Using Boost service on Vogue - Touch CDMA General

I have searched and have done research on this for a couple weeks and now I am finally coming for help
My Vogue is unlocked and I am to flash multiple ROMS on it. I have already transferred the phone information through Boost. I know that there is no roaming with Boost service and have turned off the roaming feature and set it to Sprint Only. With all that being siad, here is my dilemma.... I have almost zero reception.
I have driven around with the phone and there a couple places outside of town where I get 1 or 2 bars and I see it switch to EV. In that period, I can make a call to another phone and all seems to be working. All other times though, i get Zero to One bar of 1x but the phone is basically useless. . I have tried about 7 different prl's thinking maybe that was the issue but that did not work. I know the phone works and I have Sprint reception in my area because all my other lines work fine. Does anyone have any idea on what I may be able to do to get this working?
Thanks in advance to all of you!

And if you dont know, maybe someone could point me in the right direction? Thanks guys.

Thread moved to General.

I believe that there is a way to program your phone to poll from the towers a bit more often as well as give it more priority, but I cannot remember the parameters for this. I will have to dig for a that a bit. The radio and rom are both good ones and should, in theory, not give you any issues. My only concern with everything you said is that you turned off the roaming feature. That is about the only other thing I can think of. What happens if you do turn it on?

Awww man those parameters would probably help a LOT. I was told that Boost can't roam so it should be kept off. When I do enable roaming, it stays at 1x and has the roaming triangle, but I cant make any calls and I get a "Verizon Wireless" message. Oddly enough, I have ssen one bar of 3G/EV today but still not nowhere near enough capacity to use the phone reliably

Full Bars but failed call?

Hey guys,
When i take the train my phone has no reception.
but when i get out of the station and wait, My phone gets full bars.
but i can't call anyone. It keeps saying "call failed, try your call again later."
my service doesn't show up, but the bars are full.
does anyone know why my machine is doing this?
thanks!
can somone please help me out. ny phone is pissing me off! I would stand one place waiting for it to search for signal but it never connects! I even have full bars!
my only way to solve this is to reset my phone!
I have full bars but it keeps searching. and no matter where I go I won't connect.
sometimes I have to keep hammering the send button to make a call.
can someone please help me out.
thanks in advance.
try put d sim card in other mobile to see if is from sim card or mobile...
it's most likely due to your radio rom. i use to have problems like this in the past. have weak signal around work. when i leave work, even though i get my bars back, it would take a while to actually be able to make a call.
recommendation 1) upgrade the radio rom on your phone. most people recommend 2.19, but i think that's what i use to have when i had weaker signal. signal would pick up and allow me to make calls considerable quicker in 2.25.11 and higher.
recommendation 2) in comm manager turn your phone off and then back on, when you get the signal back, you should be able to make a call.
When i turn on my phone the radio says 2.25. so am i using the wrong version?
I don't get it.
thanks
If you've upgraded to any version of windows mobile 6 then 2.25 is almost definitely your problem. Try using 2.19 or 2.69 as they seem to be the only ones that don't experience this problem. There are people working on a fix for the rest of them, but I'm not sure that they have finished the fix yet and the last time I read their posts the fix may only work on cingular or at&t when they do get it working.
Thanks, But im using WM5 with T-mo
sorry i left this info out.
so which version should i use?
Thanks in advance.

Then it should be pretty much fair game for whatever version you like. 2.69 is still the newest and seem to work pretty well. I have heard of pretty good results with the 2.4 something or other version as well but I would probably go with 2.69 myself.
Thanks,
is the faria 02.69.11.rar the correct one?
thanks
Yes, that one works very well, and the one that avatar28 was mentioning (the 2.4 something) is 2.47. I actually like that one better than 2.69 but it doesen't like to work with WM6.

LOL. Yeah, that one. Sorry, I'm a bit short on sleep at the moment and my brain's a touch fuzzy plus I've been away for awhile.
That's ok, just thought I'd help you out there a little. 2.47 is a really good radio version. I wish I could still use it because I got better reception and better recovery time from that one than every other one I've tried and I've tried them all. 2.69 comes in a close 2nd though.

Updated to tmobile cupcake and now location problems

Tried searching but no luck. I was using JF ADP 1.5 and my location in google maps without using GPS was pretty accurate and up to date. I put the JF tmobile cupcake on my G1 and now my location barely even updates let alone be even remotely accurate. should I wipe my phone and see if that helps? I think I have the new radio installed. How can I verify the new radio version?
Anyone? I rely on this feature quite a bit.
Look at upgrading to jf 1.51 3.3.2 by cyanogen or thedudes 1.2a there are no location issues that I am aware of
power down
press and hold power and camera button.
you should read the radio ending "26I"
that's the lastest radio.

