My G2 has been slow all day despite several reboots. I checked system panel and the CPU is running at full speed all the time (802 MHZ). I cannot find any running programs that are stressing the CPU with System Panel. Is there any other way to figure out what is causing my G2 to run at full speed continuously?
If System Panel isn't telling you (weird though) then I recommend uninstalling all the recent apps you have installed in the past couple days. Check your CPU usage and if its fixed then start to reinstall the apps 1 by 1 while you check the usage after each install. This way you will find the culprit
Use Watchdog Lite to see what is hogging up your CPU.
Uninstalling a bunch of recently installed programs did the trick. Thanks. Now, it is time to find the culprit and put him in the corner
I will also try Watchdog for future use, thanks for the suggestion.

ok so this will happen quite often to me after messing with customizations or just using different apps. I exit apps that stay running correctly (at least ones I know I need to). my ram will fill up, or almost up and then the phone will freeze for a few seconds. when it comes back up I open system panel and close all inactive apps and anything else I feel needs to be closed. this will leave me with 50% or less free.
usually i'm not concerned, but twice now my phone has rebooted due to this. this happened once back in june and now just today. I had navigation up and when I knew where I was going I woke up the phone to exit it, but the phone was frozen. so I put it down and it actually keeps giving me directions. then I heard the start up tone, I didn't bother to look just put the phone in my pocket. a few minutes later it reboots again. again I didn't bother cause I did not need it. when I did need it I found it with no cell or 3g reception and no icons loaded up. reboot the phone manually and all is fine.
I am rooted with the latest fresh rom. but I have only been rooted for 6 days and I have been getting this memory issue the whole time I have owned the phone(release day purchase). including one reboot before rooting.
I keep reading that we should not have to worry about memory and that android takes care of it by closing apps when new apps need the memory. is this really true?
usually I keep it free by using system panel but I forget sometimes. I haven't used task killers as I read mix reviews and I like some things manual anyways.
so, is this normal? am I doing something wrong, or is there a setting I need? do I just need to go get a task killer?
what are the best task killers? and is there any programs I should not kill? or whats the optimal way to set these up?
thanx for any help you can give me
Try using Advanced Task Killer (there's a free version in the Market) and change its security settings to low, then start killing processes you don't need.
While Android is supposed to have good RAM management... Well, as you can see, it's not that great. Generally, if I get under 100MB of RAM available, I tend to go on a killing spree... Of processes.

I am in need of help in dealing with games that keep eating battery life after the game is closed. I have downloaded different kinds of app killers and i do not see them on the list but under battery options i see every game i have played since i had the tablet on. Is there a better option or am i doomed to turning my nook on/off after every game i play?
I am new to all of this and may be off base here. But in all of my mind melting reading here I picked up Nook Tweaks off the market for free and from what I have read maybe some of those settings might help you.
Check this out http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1104039 Maybe this will help. I am still experimenting and learning.

That's a good program for overclocking and boosting audio, sadly not what i need atm
I was having the same problem. I downloaded an app called 1 click cleaner. after its up and running I simply go into the app and click the cache clear button. after that it will pull up any aps or games that I ran. I can click them one at a time and force stop the app first then if i want I can also clean any cache associated with that app. It stops any apps continuing to run and draining my battery?
Some apps shut down properly if you use the back arrow to quit rather than just pressing the home button. Look for a quit button in those games.
I've had Opera stay running in the background if I didn't back out.

I tried this app today and it clears cache but does not bring up anything else even though on the battery use list there are games still running even when i hit the back button to close games. I have had nothing but battery issues ever since i rooted this NC ; / What is even more frustrating is i read on these forums how people are getting 2 days use out of the battery even with moderate use and if i do anything i lose 20-30% of my battery. There must be a way to get this set up right but i feel like only those in the know want to keep their secrets.
From what I've found, the battery usage screen on cm7 is not only applications that are running but also lists apps that have been running but are now closed. If the app doesn't show up in a task killer (I use ES Task Manager) it's not running. Certain games are high demand on the system and will drain the battery more quickly than reading apps (like aldiko) The last tip I have is to turn the screen brightness down. The screen is the biggest battery killer. Also, turn off wifi when you're not using it.
These are what I do and end up getting 2 days of moderate (low gaming high reading) use.

