I love the Epic and Android but... - Epic 4G General

For the love of everything holy can Google get the god damn market to work correctly for at least a single day in a row? Then maybe slowly work up to a full week?
Every god damn day I run into the infamous downloads won't start because I can't sign into Google Talk issue. Or just days where a download even when signed into Google talk takes 8 and 1/2 years to start downloading.
Now, today, for hours and hours and hours every download is unsuccessful. I tried every STUPID magician trick and cache clearing known and still nothing.
God dammit this is annoying. Looking at their support forum shows this is a common every day occurrence.
/rant off

I haven't really experienced any problems specifically with the market. Sometimes the data/4g connections seem to get tangled up and confused on which one should be active and it takes a minute to connect and sort out, but then it's golden.

Good to know that its not just me that has issues signing into google talk on almost a daily basis

I fired up my HEro this week, had a similar issue.. it was weird.. It appeared to be my password.. although... everything else sync'd correctly. I just redid my password in the sync portion and it's been flawless ever since.

Works fine for me. ::shrug::

If you have gtalk signing in problem, do you use any automatic task killer running?
I have never used task killer with my epic and had no problem with market. My gtalk is constantly running in the background. Don't kill that service.

From my understanding, your issue today is probably due to the fact that Google DDOS'd themselves
http://www.reddit.com/r/Android/comments/dxwii/did_google_just_ddos_itself/
http://twitter.com/AndroidDev

Evo user here... experiencing the same ridiculous issue. I called Sprint twice, and their "solutions" were
- Full data wipe
- Blame Google
- "Reinstall the Talk app" (I had to explain it came with the phone)
I was considering exchanging my Evo for an Epic because of this issue... but not after I found this thread :|

*checks market*
nope flawless here, only ever had 1 issue with the market, owned an Android phone for 2 years now.

Never used a task killer, and I have the gtalk issue on three android phones. Never had the market issue though, or at least never noticed it. Whenever I'm on 4G or wifi and move out of connnection range, or whenever i get a call, my phone takes anywhere between a few minutes to 30 minutes to reconnect to gtalk if I was previously online. This happens even when i have full 3G service. I have this issue on a rooted Epic, rooted Evo, and unrooted Evo. Each never use a task killer, since IMO they arent needed. I've even wiped each phone of all data for a fresh start in case there was an app causing some issue. Nothing. I never noticed this on my hero. I cant seem to figure out what the cause is, but it is quite annoying since the majority of my friends and coworkers use gtalk instead of text while at work.

I too am having tie issue. I'm on my third epic now (swapped for other reasons) and I have this issue about 50% of the time. Very frustrating!
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

Also, I had this problem on all 3 of my epics and my evo before that about half the time on each of them. This is over the last few months (all four of them I've had since August).
Sent from my SPH-D700 using XDA App

market is working flawlessly here.

yeah, most of us experienced the same problem yesterday. Going to wifi from 3g fixed it for me actually...
that being said it was very annoying. but it wasn't just you and it wasn't just epics. it was pretty much most androids

Now, does this only happen because you guys are using Google Talk? I've never used that application so obviously I've never had any sign in issues or the like. I've also never had any issues with the market.

You guys don't know the secret behind poking, huh? I used to do some facebook hacking before they cracked down on it. The thing is, when you poke someone, you have acess to a temporary page that displays information that would usually be private, including features. It's a stalker feature in fb for sure, but try it out. It's a great thing to do when you don't want to send a friend request but still want to stalk the person..\

and I'm happy to report that... FINALLY!.. I don't have partial wake lock with this update.. jesus, took them long enough.
.1 didn't work for me, even after uninstalling facebook and completely reinstalling. .2 fixed it, but only after a full install again.
This new update broke notifications (takes you to the website, again), which had been fixed in the last update.
How to you completely uninstall the Facebook application. I only have the option to "uninstall updates", I can't uninstall the app (not from the market front, or the Applications -> Manage -> Facebook). I am not rooted and have never seen this before. And yes, I am not trying to remove the Facebook for HTC Sense, I am trying to remove the katana one. 1.3.2 is still in my running services even though I have all notifications turned off and refresh turned off. 1.2 never showed up in the running services location.
ohhhhh the new update broke notifications? so how do i get the new update and which facebook is this, htc sense or regular
So they update the app so the last 6 people with 1.5 can install the app, and it breaks notifications for all of us.

