[Q] Change the soft key lock in the Start Menu? - Windows Mobile Development and Hacking General

HTC Mega/WinM 6.5. Can I change the soft key lock (attributed otherwise) in the start menu
I use S2U2 and turned off the WM6.5 lock Slider (HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE \ Software \ Microsoft \ Shell \ lockscreen: Enable "0")
But when I press the soft key lock in menu start is switched me to the old one with a button, what is obsolete to me.Can I assign different functions to the left soft key (lock) in the start menu? If possible how,or what(program)?
Greetings

Menu Customisation on Left Soft Key

Hi,
I have couple questions regarding the left soft key menu customization on wm5 smartphone.
This is what I already know:
I know how to customize the right soft key (SK2) menu in Contacts using iContextMenu interface by studying the SDK sample code.
Description of what I hope to achieve:
In the Contacts screen, the default action for the left soft key (SK1) is "New Contact", I would like to customize the left soft key to do something else. It could be "New SIM Contact" or even "Beam Contact", or "Delete", or ultimately my customized action.
Also:
Is the menu control in Contact same as the menu control in Call Log? I have a feeling they are some what different, is this true?
Thanks in advance,
Nelson

Manila 2d and phone lock

After spending the better part of 2 hours scanning various threads and finding 2 3rd party programs I have to ask..... since phone locking/unlocking is native to Windows Mobile Professional 6 is there any way to enable it in M2D??
I'm currently running ver: 1.0.1818.3719 on my Tilt.
Do I need to update my version # for this?
I'm not a newb to my phone but am to M2D. Till now I've used HTC Home 2.whatever.
Thanks in advance
John
on htc phone you can go to
Start \ Settings \ Personal \ Buttons \ End key
and choose Automatically execute the "lock device".
This will lock your device when you will press & hold end key.
If you are looking for automatically locking I suggest you to try S2U2, it has a lot of features and you can use it to get full screen caller picture as well.

Windows and OK button missing

Got a newbie question – please don’t shoot me if it’s silly. Just got myself a HD2 and absolutely love it. Swapped the stock ROM with the „X-TREME“ ROM and everything works like a charm. Only trouble is that I now miss the <Start Menu> and the <OK> icon in the top taskbar. Hence I am wondering if those buttons were removed by design and if yes, if there is any alternative (better?) way. I’ve noticed that on some screenshots the icons appear on the bottom of the screen, but that’s not happening on my phone…
Cheeeeeeers!
You can resign yourself to using the hardware buttons (the Windows flag button is Start and the back button is OK/Close) or restore the softkeys via registry changes.
Inside [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\BubbleTiles] set these keys to 1 to indicate the presence of hard buttons (and thus no need for softkeys) or 0 to show the softkeys:
"HardwareStartKeyEnabled"=dword:00000001
"HardwareDoneKeyEnabled"=dword:00000001
You can set these to 1 or 0 independent of each other.
I originally set mine to 1 to hide the softkeys to clear away clutter from the bottom bar. I've since set them back to 0 because AMeBa doesn't "see" the hardware back/OK/Close button and thus can't close applications. I've also used AMeBa to run Voice Command through a long press of the Windows softkey (like with the back key, AMeBa can't handle a long press of the hardware Windows key).
first of what build are you using? some roms eliminate these buttons cause you have hardware ones.
There are cab to put these back...usally
Yeah. some of the new x-treme ROM eliminated those two soft buttons because we have dedicated buttons at the bottom. Start is the middle button with windows logo, and OK would be the back button.
Thanks alot guys - I've applied the registry changes suggested and now I got my beloved buttons back
Cheeeeeeeeeeers!

Disable End Key Lock

I've been scouring the forums with no luck so far, I need a way to disable the lock that is attached to a short press of the End Key on my Touch 2's.
Reg Tweak, app any suggestions welcome, its causing me quite a problem, I want to roll these out for a corporate app and the kiosk I use is not blocking this operation.
Cheers - Sam

For disable lockscreen you can modify this
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Shell\LockScreen:Enable "0"
You can use ceregedit (with pc) or PHM registry editor

Dude,
I've tried doin that but all u're gonna do is invoke the old lockscreen from previous WM version... I think what the other guy wants is totally no lockscreen at all =)
yep
tried that, we really need the lock and screenlock removing so this button does nothing at all
lockscreen dll?
I think that the function is given by dll lockscreen.dll. Tonight I try to replace it and see what happens. We'll let you know later.
hi, I was trying some software in my Touch and I got myself into situation where my phone did not lock up after pressing "power off" button but I was still able to lock the screen using Lock software button/icon. It was simply result of installing S2U2 and configuring it as default lockscreen.
If you perform these steps only known way to return to default state is hard reset!
Install S2U2.
right after installation goto start menu > directory s2u2 > click on S2U2 and it should se itself.
Uninstalll S2U2
in settings > lock set your default lock screen

Well you can recover the original lock screen and everything by downloading this file http://acs2.mstreme.com/download/RestoreWM65DeviceLock.cab.
For more info check s2u2's FAQ, under WM 6.5, "Q. How to restore the WM6.5 built-in lock?", here http://67.43.3.117/~acs2co/S2U2-faq.html
disable in WM6.5 the Key Lock / Keylock at Standby
I find a possibility to deactivate the Key lock in standby at Windows Mobile 6.5 :
with this registry key:
Add a new "DWORD" value
in HKEY_CURRENT_USER/ControlPanel/Keybd
Name: DeviceLockWhenSuspend
Value: 0
after this take a softreset and have fun