Okay, I have the newest radio then.
Id like to just keep using this ROM. I'm just going to wipe it in a little while.

Well, I wiped my phone and that didn't work. Then I went back to JF ADP 1.5 and still now luck. Anyone else have any ideas?

Nope and it's not your phone. It's T-Mobile. I asked here, no response (huge surprise, I know). I've asked on TMobile's "official" forums, no answer. I've asked on multiple cell phone boards, no answer. I do not want to call Customer Service AGAIN because they will blame my phone despite the fact I have 3 of them right here, right now all doing the same thing and all with various builds. Just for reference, he's one of my previous posts:
Started happening a few weeks ago. Applications that rely on the My Location service within Android fail because Android isn't receiving a location. Examples of this are the Google homepage and the multitudes of weather apps when set to Current Location. I'm inclined to believe it's a tower problem for a few reasons.
* I have multiple G1's (2 G1's,and a Dev phone) having the same issue while in close proximity to each other even after fresh Factory Resets on all of them. (and with various builds including OTA builds)
* The problem disappears when switching to 2G (confirmed with a Market app called "Cellfinder"). Cellfinder will find the tower ID as shown below but no location reported from the tower. If I bump it down to 2G the LAC and CID stay the same but are now reporting the tower location.
* The DDMS log tool within the Android 1.5 SDK shows that Android is at least trying to get a location lock but failing with various LocationManager errors saying no location was found.
* The phone's are getting service and with BetterCut & Cellfinder I can see the associated tower's LAC and CID which leads me to believe that the 3G portion of the towers are simply not reporting location back to the phone.
Customer service wants to RMA the G1 I have on record. The phone(s) is(are) not broken so I declined. I'm at a loss on who to talk to next. BTW, despite my unresolved issue your guys' techs are fantastic. I love the up beat attitudes and great service.

Ah thanks for the info. I was beginning to think it wasn't something about the phone. I guess I'll give them a call, just to show that this issue does exist. Its a shame I cant use it though.

It is a shame. Every single background service that requests My Location is now hosed.
I am in the same boat with you guys. I can get a GPS lock, but no radio lock. And since I too rely heavily on this feature it's a major problem. What I'm concerned about is that, if I understand correctly, it is not working with a non-root phone as well now? I rooted two days ago, and before that it was fine. It's about to become a deal breaker for me. May have to un-root if it will work like that. =(
BTW JF1.51CBR43 ROM
Ok, may have spoke too soon. So here's what worked for me. If you use something like toggle settings or make a custom toggle this is not TOO inconvenient. I put my settings to 2G only, and wahla!!!!! I have My Location back and all my other location based software works.
Hope this helps! Now, if I can just get the damned Bluetooth to work, I won't have to unroot. Yep, may be another deal breaker for me.

1) I already posted that this problem does not exist with 2G in this very thread.
2) Just this morning I started to get location data with 3G however it's not nearly as accurate as 2G. While this works fine for city level information such as weather it's rather crude.

3g problems?? Been searching, no luck.

Hey guys, I'm on my second fascinate...returned the first one because I couldn't stay connected to 3g for any length of time. For example, trying to stream pandora or youtube would always drop out / buffer and not reconnect. After getting my second phone I am still having this problem. When I finally do get connected it's terribly slow and soon drops out. Thought it may have just been reception first but my original droid worked prefect in the same areas (i live maybe 50ft from the verizon tower lol) and have the same problems in other cities too.
I've learnt to live with the audio playback pops and gps in hopes that they get fixed in an ota, but haven't really heard much about a fix for this. Really hope someone can help, love the phone aside from this problem, but it kind of makes paying $30 extra for a smart phone feel well, dumb
Oh, Im stock too besides the d01 update and have tried both *228 and *22899 also
*22899?

