The usual USE AT YOUR OWN RISK disclaimer. I'd also highly recommend clockworkmod recovery .08 as a pre-req. We are only testing for cwm users.
I Recommend a CACHE Wipe. Data wipe shouldn't be necessary.
IF YOU DON'T USE or DON'T PLAN TO USE - ROM Manager - Then there is no need to update. These changes will be added to BETA 4. Unless you want the new boot IMAGE below instead of the G-Tablet on white background currently present.
Build URL: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/
Downloads: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/downloads
1.0.0 Beta3b Link: http://vegantab.gojimi.com/download/gtab.vegan.1.00.beta3b.zip
This is an update.zip formatted file. You'd run this like you'd run any other update.zip file.
-----------------------------------------------
This is a collaborative effort between myself, Roebeet, Rothnic and whoever else wants to pitch in. A ROM based off the Advent Vega firmware.
Benefits of this supplement
- ROM Manager should now allow you to select G-Tablet as your device
Known issues(same as BETA 3)
- sdcard2 will not remount if you eject and re-insert (should be fixed in beta 3).
- The initial Google setup on a fresh install will not get past the first screen (I believe it's because the phone apks were removed). The fix for this is to use the "four corner fix", to bypass. See this video for details: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=L5XjF6sPef4. This should be fixed in beta 3.
- weird orange bar is showing up in the stock Calendar app.
Changelog
- (a2) We are using alpha1 as our "base" image, and then a modular format on top of that. So, alpha2 is a full update.zip package.
- (a2) VOLD should be fixed using a hack. 30 seconds after bootup, SDCARD2 should start working. Or, it may not work. It's an alpha.
- (a2) Vega user apk script has been added, which is supposed to add Flash on a newly wiped system. But it's spotty at best.
- (a2) Camera should be fixed.
- (a2) We're deleting some of the unneeded system apps like Twitter, Facebook, the Htc stuff in gapps and talkback. You can always add these back via the Market. The reason is to keep the image a little cleaner.
- (a2) Audio fix added.
- (a3) Added changes to the framework for smaller status bar and VEGAn boot screen.
- (a3) Added Gingerbread keyboard.
- (b1) SSL bug fixed. Also, added the latest YouTube and Gmail apps. Removed the user apk script for now, as it's really buggy.
- (b2) VOLD post-boot replaced with a mount commend. Should be more stable and might fix the disappearing apps, I hope. New Gmail, adhoc wireless support added, adfree hosts file removed (get "adfree android" app in the market to get it back), removed the Phone apks which should improve battery life.
- (b3) Mounting issues should be completely corrected, audio issues are corrected, new rothnic theme added, new Gmail and Voice apps, new Settings app with advanced Wifi (and policy is set to "never sleep" by default).
- (b3b) Fixed ROM Manager to allow G-Tablet device Selection
New Boot Image replaces G-Tablet logo on white background:

worked great thanks
Finally, it is not embarrassing to reboot in public. Thank you much.
Well, everything was working fine. I cleared cache and installed the new update and now I cant get WIFI to connect. I'd really prefer not to data wipe.
Just goes from scanning, to connected, back to disconnected, then scanning again. Sigh
If you are using wireless tether for android, try quickly enabling then disabling access control. It should connect almost immediately after that. Works for me, anyways.

Yup that's where I was heading next, I successfully connected to a neighbors network, so its gotta be something on my end. Thanks
And yes I rebooted.
New boot image is great. Now I just have to follow the guide to get rid of the birds.
I didn't have any problems applying this over my beta 3 vegan. Wifi connected just fine. Just had to do the market fix again. Easy peasy.
Good job.

Flawless. Thanks.
Did you guys do something to improve 3D graphics? Like pick up a new GLES lib??? As my Quadrant scores are Now 2610!!! Only slowdown is IO writes else I couldn't have watched any individual test, as each so swift...
Lost access to the internal SD card while in CM. I can still see it with root explorer but now I have to place all zip files to flash on the external card... Not a bid deal but I'm wondering id that was the intent....
this is awesome! unlocked some stuff that i couldn't use before in rom manager. now it properly flashes the latest cwm recovery and also able to flash back to bekit 0.8. nice! liking the new boot image as well.