That sounds awfully high. What Rom and version # are you using? Also, what CPU governor and/or overclock settings? It sounds like something is wrong.
That said, I have had "rogue" apps that keeping restarting and usually just end up removing them because they weren't worth the trouble. Personally, I also use GoLauncher and in the applications menu it has a nifty screen to conveniently show the currently-running apps with a button to close them.
I am running cm7.1 and my governor is on conservative. I do not have it overclocked, its at stock 300/800.
Anyone able to help?
I started noticing the slow browser problems when I loaded leaked ics. I finally downloaded a program called Watchdog Lite. It keeps track of cpu usage and will beep if a program uses to much for to long. What I began to notice is that some programs just don't go to sleep when you exit them, and the browsers are culprits. Pulse is another program that can keep cpu busy long after I stopped using it. One program that is really bad at times is our own XDA android program. The other night an hour after I stopped using the program it was still using around 50 percent of cpu time. Go figure, there is nothing going on with this program that should take that much cpu at any time. Maybe search or something. I discovered this because watchdog kept beeping.
This is not just on the acer. I have the same problem with my asus prime. Maybe that's why asus provides a task manager with shut down widget. Watchdog will also let you shut down programs.
I don't know if this happens in HC because I did not start checking this until ICS came along.
I'm fairly aggressive at killing programs, particularly those I know that give me problems. If tablet seems to be slow check to see if something is grabbing the cpu that you are not aware of. Kill it if it's not being used. I wish all programs gave you an exit button. I use it when I can.
After I started killing browser instances, or other cpu hungry apps my browsing is much smoother and quicker.

I have a i9505 and I updated to android 4.4 and I have an issue with high CPU usage, I may have had the issue on 4.2 too but I am not sure.
Occasionally I notice high CPU usage and my battery life is quickly starts falling. I see two android.process.acore using a lot of CPU and I cannot kill them. When I look at them they are both com.android.process.userdictionary and seem to refuse any attempt to end the process. The only apps I had used since booting the phone was whatsapp , gosms and email app (only to view and not reply to any emails)
I have not loaded any new applications and I cannot see what has called the userdictionary process and why it keeps coming up and using high CPU.
A reboot of the device solves the issue, but it will recur again at some point.
Help?
OK so this is getting worse now.I have had t reboot the device several times today to get rid of these acore issues.
pls can someone help?

I'm having this problem with my NoteII LTE (GT-N7105)
Trying to find a solution - but no luck thus far.
Did you solve the issue? krtccd is always on top with up to 40% CPU usage on my Samsung Galaxy S4

I have the same problem and I don't know the exact reason why this happens, but it is due to a mess in the swap activity of the phone. If you have a rooted phone with a kernel that let you enable or disable zram (like googy max) so try to disable it.
I think that some memory leak or some app put the memory in a bad state screwing up the swap process.
The problem should be temporary stopped if, during the high cpu activity of the krtccd process, you make a "close all" from the multi tasking manager of your phone (accessible holding the home button).
I know it is a late reply, but this could be useful if someone search the forum for a solution.
mannybiker, many thanks for your reply!

could you recommend some app that detects processes with a high swapping activity?

