Could be the next vibrant? (if T-Mobile picks it up)

Give me the specs of that phone with the exact same body design as my phone now and I might shell out the money for something like that. I don't really feel I'm lacking much with my phone as is so that might not even be an option

I agree. I don't really like the look of the phone if that's the final model. I like the design of the vibrant. One of the few things Samsung got right about the phone.
Nice find. Those specs look mighty delicious.

Holy ****, yeah, I would leave my Vibrant for that.
I personally find the squarish design quite sexy.
What's really crazy is that those specs mean it's better tricked out than 90% of netbooks out there.
Ill take the 4.3 inch screen. My sister has an evo and that her only form of braging right because the vibrant w/bionix smashes her's with a custom sense rom.
Plus the 2GHz
That thing is so fake(IMO) it would suck too because the first vibrant just came out. Why would they release it so soon?
That's an amazing device. I would do everything in my power to pick that up if Tmo gets it.

That's just someone's crappy rendering. If you follow the link to the FCC page and view the label location PDF you'll see that it's rounded like the Vibrant.
If that device is real. Its to high end for tmo. Verizon maybe sprint. But lolz at tmo

Ahh yes That would be nice
If true it would be nice. i do miss the HD2 size. For me a slightly larger screen would be nicer as I would like it to be more business friendly. I'd go for a 4.5-7 size screen if they could work out the battery issues, but then that's just me. Nice specs if it is real.......and yes TMO will have it if it does come out.
No Android device is going to have 2ghz in 2011, let along Q1 2011.

Samsung is the business of kicking out hardware for the android market right now and the primary reason software updates are taking a back seat. Samsung doesn't have resources to dedicate. Whatever software and/or hardware problems encountered, the customer will ultimately need to except partial operability. Samsung is on rise of becoming THE android manufacturer. This new device doesnt surprise me.

I really hope this is gonna go to sprint. I've been disappointed with their keyboard-toting phones, the moment left me with a stale taste in my mouth and the Epic 4g, while a great phone, has a horrible physical keyboard..(atleast to me). I find myself using the on screen keyboard 99% of the time.

Yeah, that and think the HTC_IMEmod that I have installed makes the virtual keyboard experience much better, although I would really prefer the DroidX multitouch keyboard, but it doesn't auto-unclick shift or function after you press the key you want :O

How about a GPS that just works? So far Samsung has failed to produce that on its Galaxy S variants. That is not Google's fault, nor the carriers' fault. It is poor Samsung firmware (unless there are also Samsung hardware issues we don't know about). Sammy will have to overcome this negative history before I buy another Android made by them.

my guess is the i9010 is probably a Galaxy S in white or something...lol..or maybe the Super LCD version...
Even if the Galaxy S spec wise is better by a decent margin over the Nexus one..it would not make sense to make it a developer phone unless it is planned for the next gen...The next gen will have dual cores...so it would make sense if it was a dual core..
wasn't gingerbread suppose to allow Cortex A9 support? so it would make sense for testers to test their apps on a Cortex A9 phone....maybe with dual core support. (I'm personally thinking it might be the Orion CPU and maybe Orion shares some stuff with the Tegra 2 aka just like Intricacy did Hummignbird I think Nvidia had a part in the Orion)
As for choosing samsung...it makes sense..out of all the manufacturers..who can get your phone on 125 carriers in 110 countries? including the top 6 carriers in the US?
As for the GPS, I'm pretty sure Google will be working more closely with Samsung to make sure it doesn't happen...even though my GPS on my Epic seems to work fine :/
If it doesn't have a keyboard it isn't worth a dime.

Well, I was going to buy one of the new 4G phones because as it was rumored the Thunderbolt was supposed to be available this weekend.. but it is not to be I suppose SOOO..
I'm looking to buy a Fascinate off contract in order to save my upgrade.
Just wondering if there is anything I should know? I have an Incredible and I know depending on your model number it's either AMOLED or SLCD. Now I know all Fascinates are SAMOLED, but I was just using that as an example of something I would need to know if I was buying an Incredible.. if that makes any sense at all.
Thanks for your time
As far as I know there are no differences in the fascinates out here beyond best buys unique white model.

