SRS enhancements? - Desire HD General

Hey
Do you still get the srs enhancements in another music player? i like the stock but the froyo music tag error is doing my head in. I spent 24 hours converting my whole libary to mp3 then its still not listing properly..
about time google sorted it out!

Seems to only be an option in the default music player, same with the video player.

Give it time and I'm sure developers will integrate them soon enough.

There is a way to use SRS Enhancements in other apps. I'm using Spotify nicely with SRS on .
First start your app you want to listen to music (or anything) start the music playing.
Then click on home and open htc's music.
Start a song, you'll notice the EQ/SRS enhancement turning on (whatever you have set to on in the audio preferences within HTC music).
Then stop/pause the htc music playback.
Voila you have SRS ehancement with Spotify or anything else, untill you unplug your headphone or the HTC music app/process is killed.

just my 2c, your better off using another standard EQ SRS HD is one of the worst EQ/enhancments ive ever heard, imo HTC should talk to cowon about using BBE

Audio Booster randomly shutting down

I posted about this problem a couple of pages ago. I did some additional observations and it seems that the Audio Booster has a main problem with windows media player (and all the players that use the media player engine, like the HTC Music player, s2p etc.)
However, when I play my music with Conduits Pocket Player I have no problems whatsoever with the Audio Booster. (Fortunately...)
Maybe it's my partical device which is fooling with me, maybe not. I don't know. Are there others users experiencing simular issues with the Audio Booster?
Same issue here... I think it is a massive bug in it.
As I experienced it is stop when the device is go to standby (or I send to there) and happening after the player is jump to the next song. It isn't randomly. I can do it anytime.
Just try it:
Play music - turn on the Audio Booster - go to standby - wait for the next song - go back from standby =>>> The Audio Booster is already OFF
Sad story... I hope they will repair soon.

I experienced that it turns off after each song, I fixed this by pressing the home button rather than the Done softkey, this keeps it running in the background.
Just a quick question. Do you guys have a lot of music files on your MicroSD card? I have 14 gig of music, maybe the music app can't handle that.
Furthermore I have all my album art embedded in the mp3 files. Maybe that causes the booster to quit?
I ask this because I'm really astonished that this problem isn't reported much more on HD2 fora.
I have only 4gig so I don't think so that is the problem.

You mean using for example CorePlayer 1.3.5 is not detected the problem? Maybe as a temporary solution and we could see how to change the CorePlayer and application of music by default (if it works) because even though we're listening to music with another application which not either HTC or Windows by pressing the button on the remote change of composition of the headphones these applications are launched.
Told me I look good, the translation is from google but may not express myself clearly enough.

Music app with sound normalization

Hallo
I use my desire for music listening a lot. Before I got it I used a Creative Zen. I have noticed that when I listen to music on my Zen, the Smartvolume feature on this MP3 player normalizes the sound level of the songs (i.e. the volume level of all the songs is more or less the same). Is there a music app available (I've tried the native HTC sense music app and Mixing) that does more or less the same thing? I don't want to be toggling the volume constantly.
Thanks a lot!

What music player are you using?

Im using kinoma but was thinking of starting to use something else. Kinoma just doesnt cut it for me anymore and it looks to outdated.
pocket player, its the best !!!

I love the HTC Sense interface however I have found the music player to be difficult when it comes to editing playlists among other things.
Nitrogen is free and has a simple interface, though not as beautiful as Sense, the options and clarity of use trump the HTC music player. You can find it here:
www.freewarepocketpc.net/ppc-download-nitrogen-player.html
Regards,
Rudy.
I rarely use my HD2 for MP3s and if I do it's primarily for playing Justin Beiber - 'Baby' to piss my friends off, Sense suffices nicely for that.
Ive only been using the sence player, because when i click next song on my bluetooth headphones, the sence player is the only one to respond
why isnt anyone using S2P? Love it! Using the latest version & it rocks. Great UI. No glitches. Awesome work with the covers etc. Best part is tht it plays audio off videos. I download a lotta music vidz but like to jst hear while walkin....this wrks wonders, coz unlike in WM player, TCPMP etc where if i turn display off, playback stops, here u can switch off & put the phone in ur pocket & still hear the audio
core player baby! all i do is lock the screen and wen i put it in my pocket or wen the screen goes blank, the music still plays
Nitrogen for me too
Pocket Player
It really does kick the lamma's ass.
great sound
lots of controls
including rewind and seek/resume
DSP effects surround sound is just the biscuit.
Video Playback is a software job but then again so are most.
Podcast down load straight from the menu...
The list goes on, for me Music and Audio Pocket Player. Video built in Windows Media Player, then you get the hardware acceleration you paid top money for.
does pocket player have built in shoutcast?

