67mA when bluetooth on standby, Myth or Fact? - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Dear HD2 Lover.
I found 67mA on standby in hyperdroid1.7 , FroyoHD2 V3 , shubCRAFT V2.
- no any app installed.
- no pair with any device.
- if paired, it's still ~67mA.
- if disable bluetooth, it lower to 11mA.
Do you face this problem too? Only me have this problem?
-
Update : bluetooth able to consume only

Have exactly the same problem with Oct 26 Darkstone Froyov3

Booting into android with the keypad lights on is something that has helped many people (including myself). It took my standby mA from 69 to 5 (with bluetooth on but not connected to anything)

bluetooth is known to cause high battery drain on any device, same with wifi, keep them both off when you are not using it and you should see a much more reasonable drain, and 11 isnt horrible, android has poor battery management so you cant expect the same results as winmo.

I test enable on boot without success.

just reboot your system a few times (3-5+). Worked for me but i dont know why. Now just 3-6 mA in standby. Rebooting is the solution

I have bluetooth permanently on and usually get 6-10mA in standby.
John

Ok .from your comment, bluetooth should not leak the current if work properly, the 67ma is problem which sometime solve by rebooting.

I have rebooted several times and I am still getting 249 mA?!?!?

2.1 Blue Tooth Drain Issue ?? [6.35 Radio]

Since the Transition from 1.5 to 2.1 no the 6.35 radio bluetooth, when enabeled has kept hte phone from going to sleep, the vattery drains very quickly as well as the Phone is Quite warm.
Example:
on a 2.1 rom with Blue tooth Disabled the battery will fall to 50% in 24 hours, With Blue Tooth Enabled the battery will fall to 25% in only 6 hours.
where as on a 1.5 rom the battery drain will drain at a less then noticeable pace weather blue tooth is on or off.
-------------------------------
When Bluetooth Is enabled:
* Cell Standby uses most of my battery
* Awake Time Matches the amount of time the Blue tooth Is on
I have looked at the possible causes with no Success:
* Blue tooth Transfer
* PairableTimeout in main.inf
are there other that are experiencing this issue, Has anyone found a solution, i would like to have my bluetooth enabled all day long again.
Does anyone know a way i can strip the settings for blue tooth so i cant pair or file transfer or anything, except have my phone connect to one blue tooth headset with minimal battery drain.
Bluetooth draining battery is known issue on new radio. I've messaged Sanpei about this and he is looking into it. It may take him sometime to fix this since he is a busy man
If you are like me that needs to use bluetooth, you will have to revert back to ROMs with old radio

no, you don't need to revert back to old radio
you just need to flash back stock rom
that's the only rom that doesn't have this issue
I confirm! I've written many times, but this problem has been ignored.

Omg people, it has not been ignored, but the man that made this kernel has a life of its own jeez....
People U think that fixing BUGs is like "finger click" ? Deva are doing this for free in spare time ... Ehhh ... Instead of complaining to devs please complain HTC :/
@Krzysiec and Klothius.
You do not write so. I respect and appreciate the work of developers (including Klothius). They work very hard and seriously as professionals. I understand that they working in their spare time. They "steal" time in their lives and at their family. They do all this for free.
I thank them and I respect them because they entertain us.
In my post I meant that I (along with others users) have often written of the problem, but none (or few people) replayed. Some answers ignored the problem: "replace the battery", "reset battery status","switch off the radio" etc..
Only a few days the community accepts that the problem is real.
... and now... I think that Sanpei has solved the problem.
Thanks.
Krzysiec and Klothius... you forgive me?
I see that you're saying the problem is solved. Could you provide a link to the solution? I am having the same issue. Streaming to my stereo Bluetooth is draining my battery in no time. Would like to quit having to use the wired headphones again. Thanks.