What Clockwork did you flash from ROM Manager... or have currently on your tablet. As far as I know. only bekit 0.8 clockwork also available on ROM Manager allows access to internal memory. Until that is changed we still recommend 0.8.
Let me know.
ok this newest version isn't working right for me. i'm on version 2.5.1.8 (the latest) and it only recognizes sdcard2 and not sdcard. when i make a backup, it goes to sdcard2. when i choosed to install a zip, it looks in sdcard2. i tried reflashing back to bekit 0.8 but it wouldn't even let me create a backup. i'm gonna try and flash to a dif version.

I had a similar issue. if i tried to run from Rom Manager, after going back to bekit 0.8, it still tried to go to the sdcard2. if I manually rebooted into recovery it worked fine.

awesome! this worked. flashed back to bekit 0.8 and booted into recovery using hot reboot, not rom manager. i guess rom manager is pretty much useless at this point for me.
I'm trying to load up the gapps ZIP, to get Market and my Google apps going.
1. The whole "press and hold for X seconds" on the power/n buttons ain't working too well for me. The thing keeps just loading normally or rebooting cuz I hold power too long or something).
2. When inside CM7, and I choose Reboot/REcovery, it actually skips the SD entirely and loads me into the original B&N on the machine itself. Derp.
I followed these instructions for installing CM7
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1000957
using the update-cm-7.0.0-encore-signed.zip as recommended by quinxy here:
http://quinxy.com/2011/04/01/comple...on-the-nook-color/comment-page-3/#comment-944
So, any tips or ideas on how to get into recovery (it's a CM7 install on SD) so I can put in Market and GAPPS?
I also noticed that when it boots, I'm in some black screen always and have to click power twice to actually get the CM7 desktop to show. Whassup with that?
edit: also, is there harm with installing CWM from ROM manager in this CM7 SD card install? Will it install it to the SD card, or to the Nook Color itself? Will it dork things up? I want to keep them separate (B&N on the machine, CM7/GB on the SD). Is this the reason I can't get into any kind of recovery mode, because I don't have CWM installed?
Which build of CM7 are you running? The more recent nightlies made the reboot into recovery process easier.

I'm really not sure -- I grabbed the one I was told to do in the post at:
http://quinxy.com/2011/04/01/comple...on-the-nook-color/comment-page-3/#comment-944
with a direct link to update-cm-7.0.0-encore-signed.zip, whatever that is. The file is here:
http://mirror.teamdouche.net/get/update-cm-7.0.0-encore-signed.zip
Since creating an install to SD is so brain-dead simple, I'm happy to switch over to something else if needed.
What about CWM? If I go to ROM manager, it tells me CWM isn't installed. If I install it - is it putting it to the SD or the machine itself? I'd really love to keep it internally clean, all on the SD.
You should be running at least the latest stable build, 7.0.3. If you're more daring, like me, you can install the latest nightly, which may in the 100's now (I haven't checked in a couple days).
I honestly haven't done anything in ROM manager yet so I can't offer any advice there. I've had problems with it and don't care eenough to troubleshoot. I use Win32imager to make img backups of my install.

I just went here:
http://download.cyanogenmod.com/?device=encore
and grabbed the top one, cm_encore_full-106.zip, and it is installing to the card now, we'll give it a shot and see how well it works. I'm *assuming* these are all CM7.
edit: I got a different boot splash screen than the previous one, so that's a bonus. Nicer boot animation. Crossing fingers that it doesn't start up in sleep mode like the other build package did (always had to toggle power button to get the desktop to show after a boot). Yar, desktop!
OK, now to see if this thing will reboot into recovery....
Yup, that should do it. Didn't realize we were up to 106 already!! CM7 is short for Cyanogen mod 7, so yes, they're all CM7 See how 106 works for you.

You're a genius - it was a crappy build of CM7 I must've flashed first. The latest did the trick. Nice boot anim, came right to desktop, rebooting into recovery picked up the gapps zip and installed it.
Thanks for the advice. I'll make a restore point with Win32Image thingy now. Thanks again for your help.

