There seems to be al lot of "confusion" on what to post where. Here's how we order the HD2 section:
Windows Mobile:
[HD2 General] WinMo information, news etc.
[HD2 Q&A] WinMo specific questions
[ROM Development] Windrows ROMs
Android:
[HD2 Android General] Android information, news etc.
[Android Development] android projects and ROMs
[HD2 Android Q&A] Android specific questions
Mixed:
[HD2 Themes & Apps] Themes and user-developed apps (Mixed!)
[HD2 Accessories] Docks, headphones, carkitts, batteries etc. (Mixed!)
yes, it would be more easily fore new users to have separate thread's fore there themes.
The hole Leo group is growing, so we need some categorize.
Not a wise design. The problem with trying to improve something is, sometimes you make it unusable and complicated. You are making things harder by trying to make them easier. I thought it was the speciality of Microsoft.
I think the idea is brilliant. There's a WinMo themes/apps section, there should definitely be an Android one.
Let me clarify, the question is not "Would you like to have another forum?", the question is "Is it needed?".
I'm sure if another forum is thrown in most users will accept, but are there problems in HD2 specific android themes and apps that would be solved by separating the two T&A fora? Remember we have a T&A for all android devices in the D&H Android section (for all non-device specific WVGA themes for example).
Are there even themes on HD2 that do not work on other devices?

For now this isn't the winmo T&A but it's for both,

No. You can find Android themes and apps all over this place in other sub forums. No need for a specific HD2 section. Lets think out of the box and visit the desire forum for instance.
i want know please
hi erverybody
i want know somthink
can i change my rom ChuckyROMs to rom ANDROID ,(we dont copy android to sd ),,???
and thank you everybody in xda devlopers
and the best thanks to devlopers of this website
I think it would be nice to have. It would allow modders to post themes and skins that are install-friendly for the HD2.
When I looked for different themes or mods on other non-hd2 threads, most needed to be flashed from recovery (which can't be done for the HD2 android builds).
thank you
what is the best rom windows mobile for RUN android ,,?
i have ChuckyROMs it is very good for run android to my phone htc HD2 leo;,,????
magldr boot problem
hi
i'm new to android and to xda, my first experience was with NexusHD2-Gingerbread V3.3a native sd, i read about flash zip files from recovery to update the rom as this ROM can't read Arabic,i go to ad recovery and found nothing there, so i install MAGLDR_CWM_Recovery_v3.2.0.0_for_NexusHD2_135M, and flash update as i want, but now i can't boot automatically to nexus, its stop on maglder menu and load after choose boot adsd , any idea to make it boot normally ?

Hello.
I've been trying to boot android the opal by trying the vogue kernal (since it has the same specs as the opal) on the opal until i came across this. a fellow xda-dev member had some good news on android booting on the opal.
heres the original quote from him in the "LINUX BOOTS at OPAL! Thanks to linwizard project!" thread.
MusikMonk said:
I have some good news, Android can boot on the Opal. This is just a proof of concept as it's missing tons of drivers and is completely useless.
Touchscreen and all keys except for the volume control (and obviously the reset button) are not working. So you basically can't do anything when you run it.
What I tried is the same as what's written in this thread about running Android on Gene. They're using the build made for the Herald/Wing (just as I was proposing in my last post) with customized initramfs and kernel.
You'll find all the necessary details in that thread. However, there's a newer build than the one mentioned there it's wing-linux-0.4pre2.cab. And the suitable kernel for that build is supposed to be the pre2 posted in this post but it didn't work on my Opal so I tried the older Gene kernel and it worked. The main difference between the two is bluetooth support, and that's obviously is of no use for us.
This doesn't effect the Windows rom, nor does it requires any special partitioning. Still it's best to have everything backed up before launching it, just in case.
This is the official site for the wing/herald build:
http://wing-linux.sf.net/
This thread on their forums about the Gene port will probably be of use to us:
http://sourceforge.net/apps/phpbb/wing-linux/viewtopic.php?f=4&t=4
I'm reading about the next steps but as I said before, I don't have any previous experience or knowledge about this type of things. If someone can give me hand, I would be more than grateful. At any rate, once I have better understanding of the concept I'll contact the people behind the Wing and the Gene ports.
P.S: If you do try to run this, keep in mind that this will take lots of time, specially for the first launch. And when you get an error saying something like "android sh: can't access tty" just ignore it and keep waiting. After a while you'll have a flashing "android" on the screen, and after some more waiting you'll reach the main screen.