Is anyone still having issues with the awake time bug. 1.3.2 is causing my phone to stay awake
My notifications, even on the last update, have always always always taken me to the website.
I had been running the last version without the partial wake bug (1.2.9? 1.3.0? I forget) and upgraded to this today. Immediately went back to constant partial wake time. I just uninstalled the entire app for now but are you saying that a complete uninstall then reinstall of the new version will get rid of this issue? I don't really care too much because the regular site works just fine. I just figure I will use the application if it's not raping my battery in exchange for saving me 2 seconds of opening a bookmark.

my market has been acting up for a couple days now and its still doing it anyone know of a fix? I thought it was my rom but I've wiped and flashed a different rom and still the same problem.
mine loads fine but when i go to download an app the download arrow pops up for a sec then goes away and it never finishes downloading... good to know it's not just me
I'm having far worse problems with my phone. I started out with the market going slow, clicking to download an app, then waiting 5 to 10 minuets until the download starts. Then came the network errors on the market, taking 12 hours for downloads to start. Now, finally, when I type in www.google.com in my browser, my phone just sits there, looking at me like I'm stupid.
I can go to bing, yahoo, xda, penny-arcade, kotaku. I just can't go to any site related to google, on an operating system coded, ran, and maintained by google. Correct me if I'm wrong, but that's the definition of irony.
Anyway, if it helps any, I'm running 2.2 cm6, flashed between that and Zenhero 2.1 and the stock rom, doing factory wipes, and both regular and davlik(sp?) cache wipes in between.
Weird, I've had no issues to speak of, running cm6 830 and now 831

So, i noticed all my calls were dying and getting disconnected shortly after the screen goes into sleep mode
that was a major pain in the bullock, and it was very embarrassing talking to the customers and getting DC-ed every few seconds or minutes.
i had to constantly keep touch the screen to keep the phone from going into sleep mode.
so the only work around at the moment is set to phone to never sleep
and sleep only when i hit the power button.

Maybe try asking over in the Bionix thread to let those dev's know you're having an issue.
That's a new one to me.
Love the title of this topic. I feel the same exact way so often about it, though I've never had your specific issue.
*Losing data connection constantly (and no, NoBars doesn't seem to help me with this)
*Rebooting during longer calls (though I don't have this issue as much as some seem to)
*Every SINGLE download, be it Market or Browser is always unsucessful on the first (or second, or third...) attempt
*The fact that Google hasn't fixed these and other issues

2.3.4 random google server disconnects

All -
Just wanted to see if anyone else was having an issue where after a manual 2.3.4 update the Nexus S will regularly "go white" (lose google server connection) and then reconnect throughout the day more than normal?
It's getting annoying not having my emails pushed on time and don't know if I need to reflash the 2.3.3 radio then let the OTA do its thing.
THanks!
I have the same symptom.
However, mine started since 2.3.3
For some reason, I used to think was related to me logging in Google Chrome
web browser with the same account as my phone uses, but I don't think that
was really the cause. ( I'm not talking about just gmail website log in, I'm talking
about literally the sync of Google Chrome web browser with my gmail account that
I use on my phone.)
Even after the update to 2.3.4, its stilll the same.
Random loss of google server connection and remaining in white for brief time.
I did factory reset few times just to see if it'd fix, but no luck, yet.
I've been having this issue too ever since I got on 2.3.4. It doesn't seem to happen when I'm on wifi though. I got my update over the air too, if that matters.
Sent from my Nexus S using Tapatalk
It's been happening to me for a while as well. Even back in 2.3.3 when I was on CM7 and OEM. I seriously think it's a problem on Google's side and they really need to address it because it keeps logging me off of Gtalk which is annoying.
I'm having the same problem since April 14, I've tried everything flashing stock 2.3.1-2-3-4, CM7, changing Apn setting, changing my sim card, factory resets and nothing works.
This is definitely coming from Google's side, please post in the google help forums to get the word out to google, this is a serious problem.
Sent from my Nexus S using XDA Premium App
myself have noticed this since 2.3.4 although I think it's google end not the rom itself.
don't like it because the more often it happens... the more your battery is used...
hope it's not our carriers...

