[Q] Contacts Caller ID - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

It seems this is a constant problem with HTC Sense build Roms.
SMS numbers show up well(cause the number from the messaging center comes with the country code), but when someone calls, the phone doesn't match the number in the phonebook.
I have stored all my numbers as +xxx yyyyyyy or +xxx yyyyyyyy where the x is the country code and y is the number with the area code.
I found out that the builds check the first 8 numbers from right to left. What I need, is to modify the caller ID match to check the first 7 and not 8.
This problem doesn't seem to exist with the Nexus one rom, and the phone matches almost all numbers in both SMS and calls.
It's weird how there is no real answer about this anywhere...
I am using Mdeejay_FroYo_Sense_v._1.1_Clean_R75 with hastarin 7.7
Advice anyone?

Very strange how no one seems to have an answer!

I have the same problem you have. I didnt found an answer to it yet. Hope somebody can help out.

Could it be an issue with toCallerIdMinMatch string? How I can edit the code on my Andrioid phone. Any good free software for it?
I found some info about it in these places
htp://code.google.com/p/android/issues/detail?id=1583
htp://gitorious.org/0xdroid/cts/blobs/3955421d483cbce38b1d9c3d3e6f3afdd7c7348c/tests/tests/telephony/src/android/telephony/cts/PhoneNumberUtilsTest.java

found on other forums also that Caller ID failure on Android phones is caused by the fact that US and some other countries use 8 digit caller Id match. At the same time Baltic countries and some other only use 7 digit Caller ID match. Therefore even when numbers are saved with country code (+372 in case of Estonia) does not do the trick. Android phone code should be edited to change Min_Match from 8 to 7 but now I need to find some good software for it. Any good suggestions?

Handcent SMS
I also had this problem with the Handcent SMS app on my MDJ 2.4 Sense Clean build. I had to change back to using the stock Sense messaging application as for some reason this picked up my caller ID's ok.
Hancent worked fine on my previous Nexus one senseless build.
I have read about this elsewhere, so will have a rummage and see what I can find.
Be good if we can find a solution as stock messaging is pants.

App to prefix numbers with operator codes

Hi there,
I have a Moto Q11 from Vivo (Brazil) and it came with wonderful little app called "EP", which does a simple yet awesome thing:
It will replace (or add) as a prefix, the operator code I choose. No matter how the phone is stored in phonebook (already with the operator code, city code, or just the number itself) it properly adds or alters the phone when I dial it.
You may configure it with the operator of your choice, and change it as you please. For example, let´s say all my phonebook entries are with "015" as the long distance operator code (eg. 0151121342213). If I configure the app with another operator (let´s say, 031), when I hit dial, it will in fact dial 0311121342213. The actual phone in the phonebook is not altered. If the phone number is stored as 1121342213, it will add the 031 as well.
I really need such an app in my Rhodium and Kaiser!
Does any1 have any idea of an app that would do this ? Tried copying the executable from the Moto Q11 to my Kaiser and it didn´t work (it says the app is not for that platform)...
Tia!
I was not able to find a program that would do it. I have found that the EP stands for Easy Prefix, and googling it gave me the impression that this app is standard for Motorola phones.
Any further help would be appreciated...
I got same issue, bro
Can anybody help people like us ?
TA
Just fyi, so far no luck
Have you tried Magicall? ( http://www.mobiion.com/magicall.html )
It can change any number you dial, based on rules. I think this would work for you (so, for example, if you dialed anything starting with 789, it would replace that with 123.
I use it for ADDING numbers to the start, so that certain numbers get dialed using a calling card, but I'm pretty sure you can replace digits as well

Different caller id numbers.

Hi. After installing the latest firmware and root my caller id isnt working properly.
Before the update. When i got a call it only shown the caller number i.e.: 85360000 (brazil pattern). Now it shows area code! This is bad because caller id doesnt recognise the number unless i edit all of my 400 contacts.
The problem is even worst on sms because it is adding up not only the area code but the country code. Something like +551183003200
Thats really annoying.
Does anyone know a fix or software that can make the caller id translate only the 8 last numbers for cross_matching with my contacts?
Thanks in advance
Sent from my X10a using XDA App
Is there a way to make the caller id/sms id recognize only the last 10 digits or something like that??

