Updating stock Swype with the newest. - Fascinate General

I noticed that the stock Swype that came with Fascinate is version 1.6XXX, but I noticed that the newest version is 2.4XXX. Does anyone have the newest version that's for Fascinate? I tried WVGA or HVGA version, neither worked.

I'm pretty sure that it'll get upgraded with froyo.

are 2.1 roms based off of the htc 2.1 build?

I have been searching for the newest version of android along with a working bluetooth connection to my panasonic phone for months now. 1.5 works very well with my home phone, but the "htc" 2.1 leaked version ( the version that supposedly was exactly the same as the official release but with root access) didnt connect at all.
Then the unofficial froyo build came out. That ROM fixed the bluetooth connection that was broke in 2.1, but the problem with this build is, if i leave my bluetooth connection on and walk in the door, it doesnt reconnect manually to my phone. Because of this, i have to keep manually selecting the handsfree device i want it to connect too if it ever disconnects.
So now I am thinking of trying the "official" 2.1 build released by htc. I'm not sure if my results will be any better than the other roms such as fresh or damanged that are 'based' off of 2.1. I'd like to get off of this 1.5 version of android and to something newer. My concern with trying the official 2.1 rom is that I will loose my root access, correct? I can then re-root my phone afterwards?

There r two roms that r using the newest .6 version of the HTC release of 2.1. They r fresh and one other. But its out there. My rom will be using it as well but will be a day or two. All the others out in the forum are all the .5 version of the HTC version of 2.1. There r only one or two roms that r out there now that r using the leaked version anymore
so would you expect the same results within the bluetooth stack for these roms instead of me installing the official 2.1 rom from htc? or is this something developers tend to change to "enhance" the roms?

Comments around the Sprint Community forum seem to mostly say that Bluetooth is terrible in the official Sprint/HTC 2.1 release, so I don't think running the official RUU will fix your Bluetooth troubles. Here are just a couple threads from there:
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/32489
http://community.sprint.com/baw/thread/32193
Also, yes you will lose root access if you run the official RUU from the Sprint or HTC web sites. You could re-root using this method, but I think the better option would be to just flash the nfinitefx45 Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed ROM, because it is the official straight stock release that maintains root access. DamageControl's latest ROM and Fresh's latest ROM are also based from the official stock release, but they have many more changes and modifications to them so they aren't "true stock" anymore.

Nice work. I would have put up the links myself but in on my phone and its not as easy on here lol
thanks for all the help. i just tried the Sprint 2.27.651.6 STOCK Deoxed w/A2SD Update 3 rom and the device paired but did not connect. I assume I should get the same results with any rom based on this correct? So frustrating that HTC screwed this up. I hate being stuck at 1.5.

[Q] Is it worth upgrading from JF3 to JPY

Hi there,
I've a galaxy s running 2.2.1 I think, kies reports the current firmware version is JF3, but the latest is JPY.
I only got it to this state last week, and am not sure I can be bothered upgrading and having to set up bookmarks etc again.
Can anyone tell me the benefits of JPY compared to JF3?
Thanks

you can check the android version in "about this phone", not only the firmware code name.
Any Android 2.2.1 *stable* (not leaks) for the Galaxy S is fine in my opinion. Changes are usually minimal from version to version.
But i'm not sure if JF3 is 2.2.1.
Jf3 is 2.1, a really slow version.
Upgrading to jpy is deffinetly worth it.
You get tons of new things like flash player.
And its much, much faster.

This version cannot be updated

Everytime I try to update my GT I receive a msg saying "This version cannot be updated". I tried updating kies, still the same, restored the tab to default and removed root, still the same, used the *272* to change locale, also still the same. Any idea what the solution might be?
My baseband version is: P1000JXJK2

You didn't actually state which version you are currently running!

Anyone? Anything?
It is quite possible that JK2 is the latest official version for your region. I believe that the latest official version on UK Tabs is a JJ version which would be older than yours.

Dave
yes, i got a JID since november and still the same on kies, "this version cannot be updated"
... no updates, while there should be evident bug fixes for that "bending gsensor"
thank samsung for that

According to samfirmware: http://www.samfirmware.com/WEBPROTECT-p1000.htm
there are newer builds for my region (arabic).
In the old Kies it said that there's an update but your version can't be upgraded :0(
Just because a firmware is listed on samfirmware, doesn't mean that Samsung have pushed them out via Kies.
Looking at the list of Arabic ROMs on samfireware, I can see that there are several JMx builds - as far as I am aware, none of the JMx builds have ever been pushed out by Kies and are considered development test builds.
That leaves JVJL1 as the only later build, but this thread would indicate that isn't actually an Arabic ROM at all and thus wouldn't have been pushed out to Arabic Tabs.

Dave

Trying to roll Inc up to 2.3

Trying to update Incredible from 2.2 to 2.3. Build 3.26.605.1, baseband 2.15.00.07.28
I started to run the OTA update from this thread http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=770091 but the baseband version is different. So where do I go from here?
Quick search found this.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1263269
Also your version numbers are off, 2.3 is 4.06.605.3 baseband 2.15.10.7.7
No, my version numbers aren't off. I currently have 2.2, those version numbers refer to my current build. I'm trying to GET 2.3

The base band is the radio version. The reason it's different is because it comes with the OTA to update it to .07.07.
EDIT: According to the post, "First off, ensure that you have the Stock 2.1 ROM with first OTA, it WILL NOT work otherwise.
software/Build version will read as the following: 1.22.605.2..."
Looks like you need to be at 2.1 to run that update.
Got it working. Rooted Froyo, then loaded the Liberation ROM. Extremely happy with it!!
Thank you for your input guys!
