlier post http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?p=10613600#post10613600) and the "Market" process is gone. Maybe it was a memory leak they plugged.

ya, i have yet to get any market update, and since i am currently not rooted i wouldnt be able to install the apk to /system so im kinda holding off for an official update to get pushed.

I'm not rooted and I installed the apk off of one of the threads on here. I didn't expect it to work because I tried it on my old wildfire when the new market was originally pushed out, which was rooted running cm 6. Give it a try, it may work for you.

A lot of people don't understand how Android works. Just because an app is "running" and in memory doesn't mean it's doing anything to suck up resources.
In linux/android, the mantra is "free memory is wasted memory", and the OS does it's best to keep all but a minimal
Android loads up apps it thinks you'll use into any free memory so that they're there ready and waiting to do their thing when you call upon them.
Install a terminal app and run "top", you'll see that all those apps are just sitting there at 0% cpu usage. No harm, no foul.
Unlike older versions of the iPhone, which seems to be where most people I know think they need a task killer and that "running apps" are bad, Android's smart enough to kill off background/idle apps as needed.
The really ironic thing about all this is that a lot of people install and use a task killer to kill off apps in a futile attempt to free up memory without realizing that Android's just going to load up the app again, or something else in its place.
There are badly written apps that might go rogue once in a while and really do need to be killed off, but they're pretty rare in my experience.
I haven't used a task killer since Eclair, and really don't think it was necessary back then.

I think that this is just a test rollout so maybe we will see mass release soon

All your running apps looks completely normal, android works differently. Often an app is open but not using any resources.
And if push email is enabled, why would you expect the email app to NOT show up as running? It would need to be if you have push enabled.

Could not find z4Root in the market but there should be a thread here in XDA or search it on your device and direct download the apk file

yeahhh i just got this device and the first night i noticed some lagg and even managed to lock it up twice
but about the above. if u need the apps u can find any paid app or missing apps from the market at 4shared.com. when u get find them you will have to wait 20 secs and then app should begain downloading (must allow 3rd party apps to be installed)
when looking for One Click Lag Fix search for OCLF
when looking for z4Root search for z4root
PS.... i would post links but cant till i hit the 8 message spam thing ill PM person who started the topic to see if he can include the files

I'm not sure if this really work or is a placebo effect only.
Anyways I try but my P-1010 lost the vibration effect , I uninstall the OCLF and this come back to normal.

oh RIGHT, that's also another reason I un-installed OCLF. losing haptic feedback was a dealbreaker for me.

Do I have to install EXT2 tool?

Wow i was reading ur post and was like yeah right. So i put my tab in vibrate mode and NOTHING WTF...
does anyone know why this is???? and i belive u can uninstall OCLF and the lag fix and other installs drom OCLF will still work even if uninstalled (I THINK lol )

Tried several versions of z4Root and none seem to work for me - How does one tell if the root was done (took the temporary approach with z4Root v1.3)
I am specifically trying to find the Skype data file to delete so can re-install it
If the rooting is working then I simply can't find the file so missing something

u should be able to go to menu, settings, applications, manage applications then find skype and unistall
but to answear ur question directly when u install z4root and open the app it will say root,
if its already rooted u should see re-root or undo root..

After rooting look for Skype to uninstall but not there. The issue is that if installed then uninstalled Skype seems to leave, based on other board comments, that residual Data file and thus can't be reinstalled. My understanding is that once rooted one can then locate that hidden file and delete it so can reinstall Skype but this doesn't seem to be the case, does it? I can't find that file.
When Temp rooted and restart z4Root it does offer an Re-root option so (now using V1.3) it has been rooted.
Perhaps there is a difference in rooting between Temp & Permanent but wouldn't think so

Hello, I have the same problem with Skype (uninstall, then can't reinstall). My GT-P1010 Wifi it's not rooted yet...

You need to be rooted and use an explorer, run a search for Skype and delete everything it finds.

So i just updated my phone to 4.0.a.2.368 and i noticed a lot of really nice changes. Since there aren't any official notes (or at least not ones i can find) i will be posting changes i noticed here along with personal opinion on some of them without a particular order...
xLOUD-The soundspeaker loudness is greatly increased and the sound is so much better.
Media Player-When you play a song the backround of the player changes to a color most noticable in the album art
-looks great
Infinity Button Upgraded-You can now search for artist on wikipedia,lyrics on google and karaoke videos on youtube.
-Finally the button is useful
Lock Animation-It is changed to an old-style tv turn off
-It looks great and kinda gives nostalgia
App Refresh on Reboot-Before i updated my phone every time i rebooted it I had to let it ''sit'' for 5 minutes so it loads all the apps from the sd card and if you opened the menu you would have to reboot it again...but now it shows an icon on every non-loaded app that quickly refreshes to give the real app
-yes yes yes my brother always said its the worst thing about this phone so now i can rub it in his face
Themes-Basically like wallpaper but changes the background of some apps like Messaging
Messaging-Now it opens up so much faster and has a different boot animation
Call handling-You can now manage what calls you receive and block
-I was always wondering why wasn't this already included,i mean all my older phones have it
Timescape-Doesn't freeze when you move the widget and scrolls a lot smoother,in addition Extension Manager has been added so you can get more content to Timescape from more sites and you can also see calls and messages.
Wireless Radio-It seems like its power is increased and you don't get disconnected from older routers altho i haven't been able to test this longer than 30 minutes.
Status switch Widget-The old 4x1 has been replaced with a new 3x2 one
-It looks ugly and it messed up my perfect widget arrangement
Weather widget-Pretty self explanatory
-Now i can delete space-consuming Weatherbug
Favorites and Recent Calls Widget-Also self explanatory
-Its huge but i guess it is useful and at least looks nice
Be sure to add stuff you notice and i will update more stuff tomorow

Umm... you never need root for updating your phone,just connect it to your computer and install SE Pc Companion and you will be asked to update it

Well it is sort of better but you don't get disconnected when the signal gets under 20% and i have noticed i can play zinga poker now where in the last update it would disconnect me from wifi as soon as i started playing,but now it runs great

I got the update via OTA today (Philippines) and I still have root. Rooted using Gingerbreak 1.20.

OTA for UK now also

Does this mean I deleted an app that it checks to see if you are on stadard build>? Do I have to go back to Uk Generic and root then ota?

Try it one more time. But did you delete a stock app? I just froze all of mine and the update was fine.

My fails to update as well should I unroot first then update?

@nelly_boy & Xplay. If you have uninstalled anything from your phone after rooting. The ota update will fail.
As you have said nelly_boy you will have to reflash to 2.3.2 to get the stuff you deleted back then root then do the ota to get 4.0.a rooted.
@Xplay. You dont have to unroot to ota update. The whole point of updating using ota is to keep root.

How about the camera and video recording? Any improvement?

That will be in the 2.3.4 update.
But I believe they enabled stereo sound recording for video.
