HTML Frameset - Galaxy S I9000 General

I have a problem with a folder contaning a HTML framset executed by an index.html file, folder is located at external SD card.
With Froyo JPM/JP6 I am not able to show the framset index side. Frameset is shown correct, but with empty index. With Eclair JM2 to JM9 I am able to se this framset index.
Uses Dolphin HD browser with default settings, file:///sdcard/external_sd/xxx/xxx/index.html. Have also tried Skyfire and Opera Mini.

unable to open pocket word files they are NOT .doc extension

I copied some files from my QTEK S110 onto a friends laptop and they copied accross OK although they did not have a .doc file exension (it was something else) and then when I tried to open them from the new location I could not even after associating that file extension with WORD.
Whats going on?
Also does anyone know how I can se the file extensions of all files and unhide hidden files in file explorer on my pocket pc.
thx
the file extension for pocket word is *.psw to use them on word on pc i think it has to be converted. In pocket word you can click on tools then Save Document As.. do that and under the drop down list of file type you can save it as .doc .rtf .psw .txt and another file type.
about the hidden files if you tap the screen and hold it in the explorer and a menu will come up and theres a selection there for view all files, it unhides some files but not all files. I use Profiexplorer which comes with profimail which is a indepth explorer. it shows all files aswell as file extensions and you can change file extensions and so on
Simply set the active sync option to convert the Pocket Word <-> Word files on transfer. I though this was on by default.
Of course if you don't copy via AS (e.g. via the SD card), it won't convert.

Thanks

"Of course if you don't copy via AS (e.g. via the SD card), it won't convert."
Sorry I didnt understand the sentence above. What does AS stand for? AND Did you mean that if I have copied my *.psw file onto my main memory (Permanent Save) that "Simply set the active sync option to convert the Pocket Word <-> Word files on transfer" wont work
I havent tried Active Sync yet.
AS = Active Sync
This converts the format for you when copying from one to the other.

If you haven't tried ActiveSync (AS) then you must be transferring the files via the SD card or perhaps BT or IR? This won't convert them - ActiveSync can convert the files on the fly as you transfer them between device and PC.

Thanks
@ mtbsoft
Thanks yes I am using BT though I do not have an SD card they are saved into my RAM - The S110 has 128MB instead of the usual 64. Thanks for your help

Relocating cache/history/cookies locations in PIE and Opera Mobile

My unit has been freezing up after some use. When that happens, my TenGO input method reverts back to the default tiny keyboard, which of course is unuseable in true VGA mode. I traced the problem to the fact that my browser had stored lots of files within the device and caused the memory availability to fall, depriving it from the programs.
I changed these browser files location to the SD card, and my TenGo input method right away came back by itself. The system also revert back to the normal quick speed.
None of these ideas originated from myself. There are many websites giving these tips.
Changing the IE brower cache, cookies, and history location:
---------------------------------------------------------
The IE working files are by default located at :
\windows\profiles\guest\temporory internet files
\windows\profiles\guest\Cookies
\windows\profiles\guest\history
First, use Files Explorer to create these directories at storage card:
\windows\profiles\guest\temporory internet files
\windows\profiles\guest\Cookies
\windows\profiles\guest\history
Then Use a registry edit tool,go to
\HKCU\Software\Microsfot\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Shell Folders and change the Cache,Cookies, and History value to \Storage Card\Windows\Profiles\Guest\Temporary Internet Files,..... etc
If you prefer not to edit the registry directly youself, you could alternatively, use SKtools (I use version 3.1.5) to do the following:
Start SKTool, then click Tuning
The first tab shows the current location of the above. Change it to the new locations: ie
Storage Card\windows\profiles\guest\temporory internet files
Storage Card\windows\profiles\guest\Cookies
Storage Card\windows\profiles\guest\history
Exit SKtools
Switch off the device for about 20 seconds before doing a reset. It is important that you do not do reset right away else the registry entry may not be effected. The switching off will cause the system to write out the new registry entries.
With that, its done for Internet Explorer.
Changing the Cache, cookies, and history location for Opera Mobile
----------------------------------------------------------------
Ensure Opera is not running before you begin.
First, create these directories using file explorer:
\Storage Card\Application Data\Opera
\Microdrive\My Documents
Then, copy Cache4, cacheOp Help imgcss skin strtpage style directories to \storage card\Application Data\Opera.
After the copying is verified to be accurate, clean the content in the above directories in the device, but leave the directory structure there (with empty content) just in case.
Then, transfer these files from device to storage card by cutting these file from device and pasting to storage card
-browser
-chartables
-cookies4
-global
-htm40_entities
-opcacrt6
-opera.dir
-operand
-opssl6
-vlink4
Leave these in device directory :
-brwoser
-de
-englihs
-html40.entities
-input
-ja
-nl
-opera.ini
-opera6.adr
-pl
-ru
-zh-cn
-zh-tw Note: I think this list of languages differ from country to country. Notice that I've replicated browser and html40.entities in both location because none of the websites I read mentioned them. I leave them at both location to ensure it will still work, but I'd later on tried removing them from one location at a time to establish where Opera would look for these files.
Make changes to Opera.ini file
----------------------------
Initially, I tried to use Note application to open Opera.ini, but found out that it can't seem to "see" the file. Same goes for Pocket Word. I could'nt find the solution from other website, so I decided to use the desktop notepad text editor to edit it.
a) Establish activesync, on PC, use explore button to copy from device\Application Data\Opera to say the desktop.
b) Use the desktop notepad to open the Opera.ini file, and make the following changes to these entries:
- Opera Directory=\Storage Card\Application Data\Opera
- Help Directory=\Storage Card\Application Data\Opera\Help
- Button Set=\Storage Card\Application Data\Opera\skin\windows_skin.zip
- Download Directory=\Microdrive\My Documents
- Home URL=\Storage Card\Application Data\Opera\startpage\home.html
c) Then save the document as Opera.ini, and make sure encoding is UTF-8
d) Copy back the edited Opera.ini from desktop to the Device's main memory. i.e \Application Data\Opera
Its done.
I'll continue to monitor the device performance over the next few weeks and see if the freezing still happens.

Hi confucious,
I'm not aware of a CAB that automates this. Could you post the link for the CAB?
Anything that makes life simpler is welcome.

Back up opera favourites

How do I back up my opera bookmarks?
Previously I have just saved the whole opera program folder and then replaced it.
Is there just one file I can save that would do the same?
I've got opera 9.7 installed on my card, but in the 'Profiles' folder there is a file called "OPERA6.ADR" that appears to be the favorites. There's also a file called "COOKIES4.DAT" that stores cookies, and in the 'Secure' folder you'll find a file called "WAND.DAT" that has your login info.

Path or app for a .pdf on SD card?

Uploaded a couple of .pdf files from my desktop to the SD card.
Can't seem to find a way to see the file directory. (Not rooted)
Do I need an app for that? (If so, which one?)
Can I bring it up in Dolphin or Chrome browser, and if so, what is the Path?
Should I have loaded the .pdf into a sub-directory on the SD card? If so, what should I name it?
TIA for any suggestions.
I've been using a program called androzip as a file explorer... just find the file you want and open it
Thanks!
I evenually made a sub-directory on the SD card and put the .pdf in it, and download a .pdf app... which then found the file, but only once it was moved to the sub-folder.
I'm still curious to know what path to use to locate/open a local file in a browser...
Thanks.

[Q] Can't find downloaded email attachments

I've had the DAF WP7 rom for about a month now..works pretty great after doing some registry tweaks. Anyway, I've put together this ebook (.epub format) and emailed it to myself and downloaded the ebook attachment from my gmail, and I downloaded an ebook/epub reader (Freda) from the Marketplace to see if the format was correct--to test the epub on my HD2. But when I launched Freda, the only ebooks that are displayed in the Bookshelf are the ones that came with the app..
I looked around in Touchxplorer to see if I could find my epub so I could try to copy and paste it to the root folder to see if Freda would be able to then find and load them, but the only thing by way of an email attachment I was able to find was in this folder.. APPLICATION DATA/VOLATILE/EMAIL ATTACHMENTS .. but the attachments I had downloaded were displayed as .DAT files--I don't know what this means..data files?--anyway, they won't open and I doubt Freda could recognize them anyway, even if I were to copy and paste them in root folder..
Anybody have any idea how I can find the files I've downloaded from my email as attachments? I noticed the first day I flashed the rom that the Storage Card in Touchxplorer wasn't a folder but just a file (I think it's a .DAT file also), so I guess the 16GB card I have in the phone is pretty useless? That sucks, but I at least want to be able to download files (besides pictures, those work fine) and be able to access them.
Thanks!

Generally the emailing of an attachment will only work if you can open the attachment in a WP7 application like Adobe or Excel. I have found that once downloaded and opened the file is visible and available from the application. For example, if you email a pdf file and open it, it is available when you open Acrobat, even after you delete the email.
For a file that cannot be directly run by a WP7 application, you are out of luck using email because it cannot be opened and there is no option to save it.

Maybe send the .epub to Freda for publishing and download it from the catalogue.
Or find the source code for Freda (it's out there somewhere) and use that to modify either your file or the program???
I'm not sure TouchXplorer (in WP7) sees any SD Card in any other way than a .dat file.
According to all the posts and literature the SD Card and the internal memory in WP7 at least, are in practice one and the same.
>Settings>about, to see how much Available Storage you have. Anything resembling a figure near to your SD Capacity means the SD Card is working and being read as expected by WP7.

I think that this might be the only way I can go.. I just want to load up my epub so I can preview the formatting and layout and make sure everything looks okay.
Thanks for the link!

Not sure if I'd be able to modify the Freda source code, or even to what end.. I got this XAP (don't remember what it's called just now) and on the opening page it had a lot of info about my device and the amount of free storage was around 12 or 13 GB, so I think that the ROM is using my SD card.. ah well, these ROMs are pretty new and I'm sure the devs will really surprise us with the features they can implement.
Thanks for the info buddy..
could you just rename the file type from DAT to epub? that's what I do when I want to read mobi on kindle app
To get an EPUB onto your phone for reading with Freda, put the EPUB into a DropBox folder, an OPDS catalog (for instance by running Calibre on your PC), or onto a web-site. Freda can fetch EPUB files from any of those locations.