Battery Solution the **FINAL POST**

UPDATE Dec 9:
ALL i did was use Autoboot (Exceller Multiple Build Loader) set at 3 seconds
Try this setup if all else fails
Rom: ChuckyRom Lite HERE
Radio: 2.15.50.14 HERE
Droid: HyperDroid 1.7 HERE
AutoBoot: Exceller Multiple Build Loader for Android/Ubuntu HERE (Comes preinstalled in ChuckyRom)
PLEASE KEEP LEAVING RESULTS AS I TRY THEM, AND CAN UPDATE THE FIRST POST
10/25:
I have been reading and in a recent post I read HAVE THE BUTTON LIGHTS ON WHEN U BOOT ANDROID and u will save battery and its true try this!
AGAIN, PRESS A BUTTON IN WM AND HAVE THE KEYPAD LIGHTS ON.
THEN AS QUICKLY AS POSSIBLE BOOT ANDROID.
I AM CURRENTLY GETTING 3MA WITH SETCPU
I had to try this twice before it worked but THE KEY IS TO BOOT ANDROID AS SOON AS THE KEYPAD LIGHYS TURN ON!

I just posted this in another battery thread but I think the real key is booting Android as quickly as possible and not really the lights so much as I have achieved similar results just using Exceller Multiple Build Loader app and not even touching the keys/lights. C/P from the other thread-->
Tried different techniques to get better battery and found that even on the same build with exact same setup would give varying results. Here's my setup that I would like others to try and post their results. SetCpu with screen off profile set to 245min/max 100 priority and whatever main profile you like; but use conservative preferably or interactive for best battery performance. Any task killer that auto kills all tasks with screen off (be sure to add SetCPU to ignore list). And here is the most important step, use an auto android booting app with minimum boot time setting. I have been doing some experiments with this and found that if you boot into Android as soon as possible, it seems to give better battery performance as opposed to playing around in WM then booting Android. Have tried this with several WM/Android combos. For the first time ever I'm able to get comparable battery performance out of Android as WM. I'm running a bare bones WM (but should work with and WM rom) and using Exceller Multiple Build Loader app set to 3 secs. Even running several sense builds I was able to achieve 3-7 mA draw during standby according to current widget. Took my phone off the charger at about 6:30 a.m. and it is now 11:15 and I still have 25% battery left after pretty heavy usage on standard battery. This is as good or better than what I usually get from WM! Hope this helps.
This was the one thing that was ruining my Android on HD2 experience. I finally got this step right after a few tries.
I've been using it for two days now, and getting consistent 5-8mA readings on standby. There's definitely something to either booting Android quickly and/or hitting the back button to turn on the LED backlight on the buttons.
I just checked my phone, and it's reading 5mA.
And I don't even have SetCPU on my phone. Should I try it out?
I think HTC winmo sense is the culprit. I disable the sense in winmo and get very low Android battery usage during standby. Sometimes around 3mA.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
I also suggest to disable sense and put wmo in offline status.

why should turning off sense be good when it comes to battery usage under android? this would mean winmo and sense are running in the background of android...which is not the fact!

You had to try this 2 times before it worked yet you claim this is the final solution for battery drain problems?
i agree with you guys but let me just throw this observation into the mix here. i've read somrthing here in these forums regarding the sd card that came with the phone had something wrong with it ( don't really remember the exact issue ) and if you swapped it out for another sd card, there would be less SODs and a better battery as well.
i've tested this as i have a 4gb sd card and have had no problems whatsoever. everything runs smooth as silk. and, once again, the battery life is great.
NOTE: i do use the keypads lights on trick as well.

Most of us don't need to do keypad gymnastics to get those same results.
Just use the exceller boot loader and set it for 3 or 6 seconds. Having stuff turned off till you need it is a great way to preserve the battery.

Sorry thats all not working for me
i'm still having about 60 mA with VBNROM reloaded - 2.15.50.14/ Bangster 1.5 / Scandisk class 2 - 8 GB
I realley tryed everything and have read a lot of posts. I'm really distressed at the moment.
The best battery cosumption i ever experienced was with mccm 2.5 But that one was not stable for me.

