Hi, I've been using the Darkstone Froyo 2.2 build for a full glorious month now.
But sadly, 3 hours ago, my HD2 crashed while playing a GBA emulator.
Usually the GBA emulator crashes once in a while but this time, I don't know what happen
After 5-6 boot ups, It'll only go into the base rom (ChuckyROM) and I took out the SD card for a check up on the PC.
And funny thing is, it works fine
But it won't read on the phone at all
so guys, help me in this. Do I need some sort of new ROM or did I just screwed the HD2's card reader for good?
And if this was previously talked about, I'm sorry for posting another thread though, I didn't found any threads that suit my matter.
- A sad boy.
In future please post any questions in the Q+A Forum. Thank you.
Mark.
I would copy all contents over to your PC then format the card, put a file on there then see if it can be read.If so copy all files back and you should be ok.I had the same prob a while ago and that sorted me out.
maybe this is the sign of memory card will be failed in future, better you backup your sdcard on computer now while it is readable
Alrighty guys! Thanks!

Hi there, thanx again and again for your eccellent work!
I got into a heavy rain the other day and when I picked my toy from the waterproof compartement of my backback it was completely soaked!
And after a lot of fancy flashing and ringing, that I could only stop by hard resetting it, it went dead altogether.
Now it dried up again I'm kind of surprised to find it actually works again only it obviously lost all it's memory. And after honestly following every single thread and reading every post, I give up and finally post a question.
Used to be Rom 3.14 and Radio Stack 3.16.xx (I don't remember) all german O2. Bootloader 5.15.
My problem is, that whenever I try to get a rom image (the newest version of the german Programm A - which is an .nbf file after extracting)
onto my SD card (Scandisk 256 MB), it will stop immediately after I hit the OK Button in the XDArite App, outputting 'Successfully copied image of 65538 blocks'. Obviously it didn't because I figure it would need quite some minutes to copy 30 MB of data onto the SD card. And the bootloader doesn't recognise anything on the card.
In the beginning I could read the card under XP and could save all my data, but now after trying XDArit a couple of times I can't read the card anymore under XP (it still shows up as a removable Harddisk in the explorer but Windows can't even format the card anymore). :?
Does anybody have any suggestions on that matter, I would very much appreciate that!!
Have you recently downloaded the new version of XDArit? If so: be advised that there's now two other people that seem to be having problems they did not have on the first version. So you could try the old version, still around at http://xda-developers.com/XDArit/old
You may to also read the page for the warning on the old version.
(We created /old/ subdirs for all our software, by the way)
XDArit needs a rehaul, and we know it. We currently don't have much time, and this would be a good project for a coding volunteer. We have plenty of good ideas as to what should be in there.
Same problem, It doesn't actualy write to the card ?
Same problem... this is how I fixed it... the old version may work better for you (but I've never used it). http://www.xda-developers.com/forum/viewtopic.php?t=1451
Thanks for your reply, Ive requested assistance from the author of the post you suggest, but i`ll ask you the same question. Any chance of the recompiled file so that I could try it.
Many thanks in advance BORIS.
Hey all, I've been browsing around the forums trying to find answers but I must not be fully comprehending what's being explained.
I recently got a HTC HD2 (Person sent wrong phone on eBay - Purchased a HTC Desire after 4 weeks receive HD2 can't be without a phone for another month or 2). After playing around with Windows Mobile OS I have decided that I don't enjoy the experience of using the phone and have decided to try and flash Android to the device (thus why I am here).
I'm about to update the ROM to the latest official ROM from the HTC website (to update the Radio to get ready for flashing) however my problem lies after this.
I currently have a 2GB MicroSD card. "A breif guide to installing and maintaining Android" recommends a 4GB MicroSD card where others say I may use a 512MB MicroSD card. Thus leading to my confusion in flashing my device.
If anyone could point me in the right direction with the size of the sdcard I need and a "fool-proof" guide to flashing, or even a guide written for the average Joe to understand I would appreciate it.
Kind regards.
Well firstly, it doesnt matter what size of card you have aslong as it can hold the android files and your data.img (internal storage file).
Second, You can not currenly "flash" any android to your phone, You only have the ability to reboot your phone into android OS and this would be ran from your sd card, Your phone in no way will be altered or flashed with any rom.
I will not attempt to tell you how to accomplish this as its a ridiculous question to ask as its obviously a faq and has been asked too many times and answered too many times..

Thank you for the quick response. I've been reading all I can here, however, it seems that everything is going over my head (such as things like SPL and Radio Versions). I'm not looking for a free ride with doing this, I'm just trying to find some assistance in a way I can understand.
Mods, please close this thread. I have solved my problem.
Kind regards.
First of all, really big KUDOS MUCHACHOS to the CM7 Dev guys! I had already donated a pretty hefty amount due to using CM7 so much on my Evo but I donated again cuz this is awesome! I do have a couple of questions tho, which I can't fine answers to. I did search for them but really had no luck. The NC community is not yet as organized as the EVO one, I am getting conflicting information and in general having a really ***** of a time finding anything so sorry if some of this has been answered(Im sure that's likely the case at least for some of them).
I used the size-agnostic SD card thing to make the SD Card i had into a CM7 install. Running the latest stable(as of 2 days ago). But thing of moving it all to internal memory. So here are my questions.
1: If I do this, will I be able to still access the real NC OS that shipped with the device? The Nook for Android app sucks, it won't play several of the books I already got(says they are invalid format when I try to DL them) so it is imperative to me that I keep access to the NC OS i have now(but I wouldn't care if it were on the SD card as long as it worked for reading books).
2: What will CM7 be like if I do this? I am gonna assume it won't take so long to boot anymore? Will it basically be a giant phone? Full access to the SD card? Still able to use the internal memory as storage(I use it to store music now)? Work exactly like my Evo does now? Except that it won't make calls of course.
3: Rooting. It seems that so many people are running CM7 that the guides/walkthroughs on rooting are hard to find. So a simple question or two pls Which method should I use? What, if any, are the drawbacks? I would still run CM7 most of the time but while in NC OS to read or something it would be nice to have access to android market etc as long as it wont effect my install of CM7.
4: CM7 nightlies. Can I run them from the SD card as well? If so can I just flash them right over my current SD card install without losing everything?
5: Can i run the OC Kernal while running CM7 from the SD card or do I have to run on Internal Memory for that to be possible?
Thanks for taking the time to read this pls answer any questions that you can I'd appreciate it so much!