Yeah, if I hadn't just gotten the Fascinate I would probably prefer to wait for the i520. The new SAMOLED+ looks even more amazing than SAMOLED, and I'm probably one of the few who wishes the Fascinate had a bigger screen.
I have a fascinate and an incredible right now. The fascinate is better hardware wise. The only thing keeping me on the incredible is cyanogen.
The fascinate is STILL stuck on 2.1 and while it performs well it still feels like it's missing something. I also miss the track ball and the camera of the incredible. And the name is much better IMO

Guys no need to get angry. The guy asked for an opinion on the fascinate. And I think he needs one from someone who came from an Iphone on ATT to Samsung Fascinate on Verizon. What can he learn about a phone from ONLY people who are stuck with it........... Nothing. I think a negative review helps alot.
The fascinate has good hardware. But ive always said that android lacks in the applications department. Plain and simple.
Be smart the IPHONE is getting released on February 3rd. Wait try them both out....Then decide for yourself. Whats good for one person isnt good for another.
Another negative point SAMSUNG has the worst reputation with updating there android phones. Just a thought.

However, his question was not about which overall phone he should get. Just if there were anything specific to know about within the Fascinate family.
As for your opinion, its just that, you're personal opinion that only fits you. You were used to an iPhone and the apps you had. You got a completely different product that you are less happy with because you probably can't find the same apps or ones that worked comparably to what you had. Does that mean its automatically inferior, no, we as humans are just habitual and dislike change.
As for hardware, yeah, the iPhone's front camera and Apple's specific image software to tip the scales for the iPhone4 over the Fascinate. However, the EVO 4G easily bests the iPhone4.
If he were to wait on a different phone, he should do as others said and keep the Incredible and wait until later this year when a slew of LTE phones drop that ALL destroy iPhone4 and probably 5 as it will not be 4G.
As for iOS vs Android, meh, personal opinion. I like Android better as a techy guy and love the better inclusion of Google products. Again, we humans are habitual and my short stints with friends iPhones really don't do much.
For me, I'll stick with a far more open option that is rapidly surpassing anything iDevice has offered. Plus, I can create my own apps for free and without having to buy a Mac.

I just jumped ship from the Fascinate to the Thunderbolt a few days ago. Rooted and have been experimenting.
After getting a sense of the Thunderbolt and putting it side by side with the Fascinate, its not as dominant as I would have expected. The Fascinate's SAMOLED screen is just substantially better than the Thunderbolt's S-LCD. Its not even close really. Also, the latest gen Snapdragon + Adreno 205....doesn't seem as snappy as the Fascinate SoC. Fascinate definitely has better graphics. Very subtle stutters on the Thunderbolt after testing a few ROMs and Kernels. Also, its certainly a matter of opinion, but the Thunderbolt is just a tad too big compared with the Fascinate. They have the power button on top like an iPhone, and the way I would naturally grip the phone puts the power button barely out of reach of my index finger. I have to do a very small phone adjust in my hand to allow my index finger to get on top of the power button, but the Fascinate's 4 inch screen is about as large as I would imagine it could get for it to require no movement of the phone in the palm while operating it, which is preferable I think.
On the other hand - Verizon's LTE network is stupid fast. NYC with its saturated 3G networks -- the LTE network is like coming up for air after nearly drowning. Its rock solid everywhere I've been, almost like ubiquitous WiFi. When you really think about it, even the best Dual-Core Cortex A9 phones on ATT can't really touch a Cortex A8 experience on WiFi. The network makes an enormous difference and that can't be stressed enough.
The Thunderbolt is sexier than the Fascinate with its screen off. I don't really care about the kickstand, but the feel and heft is a welcome change from the Fascinate. Although not a graphics beast, it is by no means a slouch. The UI is very snappy, and I'll be very curious once CM7/AOSP gets released.
Thats the final thing about the Thunderbolt that I think is worth mentioning. The Thunderbolt forum is buzzing. Lots of devs, people are gearing up for CM7 nightlies/crackflashing. Not to say this forum wasn't Fantastic, but the Thunderbolt, and HTC in general, seem to have a slightly more robust community. I'm not at all upset with my decision to switch, but the Fascinate is by NO MEANS old hardware right now, in fact using the Thunderbolt makes me appreciate how good Samsung was on the hardware side.