i've not tried it yet, but the touchscreen drivers and buttons are not working. if anyone could help build a android kernel for the opal, it would be extremly great!
This thread will be used for future android builds for the opal.
It is possible "Android" in this mobile ????
I would like install to
no, i don't think you can install, but you can boot it from haret. i'm not sure too how to boot it though, trying to find a way.
okay i tried reached till ANDROID boot screen struck waiting for fone to respond.. responded now struck on power off screen..
nothing happens powering offffff strucks.. any way it worked half way.. now i have hope one day will run android on opal
If the Opal is based on the Omap850 chipset, anyone care to try the Wing-linux project on their phones? It's Android ported (or in the process of being ported) to the Wing/Herald. The keys won't be mapped to your phones but I wonder if it will actually boot all the way to the Android desktop. (Btw, the first boot takes a long time to finish.)
would love to try android!!

At any rate, the main thread is here:

I would appreciate any help because, at the moment, I seem to be the only Opal owner working on the port. And I lack the experience.
I was working on modifying the kernel so that the touchscreen would work but I ran into some problems and I've been too busy during the last week to do anything concerning this project.
i'll be happy if anyone could post links to videos showing android running on our HTC touch viva
I got Android CupCake installed and working on my HTC Opal a few weeks back using the WingLinux.
Keys are not mapped and Android is not fully functional but never the less, its android 1.6 on your viva...u can chk da pic off my facebook album, i dnt wanna upload'em again:

what is special in android which make it different from windows? How it connect to windows pc and linux?

I think its good idea
Im proposing for TM HD2 version merge under HD2 sub (because they were sharing with same Android developement
Mybad-------
I'm a little bit disappointed. I hoped that will be possible new android build try first time from SD and then best of them flash to NAND, because of testing on SD card is a much easier. But now development of SD and NAND is completely separated. I don't think that this is best, but I understand that too much thread is not good.
Perfect - a no-brainer: simple, organised, categorised and scalable. Do it!
very good idea!!
Maybe @ Ram roms, other then that it looks perfect. I definately voted yes!!!

its a sound idea, i would actually love to read what it is that admins etc do not like about ideas like this, its clear it makes sense and as things go mental with WP7 and android running from NAND its only going to get worse in the existing structure.
Logic i fear does not come in to it and i suspect it'l be something along the lines of...."you people (by that i mean us) are all too stupid to work out where to post"
Thats the kind of mentality they have with everything else so id love to actually hear from the horses mouth their reasoning.

My guess is that in time, with nand android becoming more and more reliable all these SD/RAM ver will merge to NAND.
People who like dual-booting will find the best suited SD ver and keep it for a longer period and will not want to flash everyday but only when major updates are available.
So my suggestion is to only differentiate SD/RAM to NAND builds.
In time NAND will be the way to go and SD will fall behind.
As for the entire HD2 tree, I'm not sure if it's necessary to create meego, ubuntu, etc sections.
i would make only wm6.5/android/wp7/other builds subsections.
Looks good to me but what happens when people start having builds which use RAM and NAND or NAND and SD?
I voted YES for this as i believe the forum needs a rethink but, just to open a possible can of worms... separating SD from NAND may mean cooks concentrate on one type of build rather than both, probably NAND leaving those SD users out in the cold -because cooks might not want to post two separate threads for a release.
Another suggestion:

Basically, I think that the most simple is to concentrate on how the rom boots :
if it boots from SD => subforum SD android, nevermind if it is pure SD or SD+RAM (could be written in the topic's subject for example)
if it boots from NAND => subforum NAND android, nevermind if it uses a Ramdisk or SD for data.img (idem. could be mentionned in the subject)
Considering this, I wonder if a subforum "RAM android" is really necessary as a RAM android is either based on SD build or based on NAND build
just my 2 cent....

