Hi,
After various mods I noticed that my contacts app doesn't work. However after modding a few too many things, I had to restore so decided to start afresh and reload JPM. It turns out that even using stock JPM, the contacts app won't work, I.e. force close. Is anyone else having this problem? Did anyone find a fix for the issue?
I thought of possibly replacing the system app relevant to contacts (com.android.acore, or something like that) but haven't found it from a working JPM/JP6 build.
Any help is appreciated.

Have an HTC Glacier (obviously), stock rom, but rooted with radio s=off. I do not know when this problem began, but when I try to open the themes setting in Settings, I get the message "Unable to find an activity for this action" (or something very similar).
I really have not done much else to the phone except freeze apps with Ti. I saw that someone just posted about this same issue, except he was told he was in the wrong forum (he was in the mytouch 3g forum), so I guess he reposted it in this forum but I dunno... maybe he got lost again because I have not been able to find that post. As such I am starting this one.
I have my partition 7 .bin backup sync'd with dropbox on my laptop, plus I have made numerous nandroid backups and Ti data backups, so I am not worried that I will not be able to recover my phone, but I would like to know what caused this.
Anyone have any ideas??? I have frozen just about every T-mobile bundled app except the obvious (dialer, and other necessary system apps), but I did get rid of the native email client as I use gmail, and I believe I froze myModes... and probably a few other "my....".apks pos crapware that it is...
Sorry to bump this, but I really would love to know what this error means, and how did I do this? As said above, other than rooting, the only non sanctioned activity has been freezing apps. However I have defrosted those that I thought might have been unwise (such as stock tmo themes), but that didn't solve the problem.
I am going to flash to a custom rom soon, but for a few more weeks, I am going to use the stock rom (rooted).
Thanks a lot!

Hello,
I got GT-I9000 on 2.2.1 / J9000XXJVE / Dark_Core_1.0 running Darky's v9.5.XWJS8 (Voodoo 6 kernel), Ex4 lagfix active.
My problem is that non of the 3rd party camera apps, like Camera360, Vignette etc are working. When I start the apps they ether FC, or show me info about the camera driver problem (screens attached). Stock camera apk is working flawless, and no problem with it at all. If someone be so kind, and help me find a solution. I really don't want to flash software again :/

I would also suggest going into Settings > Applications > Manage Applications and clearing the data for every application you are having trouble with.
If that doesn't help, perhaps you should reflash your kernel or try a new kernel to see if that solves the driver initialization issue.
Thank you for reply. Unfortunately changing kernel didn't helped. I switch to speedmod, and the same problem occurs. Think I'm gonna flash whole rom later today. The funny thing is that only camera-based apps are not working. Oh well

did you delete system email.apk before? had a similar problem with barcoo once and solved it by reinstalling the original mail.apk. have read it several times that this seems to cause force closes in third party camera apps in some way
Return back Email.apk, if you removed it.
Thank You all. That was the problem in 99%. I've remove the email apk, but didn't have the chance to restore it manually, I've just reinstalled the rom.
Ok, it's weird. I'm on Froyo JSD stock and also tried out other 2.2.1 ROM like JS8. Gingerbread ROMs didn't have this problem.
Third party camera apps like CamTranslator, Mobile Hidden Camera, Barcode Scanner, or any apps using camera gave me error accessing camera. When I opened the camera app itself, it works fine, no error whatsoever.
At first, I just solved it with keeping Daily Briefing and Email autostart because I found that these two apps trigger the problem. But now it's back even I defrosted the two apps and keep them running. Weird, isn't it? What's the problem? Any idea. Already installed fresh JSD and JS8, the same problem occured, Daily Briefing and Email must keep running at startup.
Anyone??

Try another ROM?
Already tried all Froyos. I don't want Gingerbread.
Have the same problem. You have to restore stock e-mail client and wipe this app data - reboot, and should solve the problem.
If you really have removed the stock email app (did not read that anywhere and would not make sense keeping it in autostart, would it?) you could use this libcamera.so (replacing libcamera.so only is enough, be sure to make a backup copy) - Im using it with JSD and it works fine.
Asked what has been done to this lib some days ago but no answer yet.
Just posting in case it might be useful but does not seem to be a solution if you are using a complete stock rom...

Damn! It works! Thanks. Now, where's the thanks button in the XDA app...
Wow, nice it worked for you
First time I was able to help somebody here.
Hello all,
I have just upgraded my GT540 from 2.1 to 2.3.5 using SwiftDroid v2.0 RC3.
It looks great but I experience some trouble in loggin in facebook/twitter.
Actually it works fine when I log in, I can access everything as before.
However, everytime I reboot my phone, the login information is just gone and I have to enter password again and again.
I looked into the setting/account&syn, and it seems that all the account information except the google one won't be stored at the reboot.
Does anyone have suggestions? It's quite annoying to me.
Many thanks.
Sync
Did you add your account to the sync list? Go to Settings --> Account & Sync, then Add Account. Try that. I've never came across this problem. You could do wipe your data fully and re-flash Swiftdroid. It could be a problem with your modem or your network. There's a lot to go through but don't stress it, it seems like a minor problem.
I have tried the first approach but didn't work
plan to reflash it cleanly.
Hope it works
Thanks
I have figured out the reason of the problem.
It's probably because I have moved those apps to sd.
Once I moved them back to the phone, the problem is solved
ROM: |3/24/2012| |ReloadedROMâ„¢| |CM9 Reloaded| |Kindle Fire| [CM9]
This problem also occured on Energy Kang.
Basically, any app that I leave on the sd card before I reboot will be gone after it. App Manager says "couldn't find app," the application size is changed to 0.00bytes, and the application names are the long com.etc ones. The icon remains on the homescreen but gives "App not Installed."
I honestly don't know what's going on. It's driving me crazy. Does anyone have any suggestions? These problems only happen on the ICS based roms. MIUI and CM7 have no issues with it, if that's any hint. I also had to flash ICS Google Apps for the ICS roms.
Google searching and attempting the fixes offered no solution. IT's said that this occurs when you have 50+ applications on the sdcard, but I can't even get ONE to stay on there, so how could I have 50? They just keep disappearing.
You're not the only person it happens to, and it seems to be a known issue on most ICS ROMs. If you really need the extra space for applications, I guess you could repartition the KF...
I don't need to fix it, but curiosity is getting the best of me. I just want to know why it's happening. Any hints would be welcomed, too.
I know that I can just move the apps to the system, by the way. I'm wondering if it's trying to put the applications in the wrong place...Hmm.