Ha! I have no idea, like I said, I just started posting here so I have no idea how to do it either. Maybe someone smarter than I will post with the answer.
Well, GAPPS is installed -sort of- but now stuck at "SETUP WIZARD" at the top whenever I boot the nook. Softkeys are not responding, the only thing that does is the notifications pulldown. No desktop, just a big fat "SETUP WIZARD" at the top, and black screen.
Grrr.
edit: Rebooted it, and now have a nice normal set up screen. Yay.
Maybe an obvious question, but did you make sure to setup your WiFi connection before installing the gapps? One time I was in a hurry and installed gapps before setting up my WiFi and I had to start over
I did that twice already, but even with setting up wifi, i got that setup wizard glitch (which went away when I simply rebooted). It looked a lot like a set up screen for gapps that didn't render quite right. It's probably an artifact from being on the most bleeding edge nightly....
it's all up and running though, and looking very nice. love the fact it's all on the SD - so very, very nice.
I'm glad you got it working. I think I got that weird gapps glitch one time but yeah, it goes away after a reboot.
I too LOVE that it's all off the SD card. My daughter (3) likes a couple apps that I have on the Barnes and Noble interface, so about once a week I boot into that (its horrid by the way once you've been running CM7 for a while). I'm going to be helping a friend get CM7 on his viewsonic g tablet this weekend and thats a full flash to main memory install. Makes me a bit more neervous but it looks pretty straight forward.
By the way, I highly recommend Launcher Pro, with the unlocker (a couple bucks). it makes everything soooooo smooth.
I use LP on my EVO (running rooted w/a cleaned up Sense ROM w/o any sprint bloat). I love it. I find GO launcher, ADW and LP all have very similar features.
I have a few paid apps (Titanium Backup, Root Explorer, Beautiful Widgets) - that I bought with the Evo and are working here, was able to DL and install them from Market - so that's handy.
Although "Move to SD Card" seems sorta "huh, wha?" now.
I haven't overclocked my nook yet - think it's something I should do? I read about some kernel tweak to kick it up to 1.1GHz. The final thing I need to do is get Netflix working on here, then I'll be content.
I'm running LP on my HTC Desire and its awesome. not necessarily better than sense, but its fresh, like a new phone almost.
I have NO idea what "move to SD card" does if you're running on an SD card. I'd love an explanation from someone on that.
I can help you get Netflix going if you need help. That's my number one favorite app on my Nook Color. That alone made installing CM7 worth it. Nothing better than sitting in bed at night watching movies on it.
Oh yeah, under Cyanegon Mod settings, find tablet tweaks (careful, dragons ahead), and you can easily overclock the CPU to 925 MHz right there. I don't know a way of setting it higher while running off an SD card. If you figure it out, point me in the right direction please?

I wouldn't mind some help getting Netflix going, if you would please. I noticed it's not even appearing in the Market (I think Market changed a bit to filter out unsupported apps now).
As far as moving to SD card - I did notice a few glitches. Things like moving Facebook caused Facebook's contact/feed syncing to break and vanish. I suppose anything that needs background processes are going to be flakey. There were other ones, like Word for Friends that also glitched on me. I just moved them back to "phone" and they worked again.
Not really pressed for space - but yeah, minor bugs there.
So....netflix?
Found an APK I was able to side-load, but Netflix is all chipmunk-y!
Someone has a download link to the apk file on these forums. Look around for that. Tell your Nook to install third party apps. Install the program after downloading that.
Install Root Explorer and allow it super user access. Open up the system folder and mount r/w. Open up build.prop in the text editor. Change the following lines to match this.
ro.product.model=HTC Vision
ro.product.manufacturer=HTC
The first one normally says NookColor and the seconds says bn.
save the file and restart the device. Netflix should work like a charm, and best of all, the Android Marketplace does not break. Although the market will think you have an HTC Vision
Modifying the build.prop file fixes the chimpmonk problem by the way.