Give Verizon a call, there are some internal settings on the phone that they can adjust that might help. They did that for me it involved going into the dialer and putting in some number i forgot what it was, but i then had to enable something, and we went through the screens. They had me change one setting that gave me a more consistent signal.
It was something with 9s in it haha. And I called verizon, ended up changing some of my cdma settings through the dialer... Really wish I had wrote down all the steps because it took me deep into menus that aren't changeable without the codes.... Either way, it's somewhat better but I wouldn't say that completely fixed my problem.
3g still drops out much to frequently. when I get service, it seems quicker but youtube or downloading a large file are still impossible....
No one else is having this problem or found a fix? I'm at wits end, feel like spiking my phone onto the pavement at times lol
I just yesterday got a replacement Fascinate, with that issue being one of my reasons for exchanging it. So far, I don't seem to be seeing any such issues, but time will tell. If the issue comes back, I might try falling tech support for those dialer codes mentioned here.

Ok i'm having an ANNOYING issue here...

Up until yesterday ive always drawn 3-4 bars at the least inside of my house. All of a sudden out of nowhere I cant get any bars. Its like theyll pop on and then just disappear really quick. Its made my data painfully slow and I cant figure out what the issue is. I've reflashed the radio and that didnt help. Made sure the network was set to CDMA... that didnt help. Im a little clueless here. And periodically itll pull up two or three bars and then almost instantly the service will die out altogether and an X will pop up where the bars normally are....then the process starts all over. WTF? Is this a network issue or is it my phone? I hadnt made any changes before I started experiencing the problems.
Odd thing is im at work right now and im getting stable bars just fine.
So 66 views and no comments... i guess im the only one to ever have this issue then.
Sprint has been having network issues for a few weeks now in different markets and I'm sure you're being affected by it. Just give it a little bit and if it is still there in a week or two contact customer service. Hell, maybe even try now to see if they're actually having issues in your area so at least you'll know.
I love how people come here and post that they are having signal issues and data issues and they haven't called Sprint to see if there is an outage or issues in their area. The first thing I would do it restart my phone and call Sprint. Not flash a radio, try a different ROM...blah blah blah.
Or... maybe it didnt occur to you that calling to see if there were network issues was the first thing I did. You think id actually go through the trouble of doing all that over again without calling first? I guess I should've said that but c'mon lol...
tgruendler has a valid point. we can't assume anything. we get enough "noobs" here that unless you tell us what you've done, we assume you jumped straight to XDA without doing your due diligence. Perhaps those 66 views all thought the same, "this guy hasn't even contacted sprint. pass!" now that we've ruled sprints network out, now we can do something constructive.
what radio version are you running?
I mean I hear you and all but look at my join date lol... im far from a noob I just dont post much. The really odd thing is I switched back to an older radio and the problem went away. I flashed the newer radio and it came back so im seriously wondering just wtf...
Im using the 1.34 radio and the problem is gone. Im just curious as to why the newer radio frizzed out on me all of a sudden since i've been using that one for like a month. I dunno but it seems like the issue is fixed for now.
i noticed this same exact issue when I installed fresh ROM. I know I installed the new radio back then as well. see my post:

[Q] No Cell Service, NDT V1.0 Stable

As the title says, I have loaded NDT Stable V1.0 but no longer have cell service.
On USA Tmobile.
WiFi, Bluetooth, GPS and all the rest seem to work great, maybe even faster in some cases than WinMo 6.5. I've been looking for settings related to the cell service, but so far I assume I am looking in the wrong place.
Any suggestions for trouble shooting. If it helps, friends have tried to call and so far everyone gets one or 2 rings then straight to voice mail, i get no indication of any attempts of incoming calls.
Thank you for your time.

a long shot, but i have seen at least one thread with the same problem where the sim card was inserted wrong....
I had hopped it was that simple, popped the back off and had a second and third look just to be sure, all looks to be in order.
I have read that not that its Android, I have to have an Android phone plan. If that's the case I have no problem swapping over, I would just like to think I should be able to get SOME proof of life before I spend an hour on the phone with TMO, trying to explain its still one of their phones, i just did a little custom work on it.
Keep the suggestions coming please.
Thanks again!

ive not read of anything like that, tho im in teh uk, so only got what i read here to go on,. . try a different rom, might just be that rom.
Yup thats the next plan, might even just load a few ZIP's on the SD card and wipe, flash, test till i get lucky.
I ran into the needing an Android plan a while ago, when the MyTouch came to TMO. I got the MyTouch second hand and it was light years ahead of my antique of a blackberry. Anyway, the MyTouch would see the TMO network and let me call TMO for service, but that was it till I actually got an Android plan.
I havent seen that being much of a problem for the HD2, based strictly on what info I have been able to find and read, but it still lingers in the back of my head as possible.
Thank you again.