1. Are you using SetCPU with a 245 max screen off profile? 2. Are you disabling WiFi, data and GPS when not using it? 3. Are you using a auto task killer with only SetCPU and Current Widget in ignore list? Also, I don't have 3g in my area but if you do I guess it could account for increased battery drain. If you're in an area that is in/out of coverage, this will cause higher battery drain as well. I get spotty coverage where I work and the battery drain is terrible.
Try mdeejay sense rEVOlution 2.0 androind build with your vbn wom rom - works great !
Try this:
1. switch phone radio off in winmo
2. power off and charge until green light comes on
3. boot winwmo on vbn, then immediately click on EBL
4. boot into mdeejay sense rEVO 2.0
5. turn sense off and use LauncherPro
I get *very good* battery life now with avg 5-7mA draw as evidenced by currentwidget.

1
boot into android as quick as possible, 3 or 6 seconds
disable gps location in android
activate the lights when haret is loading
disable wifi & 3g
disable hotspot
disable sync
running htc sense? try a build without it
and many more attempts
im finally at 3mA in airplane mode, 5mA on phone, 7mA with wifi, 20mA with wifi & 3g

no need for keypad gymnastics or other weird and wonderful combinations - before booting into Android, just use KeypadLedControl to force the keypad lights to stay on, then fire up Android using your loader of choice (I use Android Loader, modified to automatically call KeypadLedControl to turn on keypad lights, instead of just letting it run on WinMo startup).
Been rebooting 5-6 times now with consistent low 5-10ma standby current.

The Solution....kind of ;-)
Thx for u'r replys.
I considered all u'r tips and sry dudes it didn't work for me I think the problem was related to the Bangster Build, even though i have been lonesome with my issues.
I changed the LED lib, and tryed to let the LEDs on while booting, set CPU is in condervativ mode/screen off 245min/245max 100% interactiv. And yep, GPS and Wifi where off. I even searched for any SD-Card related Problems in regestry. But Chucky did some great work i think. (i switched again concernig to faster boot)
At some time i think each Leo is different to the other. I changed to Hyperdroid 1.7 with 2.14 Radio and the results are definitely mind blasting.
12 hours on the road, did some surfing, some calls, 2 h musik.
Strange though i used the same kernel and same Radio. Something must have gone wrong by flashing Bangster or something.

[Q] Battery use always exceeds 200mA and wifi tethering doesnt work.

Hello, I have been installing android builds on my HD2 for months now, and have to say the recent development has really left me with a great android phone.
One problem I find I have consistently is that I can never get the kind of battery usage others speak of. Mine trends at 350mA right now which seems wrong cause my battery life isnt THAT bad. and I have never had a build thats had better than 10%->hour.
I'm using ShubCRAFT 2.0 with the hastarian r8 kernel, chunkydroid ROM and 02.12 something radio, i also have an australian HD2.
I keep my screen quite dim, wifi and bluetooth off, no over or underclock (since r8 doesnt support it), no auto task killer.
And while I'm at it my wifi tethering should work based on my build and kernel but every time i check it it says "Error" and third party apps are a no go either.
Any insight would be greatly appreciated.
Also to all the devs, I love you, I want to carry your children.
i always make setcpu, max 619mhz min 254, screen off: max & min 254, auto task killer when screen off and i disable all auto sync, like facebook gmail etc.... im getting acceptable result, around 2 days with normal use

I had just finished reading that list and forgot to try the 3sec. boot which helped. I'm at 10mA now it makes no mention of the wifi tethering problem, any idea on the subject??
EDIT: It flew back up to 200+ after 5 minutes and hasnt gone back down since.
I get 14 Hours standby, but the phone is 4 hours aktivate! I use also chuckydroid. My radio rom is 2.12 and I use Froyostone series !

