Why are mms messages broken up? - Droid Incredible General

Hey all. I have been using Handcent for awhile now and while it is a great app I miss the stock messaging app. However, I switched to Handcent because whenever I got a mms message in the stock sms app the pictures and sound would be in 2 different attachments. If I got a picture that had a sound clip, the picture would be 1 attacment and the sound clip would be the 2nd attachment. I had to look at the picture, close the attachment then listen to the sound. Is this a bug with the app or is there a setting somewhere I'm not seeing?? Thanks for any help.

Why does the Evo Send MMS as Slideshow!

Every MMS message I try to attach a picture or video to sends it as a stupid slide-show. It just does make that much sense (no pun intended). Is there a workaround or fix for this, its just seems like a crappy way to go about sending a MMS message. Chomp and Handcent don't do it that way but I dont like how the icons dont show the unread SMS count just a notification.
I apologize in advance if this has already been discussed but this is my Rant for the day!
I noticed that occurs when someone adds text in addition to the picture. Also handcent does show number of messages under the icon if you put the widget icon on your screen as opposed to the app icon.
Hey - Thanks for the heads up on Handcent.

[Q] SMS/MMS questions

hey guys searched but did not find the answer....
I just got the Tmobile g2 and im new to android OS, had a TP2 before. How can I set the MMS message of a contact to stay on longer? When I view a picture message it just stays on for a couple seconds then goes right back to the text message. Is there any setting that I can make this longer?
Also is there a setting somewhere that can make it so that when I click the contact's picture, it will dial that contact automatically? I had this feature in my TP2 and would love to set it up like that.
Thanks in advance all
I would recommend downloading chompsms. I just did this for the first time last week and it blows away the standard android sms app.

Thanks for the reply, I was able to find the answers to both question. I downloaded the Handcent sms app and so far loving it, i'll give chompsms a try.
SMS notification bug
Hello, I wonder if some one here have same problem: Some times my HTC Desire Z with latest ROM doesn't want to notify me that sms is received, and I should randomly go in to Messages folder and find out there that there are some unread messages. It is not a Settings problem, because it is happening randomly. Let's assume every 10 or 15 message will be missed. Also, If i see that there are unread messages, i can read them from Messages folder, not from notification bar. And if I do so, notification in notification bar will not disappear, until i clear it manually... really strange. Thanks for solutions.

The length of each slide is decided when composing the MMS. If the sender sets it to 7 seconds (5 is default) then it will only be on for 7s. Save the attachment and you can view it for longer.

Factory restore after update helped to solve this problem
Desire Z
I have the same issue and it wasnt this way on the vibrant or the original MyTouch 3G. When someone sends an MMS, say a picture message, it shows up as a short 10 second video. I have tried saving as an attachment but didnt seem to allow me to do that.

[Q] SMS App crashes everytime I receive a picture message

I started using ChompSMS, but everytime I get a picture message, the stock SMS app crashes. Why? Right now, I use it as a way to tell when I've gotten a picture message, but it's really annoying. Why does it crash?

[Q] MMS Pixelated In Default Messaging App

I've noticed that in the default messaging app that pictures from MMS look pixelated until I save them and view them in the gallery app. The same applies to chomp SMS, but Hangouts seems to handle picture messages properly. Does anyone know of a way to fix this for the default messaging app? Or maybe someone knows of an SMS app that puts a notification on the lock screen where you can launch directly into that conversation without pulling down the notification shade (if that's even possible since it wouldn't be a first party app). Thanks for any suggestions you all might have.

mms picture question

Is there a way when receiving picture messages in the stock app to not have multiple pics come in as a slideshow?
