shortcut to haret - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

how can we make a shorcut on home screen to run haret?
tried a search but no luck.. .lotta old info.
thanks.. noob.

Why not just use an Android boot loader? It will even run CLRCAD for you first.
Same way you get anything else to quick link. Just put HARET.EXE in the start menu>programs folder in windows. Dunno if its safe to run from memory rather than SD though. Do this at your own risk.

To create shortcut that you can add to Sense, use file explorer and locate the exe. Click and hold it and select copy. Then go to \Windows\Start Menu\ and go edit - paste shortcut (or words to that effect).
You can then add it as a quicklink to your home tab.
But, that's how you add a shortcut. That won't help you run Android as you need to run 2 apps, not 1.
Instead, do what donkeypunch85 suggested and download an Android boot loader.

OR
Since Clrcad.exe doesn't do anything and it won't affect the System, just make a copy (not shortcut) of it and paste it in :/Windows/StartUp , then everytime you boot your device clrcad.exe will automatically launch,
then do this :

how do i make my t-mo mda

run a program when the phone first starts up?
To be as short as you with your question:
WINDOWS > AUTOSTART
add shortcut or executable
well let me b a little more long winded so i can get a more specific answer...i want to take a program and automatically have it run whenever i turn on the phone...which would in-tern..make my life much easier...what would be the way for me to do such a thing...thank you in advance...i would appreeciate it
Yep, my answer is still the same:
Add a shortcut of that particular program to the WINDOWS AutoStart folder. You might have a shortcut for the program you want to run at startup in your START MENU ??? Open FILE EXPLORER (or similar applications), navigate to: C:\Windows\Start Menu\Programs and copy the shortcut. Now navigate to C:\Windows\AutoStart and paste the shortcut there.

I'm confused. On my Apache, you place a shortcut to the program you want to run in "\Windows\Startup" I use Total Commander to make the shortcut, but there are other ways. Isn't the MDA the same?
It depends on your ROM version too!
If you do not have an AUTOSTART folder but a STARTUP folder then you have to put it in there! On my MDA it is called AUTOSTART

Create a shortcut, you will get the picture automaticaly:
1. Use file explorer, find IGO.exe, press and hold the file until you get a popup menu, click "copy".
2. Go to Windows, Start Menu, click on an empty space, get a popup menu and click "paste shortcut".
3. At that point you will have shortcut to IGO8 in your All Programs list. You could add it to Programs thumbnails from there.
i lost you at number2
i managed to copy igo8.exe from file explorer. then u said go to the start menu and on a space click on it untill a pop up appears and past it. i found the space in start menu but when i click and hold on to it nothing appears. i cant paste it. help me. please show me picz if you can
thanx
its all sorted now.
i am trying to achieve the same goal - and i also have the problem that i can't paste a shortcut in my programs or on the startmenu, can someone please explain it in more detail? thx
Cant see why some of you are having problems as i just done the simple thing of pressing one of the add tabs in programs and then selecting it from the menu the creating the shortcut??? the only thing I can gather is that you guys did not use the instal cab file hence dont have both igo8 and igo8 uninstall files (shortcuts) in your native programs folder??
i want to have a shortcut to a program that is not already registered as one but is only available as runnable exe file on my storage card. The post from michael_r seemed to be a solution for this problem, however, i don't manage to follow his step 2.

Use file manager program. Change directory to device/windows/start menu. Find some empty space on the bottom half of the screen below the list of files already in the directory. Press and hold for a couple of seconds. A popup menu will appear and one of the choices will be "paste shortcut". Voila.
ahhh! thanks, now i understood it!

putting a folder link in program tab??

