I really like the protection that invisible shield provides but I hate the feeling of it, kind of like the skin of an apple. On the other hand, I like the feel of the anti-glare protection but I don't like that it is prone to scratches and scuffs. What screen protectors are there that you think are great?
I've had my EVO since launch without a screen protector and I don't have any scratches. All natural is the best.
Since you're asking for opinions, I'll give mine. I've had Ghost Armour on mine for the last couple of months and really like it. If my hands are moist (sweat, water, whatever), there is increased resistance, which feels weird. I suspect, however, that would be the case with most protectors out there. And who makes a habit of handling their phone with wet hands anyway? I will also note that it took at least two weeks for it to completely dry and not look kinda foggy in places. Now however, it looks great.
The one that comes with otterbox product works great. No bubbles on installation and feels smooooth, unlike invisibleshild.
Get a seideo for the front.. It's rated for the most Glassy feel out of all of them
i got one that bestbuy sells been great no troubles
+1 for ghost armor
I got the shield by zagg. My fiancée got one for her captivate and had some fart knocker at best buy put it on and its feels really rubbery and looks hazy. i got one and put it on myself it took me awhile cause of course i had to have it perfect and after it dried it feels great. you can barely notice it.
None, have had mine since launch and don't have a single scratch. And I don't exactly baby the phone either.

All natural is best, I just go to the beach way too much...that sand will wreak havoc on that glass
Steinheil AF. I like the feel of it and it really does reduce glare. My evo spends a good bit of time in a car mount where any reduction in glare is helpful.
Martin fields screen protector. Works pretty well for me. If its dirty you can wash it under the tap (seriously) and it will stick back again. Quite thick but has got a nice feel. Installation is do easy that monkey could do it. If you fail un peal it and stick it back again and again and again. (washed mine about 10 times and it still sticks like brand new). They don't use glue on it...

This one seems great but I'm alsao wondering about how it lowers the display quality because my friend has an anti-glare protector and it is noticeable that the quality is not as good as the invisible shield.
Also, the feel of the ghost armor looks similar to the invisible shield

Anti-glare will do that.

I went straight from the Sprint store to the ghost armor kiosk. It's barely visible, def recommend it.

I've tried all of them; I recommend that you get Clarivue.
Best:
Martin Fields (Best by far, no comparison, way too expensive at $27 shipped per screen protector)
Good:
Steinheil
Clarivue (Best value)
Garbage: Don't bother with these
Invisibleshield
Ghostarmor
DCMUGEN

I do prefer anti-glare, anti-fingerprints & less sweat resistance so that sounds like what I'm looking for, it still looks good on the EVO (any application issues, how long has it been on)?
Did you get it from:
http://cretouch.com/steinheil-anti-fingerprint-protection-film-p-732.html (2 for $12)
Sprint sells Custom Screen Protectors shields (Pack includes 2 regular and 1 anti-glare screen protectors) curious if anyone tried that anti-glare?
I just went from a zagg (very rubbery until a lot of use) to the one that came with my otterbox commuter. The one included is immensely more glassy with the downside of less anti glare. Either way much easier to apply then the zagg.

when I had my cliq I was a huge fan of Boxwave Anti-glare screen protector.it took a little bit away from screen clarity but made up for it with superior gliding ability and easy application, not too mention almost eternal life-span...however, now that I have a screen worth showing off, what would be the best screen protector that preserves clarity, but also has a good feel?
The realook screen protectors are great. Just make sure you read and follow the instructions.

Realook ones are by far the best.