[q] wtk: Caller id

i live in Trinidad and i cant seem to get the caller id to work...our international code is 868 and i have all my contacts stored but every time i get a call, all i can see is the 1868#######, etc...can anyone help...thanks
anyone could help please???
No one really has an answer for this problem. It seems to have in all HTC builds but not on Nexus One builds.
Try to install a Nexus One build and check if the problem persists.

[Q] Incoming Call on WM7

Can someone clarify if WM7 will show both the full name and company for incoming calls.
I save all my contacts in outlook and use the File As to show both Person & Company i.e. John Smith(ABC Ltd).
I have over 1500 contacts for work and it's one of the features that has kept me with Windows for years.
I've tried Android and that doesn't do it. Iphone doesn't do it. Nokia doesn't do it - Not sure about Blackberry.
Also does WM7 have smart dial - I'm sure I read that it didn't, again it's a feature that's kept me with Windows, I have a shocking memory and being able to dial by first name, last name, company or telephone number is invaluble.
Cheers
Pete
For me it shows only 1st and last name + picture if available. Company info is a no go as long as you don't incorporate it in the contact name itself as I usually do.
Smartdial: No. But searching the contact list is easy. Just type 2-3 letters and you have narrowed the results enough. I'm saying this with 700+ contacts.
...I very much like to use voice dial, too. Very reliable, in fact, and fast.

That's really dissapointing - as a business tool I find it so very useful.
I guess I'll have to stick with 6.5 until something else similar comes along.

Dear All,
I'm experiencing very strange issue with my WP7 HTC HD2, when receiving call form my saved contacts.
Almost all my contacts are saved in my phone with international dialing code as I'm living abroad.
When I receive call abroad, the name of my contact is displayed.
When I receive call at home the name is not displayed, only the number is displayed and I dont know who is calling while the number is saved in my phone with international dialing code.
To have the name displayed I have to save the number again without international dialing code.
I have the same issue when I dialing also.
Please help.

Apply the following registry and it will solve your problem:
[HKEY_CURRENT_USER\ControlPanel\Phone]
"CallIDMatch"=dword:7

[Q] re-organize sort phone numbers according to country&area code

hi Android Community,
i am just about to reorganize my phonebook, i have used different methods of saving numbers to my phonebook e.g. for germany 004996122222 for person xyz, 0049 stands for country code 961 stands for area code and 22222 stands for the landline, usually Android displays incoming calls like this area code "space" and landline number, it also displays the city where the area code belongs too e.g. waidhaus which is near my hometown.
i still have misc problems the way android formats these numbers. still no problems calling contacts, but one issue was when i type the phone number manually android only suggests me the phone number of one specific person i have in my phonebook either i type in this persons phone number or another persons phone number (manually!!) this is way of wrong.
it displays me this persons name either it is this persons number or any other. i have had this bug years ago with my first htc desire still preserving; it started when beginning saving phone numbers the lol way e.g. 004996122222 where it was not necessary to save it this way unless you are in holidays abroad
due to different formatting of phone numbers from persons around the globe because of the int code &the different way of handling of the leading zero according the country you call to i still have issues, i know there is a way you can edit phone nr in google contacts (gmail) so that it can be updated with next sync. but that did not helped me, still issues from what i have written above
is there a app available that removes this bug of only displaying this one persons contact either i type in his number or anyone else, i think it is because of googles data collection rage and/or my sold htc desirewhich may have had a bug in htc sense and the availability of updates for this device (now i have sgs3 and cm whatever version i dont know and have no issues atm)
or maybe it was because of my mistake setting the phone number the proper way, i think there is no wrong in setting the phone number the way +1NewYorkCityAreaCodeBureauofPersonXYZ but i did probably made a mistake in doing this way making it difficult to reorganize my phonebook.
the problem with this has nothing to do with outgoing calls as there are no problems when typing 004996122222 it always works well (destination germany either i am in germany or abroad), but when a incoming call comes from a saved contact i suggest that it would properly display the orign of the call (only as it is with landline numbers either it is within a country or abroad but no mobile numbers as there are limitations to this),
i wonder if anybody can tell me if there is a builtin library in Android that handles this task i would appreciate your answers to this topic even if i could have written a book on this topic,
wishing you can be indulgent too on my write rage even if it could be explained a smarter way, if you have questions feel free to ask.