There's a thread on this in the help forums but since I'm a n00b i can't post the link here. Search for the help thread titled "Nexus S Google connection on & off "
Thanks! Let's get this fixed.
Four months ago this thread was created. Still not a word from Google.
If you go to Google's help forum here: http://www.google.vu/support/forum/p/Google+Mobile/thread?tid=7c7a962fd3ae87e2&hl=en
You can see that the last response from anyone at Google was from 2 months back. This issue need to be fixed, but it looks like Google could care less. Maybe if we get the word out to Android Central and other Android blogs, or even Gizmodo or Engadget Google will actually take notice and try to fix this.

anything you did specifically yesterday? install an app. do an update?
also has anyone tried factory resetting their phone?
I got my Airave a few days ago and I am constantly disconnected from Google's servers unless I am on wifi. The stupid thing about that is my Airave connects directly to my modem before the router. This is telling me it must be a carrier thing.
I'm seeing something similar but it has to do with switching between 3g and wifi. The green doesn't come in for like 3 to 4 minutes. If I launch gtalk it sits there at logging in and nothing happens.

I'm willing to conclude based on the widespread nature of this issue that it's an issue on Google's end that has recently been affecting a larger number of people.
I've never had this issue before.. and recently it's started. In fact, I even have seen a few FC's (force closes) of the Google Apps process which I had never seen before. I'm on stock 2.3.4 BTW.

[RPC:S-5:AEC-0]

This post is not really a cry for help. Just throwing this out here. I've been having problems with this error message ([RPC:S-5:AEC-0]) that I'm getting from the playstore for about almost a week now. I first experienced this after I saw quite a few update notifications on my phone. When I tapped on the update button, none of the apps updated and I got this error message instead, So I googled information on how I can fix it and found out the following
1. Clear data and/or cache on the following
- Downloads
- Google Play Store
- Google Service Framework
2. Remove and re-add google account from device
3. Factory reset
None of the methods above worked for me. I even tried accessing my paid apps from my pc by going to https://play.google.com/. Unfortunately, I also got an error message when I clicked on the "My Android Apps" link. Take note that I tried doing all these with different ISPs so issue is definitely not with my internet connection as well.
I've already contacted the google play support group and I was told that this issue has been going on and unresolved since October of 2012. The google techs are stummped and don't have the slightest idea of what's causing the problem. They can't even give me a time frame of when this will be resolved. They asked me to send bug reports from my devices which I did although I know for a fact that this problem is not being caused by any of my devices.
I'm pretty much stuck with a useless smart phone and tablet since I did a factory reset on both and I'm unable to redownload all of my apps including the ones that I have purchased...
I attached a few screenshots from my N7000 and Nexus 7 and my PC as well showing the errors.
This is how google wants to solve my issue... BY RIPPING ME OFF!!!

A thread started on Google Plus today about it as well. Happening across all devices and ROMs to a significant number of users.

Just talked to one of the google techs again today. This is really getting out of hand crazy! They have sent me numerous emails asking me to do the same thing over and over. It's like they don't even check on previous documentation that I have responded to telling them that none of the trouble shooting they told me to do worked. To top it all off, we started discussing about refunds. I was told that thier policy is they can only do the last 6 months. I have so many paid applications that I have accumulated for the last year and a half! A lot of the ones I use the most have been purchased more than 6 months ago, Then she tells me that I'd have to talk to the individual 3rd party developers and ask them for a refund. I mean, why would a developer refund me if it's not even thier fault that this issue is happening. This is all google!
Did you tried it on another android phone with your login id

Note, S3, Nexus 7 and my desktop PC. I've done it all sir. Nothing else you can say would be any different from the ones that I've already read from all the forums. This is an issue from google's side affecting several accounts.

