What platform should Sprint focus on- Vote - EVO 4G General

It appears Sprint Palm groupies are making their presence known.

webOS W T F

Nah, it's a little too stupid in there. And honestly I'm quite fond of WebOS. I think it's an excellent OS and better than Android in some ways. Problem is it's only on Palm phones that suck.

Come on people, vote the crap out of this, we're about 1000 votes down right now!
If you don't vote, it means u hate america!

I honestly think this poll was only created to make the webOS crowd feel better. I mean, Android by far out-sells webOS, so why would Sprint give a **** about a meaningless online poll?

The one thing I still miss about my iPhone...

Weird to say it but I kind of miss evil Apple being the bad guy and trying to control all of our phones. I miss the challenge and being able to strike back with a jailbreak. I know you can be "bad" and root your N1 but its not really the same for me since Google is a great company that is totally open and customer oriented and the Nexus One fulfills all of my needs right out of the box so there is no badguy to fight against and make things fun.
The iPhone jailbreak community was really a family since everyone had the same phone and was always working together against "the man". With the android and the Nexus One there are so many android phones that the community as a whole feels some fractured since everyone is on different forums. So far XDA, Phandroid, and Nexus One Forums have been the best with community involvement but I am sure over time it will get better.
Thanks guys for being great and helping me with all my questions. Hope we can continue to stick together helping each other out.

The ONLY reason it's separated like that is because older phones aren't capable of running the latest Android version.
Can you imagine what will happen once every phone is specced like the Nexus One (or higher), and will be able to run the latest Android version?
Everyone will be hacking away with the same version (after rooting/flashing/etc), making the community infinitely stronger than any other OS.

Aaakshually, the HTC Tattoo'll get a 2.1 update too, and if that toy can run 2.1, then damn near anything can.

I don't understand the thrill of jailbreaking. "Sticking it to the man" just doesn't appeal to me. Apple is free to lock their devices down but I don't want it so why give my money to them? Rooting an android isn't the same thing, google isn't going to threaten me or purposely brick my phone just because I rooted it.
Instead of jailbreaking an iphone just to make it do what I want I chose to buy an android. Getting something that is closer to what I want is a bigger thrill to me than making something that I consider much more "evil" do what I want. Apple still gets your money so why encourage their brand of intolerance?
I miss my Vic-20, now there's a challenge that wasn't evil. Try making it do nice things with under 3K of RAM.

Yeah, this. Not giving them money is the best way to "stick it to the man." Buying their products and then jailbreaking it only sticks a huge apple into your unmentionables, really.

If I were Google I would release Android 2.2 06/14/2010

My resoning is simple Iphone 4 is set up for pre purchase 06/15/2010. I think that would throw a wrench in Apples plan. I would run a few commercials on Tv like a bad politics campain Android does this and Iphone OS doesent do that. Maybe more people would jump on the Android bandwagon. Also wih AT&T's bad data plans why would anyone want an Iphone 4, with all the data I use I sure dont want to loose my unlimited data plan. I'm not Google so who knows whats going on.

I dont think It will throw a wrench in Apples plans. I say this because theres average people out there that just care for the name "Iphone". So if google releases there update prior to that it wouldnt matter because theres alot of people out there that dont even know what froyo is. Nothing against android or anything of that nature because im android all the way. Its just that I dont see the effect of releasing it the day before since there arent too many "average" people out there that are aware of the update. thats just my opinion though.
If I were Google, I'd release it when it's ready and rid of bugs. I don't really think Google is concerned about the timing of iPhone 4 preorders. They just need to keep making quality products and people will see the light.
I see your point but maybe it would get the average user thinking. I did I had all the previous Iphones and thought apple was the greatest until I got tired of the same old stuff. I did some browsing about the nexus one and said maybe I'll jump ship. I jumped and never turned back I currently own 2 Nexus Ones for me and the wife who loves the phone.
Is true that HTC and Apple are competitors. But in my opinion each of them make 2 different cellphones that targets 2 different kinds of consumers. Allthough they share alot of the same functionallity i think they are WAY apart from eachother. I have had both side by side but i fall on HTC because of my personal opinion and the vast things you can do with the N1. BUT i do think Apple make a fine product and sports a phone with a funtionality that does work VERY well. The big difference is of course the open source vs not open source. I think HTC is way more forward on new functionalities while Apple does follow behind because honestly they haven't really done anything more innovative with their phone since they launched the iPhone. But the phone has what most people need. It contain a very stable OS that rarely fail on you, while we are never ending experimenting on combining kernels, radios and ROM's to get the best out of the N1. It's two different phones alltogether, just choose your side. I don't piss on anyone who ditches their HTC for a iPhone. To me Apple and HTC aren't really competitors. I think both does a good job with their products. It has always been the hassle about the End-User agreement all together.
So recently i have come to terms with these two companies that, whatever happens, what they do i don't give a friggin damn really. they both make fine products.
Because we really are geeks aren't we? that is why we love the N1/HTC and not iPhone
Predict the next set of Lotto numbers while you're here, please.
I agree, specially coz I cant wait for Froyo to come out. But IMO, timing the FroYo release prior to the iPhones pre purchase day will do very little or no effect. IPhone will always be most popular, Apple's marketing strategy is par to none. They attract a broad market of people from all walks of life. And since only a few percentage of the population are techies, most of us could care less about how great an open source device is, android's unlimited potential and the things it can do that the iPhone might not.
Although i would love to see Google/Android dominate the technology and phone industry, competition is always healthy for us consumers, and for as long as competition exist, we can all be assured our Nexus and our future android devices will always get better.