For some reason, Root Explorer (and SU) don't think it's rooted. I see SU installed and when I launch it, it tries to update itself, and says something like "failed to update, probably from not being rooted - zip put on sd card, flash it in recovery."
Root Explorer doesn't give me my usual option to flip to R/W mode and edit files. I tried installing Busybox, too - and that thing complained about not being rooted as well.
So, dunno why - but this doesn't seem to think it's rooted. Odd, considering it all exists on the SD card.
Any clues?
Hi everybody, this is my first post, though I've been a reader from a long time ago.
Long story short: I received this milestone 2 from my brother, my other phone is a defy (cm7), I use both of them, updated to cm9 on milestone, milestone kaput, need help, has anybody got a clue on what is going on with my phone?
Last night or so I grabbed a copy of the latest CM9 rom from the forum, installed it and really loved it. Except for two messy TINY things. except for that I cannot believe I got almost 2 days of battery out of it!!!
First issue: Google apps, I mean anything google related, won't work and FC. even if I am am on the browser, and try to type an address, the second google search kicks in to show suggestion dara! dead google crap.
Second Issue: Home button won't do anything. I mean the phone does vibrate when it is pressed, by the way I already chcked for key assignments, not even long-pressing it will show any response except for the vibration.
Third issue: Say Im reading something, lock my phone... when unlocking it, it won't show me the lockscreen, even though it is activated.
at first I said "ok let's swap launchers maybe I can make it go away" and so Ive tried ADW ex, trbuchet and a couple more, with no success, going back to ADW regular, a very nice thing here, is that video recording has worked well since the first time I flashed the rom.
Thanks for your eventual responses!!
I almost forgot: this is what I have done until now: flashed and reflashed at least 6 times, flashed gapps, flashed gapps fix, in many combinations, wiping the hell out of the phone every time... I'm really stuck in here!
Ive also searched not only the forums but the internet aswell, and I find my googling skills pretty decent to be fair
New developments!
So, I got a little curious.. I had installed on my milestone the ics alike cm7... or so I remember, (if it was a theme my bad, anyway...) I was going through phone information, and I noticed something strange:
Android version: 2.3.7
mod version: CyanogenMod-72-111215..........NIGHTLY Milestone 2 gb
Build number: Gingerbread GWK74 CyanogenMilestone 2
so one does not have to be a genius to just see that I *may* have not applied the update, or that the updating process was somehow incomplete.. question has anybody who has ever applied CM9 on their phones came to this issue?? have you applied the update via cwmod or stock recovery or wtf am I doing wrong here uh?
I am really, really puzzled!!
cm7 has a theme that make it looks like ICS but its still a gingerbread (2.3.x android version).
CM9 is the real ICS.
You installed CM7 with a ICS theme, as we can see in your mod version: CyanogenMod-72-111215..........NIGHTLY Milestone 2 gb
knew that already!
yup dude, you are totally right, I may have confused you people along my post...
I have had installed CM7 with the ICS theme, the one with the 2.3.6 android
However, I grabbed a copy of CM9 from this forum (the one based on tezet's work, that first one on the dev thread...)
I flashed that file via cwm..
and I've had, as I state on mi first post here, flashed, reflashed, recontraflashed the thing, and resseted my phone to factory so much that it has got to be newer than brand new now... just kidding..
anyway, thanks for your interest man, my bad!
I've just re-read my post.. I never mentioned that I already had installed CM7 on my milestone!
LOL.
Try this:
In the bootmenu you can choose between "stock" "custom or "latest" recovery, try with a different one i think it worked for me when i used custom recovery.
LOL :S
Dude lol I think I've just messed up BIG TIME.....
well seeing how it didnt seem to work out any way, thanks for pointing out the other recovery methods btw.
I may have not told you the whooole story
the freaking usb connection wont work.. it hasn´t worked since I got the phone nor it has worked now.. the charge led will never turn on, or will the pc or mac or whatever I plug it into react somehow to it.
anyway, I may have flashed the rom again in stock recovery and this is where things got nasty... It doesnt get past the boot logo, which by the way, was the red M logo, the last time I remember it to boot (even after re re re re re re flashing the CM9 rom!!!!!) it had another one.... weird uh????
now it gets even weirder just read this thing!!!
The phone will get past the red M logo, then the screen goes black, but I can see it is lit...
I waited for a really long time (more than 30 minutes) to see no response..
took out the battery... did not power it on again as i had stuff to do..
I dont know why, but I plugged it into the usb cable.. (I was working on the computer) And the phone turned on!!!!!!! so I guess It is not a busted usb port???
I went on ahead to go to bootloader, and when I plug the cable it is shown as such!!!
sadly, rsd does not recognize the phone as plugged, even though the phone says it is indeed plugged in...
what the hell is wrong????
is there any way I can flash anything if Im stuck after the red M?
this sucks
Oh man...
There are 2 versions of gingerbread kernels, the chinese and the European. As i understand you've flashed the wrong version (CH rom over EU GB kernel or otherwise).
You can try flashing the fixed_sbf which is the CH kernel. Or you can try the below, which is my suggestion:
Download the 2.3.4 EU (UK) SBF flash it through RSDlite and then root, installl bootstrap, bootmenu and then the CM9 EU GB rom.
TWO IMPORTANT THINGS: NEVER INSTALL 2.3.6 VIVO OR PERSONAL ARGENTINA SINCE THEY ARE UNROOTABLE!! And also never use RSDlite when you are running low on battery.
And the MS2 is safe for flashing since it has a locked bootloader so its VERY hard to brick it. Your screen is black because it is in the bootloader mode.
Do not Vivo and Claro 2.3.6 roms
Be careful, VIVO and CLARO roms should not be used.
dafuq!
Nite! my man, I´ve been careful enough to avoid flashing wrong kernels so no, the answer is not there..... sadly...
I cannot interact in NO way with the device via USB, so flashing through RSD is a no-go.........
I do have another phone though.........
so the main prob here is now I do know what to do.. I think I´ve always knew rsd is the way to go.. as for the locked BL, yeah! Ive been into motomodding since the c350.. I really think I do know my way in the motorola mess if you know what I mean, OS may have changed but the system's structure's still the same **** from the old days!...
Basically now my question is this:
what the **** can I do given what I have??? (a non working usb connection, and a phone stuck at Bootloader OR stock Recovery....)