I'll answer what I can.
1: Nope, stock ROM is replaced when you install CM7 to emmc. No way around it.
2: I'll have to defer on this one, I've always run from SD card. BTW, you are running from a class 2 card, right? The "faster" cards have serious issues.
3: My understanding is that you have to use ManualNooter for B&N 1.2. I haven't gotten around to rooting it since I upgraded to 1.2, but it was painless on the earlier ROM. There were no drawbacks, besides the fact that it's not CM7. ;-)
4: Yup, they just flash right over just as long as your following verygreen's instructions.
5: Yup, OC from SD works fine.
I don't know the specs on my SD card, it's whatever came with my EVO. I upgraded to a 32gb on the EVO so I used the old one for the Nook. My Evo is only a couple months old if that helps ya.

do you use winmo, and which rom do you want to flash, and what steps do you make?
Yes, i am using a winmo, HTC HD2
i tried many roms, and i am talking about the ROM, not android.
and on each ROM i tried to load different Android, but it still
do not work.........stuck on a screen every time
Basically i use "energy rom", http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=591784
and tried with American Android ((( this one worked on a first sd -card)))
steps from a beginning : i flash rom on my phone, after hard reset, i flash it from my PC. then i copy the "Android" folder on sd card of my phone, then with "file explorer" i enter the "android" file ((for example - AMERICAN ANDROID)) , i choose CLRCAD, (nothing happens) and then i choose the HARET and loading begins. after that just a screen with HTC logo, a black one. i waited for 20 min, and more - nothing changes. (( tried to reset and load again, same screen, no progress....))
i just have no idea what else to do....
been searching for solution for few days now.
some say that updating the rom helps, but done that.
When i were using winmo i were formatting my sd on such a case. If it doesn't work i was formatting winmo too.

for example - AMERICAN ANDROID....i take it from your writing.you must put the folder Android to sd card not american android folder. i mean
sd card/android/clrcad then haret. not sd card/american android/android/clrcad
of course, i understand it.
i read manual for 100 times now, just to be sure i am doing things right.
i know the basics.
so lets see :
format to phone and sd card - checked
updated rom - checked
different sd card - checked
different rom with different android - checked
if i think about it know - phone is not working that's why i can't install android.
but - every rom is working good and android did worked once on a old sd card.
so have no idea what to do next.
at first i wanted to copy files from sd card where Android did worked, so there were file named "data.img" , couldn't copy it. don't know why.
so, in order for android to work on a phone now , it must create same file now. maybe card is somehow protected and doesn't allow phone to do it................. but i can copy all other stuff on it.
my knowledge and fantasy just ends here, but it kills me that such a simple thing doesn't work.
and if it doesn't work on an old card either, so can't figure out what causing this problem.
i can lastly say: download a new copy of american android.wipe everything from your sd.unrar american android in your pc.find the android folder.copy android folder to your sd via usb or card reader.clrcad then haret. the rom creates a new data.img in first boot.this rom may take half an hour to load. because i use it also. sorry if i'm unable to help
i had the same problem installing AmeriCanAndroid. it seemed like you did everything right from what i could tell anyway. i would try a different sd build to see if thats the problem.

did try, makes no difference
what about you? did it help, switching sd card?
been trying now different Android, same thing.
@angel182
At the time i was a bit of a noob still am really but when i installed a new sd build i think it solved my problem. if i remember correctly i may have even tried a different winmo rom (omega) which may have helped as well. i really cant be to sure because its been some time now & my memory aint what it use to. lol.
I will say that if you ever want to go to a nand version and dont like it for what ever reason you can always switch back. I'm sorry I couldnt of been more help.
Read this
Let me know if it helped you.
Received my first HTC through the post yesterday and joined the site in an attempt to run android. I know nothing and there's an overwhelming amount of information on this site so just need someone to point me in the right direction.
Used this and followed instructions carefully: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=957652
My problem is after running clrcad.exe and haret.exe, the phone reset after a grey screen. Looked like it went well but now the SD card has disappeared from the file explorer and windows when connected through USB.
Any help appreciated, just want to get the SD card back up so I can format it and so on. Thanks.
I take it by the lack of replies that this isn't a common problem. It's kind of put me off trying any new ROM's as a simple procedure like this can't even go straight. Will have to stick with Winmo then
Im not quite sure anymore, but i dont think you are able to mount your sd as long as you use sd builds. I dont know if this is changing with an ext partition on your sd.
Just check out the NAND section. Its installed on your internal memory and not running from sd. WinMob will be fully deleted and replaced with Android, so first do a backup of contacts etc!!!
If you do not need WinMob for any kind of apps for work etc which arent ported to Android yet (which i dont think there are much NAND is the best solution for you.
Started like you with sd build 2years ago, too. But switched to NAND as soon as it was stable.
Now it is almost perfect.

How did you get the card to show again? Or did you buy a new one?
Just a thought, have you tried a soft reset? Switch phone off Take back cover of and press little red button for a few seconds, put cover back on reboot into android
Also make sure your SD card is formatted to 32kb (slow format)
