I am using Android on my HTC HD2 for around 3 months now and I am really excited... It is like buying an totally new phone. The only major issue I have is that the calendar does not work!!! I always get the message
"The process com.htc.calendar stopped unexpectedly.... OR
"The process com.htc.bpg stopped unexpectedly....
Any help is appreciated
I'm bumping this thread as I'm having the same problem... I can't use anything calendar-related in Android without getting "The process com.htc.calendar stopped unexpectedly"
I'm currently using MCCM v3.4 (continuation of Darkstone's FroyoStone) but it's been the case since I got this phone with FroyoStone 3.0 and remained when I upgraded to 3.2. I'm also using a stock(-ish) 2.10 WM ROM... at the moment.
Any suggestions as to where to look/tweak?
Thanks in advance.
Bumping again.
So... many views (177 as I type this) and no responses. Can I assume from this that the original poster and I are the only ones experiencing this sort of issue?
I'd really, really, really like to be able to use a calendar in android!

Yeah, maybe we're just 'special'!
There seem to be a bunch of app managers available... any particular one recommended for the functions suggested above?
Thanks!

hey,
the stock android app mngr will do the trick (settings> applications> manage applications) or if you want something with more options try 'quick system info' from the market.
hope it works for u.

Hah!!! I've been brainwashed by the wealth of stuff available from the market (e.g. SystemPanel), and it's been so long since I've needed to use settings> applications> manage applications, that I'd forgotten you can clear cache and data using it!
As an update, there was no cache to clear for calendar, and only 2.0kB of data... clearing that didn't stop me from getting "com.htc.calendar has stopped unexpectedly" ... so I'm not expecting a reboot to help... but time to try it anyway... only my 17th reboot of the week!
Edit: Holy [email protected]!!! As mentioned, clearing data for Calendar itself made no difference, but I hadn't noticed 'Calendar Storage' just below it in the list... deleted the 48.0kB of data for this app, et voilà... calendar worketh! ... even without that 17th reboot of the week...
Thanks again for the suggestions.
good stuff, glad it worked for you

hi guys..
I have updated to DC 2.08 and almost everything is perfect.
my problem is with Handcent. It will not show the images of my friends. I have tried uninstall Handcent.. reload.. rebooting. I have deleted ALL text messages, but new messages do not show images.
I tested with the stock sms app, and it shows the images!!!!!
Anybody have a fix for this???
Also... I heard that this new ROM will remove the annoying .. double menu - pop up- on thing. ie. when you press menu twice to wake up the phone... the menu pops up. But it is still there!!!
Love the ROM, fast and stable. these are my only issues.. so I am hopping someone can point me to the fix.
Thanks all!
I have the same issue. Sometimes it happens randomly. I don't think it has to do with the ROM in particular. It happens nearly every time I swap or upgrade ROMS or restore all my apps via Titanium after a wipe. :/
Would like to know the answer to this.

No, I do not use friendstream. Checked it, and there is nothing in it. It says I do not appear to be logged into any sociual networks, which is correct... I currently do not subscribe to any.
yes, I do have Auto-Retrieve enabled on the stock sms app.

yeah.. been using Handcent since i got the phone back in Dec. and have used it with all sorts of ROMs and all of DC's ROMs too. DC2.08 is the only ROM that has caused this to happen.
Maybe it is time to try a different SMS app.???
Looks like I can not find a solution to correct handcent
Downloaded compsms
It is working just fine
Now I can see contact images

I had a problem on DC 2.05 I think it was where handcent wouldnt work but I think it had more to do with the update that handcent sent out I would have suggested uninstalling and reinstalling

make sure to always do the basic troubleshooting before reporting an issue. uninstalling and reinstalling is probably a good place to start. also consider a fresh wipe and reinstall of the ROM.
happy flashing!

yes.. you are 100% right!!
please reread my original post. Did the reinstallation of handcent x2. did not help.
I did not reinstall the ROM. That was a last resort for me, because I have everything setup as I want it.
It is odd that both stock app and compsms works fine, and shows the contact images. So, I am leaning towards Handcent latest update was the issue. it must be conflicting with something on my phone... maybe DC 2.08.
Anyways, CompSMS is working fine. I like Handcent better, but this OK. The new big comp widget is odd to me, not sure if I like it.

Same problem on JPA and JPO (not sure if I had this on JM1)
EDIT: It seems to also happen when I install new applications, don't even have to reboot to see the problem.

Hi,
having the exact same problem as described. Tried different versions of Darky's ROM, currently running on 9.3. Extreme. But also experienced on 9.2. Can't remember if it occured on preinstalled Samsung Froyo.
Isn't there really any solution to this ? It's really annoying not to have an option to sort your icons when they keeps messing up after reboot.
What ROMs are you having, guys ?

Looks like lots of things can move your icons update of apps can shift stuff around .
But if you are not updating> factory resetting etc then the apps should stay where they are on a stock rom after a reboot .

