Hey,
I have searched the forum, and haven't found threads pertaining to what I really want to know.
I have also read on MSDN code samples pertaining to this topic.
Basically, I am aiming to create a new transport DLL for MMS/Email/SMS/etc. [which will go along with a whole suite of programs]. What I am trying to do is avoid the use of CE MAPI.
From the research I have done, I think I have figured that to send SMS via RIL, I need to encrypt the SMS somehow, but I am not positive of that [however, I think I saw this in a thread somewhere]. I am totally baffled in terms of MMS. I am pretty sure that for E-Mails I can just connect to the internet and such with the phone and do the standard transmission of emails.
I saw people talking about using WAP to send MMS ... which would make sense because the data connection for MMS does have an IP address ... it said it used the MM1 standard/method. I couldn't find anything more though
So can anyone lend a hand here?
Thank You VERY much !

I wonder if anyone has any suggestions: I have used the settings that I found here a while ago, to attempt to access the internet with my XDA II; I have bought a prepay o2 SIM card as my contract doesn't support internet access - but it is very very cheap.
I can access the internet, I can get on to Google, and things like the BBC website that seems to be built in to the o2 active is fine; but I can't get onto other websites such as Yahoo Mail (I did once, but it's gone sulky on me and refuses to cooperate now).
If I search Google, it will come up with the usual list of websites, and it is quite often possible to get the information I need from the clues there, but it refuses to let me get onto whatever the website is.
Can anyone think of anything I could do? Is it the Pay and go SIM card, or is my XDA II not powerful enough? Any thoughts would be very welcome.
the question has been answered by exploring another thread; I changed the portal (possibly) from 80 to 8080 and it now works. I should be looked further before answer the question, but thanks to those who post useful information.
Hi everyone,
I recently added an unlimited texting plan to my phone. It's so useful that I replaced my SE K750i with a Kaiser to be able to text faster. The problem is that now I love all the internet features of the phone, but I can't really afford to add an unlimited data plan to my account.
So here's what I was thinking: I've seen different tunneling systems that let one go online through different services. One of them was IP over DNS which let one surf the internet on a protected wifi network as long as there was a public DNS server reachable. The other was a IP over ICMP which worked the same way, only over ping packets. I'd like to build something similar, only over SMS. I know it'd be extremely slow, but it'd be a lifesaver for doing basic internet browsing, such as checking a Wikipedia article, or updating RSS feeds, etc..
My question is, does something like this exist? If not, what would be the best way to approach this? What are some obstacles I could find on the way? What's the best way for the server computer to communicate with the phone? Right now, the only way I can think of is by sending emails to the phone's email address.
What do you guys think?
Thanks for your time,
Hernan

Hy everybody, I have from two weeks already a HTC diamond, a beutiful phone with everything you need apart the up time.
I am not a noob in internet technologies, I am working with and on the net for more then 10 years already.
I configured on my phone a hotmail account, the easiest one, a yahoo account, a gmail account and another yahoo account and all work fine but my job mail account, the one I configured on a SE K850 with no difficulty is not working on this beautiful diamond.
Is a simple POP3/SMTP account on a private mail server and I have no problem configure it on any outlook, or outlook express on any computer. My colleagues has blackberry and i phones and works fine, i was the only stupid enough to buy a WM phone. Incoming is POP3 on 110 outgoing requires authentication SMTP on 25.
I tried to configure outlook I have on diamond is not working at all, i tried to configure it as a normal account receive is working, send is not working.
I tried to go in connections-advanced server settings-and to change connection (i have Internet, Work, Vodafone Live, Vodafone MMS and Vodafone Ro), is not working, i have an active internet connection, wap, i tried with WiFi active, without, the same result, receive ok, send it says "The message(s) could not be sent. check that you have network coverage and that your network coverage is correct. Then try sending again."
As the receive is working and the log in information for send is identical with the log in information for receive I think that the account information is correct.
So, where is the problem, can anybody help me? I would like to configure the outlook and (if possible) synchronize it with the one on my computer, it would be the best, but I don't know why I can't, and if outlook is not possible maybe I can get it to work as a regular mail account.
Please don't tell me to do something I did already.
Thanks,
Ionut
maybe a TCP view or TPC log would help me to find the problem.
TCP view or TPC log would help me to find the problem. Do you know any? I found a thread on it but still no answer. WX util is not working, i need something like TCP View.

I really don't like WM because is so opaque, is doing things but does them as he wants and not as you want. For example, why the hell when I am connected on a wifi connection is using my mobile internet connection to send and receive mails????
check the thread i posted in the Touch Pro forum. This was a common problem WM6.1 resulting from a new WM feature. Sometimes sending would work and sometimes not..
Anyway, microsoft recently published a patch for this..You can find the link in the thread below. It is meant for all WM6.1 devices

This did work for me by the way
Hi - I have a similar issue, but with gmail. Incoming works perfectly via imap, however outgoing emails do not work at all. I tried the patch mentioned above, changing outgoing smtp.gmail.com to smtp.gmail.com:465 or 587 and it still doesn't work. Also tried to create the account again to no avail.
I used the standard settings on gmail site https://mail.google.com/support/bin/answer.py?answer=78886 - dunno what I am missing here!! Any help would be nice
Hi people why don't yo read before posting, this is not the right thead...!!! please.
Hi.
I have configured my HD2 to connect to my mailserver via IMAP. I can receive just fine but I cannot send. I get this error:
The message(s) could not be sent. Check that you have network coverage and that your account information is correct. Then try sending again.
My settings are correct. I use the exact settings to connect my Mac Mail to my server, and I use the exact same settings to connect my android phone to my server. But this HD2 with WM6.5 is giving me problems sending emails out.
For outgoing, my server listens to both ports 25 and 587, so in my pocket outlook, to use the specific ports I included it in the outgoing URL mail.domain.com:587.
I have tried all sorts of combinations, none seem to work.
Please advice.
Thanks
bump anyone? I know it's an issue with WM 6.1...but I have WM 6.5....any ideas?? I already called TMO and the tech I spoke with has no clue what to do...

I've seen a few posts on T-Mobile's HD2 forum where some people had to change the connection used by the SMTP server in Advanced Settings. Don't recall if it should have been "T-Mobile Data" or "T-Mobile Internet".
Thanks! Uhmm... any link you can point me to? I'm really lost here and I've googled for days without any feasible solution. I've found a microsoft patch for the same exact issue but it was for WM 6.1 not 6.5....
thanks again.
I'm actually having the same issue with my gmail account. I set it up and it doesn't take my password. I've verified its the correct password by going to gmail but its still not taking it.
I don't think its a carrier issue as its doing the same thing with wifi.
I'm having the same issue, I can recieve, but cannot send. I ask TMO CSR, but they couldn't help me.
I think the problem is the pocket outlook program itself. I installed flexmail and it works fine, although I do not like flexmail's interface.
Any suggestion?
If it helps we are trying to connect to a mailenable mailserver.

I think that internet connection is not needed, as gmail password is already stored somewhere inside the software (assuming you have already set up your gmail account). You can also try to reinstall the official firmware.
If your on Android 1.5 I had this a while back its a bug, take a look here for some work a rounds and the bug detail:
