Hello all,
I currently have cookies energy rom installed/hardspl/radio 2.12
i just installed froyo v3 that just came out, but i have had a issue with it since v2,
i have no sound at all... when android first starts up and i unlock it it makes the initial unlock sound, then BAM, nothing. i get no screen clicks, no sound in calls, i can see available ringtones on sound settings but it will not play them. any help here? i have the media folder in root of SD with all sounds (alarms UI etc). i am at a loss and are contemplating a hard reset as i really like and want to use android. yes i am clicking clrcad before booting, volume is %100, silent is NOT on. i am not a noob here. thanks!
This is in the readme:
"Make sure to reboot after first boot, apps needing root access won't work. Phone calls will have no audio. Make sure you reboot!"
I'm sure you have rebooted already, but it would be better to post it in HD2 Froyo v3 thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=735532

In between testing Karmba and Schaps ROMs on my Trinity I realized that it was not ringing any more. Income calls get through, I can see the pop un in the screen but no audible ring. Music and every other audible notification is working fine.Last night I flashed back to Karmba a7.2 elias, and it started ringing, but this morning problem was there again. Any idea? Will be that soft or hard problem?
No ring
I have the same problem. I cannot get my phone to ring. I what WM6.1 and when you try and change the ring, it will revert back to "Ring-WindowsMob" and you can not exit the screen by hitting the "OK" button or the "OK" on the screen. Any help would be great.

I just have the same problem after a couple of moths using Faman 4.0 with no mayor issues, it stopped ringing, all other sounds or music are ok.
I had the same problem, because tha wma file format was associated to another player and not to the standard player...

The Notification bug in Windows Mobile 2003 / WM 5.0 that causes slowdowns and alarm problems, i have resolved my problem with pmclean .

sorry for my bad english,i'm italian people
Happened on my Xperia
I lost the incoming rings and the ability to change ringtone when I associated wma files with mortplayer.
I unchecked it in mortplayers settings and now everything is fine again.
Thanks speederi.
guys, it might be a 3rd party software that causes the issue. Did you guys install any other softwares that relates to audio before the problem occurs?
Like myself, i installed SRS WOW (and might did something wrong to it) - sounds were ok but after i turn off the device and wake it up, sounds are gone - actually it still plays, but very2 soft and you can hardly hear (even if i set the vol on max).
Doing an uninstall doesn't help at all. Luckily i had backup (using SPB) before installation, so i just restore back those data and got everything working back as normal.
Maybe more info would help for the rest to troubleshoots?
Hello everyone,
It's been 4 weeks now since I own the HD2. It's quite a beast, I love it. Except there seems to be an issue with my device when it comes to sound (anything: mp3, youtube, ringtones, alarms, even the sound played when you take a photo): it crashes. No matter what I do, no matter when (idle or in use), it makes it crash.
I did the test and couldn't have the phone being used with sound in the same session for more than 4 hours in a row, or it would crash. Sometimes, after a fresh reboot, the first incoming message, leading the phone to play a ringtone to tell me I got a new message, would make the phone crash. Instantly (sound wouldn't play at time, or just the first half-second would play and then nothing or infinite replay of the first 0.5 sec of the sound - quite annoying btw).
So I move to vibration only. And tada! No more crashes. The phone has been up for more than 160 hours now and it never crashed. I used 20MB of my data connection, sent 55 SMS, received tons of emails (like over 200), used the phone functionality for about 150 minutes and everything works fine. Took countless amount of photos and everything just works.
BUT! I miss the sound! I want it. I can't use the phone as an alarm when I'm on a business trip! I can't hear a ringtone when the phone is left on the kitchen table and I'm in the living room (vibrate does the work when the phone is in my pocket or when I'm in a meeting, which doesn't happen a lot).
How can I know if the issue is hardware or software related? Is there something I could install to trace a crash and see what is going wrong? Sometimes, I can use the phone with sound for a couple of hours and other times the very first sound would make it crash. How can I fix this without have to return my phone (bought it in China, wish I could get a replacement but now I'm back in Montreal/Canada).
is your phone branded? where did you buy it?
LG
Similar problem
I have a similar problem. My HTC HD2 crashes when i turn the volume to max.
I have tried uninstalling the SRS WOW application but i does not help.
When booting into Froyo Android v2.2 it doesn't crash but the sound is distant somehow. I can listen to mp3 songs but the vocals will often disappear.
I bought the phone with 3 in Sweden.
Flashed with Kumars custom rom.
Please help!

I am a beginner and i just got done flashing that Rom, With my Previous roms that i have tested everything seems to work perfect except for a couple of issues, When placing a call i hear alot of static on my side and the other side of the phone as well in which no one can hear as to what i am saying. Any Ideas as to what it could it be? I have the New Mod plus the Magdlr and the Clockwork mod recovery plus the Radio 2.15.
Could be the "robot voice". I've heard that you can fix it permenently by disabling key tones in the dialer, or fix till you restart by going into speakerphone and then out of speakerphone while in a call.
This type of post would be better put in that rom's thread, though a search of that rom's thread would have turned up your answer (if you knew to call it robot voice in the search)
Thanks i disabled Audible Tones and thats gone now ! I am still learning on what to do and This flash was my first !
just remember many/most of the roms have that 'robot voice' on the first call. either disable the tones, as you did,
or
first boot after a fresh flash/hard reset, make a call, hit loudspeaker, turn off loudspeaker, hang up, and it will be gone.
NAND V11, I've looked all over the settings for phone, sound and such but can't find out how to turn off the vibration during a call, I move the phone and it vibrates, so annoying but love the ROM and don't want to change it. How do you turn off the vibration/motion sensor during calls?
Thanks in advance.

phone vibrates during calls almost constantly
From the moment a call is ringing, I get frequent vibration cycles, most of which are when I move the phone at least a little. It started doing this out of the blue more than a year after getting the phone. its a HTC Eris running 2.3, and I'm guessing that an app is causing it. I have changed every possible setting to shut off vibrate, and still it does this. Probably because Titanium Backup is used to restore apps and data when I change ROMS, it seems to matter not which ROM I use. I hope I dont have to remove all app settings to have a chance to end this nonsense (which annoys callers almost as much as it does me). Any better ideas, folks?
Roms recently used: GSB several versions, Ginger Glass, Ginger Chrome
Hey all--
I've been unsuccessfully trying to troubleshoot this for a week or two to no avail, so I thought I'd reach out.
My phone ringtone no longer plays when I receive phone calls. Volume is up, no DoNotDisturb or silence settings on, and EVERY OTHER SOUND works just fine (e.g. app notifications, music/video, etc). If I go to my ringtone settings and try to select ANY option, NO audio plays for anything. However, I DO hear audio when trying to choose a new notification sound. Just nothing on the ringtone.
I acknowledge it may be due to some app I've installed recently, but I can't seem to trace it back to any one in particular. Next step is a full reset, which I'd prefer not to do... Anyone experienced this?

I've dealt with a few ringtone-related issues in the past, but not a prolonged one like you are describing.
Try this:
1. Clear all recent (open) Apps using the recent Apps button.
2. reboot: turn your phone off, and back on
3. do the Apps drawer>Device Help>Fix>Hardware Test>Speaker Test (even if you hear it, answer " no" and leave it marked as if the hardware test failed, continue to operate your phone full-time with this marked as fail)
4. Go to select your ringtone, tap once on desired ringtone and give it about 3 seconds, then tap a second time on same ringtone and it should play at normal volume. Press ok. ringtone should be working...If not, reboot phone and try #3. speaker test again.
DUDE. I don't really understand how, but that totally worked (first time on step 4, too)! You are a scholar and a gentleman, and I send you many real (and one digital) thanks. ???
