Hi guys
HTC Wildfire today have lanched in UAE and they are selling it for 190$ ( one week only )
without contract
the orginal price is 380$
Is it a good deal ?
Do you advice me to buy it ?
Do it have problems ?
Please answer quickly
thanks
Pretty good deal, you should go for it.
Do it have problems ?
The only - is the low res screen and bad cpu.
But there is great custom ROMS and nice overclock kernels, and soon the CyanogenMod 6.0 will be released for the Wildfire.
Buy it!
If I recall correctly the UAE version has no android market.
Can i install Windows Live Messenger in it ?
I think its possible to get the market installed, correct me if I'm wrong... And if so, yes, you can have msn on it.

Problems: Not really that much, only that not all games can run on the phone, and some can but run very slowly.
Yes, you install all games and apps you want?
I think you'll have to root the phone to manage to get the market on, if there's no market on the phone when you buy it. Its very easy to do, just download UnRevoked, plug in you phone and the program will pretty much do everything else. Then I recommend you installing a custom ROM, like openFire or Wildpuzzle ROM, and soon we will have CynaogenMod for Wildfire, which will make your phone alot faster.
I found 3 or 4 apps in the market that are MSN/ Live messengers. I personally use the Trillian app, than is a universal messenger app. It world on yahoo,MSN,gmail, even Skype networks.

And I personally use eBuddy.
With the new openfire ROM I'd reccomend rooting and installing it, 5MFLOPS is almost twice stock speed.
Yep, just had the openFire 2.0 update, and damn. Its like a new phone, its awesome!
new market update? does anyone have any idea if this can be implemented by end users, or whether it will need to be cooked into ROMs?
see article

I am presuming that it will be delivered to us as an updated version of the android market app. once it is released.

I was able to get it running on my HD2. Looks very nice!
its working with my desire hd rom
Can anyone put up a mirror for the .apk?
[edit] NVM... saw updated link.
works on coredroid's HD rom
Just thought I'd chime in & report that they're apparently pushing the new market out already. I went to download some apps earlier & found the new market on my phone. It seems a lot faster than the old market.

Yes, mine was pushed onto my phone just now. The Market looks much nicer and is more informative than ever before.
I've installed on my hd2 with mdjay's revolution build but i can't get every app anymore like the official paypal app. I'm on vodafone netherlands. If I install marketenabler with the same vodafone settings in other builds just don't matter. (20404)

Mine too.
Think you just have to enable the accounts & sync background data and voila it gets updated unknowingly through data so wifi should not be a problem as well.
is there a way to trick the market to make it think my phone is a better phone? what i mean is, can i make the market think im running say, a droid x, or an incredible, since thats htc, so i can download apps i wouldnt normally be able to? i remember back when i couldnt see angry birds and it was the worst, it would be nice to be able to see every app, and try out the higher end ones that the developers leave us out of.
i seem to remember something with a build.prop file being changed but i can't find anything about it
Android app devs exclude lower end android phones because, they can't run their app at full potential and that would take away from the experience of using that app.
but with a rooted and oc'd phone i would think theres a way to do it, and run them fine

if you google [app name].apk you can find many apps.
It's not always about CPU speed or rooting, many of the limitations of this phone app-wise seem to come from the version of ARM processor it uses.
You can only push the poor eris to do so much.
As the above poster stated though, google the apps you're looking for. You'll find downloads pretty easy (aside from paid ones), but just because you find them doesn't mean the install will be successful or that it'll run properly/at all.
I would like to see if many of the apps would work though, there are some paid apps that I really could use.

Download Eris Market Fix in the Market and run the patch. After rebooting you should be able to search for any app.

that was the first thing i tried, and it has been working for most apps, but theres still a few paid apps i can't see ie:splashtop remote desktop, some of the paid keyboards, etc
any other ideas? i really dont want to pirate an app someone worked hard on
You need to also keep in mind that the X, Incred, Fascinate, ect. have a higher resolution. The Eris wont be able to run apps designed for them downloaded from the market simply because the resolution is different. You would have to upload the apk's to your computer and actually port them to the Eris.
as for the build.prop... you'd want to find the following line: "ro.build.fingerprint="
i've provided two (2) examples below... first being from an HTC Incredible running a 2.2 ROM... second being from a stock Eris (2.1 ROM).
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon_wwe/inc/inc/inc:2.2/FRF91/231334:user/release-keys (Incredible)
ro.build.fingerprint=verizon/htc_desirec/desirec/desirec:2.1/ERD79/185970:user/release-keys (Eris)
Hi guys. I bought the MyTouch 4G last month. Been learning a lot and obviously still learning. Forgive me if this has been brought up, I've tried looking.
The main reason why I want to root my phone is to get rid of some of the stock apps on the phone to preserve phone memory. Is there a ROM that is very similar to the ROM that came with the phone? I really don't have a problem with the stock ROM other than getting rid of those apps.
Can you show me a list of ROM that didn't change much, because I do like the additions that HTC has made on this version of Droid 2.2. Thanks.
Once you root you can stay on the Stock ROM, you don't have to flash another ROM. To fully answer your question though, any of eVil's ROMs (desirehd, desire z) are just HTC ports of other phones. Gorilla's port of the DesireHD is also just another HTC port. Its really personal preference. If you really want to get away from anything HTC/T-Mobile I'd say go with CM6.1.2 or eVil's G2 port.
This really should be posted and moved to the Q&A Section.
Second'ing that this should be moved to the Q&A section.
But to answer your question. Iced Glacier is the stock rom with a lot of tweaks. Think of it as stock on steroids.
But just running stock with root is nice too. I did that for a while.