My conclusion on the music quality and volume on the Desire HD

I've had real problems with the volume of music on my HD. Max volume when playing music is fairly low/average. Max should be loud, it should make me want to turn it down.
I've also been very unsure on the quality of the music and what will give the best quality when playing music. Stock player? Stock player with EQ? Stock player with SRS? Stock player with Dolby? PowerAmp? PowerAmp with EQ?
__
I did about an hour of testing using old ipod headphones and my Sennheiser CX870s.
I put the stock music player widget on the same screen as the PowerAmp widget so I could play one song on them both and pause the player on one and start the other to compare music quality and volume between both players with both headphones. I did this over and over with classical, techno and rock music. that
I don't feel like typing an essay but I can confidently conclude that no combination of EQ in either player or SRS etc gives the music on my HD enough volume.
I can also confidently conclude that music does sound better on the stock Desire HD music player with SRS than PowerAmp. No combination of EQ or preamp settings in PowerAmp sounded better than the stock player with SRS. At the same time though, the difference is not that great.
This is of course all my opinion with my ears and my cx870's.
One problem I've had with the cx870's is that they sound way to bassy with stock player SRS and PowerAmp with the EQ, but that is probably headphone related so not relevant to this.
I found that while jacking up the preamp in PowerAmp did help the volume, it also distorted it and somewhat ruined the clarity of the music. Plus the volume output was still not much better than the stock player with SRS.
^^ Interesting thanks very much for that... much appreciated... I still have to work out much needed replacement the the stock player. I was thinking of trying PowerAmp next.
By the way I have seen some volume raise apps or Android volume unlock that are supposed to help maybe a bit on other phone models have you tired or had any luck with any of them on the Desire HD? Definitely something I'm keen to find a fix to as well as it's not really acceptable IME to play a youtube video and have it too quiet for friends to hear ect.
Take care n good luck. Will post back it I find any good news before you do.
I was using Poweramp first but arrived to the same conclusion than Rogueblade. Stock player has a better sound definition than third party players : less distortion etc...
Do you really find it too quiet? I find mine on the brink of too loud when its on max - I generally have it a click or 2 under, and its loud enough to drown out the sound of anyone around me and the sound of the train.
using headphones i find SRS amazing, im using it even in my car even using the headphones jack
just tried an HD2 and desire next to the DHD, seriously people i don't get what the problem is, the DHD has a much clearer sound
i'm on OTA 1.72 by the way
Am I missing something not?!? I cannot see how it's possible to use the stock player as lets say I copy 2 CDs on to the SD card. When I go to access it though the stock player there is not 1 folder with CD1 and another folder with another CD2 there is just a mess of MP3 tracks and folders. Now that is just one double CD from one artist. I would not like to see what happens when I go and transfer a resonable size collection of my MP3s containing mutliple folders of CD's and live sets, each foldered under artist names and music styles.
Someone please explain it to me if I am wrong. Would I be right to say I need to use another player that specifically has a feature of search/display music by folders?
I find the volume on DHD good enough. I use the device for music in the car and always leave it around half way and fully cracked up on the stereo and it's loud enough.
While listening with headphones I find max too loud but the volume preference would differ from person to person. Also I find SRS gives a nice bass boost which is great.

Yes, the stock htc music application sorts music by artist, album, music and then you can also create custom playlists.
Have you tried winamp for android? If it's anything like the pc version it will perfect for what you need.

