[Q] Favorites Tab Shows Wrong Website Preview - HD2 General

So basically I had added a favorite to the sense tab and clicked on it while using free WiFi at McDonald's so the page it shows is the page where you accept the terms of service for the free WiFi. I have searched for it, but if I somehow did miss the answer I apologize in advance. I have tried removing the favorite from the tab & removing the favorite all together & then re-adding it and it still shows the wrong preview. I am guessing that there is a directory somewhere that I would be able to just delete the preview data. TIA for any help!!!

Bump I would love to know too.

That's a weird one. Did you try deleting it, then doing a soft reset, then adding it?

Have you looked in the Windows\Temporary Internet Files folder? Or maybe it's the Temp folder? See if the images for the shortcuts are cached in one of those folders. If so, you can just delete them and that should take care of it.

all the thumbnails are located in:
/Windows/Thumbnail
simply find the one you have and replace it with one you want or delete it. (the names are very long and make no sense, but in the end are simply .pngs.)
for a tut on this see:

cheers.

Ok so I found & deleted the 1 that was giving me problems, but now it won't generate the new preview! I have tried a soft reset with no results. Is there a way to force it to create the new one? Thank again!

scratches head...sorry mate. it worked for me previously. did you save the file somewhere else before deleting it? sorry it isn't working out the way you/i had hoped...

I upgraded to Oprea 10 I think it is beta and I don't have this problem anymore, it seems to update the thumbnails often.

Multi Launching Apps from Cube Problem

Wondered if any one has had this problem.
When i launch the contacts app from the contacts side of the cube
not only does the contacts app open but several of my system folders open
at the same time...
For example... i bring up the cube, press the contacts app and the comm
manager, settings folder, programs folder and activesync all open at the same time. I close out the contacts app and then i have to close out all the other apps as well.
It's getting frustrating... i've done a hard reset to test this out and before i install or do any thing to my device i try to launch it and it happens again...
I thought was because of a tweak but am seeing that this is not the problem..
Any insight to this problem.. fix.. any one else have this ... please
post a thought...
I've tried to look in the registry to see where the app launches but can't find it... i'm frustrated
Thanks...
Craig
No theories....
What ROM are you running? That's not normal behavior.
You might want to try flashing the stock ROM.
That's just it... it is the stock rom...
I've always been afraid to flash a new Rom
that wasn't official...
Got it brand new...
It's frustrating... wondered if any thing in the Registry
would fix this...
Can't seem to find the reg entry for the quicklauncher
contacts only part... all i find in the registry is the 9
configurable choices...

I'd take it in to a store and show them what's going on. Back up your info first, though. They may be able to help you, or they may order you a new phone.

Have deleted some threads that I wwas following but can't seem to remove the posts, real annoying. I'd be happy to clear them all out but can't see a way of doing it, any advice much appreciated!

Thanks but I've already done that.
What I have on the handset is all the twitters/posts/threads I have unfollowed, I want to be able to remove these
Log out of Twitter in the 'Data Settings' page in phone settings and it will remove all tweets, you can then resync your phone to Twitter and it'll get the ones of people you're following...

AH, log out and back in.
twitter tab - menu - settings - tap the top section(account settings) it will clear the cache when you log out, when you log back in it will refresh.
Oh, hang on, maybe it wont..... lol, pretty sure i tried that before and it worked, but just tried now and it didnt......
\Application Data\HTC\Twitter contains photo, you can clear it, it'll sync back
\Temp\TwiEng contains all the post in database. I usually delete it out every few days
make sure you turn off sense first because if Twitter tab is running, it'll lock the file in Temp and you cannot delete it (not sure if you log off, it'll still lock those file or not).
Your right, if you log out and log back in all the tweets are still there. I have considered creating another twitter account to see if switching accounts clears the cache. I also dont think it clears any old tweets automatically so this is an ever growing problem, the longer the device is used without a hard reset the more it will fill and the more lag there will be.
Im not technically minded to suggest anything else, i have tried to find the cache file in explorer but failed.
Can Any of you very clever people out there help on this one?
(yet another poorly tested buggy part of the HD2 .... but hey means we will never get bored )
I went into Data services in the main phone settings tab and turned it off using the toggle. It said it will clear all tweets. I logged back in using the toggle and signed in and had to get them down fresh...

Your right thats what it says, but i dont think thats what its doing. When I do exactly that it does appear to clear them but if you check after its reloaded the tweets, all the tweets are there going right back to your last hard reset (in my case 29th Jan) I have twitter set to download just the last 50 tweets but there are hundreds between the 29th and today.
I have also tried loggong into a fresh twitter account with no tweets, but when I log back into my main one they are still all there. This must be down to a cache file not being cleared properly, question is... where is the little blighter????????