Solution
Guys, this issue has a relatively simple solution, the problem is with your touchwiz not saving correctly setting, do the following:
Go to Settings > Applications > All
In here, go find TwLauncher and click it, DON'T click force stop now just click the "clear data" button.
After this, your icons will mess around again, ordered alphabetically, just restart phone.
That should do it, next time you organize your apps they should stay where you left them.
I hope it help you guys, cheers!
EDIT:
If the above wasn't enough (in most cases it should), you can try to get Root Explorer and go to:
/dbdata/databases/
find the com.sec.android.app.twlauncher folder and delete it.
This is harmless, but it will again order alphabetically your apps, this folder will be restored again on next boot, so restart phone after.

Didn't try deleting com.sec.android.app.twlauncher but instead clearing works. More feedback pls
I had the problem, changed ROM and solved.
hi all. im getting that annoying 'sorry process com.htc.bgp has stopped working' crap every time it tries to sync facebook contacts. ive done tones of searching and tried removing and re adding the facebook account, clearing data/cache. it not a clash with google cos it does it even when im not logged in to google, ive tried official 1.5 rom - no problem there, accepted the first part of update -still no problem, accepted the 2.1 update - boom! it also does it on villain 12 now. have no idea why its just started doing it
anyone else having this issue at the mo?
HAve you tried updating the facebook app
found on google ( apparently you need to backup your contacts first
goto settings, applications, manage applications, all
then search "contacts storage", click on it, then choose "clear data".
after that the contact storage should work again, allthough you lost all data
in it...

Hi, thanks 4 the reply. I have tried clearing contact storage with no luck when u say update Facebook do u mean Facebook 4 android (if so, yep, done that) or Facebook 4 sense (if so, how do I do that?)
This is really p***ing me off now

Hi there,
An interesting cause i read about is apostrophess in names. Apparently the contact sync messes up if you have an ' in your name.... others also recommend clearing "Calendar Storage".
I know that installing a a custom rom fixes all (but adds its own problems )
Good luck!
Hi. Yeah, that was the cause of a previous error but not this time. After a lot more searching and the help of a tech friend it seems that its a sql mismatch between sense n Facebook. Htcs response was basically 'turn it off n on again'! So basically I say **** you HTC and am now on custom, no-sense Rom n my next phone won't be HTC!

Seems so I do like the look of sense but I'm now on elelinux 2.2 special running its default kernel speeds and its over twice as fast as stock 2.1 (4.1mflops as opposed to 1.8) and nearly twice as fast as my gf's wildfire on stock 2.2 (she gets 2.2mflops) and with adw launcher to customize everything actually looks better than sense... screw you HTC

Did some research and found a fix for the Nexus One (mine at least) where the online market shows that an app has been downloaded and installed, but never shows up on the phone. Does not require a data wipe:
1) go to settings>applications>manage applications>all>google services framework>clear data
2) same settings>applications>manage applications>all>market>clear cache and force close
3) go to Titanium Backup and filter by "All" and Apply. Scroll to Market, click on it and select Wipe Data.
4) Reboot phone
5) Open and sign out of GTalk, then re-open and sign in.
6) Open Market and accept agreement. Let it load your apps. Close Market.
7) Go to market.android.com and sign in. Go to My Market Account>Settings tab>Edit>Nickname your phone and click Update.
8) Download an app. My downloads now start almost immediately.
Done!
Mods, posted in Q&A also. Thought it would be of benefit here too, feel free to move/delete.
It works, Thanks!!
thank you very much
was looking for a solution for a while, thank you!

bumpity bump bump
it works, but i'm wondering why such a problem occurs.. bit weird
This morning, I decided to look at the 'My Apps' list through Android Market to see if I had anything to update. Typically there are about 20 apps to look at. Now there are only 3. I am running a stock Epic. I powered cycled the phone thinking it might have been a glitch. Same problem still occurring. Has anyone had this happen to them?
sent from my go-go Gadget phone
Indeed it did, and the issue lasted for a long time and I have no idea why. But I *may* have done a few things which helped fix it and perhaps Google was also at fault on their end, because the issue resolved and never came back (yet). Here's what helped:
-in the Market, download a program which clears your cache. 2 I use are Apps2SD and AntTek App Manager (requires root). The AntTek one is used less often because it clears more caches at a deeper level, but you may want to try it. First:
-go to phone settings/applications/manage applications. Find the Market app and clear both cache and data. You will receive a warning, but don't worry, all you'll need to do is accept Market terms and conditions again when launching. But don't launch Market yet.
-now, clear cache using the apps I suggested or maybe one or more of your own choice.
-launch Market again, accept T+C and now you hopefully will have all your apps back. The problem may reoccur but somehow I doubt your phone is at fault if it does. Eventually a combination of what you do and whatever the big G does may solve it like I think it did with me. Good luck.
Thanks!

Glad it helped. It would be nice if it was only a one-time event for you, unlike it was for me (about a dozen). Maybe (haha) this upcoming new version of the Market will be more *reliable* too.
That has happened a few times to me. I usually have to remove the battery to get them to show up again

I've also found that if you search for them and select or update them, usually they repopulate. It happens a lot to me when I flash the rom when restoring a nandroid backup.