In the same boat across multiple devices and very frustrated. Hopefully this is becoming a very widespread issue and will get more attention with Google's higher level techs and developers.
I was having this issue, and all the normal steps didn't help. I called Google, they were no help, other than to say it was a known issue. I tried removing my Google account, and clearing the cache/data for Google Service Framework and Play Store apps - nothing worked
Then I tried clearing the cache/data on Google Play Services, on the off chance that this might be the culprit and after a reboot everything is working great again.
Hope this will help some of the other folks who are struggling with this.
Exact Steps:
1) Open Settings->Apps
2) Select Google Play Store
3) Clear Cache and Force Stop
4) Select Google Framework Services
5) Clear Data and Force Stop
6) Select Google Play Services
7) Clear Data and Force Stop
8) Reboot
Why are you ****ting On Us Google?
On another forum, a poster had this to say about this RPC:S-5:AEC-0 problem:
I don't believe this has anything to do with what is running on the device...whether its 4.2.2 or 4.1.2. It's simply an issue with corruption in the Google Play account on Google's servers. The lack of any fix for this or a workaround is abysmal on Google's part. I have paid apps that will no longer run because Google Play no longer recognizes them as paid apps. I have wasted numerous hours trying to get this resolved with escalated calls to Google support. Basically, anyone who is affected by this account "corruption" issue is currently screwed with no fix in sight. This needs to get major media attention or possible class action status before Google gets serious and fixes this acknowledged issue they've known about for several months now.

That is a good summary of the issue.
Google knows all about this.
It's endemic and the worst part about it is that Google is ignoring it.
There has been one simple post by Google -- in March -- saying they were working on the problem, and then a one-line addendum in April to say that they were still working on the problem.
THIS IS NOT ONLY ABSURD, BUT UNACCEPTABLE.
I've tried every effing solution that's been posted -- and none works.
I'm sick to the back teeth about the crap that GOOGLE thinks I can take. I'm just steaming mad.
The sheer inconvenience and time-wasting is mind numbing.
Am I pissed off at Google. You betcha.
Do I scream at Google, What do you think!
How can Google sit back and do nothing about this for months. (And don't point me to the lame suggestions of a work around like: Clear the cache in the Play Store app; clear the data in the Google Services framework; delete and reinstall the offending account .... etc etc etc. I've tried every one and more. Even tried deleting the whole OS and reinstalling,; tried factory reset.
THIS IS CRAP AND GOOGLE KNOWS IT.
Setting up a new gmail account is not practicable as the Google user base has a huge investment in their Play Store account by way of the money they've paid to Google for apps which Google is fraudulently now stopping them from using.
The problem appears to be tied to the link between the kernel and the play store account. If a user starts a whole new account, then there is no problem for that new account. However, for Android's database of users, this is not a practicable solution as that base of users has an investment in their Play Store account -- not the least of which is in the value of the apps that they have paid for to date.
MY QUESTION IS: WHY ARE YOU ****TING ON US - YOUR LOYAL USERS - GOOGLE?
Another question: How do we escalate this into main stream media so that Google has to get off their fat arse and fix the proble? Any ideas would be helpful.
Looks like google finally fixed the issue. My apps finally started updating today with no errors.

This is NOT a time to pat Google on the back
Last night, shortly after posting my rant on this forum, I went to the app store to see if I could get some sense out of the bloody thing. Lo and Behold! It was all go!!!!
Now while I like to think -- in my hedonostoc idle moments -- that it was my posting on this forum that did the trick, reality tells me that Google had been working on this for some time and that the fix was in place coincidentally at approximately 10pm NZ time yesterday (12th June 2013).
Why am I being so pedantic about the time.
Simple.
Google, quite clearly, must have been working on this for some time in order for the fix to be put in place at that precise moment. The problem with this conduct though, is that they did NOT at any time inform its constituency that it had even acknowledged that there was this effing problem in the first place. A lot of good people have been mystified, frustrated, angry, confused and suspicious by this smorgasbord of crap that Google has dished up and even felt that they had no option but to eat the **** sandwich presented to them.
SO, if Google thinks that this lowly serf is going to thank them for getting rid of the RPC:S-5:AEC-0 bug, then they need to take their heads out of the arses and smell the real world, 'cos it aint going to happen.
At the very least I would expect Google to make some gesture to its user base to placate them after the harrowing ordeal that their incompetence has put them through.
Enough said.
Unless or until this rears its ugly head again.

Why? I'm talking about new app not existed one,but I should write install/uninstall(not uninstall/install). It's not important anymore if the others have the same problem...
P.S. ...and it's solved...