Favorite music player

The stock music player seems limited to me. I use player pro. It has plenty of customizations and is light. Share the name of your favorite music player and the reason why

I use Shuttle+. Very clean interface and plays my music! Not only that, but the dev is very active on adding new features, like folder browsing is coming in the next version. Highly recommend you give it a try, and there is a free version. Pro is 99 cents.

I switch between Neutron and Poweramp. Neutron has arguably the best audio quality of all the players on the market, but the UI leaves a lot to be desired. Poweramp, while not as good as Neutron in terms of audio quality, provides probably the best balance in terms of sound and UI.
I use PowerAmp, as it has a great interface, lots of features, and varied widget options. Haven't felt a need to switch from it yet.
I using MyPlayer because ir have a different but useful way forma making playlists.
You could check ir here:

Are you referring to Google Play Music? If so, it is my go to when I want to play one of the 11K songs on my desktop, especially since Audiogalaxy abandoned me again.
As far as an offline player, Nexmusic is my current favorite and believe me, I tried just about them all. It has most or more of the great features that the big boys (e.g., PlayerPro, Poweramp) have and it's free. Although PlayerPro is pretty nice if you don't mind the price.
I've been enjoying the N7player on an S4 Active very much.
Coming from Neutron player on a galaxy S2 and wanted to try something different.
The equalizer isn't the best (Neutron's was very detailed, so I got spoiled), but there are better exclusive apps just for that and the built in has many presets and effects.
Easy to use and browse music
playlist creation comes quicker than most with lots of longpress options
album art is presented well
lock screen interface is a nice treat
simple, minimalistic and dark
So for the people who use poweramp and neutron, how different is the sound quality on both players? I currently use poweramp. Also most of my music is in FLAC. Would I benefit more from neutron?
Nexmusic, it does what i need it to do and it does it very well :good:
Anybody tried Rocket Music Player before? It's awesome, you can attach special presets to each and every song and can also upgrade to a 10-band equalizer from 5 bands. It's UI is also beautiful and customizable thanks to themes. I personally use the Light Blue theme thanks to my exposure from using Apollo

Ive always used Poweramp. Why? It was one of only a couple of players with a built in equalizer when it came out. I paid for it so I just kept using it
Lately though Ive been all about the Google Play Music app. Cant beat having my entire music library there without using up all my phones storage. The interface is actually really really nice and easy to navigate. Built in equalizer is nice too. Its definitely my go to player since they updated the interface. Not to mention the All Access feature now. A little pricet at $8/mo but I'm enjoying the trial I finally activated.
I use Apollo built into CM10.1. Basic, works for me. I absolutely hate Google Music. Even with music on my SD card, and not allowing it to sign in to my account somehow it managed to show up in Data Usage as using 500mb+ of my data plan. Never again. It's disabled now.

I had the same issue with Google music a while back... that is one of the first apps I kill now on my phone. Fool me once and all that...
for local music I actually prefer the stock Samsung player. for streaming its slacker.
I'm just amazed that play STILL can't transition from shuffle to "in order" without having to clear the que. that is the single thing preventing me from using that for everything.
Come on....... Power amp
SGH-M919_Omega, the end result
poweraaaamp
equalizer music player is what i use cuz its a really great app and is free. and also works great with the volume increasing mod i use.

JetAudio Music Player Plus
JetAudio Music Player Plus (paid version) - 20-band EQ (10-band in Free Version, I think), 32 presets, 4 Customizable presets, Stereo Widening, Reverb, Bass, AGC, Crossfading, Gapless, Balance control, Sleep timer, etc...
I use it along with ViPER4AndroidFX and ViPER4AndroidXHiFi MOD, if you have not tried this, you are missing out. Blows out everything of the water. I've never heard earphones sound so good. Even if you prefer another player, use this FX Mod, you will be amazed at the difference this makes.
EDIT: Just to clarify a bit more. ViPER4AndroidFX/XHiFi is an Audio FX app a bit like Equalizer, Music FX, Beats Audio?, etc... they improve audio effects coming out of the phone - globally, across all apps. It is not a music player.
