hi, I am planning to buy a htc droid which is currently in verizon network in ebay.. but I don't know weather it will work in europe, with gsm networks??
so, will it work or better not to buy that phone??
If its a droid its cdma only. The milestone is the gsm model.

Wait for the Droid2 World Edition, it will have a dual GSM/CDMA radio in it

won't hacking it (using custom rom) solve this problem??
sent from my Android.
No, the cellular radio is different for GSM phones, not to mention the lack of a SIM card slot. It's a physical difference which cannot be changed with software.
Like others have said, the Milestone is the exact same phone but with a GSM radio. Or wait for the Droid 2 WE.

Is this the at&t version? If so I can not wait.

Looks like it. Plus this one has 4G antennas.

4g ? So this means it is diffirent hardware? Like the difference betwn gsm and cdma?
Sent from my Dell Streak using XDA App
It's still GSM but supports the upcoming 4G LTE. It should work on European networks, but only at 2G speeds, just like the DHD works on US GSM networks.

Im not a android user but att has some nice looking phones comin out. Im not usre if there the lastes & grast hardware avaible for droid since ive just been following wp7 lately tho. One it supposed to have a front & rear camera.

Why not just release Desire HD for the whole world? Why restrict it to EU and then make a slightly different one with a different name for US? Weird... s:
Because North Americans like to be "unique"
Is not us north Americans who want to be unique, In this case AT&T wants to have its way as always and restrict the phone and add their usual brand crap. If only HTC would sell it US VERSION UNLOCKED I would pay 600 for it.
I think the mentality is different in the US. People don;t usually buy SIM free phones at the full price there. Most get locked in a contract in which you get a free phone.
Moreover, the US uses different 3G bands than the rest of the world (except Telstra).
HTC Inspire (AT&T) is in FACT a Desire HD (ACE).
There will be plenty of good firmware available for it, including CM7.

The inspire is not a desire HD, for starters its a 4G device, so it will need totally diffrent radios, as for roms, i wouldnt be suprised if it had a revised hardward setup meaning it will need its own roms...

I'm not clear if CDMA and GSM are hardware or software based so I'm going to throw this noob question out there to see the possibilities.
Is it possible to switch my Droid X from CDMA to GSM and back again whenever I wanted to? for the sake of international travel
thanks for the tips!
It's hardware. So no. To are different radios. World phones with both radios may be able to but I have no knowledge of it.

Hey Guys,
Great deal on Ebay; there's droid incredibles that are refurbished (in B+ condition, I assume that it means near perfect but still a little handled)
for $105. Not a bad price for a phone.

The ebay description claims that it is locked to verizon,
I have never owned an CDMA phone so I don't know if XDA has ways to make it unlocked for any CDMA carrier
you can get it on other CDMA carriers (Cricket, Boost) pretty easily using EPST, but you cannot get it on any GSM carriers.

I think even the oldest android phone, the g1, can be updated to 2.3, so I don't think you have to worry about anything

Do you have some technical details available on how you did this? Did you noop the checks for the MNC for AT&T/T-Mobile? I just haven't found any information on how to take apart the radio ROM, and I'm very hesitant about bricking my Razr HD Maxx.
Its basically the same steps that they did on the RAZR M it's a Aussie radio that make its work for T-Mobile and att then if you want go back to verizon just flash the verizon radio back.. it's the only solution right now and its work great
Sent from my DROID RAZR HD using XDA Premium HD app
I assume you can only get 3G/HSPA+ service from AT&T, correct? Will it work on JB 4.1.x?
If it is like the M with the Telstra radio, then it will only work with GPRS/EDGE 2G GSM.
We are still working on a solution to this issue without success so far.

its just the modem is should be fine ... i don't see why it would cause any issues
you can always revert back if there are any issues
on the razr m the modem works for both ics and jb
i will take a screenshots when im in a 1900mhz area and some speed test results
First off this is just awesome. I wish this would have happened two weeks ago because I may not have bought this xt925 from eBay.
2 questions. What about flashing the xt925 radio so us AT&T users may be able to have LTE? Also, does anyone know what areas AT&T 1900mhz covers? Like does it blanket all the areas that they offer H+? Or is the 1900 band only in certain areas?
Great work!
I am not sure I will grab xt925 from work on Monday and play around with it to see if this possible
Love my job

Do you have to do anything special to get the data to work? I flashed this on my Razr HD and popped in a Tmobile prepaid sim, I can make phone call, but no sign of data connection. Do you have to change apn or something? Thanks a whole bunch!
Check your APN settings
Also change from global to gsm in network settings then reboot

I have one, but I cant connect it to Verizon. Does this phone is working in Verizon CDMA network ?? If so how can I achieve this ?? Phone also missing the IMS (MEID Verizon version). Please help.
VZW generally will only activate a phone they sold you one branded with VERIZON.

Everybody keep saying it, but why ??
When I have purchased phone, I saw the MHz its supporting, which is Verizon range from 800 to 1900.
PS Anybody knows the programming menu code for HTC ONE ?
The developer version is a gsm device and Verizon operates a CDMA network. They are incompatible and the phone will not work.

Its not a cdma phone. Wcdma is NOT the same as cdma. Its a different technology. And even if it were, it ISN'T, Verizon won't activate non Verizon phones on their network. Way to spend some good money on something without knowing how it works....

Better put your One up for sale, while it's still hot. Or, think about changing your wireless provider.

Its not a troll, I'm not so smart in this type of technology. In my mind it was very simple WCDMA is Docomo, which goes way ahead of regular CDMA, and Qualcomm made an support from WCDMA to CDMA2000, thats why I cant understand why Verizon CDMA don't want to support it.

Their service, imo, is not worth their prices. T-Mobile is catching up, and catching up fast. Unlimited everything for $70, no throttles, caps, nothing, and LTE is some areas already.