If I were Google I would have released Froyo on June 30, 2007 and then I would have kicked Steve Jobs in the balls just for the fun of it. This year, I would have released Android 3.5, Horchata, about 10 minutes ago because that's when I would have wanted to be playing with it.
If only Google was as awesome as me. Alas.
If I were Google I'd post on this forum and tell people to stop posting stupid threads like this. How many "My froyo release date prediction" threads do you really need on a single forum? Make a megathread or stfu already, no one cares when you think Google should do something.
If you were Google you should ignore threads like these. And concentrate on fixing whatever issues you currently have on FroYo and release it to the public ASAP. You should expect impatient people ranting here, after all this thread isn't violating any forum rules, and if it is, the MODs would've closed this already.
Mr. Google you shouldnt let little things frustrate you. Just saying

You're right about apples advertising, hands down the best in their field. Of course, google refuses to advertise on television so who knows whether they could compete. Personally I'd like to see what google could do on TV . Imagine what they could've done with the nexus if they tried. Its a really curious decision, I'm interested in Google's strategy of avoiding proven successful advertising techniques...that's why nexus sales don't phase me, because google didn't try to sell it so I'm convinced they didn't even really want to sell it. Maybe they wanted to get it out, then really push it when better features/updates came about. Oh well who knows, i could speculate all day. Anyway I still trust google knows what they're doing, for now at least...

microsoft was winning by a long shot for awhile but android is totally dominating now... lol
its a really stupid poll really, its too general... for everyday use I would say they are all equal, android only having a slight advantage because of flash mobile... but even then I know a lot of dumbass droid users that all have 2.2 but dont have flash installed cuz they are clueless about its existence or even its use...

UPDATE: Phandroid Quote:
"It looks like someone didn’t take too kindly to what appeared to be rigged voting in Wall Street Journal’s poll yesterday asking “who makes the best mobile operating system?” After Google seemed to get ahead of the pack after at least 9,000 legitimate votes, Windows fan sites have been rallying up to take them down and put Microsoft ahead. The tide has turned yet again, but this time it’s a lot more numerous. According to the poll today, Google now makes the best operating system owning 94.4% of the votes. A whopping 357,000 votes have come in for them, so far, leaving everyone as far behind as far can get. We’re sure this is the result of an Android lover who wouldn’t take the insult of rigged voting lying down."

iPhone user is speechless over the Note

I don't have a note yet,(epic touch 4g user), but I really want one..
Anyways, I thought you would get a kick out of seeing what a iPhone users' reaction was when confronted with a challenge from this phone..
Funny stuff!

"My phone cant do anything that phone can"
Priceless.
I love reading the comments and iPhone Fanboys getting mad.
yep, the comments are even funnier than the video!
Ha! Yeah, the comments are great. It's almost like some people are offended by it's existence, and HAVE to hate on it.
In saying that, it was a pretty unfair test. But in saying THAT, she is the 'typical' iPhone user.
They were just showing the "unique" features powered by the S-Pen.
Kinda don't see the point :\
Comments are funny!
I agree the tests were too slanted toward the Note, but it was designed to show what it can do that the iPhone cannot. I am not sure you cannot get an app to edit PowerPoint files, but the rest would be quite difficult without some very sophisticated software. The photo editing and screenshot / drawing is all, but it makes a great point!
The fact is this is marketing. Nothing has to be true or fair. As is being argued in comments, Apple tried exactly this with the caricatures of the Apple vs PC users. Payback's a *****, guys!
I believe the iPhone was a great phone when it was created. The iPad was also a great idea, much better than the laggy Windows Tablets. Some of the best things about these have been copied in Android. The painful truth is that the phone and pad have not improved. The painful reason is the same one that Apple, who started with the first commonly available GUI (I know about X-Windows, before you start, heck, I used to use it, but it was not in common use). That reason is a lack of change. The reason for that reason? A closed platform, and for both hardware and software.
Look at what happened to the very open architecture of the IBM PC in the same time frame. Look what is happening to Android devices in the same time frame. I think the reason for the stagnation is clear.
Love it. The ismall can't compete
From the Beast : Galaxy Note
Prior to the GNote I had owned every iteration of iPhone since it was first released (preceded by Windows Mobile phones, Pocket PC's, and almost every model of Palm devices up to the IIIc). So far, the GNote is by far the most functional device I have owned. Since I am using it to replace a 4s and iPad 2, I have not found it to be too large - in fact, if it was another 1/2 inch I wouldn't mind (that's what she said <g>).
Anyways, no regrets with my decision to jump ship. Great device!
The comments are what makes the video.
it's a little sad that even though the note has its major advantages over ip4s, commercials like this will most likely return as bad publicity
As much as I love the Note, and as much as I love seeing Android put Apple to shame, I do think it would be a much fairer test if the 4S were pitted up against the GS2 i9100. The GS2 was considered the best smartphone of 2011, and it's no wonder! Love that thing!

