Hello,
apart from several software issues i have following hardware issues:
- vibration stops working from time to time, especially when not having used the device for a day or long. If you shaked the phone it would start working again.
- rotation sucks, as the proximity/acceleration sensor seems to be calibrated wrongly, as apps which need the sensor do not work properly (such as car racing --> car goes for one side though the phone is hold horizontally exactly) or display switches orientation too early/late
- If I used Google maps the blue thing points in a wrong direction (maybe 45°)!
Anyone same there?

Yes and yes. Still the same. So i really got a lemon and the Streak usually is a good device?
The vibration issue certainly is a hardware issue that I would replace my phone over, it sounds like a physical problem with the motor, and bad motors only get worse with age.

I have felt my vibration button fade or lag at times. Not sure if that was normal. I had it sometimes where it wouldn't work at all. I did a factory reset and all seems to work ok. I still get the laggy vibration when to many processes going on at the same time.

Hi there.
I have optical joystick switched off all the time, but sometimes it turns on by itself. I think some application does it, but so far I did not found which one.
Any idea ?
Got the same problem sometimes
and
my backlight dimming sets itself often back to 10 seconds (instead of 1 minute which I had set it to)
Anyone else has those problems ?
I can confirm optical joystick switching on.

I had the same problem as you, but it went away ever since I've got the new(R2) rom installed.
Don't know if it's some application that does it tho, because I've barely installed anything on my newly flashed phone.
optical joystick keeps turning on
Actually I have the same problem, the joystick keeps turning on by itself, even when turned off. My conclusion is that it turns on when switching to the Mediaxperience panel, using the panel and then switching to another panel.
I'm also looking for a solution for this.
even i had this problem... i tried changing the panels but it would still happen. i then set my joystick to lowest sensitivity in the settings. its been almost a month and it has not happened since.
i think its a issue of some dust or moisture settling below the joystick on the circuit board and causing it. try setting it to the lowest setting.
I'm fairly new with the xperia, have it one week now. Of course I try everything out, and it's just switching back on after switching to the original MediaXperience panel. Maybe Sony has programmed it to turn back on with this panel to benefit the optical joystick at it's maximum. Isn't there a registry edit possible to make it permanenty switched off?
anyone?...
Does anyone have an issue with your cheek pushing buttons while you are on the phone? I am running liberated_aria and whenever i am on the phone, my screen does not shut off like other phones and I end up either hanging up on people or moving widgets and even adding widgets..
has anyone else noticed this? is there a fix for it?
Its happened to me once on an Aosp rom. Haven't had any problems after that though.

I haven't had any problems. The proximity sensor is on the top right of the phone, where the AT&T logo is. Try making a call, to voicemail or something, and then waving your finger over the sensor. Does it ever turn the display off? Could be a software bug I suppose, or just a faulty sensor.
if you use your left hand/ear its pretty easy to dodge the sensor, unfortunately.
I tried a call using my right hand and I dont have that problem. Only the left.. I guess Ill have to start making all my calls right handed.
It figures...
Us southpaws always get the short end of the stick. FWIW, I almost always hold my phone(s) left handed, and only rarely seem to have this problem. ( It might just be that I have a huge head, and big ears. )
Im a righty and sometimes when making calls i get a haptic vibration from my face touching the nav buttons i think, nothing happens though.
My girlfreind is having the same issues with her handset.
We found her an Aria about 2 weeks ago at Best Buy Mobile for $1. They are running some great special for non-iphone handsets. The Aria was giving her problems and we ended up exchanging it. The 2nd Aria also has the same issue. While on the phone, her cheek will press random buttons and even hang up. Sometimes she just feels vibration, sometimes its a number pad press, and sometimes she just hangs up all of a sudden.
It seems to be some sort of sensor issue. Does anyone have some insight as to how to fix it? It's kinda of a big deal if the phone function is impaired by having to hold it away from your face.
Thanks!