if power+up arrow and then flashing via rsd don't work for you
you only have two options - first is power+x and then @ which gets you to build in recovery (try to wipe or find an update.zip that can be flashed [if there is any - never did that myslef])
or flashing from your custom recovery if you have one installed
that is all i know (but i only have milestone since tuesday )
good luck anyway
Geez man!!!
So have you tried using another usb cable? Cause i've exhausted my theories about your problem... sorry
every freaking cable
As I got it as a gift, I thought my defy´s charger was "not powerful enought" even though that was absolutely ridiculous...
I went and try to buy the charger but nobody in here seems to know the pnhone so I would be kind of afraid to take it to service
Une petit question
so I think I found a really good site with *loads* of firmwares, branded debranded, official etc...
just to be sure, I tried to flash the update again in stock recovery (pwer + x) but at some point the installer promted some error about signature verification in the whole file.
so my question(s) are:
can I make a file *signed* in any way? if so can you point me out where and how to start?
and just to be on the safe side: If only if only I can grab something that I would be able to flash via stock recovery... I should flash a 2.3.7 based one right? If I do try and flash something lower I would make my problems worst right???
btw, If the phone freezes or sometimes goes through the red M, but there is no led lighting up, can I still go into custom recovery eg. CWM???
About the signing the zip file, yes you can, but i don't know how search in the "Android Development" section. But sbf files cannot be signed... if you discover how you will be the MS2 savior!
In the CWM you can flash just about anything as it can be reversed by flashing sbf's, on the otherside, YOU SHALL NOT FLASH!! Any VIVO or PERSONAL ARGENTINA 2.3.6 rom (sbf) cause they are unrootable. You should do just fine flashing the 2.3.4 UK.
And i don't think you will be capable of entering the CWM if the led doesn't flash cause it's an error that happens before CWM is started. In this cases you will have to flash sbf's, root.... all over again.
thaks man, but......
then the only way give I cannot flash under RSD, is making a "completeupdatewhateverCMorMIUUdafuq.zip" signed so I can load it through stock recovery rite???
remember CWM not availible.. nor USB interface...