Don't they say that any publicity is good?
Yeah the comparison is stacked as I can do all those things with my wife's Iphone albeit with third party apps and so would any self respecting geek. Then again so are Iphone commercials, as is latest windows challenge.
It is almost imperative that advertising not be fair.
The reality is that the lady is just average consumer and as such, they are pretty dumb.
Hell, in my immediately circle of family and friends there's about 20 iphones and none of them know anything past calling, checking messages, emails and Facebook.
Not cool Sammy
I Love the Galaxy Note, but this time I feel embarrassed and ashamed by this ad.
Samsung went too low with this.
If I go to the street with my 7 year old Windows Mobile, and run a similar test against most recent android phones, what will I prove?
Besides, there are capacitive stylus for iPhones, and if it was an iPhone user with one of these capacitive stylus to make a similar add against any unprepared android user, it will have the same result.
I understand there are a lot of iPhone haters around here, but one thing is that we know our phone is better that an iPhone for many reasons, other is to offend and ridicule others because they don't follow you.
The original web ads about the features were so much more "Woweeee! I want that!" for me....
Just ran a sun spider bench mark and got 1331. So a lot better than 4s. Its obvious how the devices differ and which device is clearly superior. No idea why apple fan boys get so crazy when a better device than theirs gets released though. If another company releases a higher spec device... why does it matter. Its almost certainly gonna happen to us note users at some point. But I take pride at the moment.

Soooo many dislikes on that video. We have to spread the word on this.
The point is: They got your attention and got YOU talking.
Its already a success due to that.
Apple already does similar marketing strategies. So I dont get why there's so much hate
Oh i am so in love with that girl. And now she she like Android so all is well
I wouldn't say "speechless". ***** wouldn't stop talking.
What I don't understand is why so many Note users dislike this ad so much. It's not like this is the only commercial out there that is 'unfair' to its competition.

I have owned Macs since the early 90s, but the iphone in my opinion is a kids toy, compared to Andriod based phones (much more customize-able, and "hack-able")

I'm fed up with apple BS. I just had an argument this morning about android and ios with one of my close friend's who's also in IT. I'm an android fanboy but i can clearly say without any hesitation that apple does make great products. I had an iphone4, an ipad, and an apple tv. Good stuff. As much as I like their stuff, I don't think it's necessarily better; Just different. I like having a choice. I've been with android since day one and know that android is just as capable as any ios device, and in some cases more capable. I love than I can get a phone in any size shape or color from any carrier. Apple people think that's bad for some reason.
Ever listen to any of their presentations? They sound like this.
"70% of apple users upgrade to the latest version of our OS 100% more than any other OS. Today we're announcing that everyone can get the latest version for only... $20"
Does that make any sense to you? They actually said something like this at WWDC2012. Every one of their slides and charts has all sorts of skewed information and apple sheep eat it right up. Like when they say that the ipad has over 200k apps designed for it, then they diss android. But they don't mention that every single android app since ICS built for both phones and tablets. Nah they leave that part out.
Apple gets praised for selling OS updates for $20.
Windows gets slammed for giving people service packs for free.
Apple gets praise for updating it's last two iphones, but google gets slammed for only upgrading their last two and not the every other manufacturers phones. It seems unfair, and simply childish at this point trying to talk to apple people. God (for those who believe in him/her) could come from heaven and say that Android is really better, and apple people would still deny it.
This writer should be ashamed of himself for not only drinking the cool-aid, but for letting it skew his review and putting out bad information to consumers.

"Compared to the Galaxy S II, the newer Galaxy S III looks plasticy and somewhat poorly built. The back panel is a single bendable plastic glossy slab, and the front is all display. Compare that with the iPhone, or any recent high-end smartphone, and the GS3 looks like a kids toy from the back. "
"My opinion is that iOS is still the stronger operating system; it’s simpler, easier to manage, and anyone switching between the two OS’s will be better off with iOS in any case."
"Samsung has included some great additions using their user interface, but it isn’t likely going to make the overall OS better than iOS. "
I don't think the guy has even held a gs3. And a simpler os does not make a better os. And any iphone ive used is always cluttered because the home screen holds all the apps.
...

Dear uninformed,
Wow is all I have to say! I own several smartphones and one of those is a US Galaxy S3 variamt. I'm well aware that you did not ever actually use one of them before you wrote this review.
If you in fact have used any of them, then you have zero credibility when it comes to technology! Even if you don't care for the phone, which I personally like but there are others I care for more, your conclusions of outdated processor, bad camcorder, and camera is not as good as the s2, are so completely far off from what is obvious to even a smartphone beginner!