Other then making sure her head is covering the sensor, she canlock the phone in mid call and it should stop her phone from registering her cheek while on a call

Huh. I'm a righty, but I talk left hand / left ear, and I never have any problems. Do you tilt the phone in some strange way?

Thats a good idea. Thanks.
This issue is really pissing me off. I love this phone a lot but the proximity sensor is not working as it should, atleast with my head shape.
Seems almost in every other call I make/receive my cheek contacts the screen and pushes something because the proximity sensor is not detecting me head.
I've tried locking the phone with the button on top of the phone but that does not work, it's only temporary until the proximity kicks back in.
And, the funny thing is, when I try to "test" it out or replicate the situation I can never seem to do it again! It always happens unexpectedly.
I'm in the same boat with this too, but it's a hit or miss thing and really could be much worse.

i can't say i've ever run into this specific problem. i've actually been impressed with how well the sensor has been working.
i would agree with the previous poster who suggested to lock the screen once the call is active. make your call then tap the power button to lock the screen and that should help you avoid the issue.

I have a really annoying bug in my WP7 HD2. When i make a call, the screen goes black and i cannot access anything. The call connects fine but the whole phone locks up. I can't access the dial pad for using automated services, nor can i hang up. Hardware buttons do not work either, but light up briefly if i push one. I think its something to do with the light sensor, sometimes if i cover it and uncover, the screen quickly comes on then goes off again. Any ideas? I am using the latest radio from the stock HTC WM 6.5 ROM, and the newer (51t?) radio for WP7. I have tried older versions of both, and a few different WP7 roms all with the same problems.
WP7 Mango (xboxmod/yuki)
UK HTC HD2
This problem also happens on android.
Uhh, sounds awful 'cause you experience also on different Android...
Do you experience this also on a Stock WM 6.5 Rom (of course with the original radio and without hpsl)? If not, you can be relaxed cause it's no hardware fault then. If it's also present on WM 6.5, then it's very likely to be an hardware error.
a little update on my problem. it appears that if i tilt the phone at a 30 degree angle downwards, while in a call, the light sensor functions normally. so at least navigating those phone menues can be done! i think this is a hardware problem, my HD2 did suffer a pretty nasty fall (which resulted in a new screen!) so maybe there was some other damage beside the screen.

there are two sensors together to the left of the earphone at the top of the screen, one is a light sensor, the other a proximity sensor. It seems to be the proximity sensor that is at fault. When you put your ear to phone it switches screen off so you dont push buttons.
I have read that the prox sensor can become misaligned when replacing screen. Did it occur after this? warranty?
as soon as i make a call the screen switches off. also the auto brightness doesnt seem to be very responsive. the issue had happened before but it was more of a driver issue than a hardware fault. i noticed it more after the repair, but it was not instant. maybe one of the sensors was lose and after a few months of use it is now misaligned? the phone is out of warrenty, and the 3 month warrenty on the repair is also up, and i have no insurance anymore i am holding out for a new phone. just started a new job so hopefully i can get something outright without being tied to a contract
Same problem
I'm having the same problem I think I noticed it when it was running windows 6.5 but I really noticed it after 7 upgrade. as soon as I make a call I cant access anything. THe bad thing about it is this phone is a replacement. I just got it. Maybe they sent me a badly refurbished one. Has anyone found a solution to this. If i'm smart I know this is not as simple as changing a setting sound like re flash, erasing, re installing, etc.
did you try tilting the phone downwards towards you? when i do this the menu appears and i can access everything. normally i put it on speaker then the screen stays lit then i cna use it as normal
Anyone have any problems with this? Sometimes it will get stuck in landscape. I'll have to go from portrait back to landscape to get it to rotate back to portrait
To narrow it down if I lock the phone in landscape the unlock it via fingerprint sensor it happens

it sometimes happens. And also another odd issue i noticed was then you are listening to music or watching videos in landscape and you rotate your phone 180 degrees upside down, the audio will stop for a split second and resumes. Is this a software flaw??