Possible soluition to fix 60mA: Enable GPS and wait for full sync

Hi friends.
I found the following coincedence.
When I install new build aparently CurrentWindget shows 60mA in stand by and no way to fix it to 5-7mA as it should be.
The solution which helps me to fix it is the following:
- enable GPS module in settings
- open Maps and wait for it to find where you are located
- go back to homescreen and put phone to stand by
It should be fixed now to 5-7mA current.
Hope it will help everyone.
I can even leave GPS module on all the time after that - standby current stays at 5-7mA level.

Very strange, but very cool if it works for you! I will give it a shot next time I see high battery drain. Thanks for sharing, it will help at least one other person if it helps you.
I've also found that switching Bluetooth off, then back on again, fixes this 60mA drain !
Common misconception: leaving GPS enabled in settings doesn't leave the GPS chip on the whole time. It just means that an app can enable it when it needs to (e.g. when you open Maps). As long as there's no GPS icon in your status bar, it doesn't drain *any* battery.
OT: that trick would be way faster than rebooting! Gonna try if it works for me too.
Really strange solution for this issue. I have the same problem but for this moment have drain about 5mA after quick boot with dualbootloader (wait time 3sec for Android load). For this moment 5mA in standby mode - with any enabled comm modules (WiFi,Bluetooth,GPS).

Why? I use it a lot...
To solve 60mA problem, each time you want to boot android:
1) when you are in windows mobile, lock the phone and turn the screen off by press end call button
2) wait few seconds and press it again to turn on screen
3) you see lock screen, unlock your phone
4) after that boot your android quickly within 10 seconds! (you can do it by creat shortcut of android on your home sceen)
I test it and solve problem for me on both mccm and mdeejay builds!

It was discussed hunderd of times. You dont need to free up mem in android 2.x
It has already a memory management built inside.
The only reason to use a task killer is to close an app that hangs or not properly close itself.
If you continue to kill your processes and backround apps just to free up ram, you will definitively drain more battery becaouse some of that apps will just load again automatically from SD or, when you open again one of them, it needs to load again from SD.

Exactly. And apps not closing properly is still not an excuse for using it. If the app is bad uninstall it or mail the dev to fixit, but don't go around screwing stuff up with a task killer.

Me to....i use 2!

Or everyone check my signiture for my thread on battery drain solution
I think the OP is really onto something here. I tried this trick & my drain has gone from a steady 55-65mA down to around 5. I'm impressed!
Just one question, those of you that having issues with battery drain what WM do u use? I've recently had a problem on my HD2 (no USB) and i installed a stock ROM. Before i had the VBN Droid Reloaded 2 and with Mdeejay kernel current widget never showed me values above 300mA (witch i believe i only saw that value 1 time). Usually i'd get from 1-2mA to 250mA tops. Now i'll never go below 60mA and i've seen the record of 600mA. Today it drain me from 95% to 35% in about 2 hours. A bit too much for my taste...
I always find if you boot Android with Win Mo fully booted, it's over 60mA, but if I use Exceller Dual Boot to boot Android before Win Mo has finished loading, then it's 5-6mA.
Yea man task_killer - problem
Everything is working for me fine, i am using futureShocks MIUI build, the only thing is when i switch on bluetooth, my battery drain is about 60-80 mAh without bluetooth i have 3-6 mAh... no task killer, no setcpu, with other builds like mdeejays sense roms this problem is not !?
Everyone an idea how to solve the problem ?

58mAh battery drain on Gingerbread

Hi Guys,
I have been using gingerbread build's for some time. I notice battery drain sometimes battery drain suddenly spikes to 58mAh for sometime (without Wifi or BT)..for around 10-15mins and then comes back to normal after 10-20mins(<10mAh). I experienced this issue first in MDJ Cm7 2.6 build..I thought that time must be build specific..so I switched to Desire HD build which was free of this issue...however I don't like sense anymore, so moved back to typhoon's CM7 build. But again I encountered the same issue. I changed the kernel to gauner's kernel, since the desire HD build I was using was using this kernel and free of the issue, but again it surfaced back.
Now I switched to pongster's hyperdroid build. This build has a very low power drain...most of the time its < 4mah on this build...Also I haven't installed any widgets (except for current widget) and have still the stock ADW launcher (to rule out the possibility of this bug caused by any s/w)...but again the drain jumped to 58mAh .Is it just me or other gingerbread users face this drain also randomly. could it be due to SD card, I am using ext4 data partition.