I've been looking at ROM reviews on YouTube, do any of the Ice Glacier roms have the camera lag issue?
To get exact, I just want to COMPLETELY - with any trace of that program on my phone, get rid of Amazon MP3, Asphalt 5, Yahoo Mail, Monopoly, Rock Band, T Mobile TV, Talk, Stock, and Twonky.
Iced Glacier has Stock and Talk packaged within as system applications. If you wish, you can disable those via the shell, or "freeze" them via Titanium Backup commercial edition. They won't appear anywhere then.
I'm guessing the developers might use those two apps. The rest of the bloatware you listed are gone.

Just use root explorer to remove those apps. Make sure you make a nandroid backup of your completely stock rom and you will always have that to fall back on. It is very easy and will take you 5 minutes.
Heres How
Download the latest version of root explorer.
Open Root explorer and go to System then app.(make sure r/w is on)
Find the app you want to delete and long press it.
Do that with any apps you dont want but be carefull not to delete the wrong things. I suggest not deleteing anything with HTC in the title.
That should get ya taken care of.
To answer your question - I've never had any camera lag issues with Iced.
TrueBlue's steps will get you all set as well.
qandA
Wrong section but you should try Cm or iced glacier or remove ur self
Please post questions in Q&A section. Everyone please remember to click the "Report Post" button on the original post to have immediate action taken by the moderators. Also do not post in the thread itself telling the user that he made a mistake or broke a rule as it doesn't contribute to the thread and is unnecessary.
Well now that its in the right section, I wanted to comment on the same problem. I searched and this was the only thread I could find pertaining to the same issue. Has anyone found a way to fix the camera lag? Its pretty annoying. I have used iced glacier and it doesnt have the same problem but I like my eViL rom better...?
I know for sure Gorilla's Desire HD port does NOT have tha camera lag (front or rear camera), it is my daily driver now with Faux's OC Kernel with Smartass governor.
So I decided I'd give the new official update for the HTC aria a shot despite all the talk about not being able to root it yet. So far some pretty important things I've noticed is the fact that there is no sideloading. I saw someone on here say that it would be able to sideload - incorrect. The second big thing is the fact that it does not have the touchpad button wake. You have to use the power button which is a huge flaw for me. Someone also said that it would be capable of overclocking- as far as I know right now I don't think you can, but I can't be 100% sure yet because of the lack of sideloading and the 4.99 for setcpu. Some of the cool new features I do like is the mobile hotspot capabilities, live wallpapers, and the market update. So now I want to see what others have to say about it. Please come tell me what you've found!

Did it work?
I want to understand ..
The updates are made automatically?
If I purchased from ebay the device in 3 / 3 and it had not arrived yet, am I expected to see within 2.2 and unable to root?

Did you purchase a used phone? Was it already rooted? Did the seller install the latest update from HTC/AT&T?
The 2.2 update from at&t is not an Over-the-air (OTA) update. It's offered by at&t via the HTC web site. The update, therefore, takes work on the user's part. It's not automatic.
That said, if you purchase a phone from eBay that is factory fresh from at&t, it's possible it already has the 2.2 update - I put the odds at 50%.
For what it's worth, the only thing wrong with the stock build of this device's ROM is the at&t bloatware/crapware. Other than that, it's a solid device, and there are ways to customize the phone to your liking.

don't worry about side-loading.
Use the stock HTC sync software that came with your Aria - when prompted to update, don't do it!

If it is what it looks like, (US version/AT&T branded) then you should be able to root no problem with unrevoked
http://unrevoked.com/#aria
I'm not sure about enabling RTL support, but I think people have been talking about it on these forums.
At first my phone felt quick when it was processing, but initial response to screen presses felt slightly laggy. I was concerned. But after running it for a few weeks now, without a task killer, it feels like quite a quick more featured phone. Seems like there was a calibration and optimization duration there. Maybe it's in my head? Very happy with the upgrade, especially for apps to SD!
Oh, and add gingerbread keyboard from the market and the phone is twice as good!

You can do side loading by using android injector. You can find it at at harmonyhollow or softpedia. Just type in Android Injector at google. It also allows you to install multiple apps at the same time.

How do you get Apps to SD to work on this rom?
In the past I was using Darktremor's a2sd preinstalled on the Liberated Aria roms.
I am now on the Liberated version of the rom (thanks to Gene Poole - http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=970272), but I don't know how to do apps2sd here. I have my sdcard partitioned with ext3 (512 Mb), but it's not getting used automatically.