I like these guys - http://www.ghost-armor.com/ they have a kiosk in the malls near me and they do a much better job of applying SP's than I can.
If I were going to do my own I'd buy something from Zagg and put it on...
Zagg = Sticky! Not good.
My wife has been using Zagg stuff for a few years, and I always hated the 'sticky' element. Smoothing dragging is impossible with their product.
A few months ago there was a convo on here, and the guy from Phantom Skinz popped in. I grabbed their Carbon-Fiber skin (came with 2 screen protectors), and I have been _Extremely_ happy. People often comment on the skin (and I have a custom metamorph for nearly the entire phone - which throws people off as well), and the screen protector isn't sticky at all, and has held up very well under my abuse.
Couldn't recommend them enough.
Like everyone else Realook is the best out there, I promise it is like is not even there, sometimes I even forget I have it on.
I have 3 Vibrants with Realook and they are virtually invisible.
I tried them all... errr, ok I only tried the store bought tmo brand on my Vibrant, but nothing compares to the "Realook" brand. Ive had BSE and ZAGG on previous phones but the realook is the ONLY one that has ever looked 100% invisible like the screen is naked. This in itself makes it worth every penny considering how important it is to NOT cover our amazing AMOLED screen. And not to mention that the darn thing practically installs itself. Ive never seen such a ridiculously easy SP application. I remember thinking to myself, "crap I could have thrown the SP at the phone and it would have installed just fine" LOL, I'm not kidding, I really did think this...
Realook hands down.... period!
Another vote for Realook and big vote against Zagg. There are people who swear by them and say everyone else is installing them wrong, but mine was terrible. Luckily they do have a 100% refund policy
Steinheil's are also pretty good.
With either Realook or Steinheil, get the crystal clear kind. Can't tell it's there at all.
Another vote for Realook. I've tried a ton of screen protectors, and these are by far the best. I cannot even tell there is a screen protector on.
And the price is good. I think I paid $10.99 with free shipping for 2 of them. They sell them themselves on eBay and Amazon.
I was a skeptic but tried the RL due to the popularity on here. It is very good. I would recommend splitting the costs with another XDA user. Also, while it is a good SP, I still do not believe one is needed, and it WILL add a lot of finger smudges.
I've tried many screen protectors, believe it or not, I like the generic universal screen protectors from tmo that you cut to size yourself.
has worked great!
I vote for Martin Fields, barely visible. Only problem is you see fingerprints when the screen is off. (no biggy)
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
I vote for REALook, not visible what so ever. Finger prints though are worse than ive seen on any other screen protector, at least I think so. But it cleans well and like I said its like the no screen protector real look, hence the name.
The best I have seen are the "Cellet" brand from Frys (saves shipping too).
I've used the real look ones, the cellet are a bit clearer.
Yes I know....you just have to see for yourself.
I don't have a screen protector on, I like just having gorilla glass. Unless you carry around an open blade in your pocket I see no need. I've TRIED to key my screen and that didn't even scratch it
I agree with the previous poster, unless you travel with a pocket full of diamonds the Gorilla glass will obviate the need for a screen protector.
I disagree with both previous posters. Ive seen plenty of gorilla glass scratches to date, one in fact got terribly scratched from top to bottom and the upset owner never identified what the culprit was, all he found in his pocket next to his phone was small amounts of lint. I dont care how hard this glass is, its going to stay pristine and Im not going to take the chance with even the smallest scratch. I may be extra extra careful with this phone, but if I decide to go naked that will be the same day that this phone decides to fly out of my hand and onto the concrete below face first... No freggin way thank you very much. lol
I have a Droid X with gorilla glass and thought I was being careful.
I did get a couple of very small scratches in the glass, so I wound up using a protector.
The reallook ones are very good.

The gorrilla glass it came with. I used to do the screen + body skins but as long as you keep one pocket just for the phone, it'd be pretty hard to scratch it. Been discussed multiple times...

Realook, available on Amazon. Takes scratches like a champ, is invisible, easy to clean and allows all touches to be equally sensitive as before install.

I ordered 2.. They are free with you just paying shipping and rival Zagg, and I think they are better. Try it out. You cannot lose with 2 for $5\
EDIT: Plus they are full body protectors.
have had the Zagg InvisibleShield from day one...
no warped colors and still keeps the same brightness as without....
+1 on the realook.
Its hard plastic not soft like the Zagg and most other screen protectors.

There's actually a thread about this already in the Accessories sub-forum.
But anyway, Ghost Armor is what I use, and compared to the Invisible Shield that's on my brother's Epic, mine is more slick (less plastic-like and less gooey) and overall a great looking screen protector. Plus the fingerprints are way easy to wipe off, which is what annoyed me with the plain Gorilla Glass, which by itself is already very scratch-resistant but prone to fingerprints.
i know theres already a thread... but
I like the realook 11 bucks for 2 of them... run a hot shower in bathroon, then go in there and clean screen then apply. Bearlt know its there and has a natural feel/look , ive had the same one on for over 6 months now and its still hanging in there.... getting a bit scratched now but not bad enough for me to pull it. I tried a zagg one and hated it. Gorilla glass does hold up great but sand will still scratch it... i have a micro scratch from a grain of sand that was in my pocket from river fishing in the summer...... that was my turning point to go and get a protector.
just my 2cents

I use an anti glare type for several reasons, 1) Keep it from being scratched, 2) To reduce sun glare, yes it does reduce the screen brightness the trade-off its worth it imho. 3) Finger prints smudges are annoying as hell and I cant keep cleaning the screen. 4) Finger glide yes fingers tends to stick to the glass but with an anti-glare protector they just glide. My 2 cents
Thanks, Blackwidowman!
Fingerprints are such a pain, with the screen protector; fingerprints don't stick?
I always use a screen protector my smartphones and tablets. I just get a clear one, and I don't notice it once it's on. To me, they are too much money to risk scratches.
Personal preference really, for some the added protection is well a worth the change in look and feel. For others like myself there's just no way we'll sacrifice the clarity of the display for any amount of protection.
Since my First android phone (HTC Desire) i dont use one and have No scratches.