I propose each new section include a header for thanks, uncontrollable urges to make personal comments and the like. Trying to follow a thread can become all but impossible to do amid the high-fiving competitions. I'm happy that there's a spirit of community here and I'm thankful that the moderators foster that community, but it does get in the way of trying to learn something.
Nice idea..
Hi
Now that we have 3 versions of android (2.2,2.3,3.0) being developped for the HD2, maybe we can add a sub-forum for each:
HD2 Android Q&A and General
HD2 Android SD Development
-Android Version 2.2
-Android Version 2.3
-Android Version 3.0
HD2 Android NANAD Development
-Android Version 2.2
-Android Version 2.3
-Android Version 3.0
HD2 Android Themes and Apps
That'd be stupid and useless and just too many sub-forums. Come on, it's not that hard to find what you're look for in the dev section and they're usually tagged too.
cause i open every page of my interest in another tab i would have to open to much pages and my pc would crash.
and there's only one 3.0 rom that isn't for daily use so.....
all right then
This is a thread to delete !

You could have simply looked in the HD2 android development forums. Anyways if you want android to run from you SD card go here: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=736545 or choose a different rom in the android SD development forums. If you want it to replace windows mobile go here for instructions: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=939682 and go here for the rom: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=954369. I guess its your personal preference for froyo but I recommend gingerbread for SD here: http://androidadvices.com/htc-hd2-steps-to-install-android-2-3-gingerbread-os/ and for NAND here: http://www.jayceooi.com/2011/01/04/download-mdj-gingerbread-nand-android-rom-for-htc-hd2/. Hope you're successful with your installation.
Hi
Is there a ROM Upgrade (ANDROID 2.1 or 2.2) for HTC TOUCH HD?
I know there are some files like haret.exe but i like to do it with this
program: rom update utility
( you can search it on google images)
I have upgrade my HTC TOUCH HD to htc touch hd with sense
and now i like to do that but than with android!
Is that possible????
Thanks a lot
and so sorry for my english !!
no, currently there is no complete stand alone nand android rom for the blackstone since it is not yet stable and many features are not working (like bluetooth or 3.5mm). but afaik it is being worked on so there might actually one day be a full android rom for the nand instead of the sd card.
Moved thread to android section

Hey,
I'm sry about my question (and my english, just got "school-english-skills" from Germany, a few years ago ), tried to do the search but found nothing I'm able to understand...
A good friend of mine has a HTC HD Touch (Blackstone?) and wants to flash a "stable" Android Version on it. I'm able to flash the HTC Magic, Wildfire, Desire & co. but I'm not able to understand what I've got to to, wich files I need and what I should do with that.
Could anyone help me ? Linked files that I need and a short instruction would be very very great !
(Please do me a favour and don't say something like "use search" and so on, I need to understand what I have to do with wich files )
Many thanks in advance
There is no flashable android rom for Blackstone yet
exactly. as of now, there is no android rom for the internal flash (nand) to replace the current windows mobile os. but there are still ways to get android working alongside winmo, by simply putting it on the sd card.
basically, what you need is a rom, haret and ts-calibration+startup.txt.
for the rom itself, there are dozens of different roms around this very forum section. look for the most recent ones and compare them by the features needed. some of them hardly have any support for the blackstone hardware, when it comes to camera, sound, BT, 3.5mm jack, calling... and are purely for fun and apps, some others are more suitable for everyday use. make sure to read a few posts of user feedback to get what you want.
most roms come with their own haret package (the winmo program to boot android), which, like the rom itself, needs to be extracted to the sd card root.
ts-calibration is the file needed to store the touch screen calibration, so you don't have to align it yourself, which can be tricky in android.
startup.txt stores the boot commands, which can be altered to your needs, have a look at a few of them and pick the best one (which seems difficult at first, but you can search any command in there to find out what it means). some come with overclocking or different values which can speed up or slow down the device, it set wrong.
and, to sum it all up, here is a tutorial thread describing the whole installation (well, copy) process:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=959831
it is not completely up to date, but you can use the same tutorial, the same haret, ts-calibration and startup for other, newer roms, like blazn 2.2.2 or whatever you want.