Greetings
1- Can I put a link to the Windows' program folder (the one that appears near the end of the "Start" menu) in the Manila's program tab??
2- Additionally, can I put a link to a folder (e.g. Games) from the Windows program's folder in the Manila's program tab?
Thanks in advance.
I would LOVE to know if this could be done. Fingers crossed.
You can. I have even put files there (Manila program tab)
The thing you have to do is create a shortcut of your desired objecti (prog, folder, tab) and put the shortcut to windows/start Menu/programs folder. I created an extra "Shortcuts" folder there to not mess up the look of PROGRAMS item in start menu.
The point is you can add any shortcut to tf3d progs tab as long as it is situated in the start menu folder

It seems that by clicking the newly created shortcut, it launches the explorer progam to show what is within the folder
Not very sexy, any chance that it stays in manilla to display the folder content?

not working for me either... i did exactly what you said.. i used the built-in Explorer to create the "programs" shortcut .. but whenever i click on the button mapped to that shortcut, i get the message "The file 'Programs' cannot be opened. Either it is not signed with a trusted certificate, or one of its componenets is messing...etc"
BTW, when i click on the newly created shortcut from the Explorer winodw, it opens the program folder in Explorer window too. What i need is to open the program folder in the same way it is opened when clicking "Start -> Programs"
Any ideas??
That's the same error message I got too.
Any help from anyone? I would like to know too cause mine is opening up the explorer too!
Bump. Hope this thread is not forgotten

how to add a shortcut icon to the start menu?

Hi, i have copied manually an application to the memory card of my htc touch diamond2, but i can't figure out how to link manually the executable of the app to the start menu.
Is there a way to do it?
Go to File Explorer, "copy" the executable file, go to "Windows\Startmenu\Programs\" and then "paste shortcut".
Don't know the exact english terms as i use a german device, but all you have to do is pasting *not* the executable, but only a shortcut to it.
After that, you can rename the shortcut to whatever you want
Click in the icon until it show the options, then click on copy, go to your desired location click menu and theres a option that says paste shortcut, thats it.
use Resco explorer, then go to the source folder.click in the icon until it show the panel, then click the send to->start menu, over.

Help a Windows Mobile Newb....

Sorry...As a former Symbian user (and Mac user) I am not so familiar with Windows Mobile file management.
How can I organize my apps into the folders I have in my "Start" menu?
Whenever I install something, it just dumps it there. I assume there must be a way to do it, but I cannot figure it out.
Thanks.
(Hoping it is not a registry tweak...why is nothing simple on Windows?)
try going through file manager and creating a new fodlers and move apps to that?
as above answer, but don't try moving anything pre installed because they will re appear when you soft reset.(I'm thinking particularly of the htc apps. there is a tweak to prevent it, but it can be surprising the first time you see it happen)
Sorry, but can I just move the apps to the pre-existing folders, say....
"Games"
or
"Internet," etc?
I want to just move them. How do I do that using the file manager?
I see a "Send..." option, but I am not sure what part of the file to send. IS that how I would 'move' something to a folder?

It's a bit of a pain with file manager as you can (usually) only do 1 file at a time. Long-hold a shortcut and select cut. Then go to the folder you want it in and do menu, edit, paste.
If you use something like Resco Explorer or Total Commander then you can do multiple files at a time.

from what i understand you just want to reorganize your start menu to look cleaner.
in the start menu you have shortcuts and folders. to access them you need to start file explorer and go to: my device > windows > start menu > programs. then just cut & paste
if you want, you can also make new folders - just tap on menu in file explorer.
some of the shortcuts/folders will reappear after reset. to prevent this you need to do a trick you can find under the "tips, tricks and reg tweaks" thread.
Thanks to all...got it...so far!

How can I get to my device > windows > start menu > programs?
If I just boot my HD2 and go to the Start menu... all I see is the list of programs that I wish to move. If I long press on them, it says, "move to top"
Click to collapse
Open file manager and navigate to \Windows\Start Menu\Programs then follow the instructions above to cut and paste the shortcuts.
I assume you'll want to create folders to put some shortcuts in, and you do that by going to menu and then new folder.
