im trying to stream an avi file from a computer to the phone. i was successful streaming between 2 computers. some missing apis from windows mobile are preventing me from making this work, notably createremotethread, and the backup software permissions on the createfile function.
my file gets transferred in chunks from the computer to the phone. on the phone, i call the createfile() function, with all the share read and write permissions. i then start streaming the data from the computer to the file, which works great. now,if i try to open this file with a directshow player while data is streaming and filling up the file, the player is unable to open the file/get a valid handle, even though i have set the right permissions to grant it access. if i release the handle on my file, then the directshow players can access the file and play it properly.
Now i thought then ill just transfer the header and a little data, release the handle, let the player begin playing, then open my file again and continue streaming the data. Well, after the file is open by the player,i can no longer get a valid handle to the file.
in desktop windows, i could have used the backup program permissions to get access to a file even if its locked, or createremotethread and unlock a locked file. none of those are available to windows mobile. what to do?

Ok, I need help here.
I managed to put up a WiFi Network on my PC and got everything working.
Browsing the internet, for 1, second i can look up browse everything on my Shared Drive (mostly Media Files)
The Problem is that i can't open any of these Files on my JAM including .JPG, Wav, and MP3 Files.
I can play those File extensions on my JAM, so i know the file Format is not the hot issue here.
Any help is appreciated......i looked on this Forum, but no help.
Try using Resco File Explorer, it should allow you to open files on your Jam. I couldn't get the built in file browser to open files over my network.
Thanks will Try that
Hi all,
Just wondering if anybody could shed light on the following scenario:
When I connect my HD to my PC using windows mobile device center and successfully sync, i then navigate to a windows explorer tab and open up my storage card. I can then browse files, copy and paste, rename etc, however, i can not edit word files. When i open up a word file on my device via my pc it is locked as read only. The only way to be able to edit such files is to disconnect, and then reconnect my device, but in disk drive mode.
Does anybody know if i can edit my files and use activesync at the same time?
Thank you very much for your time
Hi there,
If you are familiar with winmo 6.5 then no doubt that you would have had resco explorer installed and perhaps utilised the network section. What some of may or may not know is that once you created your network links so to speak to your LAN, you could then export that as a proper folder in the normal directory. This was really handy for streaming media files via any media player as you could just go straight to the folder, as it would be in the windows dir.
I wondered if there was some sort of counterpart for android. So far I have used ES file explorer which is great but when trying to play any media type it adopts for its own or tries to download it, which is not what I want. AndroXplorer can creat shortcuts to network folders but the shortcuts cant be moved to the android root dir.
Hope you can understand this, any ideas or suggestions would be very welcome! Thanks again.
Hi! all. recently i have this problem copying large video files from windows explorer to the iconia. everytime i copy & paste a large file such as 1 or 2gb, windows explorer will stop functioning & restart. i notice that small files such as pix & mp3 do not have this issue. but if a folder that is 1gb in size with lotsa pix or music in it is transfered, the same thing will occur. i tried wifi file transfer but it keeps getting disconnected halfway & i have to redo the whole process again. anyone can help?
What I recommend is getting ES File Explorer from, the market, its free. Then share, say your home folder over the network in windows, as ES can access Samba file share. Then copy and paste within ES instead of your computer not only does it work wonderfully, but you aren't tethered to your home computer and you don't have to use Acers terrible driver Lemme know if it works.
Even easier, withthe File Expert (free), yuu don't have to have a permanent network share, it has a web interface for transfering to and from the tablet. It also has root access, so no need for a separate root explorer.
same with es on root access. I find sharing a folder easier for me, but thats just me.
I have a strange problem
Locked files or ghost files
I have Explorer ES The File Manager I see the files but when I try to move or play them I get an error Message It is impossible to move the file or play the files

I tried to run through vlc or Media Player Classic (k liet)