Never used one on any phone or tablet. I just look after my devices. I mean what would you be doing to scratch it? Using a shard of metal instead of a finger. Phones I can understand, putting it in the same pocket as keys or coins or somthing. I just never put anything in my pocket with my phone. But a tablet, not exactly pocket size. If I take it out with me, it is in a bag (on it's own) or in my hand. I have had it a few months and not a single mark on it. As for fingerprints, much easier to wipe of glass than plastic. Some decent screen wipes make easy work of them. Or a few breaths on the screen and a glasses cloth.
Basically, take care of your tablet and you won't need any kind of protection
I dont think I'll ever need it for my tablet. No scratches without a case or protector. About fingerprints, I never see those.

Well this may not be a issue on the screen protector on the tab. The one i had for my charge did nothing but hold in all the oils from my hands causing the screen to have a constant foggy film over it. Just something to keep in mind.

LOL! Me too. I a stressed out just thinking about mine arriving. Ugh, I may ask a friend who is good at this to do it for me.
I've had my Galaxy Vibrant for a year and half and my Galaxy 10.1 tab since July and I've never used a protective screen. They both get heavy use and I carry them with me all over the place and nary a scratch. There is a reason why they use gorilla glass.
I personally hate screen protectors. I haven't used one in I believe 6 years.
Given that it's kept in the Samsung Book Case, the only time I anticipate my Tab will ever come near anything that'll scratch it, is if it hits the floor, at which point it'll basically be a written off screen - and fingerprints? Well I have glasses anyway, so a spray or 2 of glass cleaner and a microfibre cloth once a week or so and everythings perfect.
I've also generally got quite dry hands, so with a screen protector on I can't 'swipe' across the screen because the plastic gives much more resistance than the glass of the screen.
Similar thing with my smartphone, nothing shares a pocket with it and so far I haven't had a single scratched screen...in fact the most damage I've done to any phone in the last 3 or so years is that I've lost the H and C from the back....
Some sort of screen protection is a must for me. I just find ways to scratch and break stuff.
I suck at applying the cling type protectors so with my DX and Rezound I have Otterbox Defenders and with the GTabs (I've had two...sold one and missed it) I have Gumdrop cases. Both these companies have a clear membrane for the screen which works well for me.
Although I object to screen protectors because they mess up the beauty of the display, I decided to get one due to the fact that I hate the finger prints i leave on the screen. I went to the mall and installed ghost armor on it and so far I like it, a lot, surprisingly. The display is still as beautiful, no finger prints and it actually feels nice.
it is supper hard to put one one it takes allot of time and paitnce i used my tab for a few months and i was fine without a saver i jest got one for fun but it is like heck to put on and i have a few bubbles in it lol
I love the skin-like feel of Zagg protectors. I now put them on all of my devices. No fingerprints, tactile feedback, and accident protection.
I put their leather skin on the back of my galaxy tab and the orange peel protector on the front. Feels elegant and solid.

Same here, the screen is too valuable on the tab to get scratched imo ...
I've ordered this one for my SGS
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B003VWR2GO/ref=oh_o00_s00_i00_details
The review I've read was saying it was pretty good, barely noticable, wich is a must considering a big plus on samsung's products are the screen.
I'll see if it's worthy, if it is, I'll order this one for the tab:
http://www.amazon.com/gp/product/B0...TJV_2?ie=UTF8&m=A1E9T6XPH2ITJV&n=&s=&v=glance
(anyone has it already?)
I had one on originally, but got the newton rings and sent it back. I never bothered putting one on my new tab. I actually much prefer the feel of it without the screen protector. I have a case that covers the screen when I'm not using it, so I feel the risk of scratching is minimal. The protector just felt sort of rubbery, while the bare glass feels really smooth and slick. Could be the brand of screen protector. But I don't see much of a benefit of putting one on at this point.
But I do have 4 kids, so maybe you don't want take my advice on using supplemental protection...
Yep, don't feel right unless i do. I use a zagg from best buy, since they have never died on me.
Nope, I just use the official Samsung "book cover" case. Why would I want to cover such a sexy, smooth glass screen with a piece of plastic?
I did, and took it off weeks after. No matter what protector you use, it will diminish the quality of the screen. I tried the Zagg and BodyGuardz and when I took them off again, I realized that the screen is too sexy to be hindered. It's Gorilla Glass people; it doesn't scratch that easily. I have my tablet with a TPU case and I have no scratches so far. Just be careful where you put it and you're good to go.
I'm a huge fan of Matte finish anti-glare screen protectors. My tab is sporting one, so is my Galaxy S2...other protectors just get covered in fingerprints as well as not having one on... you should try it. Some people like them some don't... IMO best type of screen protectors.