Hmmm ok...I don't think its an install issue..i always do a task 29 before switching builds from different devs..and follow the CWM settings as recommended by the dev....rest the builds are running so smoothly especially pongsters without any FC's or such...
BTW why are using AT&T...t-mob is cheaper and faster(3g)
It happens to me too sometimes. What I do is disable wifi and gps wait two minutes and battery drain on standby becames 5mA again. When I enable both again, it stays on 5mA. Don't know what's causing it, but I have it too.
I have this Problem if I use Livewallpapers.
Now i use normal Wallpapers and it is gone.
edit: 5-8 mA with normal Wallpaper
Well for me, it turned out to be the sync indeed as XsceneXhippieX mentioned.
I turned off all sync just for the heck of it and the problem hasn't come back for last 2 days...I enabled Background Sync (not auto sync) and problem resurfaced within few hours...so i'm pretty sure..Its the sync which is causing this Guess I need to go back to Sense ROM now...
And BTW i'm not using live wallpapers..
Also one more interesting fact...phone conusmes more battery on 2G networks than on 3G. I forced to phone to use 2G network and idle power drain was >5mAh all the time...while on 3g its 2-5mAh mostly...
58 mah on Ginger is usually the GPS. Turn it on then off again, somehow if you use it or any app use it, even if the app closes the GPS chip doesnt turn off.
Just turn it off using the widget or in settings.
If that doesnt fix it, make sure Bluetooth is off. it consumes 58-59 mah, even if it is not connected, its a known issue on Ginger. Bluetooth never goes to sleep, gotta turn it off manually.
Hope it helps!.

If that doesnt fix it, make sure Bluetooth is off. it consumes 58-59 mah, even if it is not connected, its a known issue on Ginger. Bluetooth never goes to sleep, gotta turn it off manually.
Hope it helps!.

Thanks for the help, but I'm sure its due to sync...I turned off the sync and for last 3 days there hasn't been a single occurrence of 60mAh drain.
gonna try turning off sync cause ive been having this issue.
just tried second gingerbread rom and it began immediately,
and this is with data, wifi, bt, gps all off.
hopefully sync does it
turning background data off didnt help.. still getting 70 to 80 drain.
and playing music in standby had me up to 110 which is higher than usual too

Is it a spike or continous drain? Also which ROM/kernel are you using?
its a spike, other weird thing is since i got on gingerbread, currentwidget has sucked at getting a continuous read. it has big gaps in the log.

thats the one im on now and i was on clean gingerbread before that

Yes currentwidget don't give a continuous read for me too...but its the same behavior in froyo based sense build also...
Anyway, are you using any widgets installed which sync? Disable them and see, though i'll advice to disable all widgets (not only ones which sync) and see
score mobile and stock weather i have. but if i turned off background data and autosync they shouldnt be able to do anything i thought?
il give it a try
and currentwidget always did minute by minute for me in froyo. on sense at least i cant remember the last time i used a stock build

Well I had fancy widget installed in which I had set weather to be updated always (irrespective of background data option) once a day and only on Wi-Fi..yet it still caused 58mAh drain....try disabling them for a while and see...
just deleted score mobile and deactivated weather.
after a few minutes turned it on. 85ma...
You can change the kernel to see if it helps...try Gauner's or RAFPIGNA
or better switch to froyo build...i'm switching myself..there's not much use to smartphone if you turn off syncs anyway
yeah i guess back to froyo. whats the best stock one? def dont want sense anymore.
and has anyone made an app or something to do the awesome shutoff animation from 2.3?