a little discovery!
Source: http://www.londatiga.net/it/how-to-sign-apk-zip-files/
When publishing an application or a custom rom you need to sign the .apk or .zip files with a certificate using a private key. The Android system uses the certificate to identify the author of an application and establish trust relationship between applications.
The classic way of doing this was to use keytool then sign it with jarsigner. In this tutorial i’ll explain an alternative method which is relatively easy to use for most people using a tool called SignApk.jar.
SignApk.jar is a tool included with the Android platform source bundle, you can download it from here.
To use SignApk.jar you have to create a private key with it’s corresponding certificate/public key. To create private/public key pair, you can use Openssl. Openssl is relatively easy to use under unix/linux system. For Windows user, you can download Windows version of Openssl here.
How to create private/public key pair using openssl (windows version)
Download openssl package from google code link.
Extract it anywhere...
Within openssl directory type (using cmd admin mode: ctrl+shift+r then cmd):
- openssl genrsa -out key.pem 1024
- openssl req -new -key key.pem -out request.pem
- openssl x509 -req -days 9999 -in request.pem -signkey key.pem -out certificate.pem
- openssl pkcs8 -topk8 -outform DER -in key.pem -inform PEM -out key.pk8 -nocrypt

}
(dload SignApk.rar)
Extract it anywhere
If you don’t have java installed, download and install it.
Copy certificate.pem and key.pk8 into your extracted SignApk directory
Within SignApk directory type (again using cmd admin mode: ctrl+shift+r then cmd):
java -jar signapk.jar certificate.pem key.pk8 your-app.apk your-signed-app.apk
OR
java -jar signapk.jar certificate.pem key.pk8 your-update.zip your-signed-update.zip
Note:
If you don’t want to create your own public/private key pair, you can use test key included in SignApk.rar.
Sooooo now what the hell do I have to sign???
LOL I'll go for the update I was trying to install at first... if anything goes wrong I'll just take it to service I guess have the USB repaired and RSD the hell out of it.. after all this is a reaaaaly great great phone uh?
maybe I should go first with the UK you suggested man?
About my last post
Hello everyone, so... the signing didnt went well LOL -.-
I guess I have to make the "signature" to match moto's right?
how can I get hold of that signature information? I mean can I download a signed (official) update, which is flashable via stock recovery (is there any???) extract the signature information, and then apply it to my package??????
Ok, now just to put things on the clear side: the instructions in the last post were not written well, but you may already knew that if you read the post.
anyway, as for the problems I ran into:
1: ctrl shift r does not do ****... just typoe cmd on the start menu, right-click it and run as admin.
2: It is EASIER if you copy everything to the root of your drive, and give files and folders short names!
3:
openssl genrsa -out key.pem 1024 <here you may run into an error regarding openss.conf.... just copy openss.conf from openss directory to openss/bin/ directory....
openssl req -new -key key.pem -out request.pem
openssl x509 -req -days 9999 -in request.pem -signkey key.pem -out certificate.pem
openssl pkcs8 -topk8 -outform DER -in key.pem -inform PEM -out key.pk8 -nocrypt
ok from now on it is pretty straightforward, I haven't got time to play around but, There is a step in which the program asks for your Company's name, adress, etc.. maybe if you knew what info is in motorola's signature you can make this fields match??
well I don't know.. but ill try and discover it!

Nope and nope. Please learn something about signatures, how they work etc. You can't (obviously) "extract" the private key from the signed file... The signing would be useless then - don't you think?

Stop it. You just wasting your time.
Your real options:
1) Get signed update.zip from Moto (I don't think there is any and I did not saw any)
2) get your USB port fixed and flash it via RSDLite. (if it is HW problem - just fix or get it fixed, otherwise, you are doing something wrong)
RSDLite and SBF flash is your only realistic option.
RSDLite works everytime. You can not break (except for HW issue) your M2 the way, it will not work with RSDLite.