No. It's the dual speakers. When the screen rotates the audio swaps speakers.... Because there channeled to a left and right speaker

Yes, I've noticed the same. I wonder if the bug has already been submitted.
I can also confirm that it has happened on mine as well. It happens sometimes when I wake the phone.
Yes... I've been having the same issue. Doesn't happen too often, but it is rather annoying. Seems if I just rotate the device about 3/4 of a turn it will go back to normal. I thought maybe it was a faulty accelerometer, but hopefully it's just a software bug that will be fixed sooner or later.
Same here. Does not want to come back to portrait, needs to go to landscape shake to go back to normal...

My Nexus 6P will not go into reverse portrait orientation at all - only portrait, landscape, and reverse landscape. I have to use a third-party app to achieve reverse portrait orientation.

+1 for this issue. Sometimes, when I launch a game its stuck in potrait mode. Only way to fix it is to exit the game rotate the screen to Landscape and relaunch it.
xdaniel91: There's a setting under "Display tweaks" called "Allow all rotations." I just checked the box next to this setting. I might have had to reboot.
Cataclysm has a similar setting under "Miscellaneous" called "Upside-down rotation."
Hello guys, what worked for me yesterday, it was letting fall down the phone against the asphalt by accident when i was getting out from the car. LOL
Some other people suggested a strong shock/hit as a fix in a google nexus forum, i cant attach the link yet.
I've been following this issue closely as I was impacted by it as well.
Here's the link to the Nexus Help forum:

Lol sounds wrong but i did fix mine, i dropped my phone today from like 2cm high and my rotation stopped working...came to this thread and read your advice, dropped it again from like 1 cm height and my rotation started working again....so thanks!

Holy crap, that worked. My phone fell about 6 inches onto hard tile. Then auto rotate stopped working. I just tapped the phone on different corners on the same hard tile, and it's rotating again.

There's a tiny gyroscope chip on the main board. Contained inside it is a plate (critical mass) with contacts underneath that moves/slides on top of the chip's contacts. When you rotate the phone, the plate actually moves inside the tiny chip, and from there the x,y,z axis is calculated. In my best hillbilly mechanic voice "yer plate got stuck".

Mine has been getting stuck but dont think its the plate. Of course it began happening when I switched rom, flashed new bootloader, vendor AND started using a new launcher.
Fairly confident its not the launcher because no one else is complaining. Hitting/dropping the phone doesnt fix it but toggling auto rotate does. Ive tried every variation of set rotations in the settings of the rom and launcher but this has persisted over a week. Whats frustrating is itll go hours without the glitch (thinking its fixed) then it gets stuck in landscape.
Thats my boring story. If anyone has a fix please share. Thanks
I've had my nexus 6p for about two months now, and yesterday, something weird happened to my gyro sensor. It seems to be completely out of place, not allowing me to rotate my phone in any app in any way. Occurred to anyone else?

The only related issue I've had is when it's laying flat and displaying in portrait, then I open an app and it opens in landscape. Kind of annoying.
I'd ensure rotation is enabled in display settings, and use an app like Sensors Multitool, under rotation vector it will tell you if the sensor is responding to movement at all. If it's not responding it's likely a stuck sensor. Either defective, stuck in position from a fall, or is held in place by static (in which case powering it off for 5 minutes should get it working again temporarily). If the app shows that it's responding to movement but still not rotating, I'd suggest a factory reset.

i left it off for 12 hours and it works perfectly now!
Now that you mention it ive had issues with it locking in landscape--recently in past 24 hours. Havent looked too much into it but toggling auto rotate usually fixes it. Thought it was my launcher (recently switched to asap) but i dunno....never had this issue before yesterday--closest thing would be its TOO sensitive and switches mode with the slightest movement. But thats not the same as it locking up in landscape
