Hi,
I'm working on a media player app that uses the MediaPlayer class. On the N1 all is good, however, on the T-Mobile G2 when nothing is plugged, sound comes out of the speaker, and when you plug in headphones the sound automatically comes out of the handset (and not the headphones).
With other apps (stock media player) this doesn't happen (IE sounds gets diverted to headphones correctly), only with my app so I get the feeling it's something to do with a property I didn't set or something.
Can anyone point me in the right direction?

So i was just cleaning my garage and listening to music playing on my atrix from the default music player, the sound just stopped, but when i looked at the phone it showed the song was still playing. I rebooted the phone twice and still no sound from the music player. Also, the system sounds went out too. all except the phone lock and unlock sound, all the system ringtones play, but are not nearly as loud as they were, and my speaker phone works too. But no game sound or music work now. Another issue is no sound coming from the earpiece when i make calls, also, no sound through plantronics backbeat 903+ bluetooth headphones, but i do have sound through my klipsch image s4i wired headset.
i am rooted with stock 1.8.3. no other mods (yet) the only thing that i have done differently today is put the phone in a monaco aluminum case that i just purchased.
this is really weird, if anyone has any theories, fixes, or ideas, please share. i need to get this working ASAP!!!
just did a tibu and all the sudden everything works again. really weird!!!
Hi, sorry to hijack your post, but could you tell me if the mic works well with the Image S4i? And is the headset controller app compatible with it? In my country, the S4a isn't available, and the S4's cost the same as the S4i so it would be great if you could tell me.
I am using stock ginger unrooted android and i am becoming more and more annoyed with minor problems it presents. I am really very surprised to encounter this kind of design flaws in htc device...
Now i am not sure if it's hardware or software limitation, but i discovered that ringtone volume for phones loudspeaker will be the same as for earphones one. This is stupid, as i have read peoples complaints about phones behaviour while listening music and phone suddenly ringing aloud, this might be uncomfortable, for example in the library or public transport. But with me it's even more stupid, because i keep my phone on vibration alert all the time - i don't need it to ring. So i keep it in my pocket, and listen to some tunes, and then i notice missed calls... no ringtone, music still plays... how stupid is this?
I gave a try to "audio concert", sound profile manager which adjusts phones loudness when it detects connection/disconnection of headphones jack, but at the very best i am left with having a phone ringing in my pocket when i use headphones...
Almost every dumbphone i used at least stopped ringing using built-in loud speaker when headset was connected, not to mention SE phones which played ringtone through earphones even when muted...
So to sum it up, does anyone know whether it is possible to disable loudspeaker and still have ringtone over headphones?
Or at least any good semi-solution?
thanks,
HI, I don't want any notifications or ringtones to play through the back speaker of my S4 when the headphones are plugged in. I want to ONLY hear those sounds in my headphones. Completely muting the phone doesn't work because then obviously I wouldn't hear anything in the headphones either.
So, is it possible to do this on the GT-i9505 ?
My old Samsung Galaxy Spica did this and I really miss that "feature".
That's weird yours plays thru the rear speaker mine plays everything thru the headphones when connected
HA! this is a hugeass issue on every android I've owned. im assuming you're using poweramp or something right? the stock player pauses the song to play it thru the headphones which is probably why that dude up ^^ doesn't get that.
anyways some kernels fix this, namely Boeffla Sound on the sgs3. sadly I've seen no fix on the s4. SO! , here's what your can do; in your music player (power amp, etc), under audio settings, turn on Settings>Audio>Audio Focus> and tick 'Short Audio Focus Changes', this will pause your music on notifications.
ORRRRR a far better solution is when you plug in your 3.5mm jack headphones (cause this shii* doesn't happen on bluetooth), you can just pull down your notification bar and tap over to vibrate mode. then you'll hear notifications IN YOUR HEADPHONES a little quieter but still noticeably behind your music, and your music won't pause or mute or anything.

Hey, while Im enjoying my rooted V20, I catch myself tryna eliminate its few shortcomings. One is the music player...
I work in semi loud environment and on my previous Samsungs (SG2, Note 2,3,4& 7). The phone, which is hooked up to a simple set of 3.5mm computer speakers would temporary pause the music to let the chime sound come through and then restart audio. All this happens in 1 second and was regardless of the source (mp3 sd card, pandora,iHeart)
Is there any way to make the V20 do this? The break in audio was enough to get my attention when Im in the back of my machine... The V20 seems to play the alert mixed in with music.
Hey all, it's been bothering me for quite a while and am just getting around to it now.
When listening to music (on any type of player app), I do not hear my notification sounds. The only thing that happens is that the music still plays, but lowers itself to maybe 20% for a few seconds, then back to normal.
This is the only way I know "something" came in. But with no audio queues, I have no idea from which app.
I believe I never had this issue with my old wired headphones. Unfortunately I no longer have wired headphones to test with.
Has anyone else come across this?