Please note that the Automatic Script erases Cache for safety. If you get into recovery straight away after flashing Cache partition won't mount until you Wipe it. This will not happen if you reboot directly into Android as it will get regenerated on start up.

Allow ui.xml file to include additional xml files to help break up the theme and make TWRP easier to maintain
Other minor fixes and improvements
Note: 2.7 marks the first time that we are dropping support for older devices. We are doing this because of the SELinux support needed to install 4.4 Kit Kat ROMs. The non-TWRP parts of the recovery image have to be built in at least a 4.1 tree and the kernel that is included in the recovery image has to support writing SELinux contexts. We don't own most of the devices that we support so we depend on outside testers and developers to help us update devices. In many cases we can't find someone readily. Come to #twrp on Freenode if you want to help bring your device up to date. You can tell right away if your device will support 4.4 ROMs in 2.7. Boot TWRP and press the console button (the square-ish button either in the bottom middle or upper right) to view the console output. If it doesn't say "Full SELinux support" in the console, then your device still needs some work. Help us help you.

BRICKED HTC ONE 802w WEIBO
Hy guys,
I pretty glad that you could make it up. :cyclops:
It looks great but unfortunately didn't work for me. :crying:
Well I'm newbie so not so expert in doing all those operations.
On top, I am... French (...nobody's perfect!) and try through the language to catch your posts.
Not so easy.
Actually I have HTC One 802w (M7CDUG PVT) Weibo from China Unicom,
After many attempts I download Moonshine for S-OFF but now now I am stuck on the WEIBO logo of 1st page...
No rooting possible. called.. .er... Bricked? oui?
Damn! it was working more or less (except the Chinese apps I can't read + competition in between Google Play and HTC Market).
But at least, working great.
Situation is like having the latest Bugatti Veyron and can't shift the 3rd speed... Frustrating!
The mobile is not any more recognized when plugged to computer, Only Distiller can detect it... to end with error!
But if someone can post me a lead (at least) it would make my day or my Xmas...!!!
Meantime someone can post something, I sincerely wish you all a very Happy Time to all XDA members, Developpers, Contributors, etc.
Looking forward to reading you.

I can tell you that somebody tried to install KitKat using TWRP 2.6.3.4 with no success. I don't know if that means that it cannot work with it.
From what I can gather from your posts, you seem very knowledgeable, so you can just go ahead and try and if it doesn't work just flash another recovery.

Yep. I would suggest 2 things. Get the uid, then flash a full update rom to 3.2. Then ota it to ics. Am mobile now, so you get the ball maverick!
Those demo roms are missing half the stuff. Not sure whether he has ext sd card access. Might have to euu him. Hence uid.

Hi, thank you all for your replies I am still having a hard time fully understanding everything like I said I am new to android. What I do know is it doesnt have google play which is my main concern. Kernel version 2.6.36.3 if that helps anyone its not bricked, I wouldnt mind flashing it if that would fix the problem and make it like a normal tablet version. Whats a UID? Where do I find it? Thanks again for your help

Well we will try and keep things simple for you, which isn't easy with this particular android device but the very first thing you should do is to retrieve your CPUID. This is imperative. If anything ever goes wrong this CPUID is needed to help you unbrick.
First we need to set up your PC to be able to communicate with your tab, so we need some drivers. This whole process works best with win7/vista/xp so if you are doing this on win8 you may have some issues. In saying that, if you're a Linux user, then thats even better, so please say if you are we can bypass a heap of stuff!!!
Head over to Acer Support and download the Acer drivers here Run the .exe to install
Download the usb drivers from here extract to a folder on your PC (desktop).
Once your drivers are installed check they are installed correctly.
1. Grab your micro usb cable and hook your tab to your PC (u should hear windows make the new hardware connected sound. Then you should see the 'new hardware wizard' attemp to install the Acer Drivers. Hopefully everything should install correctly.
2. Now on to test the usb/adb drivers. The files you extracted to your desktop. We aren't going to do anything as such with these, they just need to be on your system somewhere.
So, when you are ready.....right click the extracted folder (hold down shift key at the same time) You should see the context menu with an option to
"Open command window here..."
3. When the command opens type the following with no quote marks:
"adb devices" and then press enter.
4. You should see "List of devices attached....and a series of numbers/letters here like this:
{
"lightbox_close": "Close",
"lightbox_next": "Next",
"lightbox_previous": "Previous",
"lightbox_error": "The requested content cannot be loaded. Please try again later.",
"lightbox_start_slideshow": "Start slideshow",