Setting tab -> Menu -> All Setting -> Today -> Items tab -> uncheck HTC Sense then OK out 2 times. Delete file, and then follow same step to check HTC Sense then OK out all the way.
Cool, thats todays little HD2 maintenance lesson done

[Q] Remove MSN Money & MSN Weather from Dash3G

Hey guys,
Need your expertise; Is there a way to remove MSN weather or MSN Money from my -Mobile Dash3G?
I want to keep the original T-Mobile flash but those 2 apps are just taking space for nothing.
Thank you in advance!
Hook up your phone with ActiveSync and go into file explorer. Open up the windows folder, then start menu. You can delete stuff from start screen there.

Those 2 apps dont show up on "Add or Remove Programs". T-Mobile disable that from uninstalling but I was hoping there's a trick to uninstalling them.

If I do that, won't that corrupt files on the phone since Im really not uninstalling them?
I dont think so because it's like you're deleting shortcuts off that menu. So I don't know how to completely remove those programs. Then again how can you completely remove any program anyway.

I have found the solution to the various posts listed on not being able to get rid of an uninstalled prog in the remove progs window. Using MemMaid 2.3 go jump to/databases/database usage, highlight SwMgmtMetadataStore and click browse, highlight offending entry and delete it. Then do and soft reset and you will find that the prog is no longer in the remove prog window. Hope this helps.

Video on gallery don't match.Froyo 2.2

Hello everyone.
I've just realized that after making a video if I delete it and shoot another one the little preview on the file shows the previous and deleted video,it does not match,so I have to go through all the videos in order for me to see the one I want to send or watch.
Has anyone had this issue?
Thanks so much.
Yep
Yep
having same issues with my streak....must have something to do with Album Art Caching....need to write an app for this...
Thank you very much for your reply.I thought I was the only one experiencing this.
Anybody else?
Last night I called Dell and they are gonna send me a new device, since this one is not even a week old.
Yeah me too.. a bit annoying but I got over it pretty quickly.
We all should report this,Dell needs to know, the more the better.
Did you find an app for this? any workaround?
Thanks.
Little workaround
I think I have just found a little workaround to solve this issue.I put my videos on a different folder on my computer, this is what I did after that:
-Go to sdcard (use Astro,Linda, windows file explorer will work too)then go to DCIM,you will see two folders camera and .thumbnails (just delete this one only)
Once you have deleted that one put the videos back on the camera folder, then take a look at the gallery on your streak, now the videos should be showing the real preview.
If you delete one of the videos the issue will be back and you will have to start the process over. After messing a little bit more with this folder I can see it does work.So if you come across the same bug give it a shot.
just initiate a new media scan..
Ok...I know it sounds very stupid specially after trying so many steps, but how can I do that....I'm sure I'm missing something.
Thanks.

Your phone should do a media scan when you restart, if that doesn't clear up the problem you can try an app like Rescan Media. It forces a media rescan without a reboot. There are others, that was the first I found.
Ok...I think I got it this time.Maybe it is one of the apps that do not autostart when I turn on the device,I use autostarts to disable apps and I must have disabled something that was not supossed to be off.
Thanks.

Screen overlay problem!

Normally I'd have this issue fixed per the typical ways to fix but as of yesterday I cannot change any permissions nor can I access my camera or video files. Before you go into the rant of going into settings and disabling any apps that use screen overlay I have done that to every single app and system app as well as disabled the accessibility options....I still get the message. Any clues that might be helpful? I have Build MRA58k version BLU_R0011UU_v21_GENERIC 05-05-2017 short of doing a twerp recovery to an old image I don't know what to do.

I am trying to change my permissions so that I can use my phone for recording videos but it refuses to let me view any of my files in my gallery. It doesn't matter if I go through the app or if try to view it through a file viewer such as file manager, nothing will let me access them. In fact I can not change permissions for any app, can't change what can and cannot access my storage, can not change what accesses my phone, nothing can be changed. It's not just those apps, every app I try to change permissions for has the same message. As I stated before I have disabled ALL draw over other apps, System as well as normal but the message still pops up even after a reboot........It all started 3 days ago, I didn't install anything new and as far as my security programs show, I have not been infected with a virus or malwear....
Just an update... 9 days and still not fixed... I have had to install different programs for some of my functionality back however I still cannot change any permissions... Some apps will allow me to tap outside of the notification and still use them however some things I still cannot do such as view recently recorded vids or recently taken pictures. Still hoping someone can find a fix for this issue.