That is a great question. I bought a used Fascinate to hold me over, and to learn the Android system. I am hoping that later in the year I can get something with dual core and LTE. But I also don't want to give up battery life. So this may not be possible.
I like Android, but have a bad opinion of Samsung compared to my previous multiple HTC WinMo devices.
So I want:
For the OS: Android, likely not Microsoft, never Apple.
Manufacturer: HTC, maybe Moto, Samsung is low on the list.
Carrier: Verizon...........period.. What I need it for, other choices fail.
Dual core would be nice, but not at the expensive of a lot of battery life.
I want LTE. Not badly, but there is not much reason to throw away a 2 year contract and not get it.
The Thunderbolt is almost it, and may BE it, for me. Maybe I really don't want dual core just yet anyway. The new SGS II is probably nice, but I'm sure I would be returning in to Verizon as it would have the same hardware weaknesses that I see in the Fascinate.
So I'm waiting it out for now to see what else comes along. Until I smash this P.O.S. Fascinate against the ground and I'm forced to decide.
It's going to be really tough for me to buy another Samsung phone. The internal guts of the Fascinate are awesome (which is why I bought it), but the lack of support and poorly written code is a real let-down. I'm definitely going to explore other phone manufacturers and carriers to see how things compare. If another network suits my daily needs, I'll definitely switch... possibly to T-Mobile given their upcoming line-up of phones. I'm not excited about the possible AT&T merger, but I definitely won't be locking myself into any contracts in the near future. Android progresses way too quickly to get locked into anything longer than 1 year - and those contracts are going away.
As much as most would hate to hear it, if the iPhone had Google Navigation, a universal micro-USB port and maybe removable internal storage + battery... I would consider it. I doubt those things would ever happen, so no iPhone for me. An MIUI-compatible Android would be much better anyways.
Galaxy S2. Samsung is improving. I mean, GB is rolling out to the i9000 before any other phone. Their hardware is superior. With the Galaxy S2, it's EXT4. AND, the bootloader is gonna be open. It seems that they ARE listening to the consumers. Though I'm angry that we still don't have 2.2, I blame Verizon for that more than Samsung.

Ya thats nice and all but lack of support for the vibrant left me never ever wanting a samsung phone again. The Girl is a typical 3-4 yr old, if you had kids you would understand Very funny ad....... disturbing but funny.......
As far as I can see with all the phones I looked at the S2 is still the winner, and I do not care about Samsung support, since I root, edit and modify ALL my electronics. XDA , the Devs and the community at large is the only support I need. Just need good hardware, and the S2 is exactly that.

lol i'm just kidding, i find the ad cute too.
Man, who really cares about a 3000+ quadrant? I do not know what mine is but everything loads up and runs as at a very fast and respectable time on my Vibrant. No doubt that 2.3 optimizes the hummingbird cpu which would make things even faster but I believe rather than focusing on increasing quadrant and all those score benchmarks, Samsung should work on other aspects of the phone such as setting the benchmark on excellent battery life and other parts of the phone.
I love the commerical... could totally see my daugther doing this (but she is not an idiot... she would do it because I didn't give her jelly beans).

I like HTC phones. But I'm sticking to my vibrant. The Devs here are shiz... I like everything about my vibrant. I have the 2.3.3 miui rom over clocked to 1.3 ghz. Man this flies. Plus I love my screen. I never relied on Samsung Support. I rely on the Awesome Developers. They always come through.