No vak, unfortunately I have not found any app that could show me the zram used per single processes. I kept the same rom with the same config for 9 months and never experienced any problem with krtccd, then suddenly it started to happen so I think this could be related to some update the phone has made to some of my apps. The only thing I could imagine to do is a debugging period making a titanium backup of all the apps, uninstall them all, verify that the problem is solved and start restoring them periodically one after the other seeing what happen, but for the moment I have just completely removed the zram from my kernel option. It is still a controversial feature that increase available memory but also cpu and then battery consumption.
I am not a Linux expert and I have not tested this on Android, but on Linux you can try to discover the swap usage per process with something like that:
Code:
for file in /proc/*/status ; do awk '/VmSwap|Name/{printf $2 " " $3}END{ print ""}' $file; done | sort -k 2 -n -r | less
Hi, so I've had my G2 D800 model for a while (about a year or two), and for the most part, it's been an excellent phone despite being 3 years old now. Never had any slowdown problems, and it's always performed well in games and in general.
But just recently, about a week ago, it just started lagging out and being very, very slow.
For example, if I'm watching a YT video through the app, if I rotate the screen, it takes maybe 5-8 seconds to actually rotate. Also, in a lot of circumstances where the keyboard has to pop up, it just freezes the app until the keyboard pops up maybe 10 seconds later.
It's also just laggier in general in most apps, scrolling through FB or Twitter freezes nearly every second when I'm scrolling. It's generally unresponsive and sometimes just freezes outright. It also acts this way on the homescreen, and in most everything else.
The most annoying part, however, is that sometimes the devices just doesn't turn on for sometimes up to 15 seconds after pushing the power button (and it usually just refuses to turn on when using my knock code).
The odd part, however, is that once it's actually in something like a game, it performs perfectly fine.
I've played a number of Cardboard games, as well as games like Nova 3, and it performs perfectly.
I've also ran multiple benchmarks (Geekbench, 3DMark, etc), and it scores around where it should.
Info about the device:
LG G2 D800
Stock Lollipop 5.0.2
Software Ver. D80030f
Kernel Ver. 3.4.0
Rooted
TWRP Recovery installed
XPosed Lollipop installed
G3 Tweaks installed, a number of tweaks applied
Everything else is stock (homescreen, etc)
What I've tried/checked:
Checked memory usage during "lag sessions", rarely dips below 300mb free
Changing minfree values through Rom Toolbox (tried every preset, as well as setting everything to the max to free as much as possible)
Rebooting (affects nothing)
Checked CPU speed with Rom Toolbox (is at max, and does achieve the max speed of 2265 MHz. Setting it to performance mode/setting the min speed to be 2265 MHz has no effect, but reduces battery time)
Changed default cache sizr (tried every preset from 128kb to 4096kb. With multiple benchmarks, the optimal value for r/w bounced between 512kb and 4096kb, currently on 4096)
Things I have not tried (that I am aware would possibly have an affect):
Changing anything in the kernel tweaks/build.prop
Completely wiping, reformatting, and reinstalling (I really would rather avoid this if possible, as it would take a while to get everything back to what it is now, and it was a pain to upgrade to Lollipop in the first place)
I am unaware of anything else I could try to fix it, which is why I'm here
So, does anyone know of any other solutions or things to try? This has made my phone very unreliable, even for phone calls and messages, which is a problem.
Thank you for your time and help!

Hi,
First thing i need you to try out is this custom kernel : http://forum.xda-developers.com/lg-g2/development/lp-5-0-2-kernel-3-4-107-dorimanx-1-0-lg-t3102512
Then install greenify, and hibernate all the unnecessary apps.
This should solve the issue.

Thanks for the quick reply!
I'll try out greenify, though there aren't many unnecessary apps running (i uninstalled all the bloatware first thing, when I rooted).
And about the custom kernel, it's something I've never tried, so I have a couple questions.
Will it wipe my device, or break TWRP, root, or Xposed? (Sorry, didn't see the answer on that forum)
Will a TWRP backup I make be able to fully restore my device to it's current condition?
Is everything that is supported on my device be supported with that kernel? (Apps, etc. Don't know a whole lot about how kernels work, so I don't know)
Thank you!

Hi,
Even you uninstalled bloatware, the apps you use daily could be running in background and taking all those rams. So whenever you play a game or dont use a certain app, just go to greenify and hibernate. Since you have xposed installed, you can do more than that such as u can stop sync , etc.
About the kernel, it has a ram management settings and cron task.
Ram management dont need to be altered. It has some preset profile so if you seek performance, just choose performance or if u need battery , select battery profile etc.
Cron task is useful because it will do alot of things automatically. For example, it will release ram at certain amount of time from the apps , it will restart google play service since that could be an issue , etc.
All you need to do is take a nandroid backup just to be safe. Then download Dorimanx Ota from playstore and it will detect ur device and show u which version of kernel is available. Then download that, go to recovery, flash it, and you will see three app installed : Synapse -- will give you all the details of ur setup including cpu speed, temp etc for monitoring purposes
Dorimanx settings - this is the main settings of the kernel. You will see a P icon on top, tap it and choose your desired profile.
Color management : It is as the title says, just leave it be.
Then use your device, check your ram and report back. Hopefully it will resolve your issue.
Wow. Dorimanx did a lot more than I was expecting.
Downloaded the app, downloaded the kernel, flashed it no problem, went through and checked out synapse.
Went into the Dorimanx settings, and set it to the "Performance" profile.
Immediate improvement.
The whole phone seems a lot more snappy, and I switched back and forth between a 1080p60 YT video, facebook, and twitter with absolutely no problem.
Free memory when idle (no apps open) stays around 1gb; it used to be about 500mb before.
Tested a few games for the heck of it, and it actually seems to have improved game performance somehow. (It seems to have overclocked my CPU to 2.5ghz, though, so that makes sense.)
Temps stayed at around 58-60c while running a few Cardboard apps, so it seems fine.
Thanks for the help iubjaved! This has fixed my issue and then some! Ah, the wonders of the Android dev community.