"lightbox_full_screen": "Full screen",

"lightbox_download": "Download",
"lightbox_share": "Share",
"lightbox_zoom": "Zoom",
"lightbox_new_window": "New window",
"lightbox_toggle_sidebar": "Toggle sidebar"
}
this is your magical CPUID! and it should have 15 characters - write this number down and guard it with your life!!!
5. If you don't see this window, it means your PC does not 'see' your tab.
Try a different micro usb cable and make sure the cable is firmly connected, try a different usb port on your PC.
Well, thats your first lesson of the day
Once the drivers are setup correctly, we can move on to getting your tab upgraded into some ICS/Jellybean goodness!
Good luck with lesson 1, ya got any probs or u don't understand something, just ask
dibb

Not that I am aware of. Gonna need a PC with windows XP or 7. Mainly because most of the apps we use are windows based. And I wouldn't trust a windows emulator. Also, acer drivers install is windows based.
Do you have access to your external SD card? Will need to know.
The demo unit is the same as a regular 500. All the same hardware. The difference is the ROM they install. If you have access to your external SD card, it will make the process a little easier. Basically just put a full update rom on it, and reboot it via recovery.
But.... UID number we must have, just in case things go south as dibb said.
So check access to external sd card. You can do this by going to Settings>Storage and check.
Don't worry, we've done a couple of demo units in the past.
Mac's.....pffffttttt.....

NEWS FLASH
I told you we have dealt with Demo units in the past.
Go to;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1410802&highlight=demo
You;ll need to read the posts....
Install the old Iconiaroot apk
Install Acer Recovery and let it install a CWM (custom recovery). Probably the oldest version.
After it's done, Flash a version 3.1 ROM
Let it OTA all the way to ICS
This of course is just another option. This is the old original way before version 3.2.

Well, that figures..demo unit... EUU time.
Basically, you are going to need a windows PC with the acer drivers installed. The whole process will take about an hour, so make sure your tablet is charged fully.
Get the following files;
1. http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1816560 scroll down to the EUU, and click the box "show content". Select the torrentz file. Yes, it's torrentz, so you will need a torrentz app installed on the PC. If you don't want to deal with torrentz, let me know, and I'll check my drives nd see if I have the package.
2. go here;
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1624645
Go to the bottom, and download the "usbdeview". There are 2. 1 for 32 bit windows, and 1 for 64 bit windows.
Extract both of those above packages to a folder on your pc.
Now, make sure on your tablet, you have USB Debugging set to ON (look in your System Settings, as I can't remember exactly where on HC 3.0). Connect yer tablet to PC and make sure you have no errors. If everything is good, unplug, and plug it back in a few times just to be sure.
Now, with tab connected, run the USBdeview app you extracted. Should give you a long set of numbers and letters. Write them down, or save in Notepad. This is your UID. You can close the app
Next, with tab still connected, run the EUU executable you extracted. Just follow the steps exactly as they say. This may take awhile. It'll probably ask for that UID number at some point.
When it's all finished, you should have to restart the tab, and the first boot will be somewhat long (10+ minutes or so). But it should boot into a fully working 3.0 HC. Which is crap by the way . You'll need to OTA, or contact us for advice.
Good luck.

try this EUU it will upgrade you to HC3.2.1 - its pre-rooted and will give you a custom recovery as well. Theres a readme with instructions included in the zip. As with any EUU you will need your cpuid to use it but usbdeview is also in there.
while you are waiting for this to download try rooting your current rom with this then install this .apk and you will be able to install a custom recovery. Once you are in recovery, the main screen will display yr cpuid too.