I'll second that! never tried the miui, although it does seem interesting. and we all know that no matter what happens, its not like we go to samsung for support anyways. get past that samsung support ordeal and get one of the greatest phones to market imo
like this guy has it right vv

I hope it is, but check out this video

Skip to 3:20 and see the LAG. I hope they fixed it in the production version, kind of suspicious though since Vibrant and Galaxy S have the same lag in production units...

lol, thats an old video. Samsung even stated it was pre release unfinished software that wasnt properly optimized for the chipset. That was back when the SGS2 was only hitting like 1600 Quads. Every review out now for even the unfinished 1ghz (its launching at 1.2ghz) says its lag free and fast as all heckity-do-da. The 3000+ quad score is a reflection of that. No worries!!
As far as battery, its a 1650mhz battery in there instead of the 1500 in the SGS and the dual cores are supposed to be better on battery life, so *hopefully* it should improve it a bit over current stuff.
Im totally stoked for it. The phone comes with so many options and things it can do it should keep us busy tinkering with it for a while to come.
I agree it will be the best phone of 2011 unless they actually get production tegra3's out the door before the end of the year.... then it will still be the best.. just not the most powerful..

A quadrant score says it all? Quadrant has proven to be inaccurate reflection of use responsiveness. And HTC makes very good hardware. You're very opinionated, and that article is far from fact. Though it looks nice it did lag in the video.

I am debating getting the Samsung Within (Galaxy S2) when it's released and would like to hear your thoughts on it. I have not been a big fan of the Samsung devices in the past but I am intrigued by this one.

I agree with you on that one. I think its more about being sure you get the right phone to have for the next 22 months. It's like getting married, you don't wanna make the wrong choice cause its gonna be a while. My biggest concern is data reception. My friend got a nexus s and couldn't connect to 4g when I had 2 bars of 4g standing right next to him. Also, all of the samoled screens I've seen have a color tint to them so I don't know if samoled+ will be any different.
I'm wondering about the tinted screen myself. I hadn't heard about the 4g issue. I always research my future phones but sometimes you just don't know about it till you get it.

Well I've had one samsung phone, and it was beast, it was the 'smart phone' of its day before smart phones as we know rule the playground. Never had a bad experience, and this one has the hardware to match the software; as I recall [could be wrong] samsung wasn't going to lock the bootloader so it should be rooted, potentialy quickly, and as that phone has the hardware, I believe it'll have more support than the notorious Epic. Also have a samsung 32" LED TV, amazing quality, and I think this phone is worth picking up, and if you don't like it, return it within the 30 days.

I have heard that the bootloader would be unlocked as well. That is another thing that makes me lean towards getting this. Hardware wise it looks pretty good.

As much as I have always loved htc, the s2 just seems to be a better phone. In the side by side videos I've seen it just seems smoother than the 3d. It definitely has the hardware, and from what I've heard the new touchwiz is supposed to be pretty good. I'm waiting go see if the whole subpixel thing actually improves the quality up to qhd like they claim. I'm also curious if sprint is going to add a hardware keyboard like they did with the galaxy s/epic. A no gimmick beast of a phone is definitely something I can deal with until the next upgrade comes up. Worst case scenario, if I go past the 30 days and decide I want the 3d, I'll just order a 3d when the wife isn't lookin and tell her I bought it cheap off a coworker.
i'm waiting. played with a SGS2 at CTIA in Florida.. should be awesomsauce & samsung gave out a handful of these devices to CyanogenMod devs so we should see some awesome stuff!!!

I am an HTC man myself. I hope that they dont add the physical keyboard to it. Just a personal preference. I think I'm going to make the jump when it comes out, that is when my wife gives me the money lol.

It's all about how you close the deal. My wife has a crap hero (no offense to hero owners, hers just sucks). So I told her I would go through asurion for a new evo since mine has some water damage, then I would let her have it after I upgrade to the 3d or galaxy s2. That way she could have a brand new evo until her upgrade comes in November. Not only is she bugging me to upgrade, but she thinks I'm a genius. Marriage, at times, is all about negotiation. As far as the hardware keyboard, I miss my touch pro 2 keyboard. I don't mind the thickness of the phone, and it made texting a bit easier sometimes. Also, remapping keys for shortcuts was a bonus too.

exact thought i had, although they cannot be that stupid. according to leaked rumors & ****, Sprint WILL have another keyboarded phone, but supposedly it wont be the "Samsung Within" aka the SGS2
I am also waiting to see what else comes out this month.I'm not really interested in the 3d but am keeping my eye on the rumored within