I've had mine since they first day that Samsung sold the Tab and have never used a screen protector. Not a single scratch or mark on the screen.
Tablets are different than phones. Generally people chose a case that closes over the screen. It's not like you're going to put it in your pocket and get the screen scratched by your keys.
If your case doesn't close to cover the screen or you don't use a case all the time then it might be recommended to use a screen protector. Otherwise the only thing that should come in contact with the screen is your finger or a stylus. Unless, of course, you drop it.
I have had mine since launch with no screen protector and no scratches. It might be a question you have to ask yourself, as far as how much wear and tear will your tab see? It's not like a phone I keep in my pocket and carry everywhere (although I do take my tablet just about everywhere) that can get scratched by keys and the like.
+1 on matte protectors. Also, get a full body protector (sides and back are not scratch resistant!)
I, personally, can't stand the matte ones. It makes the screen look too grainy

I use a bookcase and screen protector. I usually take care of my electronics but somehow I managed to get some small scratches on my screen. I am not sure if they came from using my dagi stylus or from the cloth I use to wipe it with (dry booger perhaps). If you plan on using a stylus I would go for a screen protector. I am currently using one from Belkin but wouldn't really recommend it. I applied as pr instruction but it has an oily look to it. I spoke to their customer service and they said they would send me a new one but haven't received it yet (2 weeks).

Does anyone here uses this and know it to be true or know if any other screen protectors do this?

Nope... I have the Samsung case which protects the tablet well and as others have said it's Gorilla glass, so it doesn't scratch easily. The screen is too nice to cover it up.
I also don't have one on my sgs2 which is always in my pocket (nothing else in the same pocket) and it doesn't have any scratches after about 7 months.
I really question the use of cases and screen protectors for phones... In 2-3 years you are likely gonna change phones anyway... Why rob yourself of the smoother and better looking screen? So that it's still in good shape when you get rid of it? ? ? I'd rather enjoy the phone to it's full potential while I use it with the risk of getting scratches than keeping it in pristine shape for when it ends up in a drawer or in someone else's hands.

Many times 2-3 years is a longer time than I think is actual. More like 1-2.
But on point, because a device without scratches on on the screen can bring twice as much used than one with scratches.

Anyone have a recommendation for an anti-glare screen protector? I've been using Clarivue with my G2x and have been pretty satisfied -- not too much image degradation, about as good diffusion of reflections as I've seen, and a nice smooth-papery feel. They don't have a Nexus 4 model yet, of course, but I figure I'll either wait a couple of weeks for them to get one or use their cut-to-order service unless I hear of something that seems definitively better.
Go for sgp ultra fine, they are the best when it comes to anti glare.. Provides a matte finish...m using it on my SGS2 and my wife's iphone 5.

Thanks. Unfortunately, all they appear to offer for the Nexus 4 at the moment is the "Ultra Clear" variety, not the "Ultra Fine" nor "Ultra Optic" ones that are listed as anti-glare. I'll check back later.
I tried so many times to love AG SPs. Put them on every new phone I get, remove them after a couple of days and I realize how much they were degrading the display. And I have tried them all, from the cheap eBay ones to SGP, BSE, etc.
Hopefully, someone comes out with an AG Tempered Glass SP. That would be awesome.. I hope :silly:

Yeah, I'd be happier without, too, but I spend a fair amount of time with my phone in a car mount, and it's just useless in the daytime if all I can see is reflections off the face of the screen. An antiglare protector doesn't eliminate the reflections, but it does make them much more manageable.
The other thing is that I like the slight bit of texture a matte protector gives to the screen. If my finger is slightly damp from perspiration or whatever, it has a tendency to grab and skip on a bare glass screen, but with a matte protector, it's a much smoother experience, like a nice smooth paper.
As I said, I had good experiences with the Clarivue on my G2x, so I'll probably give them another try.
Bit of topic but anyone aware of any cover with the same paper feel but without the anti glare/degrading image qualities?
