So here's my situation... i am a former ATT customer... and just so recently switched over to TMOBILE... now how can i save my contacts to my storage card so that i can just plug it in to my new phone.... i tried Active Sync with my Fuze and for some reason its not connecting... i don't know why.. so thats out of the question... is there any app out there or something that can let me put all my contacts on my HD2?? i suppose i could do it manually.. but it seems rather tedious... any help is appreciated
Hi, Can you sync your Fuze with Microsoft Myphone then transfer over to your HD2?
Are your contacts on your ATT SIM? Could you insert your ATT SIM into your HD2 and transfer? There are also SIM backup and restore solutions (a quick Google would uncover the best one for you).
Just some thoughts.

a windows mobile app called "vcard expert" can backup & restore all your contacts in a single file. used it on an HD2 worked ok.

Creating Contact in x10 does not synch with gmail?

Dear all,
Did a search and could not find anything that related to my specific problem. So apologies if I did not look hard enough.. BUT...
I finally cleaned up all my contacts on google and synched my phone with googlesynch rather than sony synch. Great all fine, except.. if I create a contact in my x10, so someone calls me, I add their number as a new contact. When I next synch the contacts, the new contact has been deleted!
I can not for the life of me find any setting on the x10 which chooses how it synchs and why it keeps deleting the contacts!?
Any help advice would be appreciated...
What happens if u go to settings, data synchronization, google sync, n check the auto sync option n then add the new contact?
perhaps mayb try mess with the option at the bottom, group synchronization?
hope its of any use!!
Sent from my rooted x10i using swype via xda!!
Tried autosynch, and manual synch, and unselected all the group options. Stilll no joy. I presume this works fine for everyone else?

Yep, works fine for me.
i had this prob...
since then stopped using sync services..
whenever u need a backup of ur contacts, jus go to contacts tab and select backup to mem card.
a .vcf file is created in the storage card\system\pim folder which has all ur contacts..

Don't have my X10 with me at the moment but isn't there an option on which direction to sync? Directly on the X10 or on Gmail website settings?
Unless I'm thinking of Windows Mobile Device Center

I can't see that option on my Xperia, but not checked gmail settings as it either updates my phone if I create a contact in gmail or in gmail if created on my phone.
Hi all,
Could not find any settings to decide which way to synch. Hard Reset the phone and all works fine now! Thanks for all the suggestions though.
I had a slight suspicion it might have been to do with the googlemail.co.uk changing to gmail.com? But then why would the original synch work with the other contacts? maybe it would not allow googlemail account to add into gmail account?
Anyhow, after a full reset (and registering gmail on the phone) it seems to be fine now, touch wood(!)
Thanks again

Kies - Most frustrating piece of software ever. For the love of God, please help me..

I bought the phone last night and already spent 5 unsuccessful hours trying to connect to my PC, have it recognized, and sync contacts/email. All I get are error messages.
1. Anyone want to tell me why there is no software available to download on the phone's product page - samsung.com/us/support/do...SGH-T959ZKATMB ? I tried Kies Mini (update), that works fine. It would be freaking nice to put the main Kies app there.....unless of course it's not supported?
2. I downloaded Kies 2.0 from somewhere else on Samsung's website. Installed drivers, which initially failed (it pointed to my Netgear Wireless Router for some reason - WTF DOES THE PHONE HAVE TO DO WITH M ROUTER), I had to enable Windows Update, and then it was a success. I connect my phone via USB, the only 3 options I have are Kies (firmware update), Media Player, Mass Storage. There is no option just for the normal Kies. So I select Kies (firmware update), and Kies tells me "Kies 2.0 does not support my device".
I've done a lot of Googling and I'm just frustrated now. I unmounted, and removed the 2GB Samsung SD Card (default) already. What the hell else do I have to do now?
I've had mine for 6 mobths and only connected once. Good luck buddy I'm interested in responses.

So what the hell do we do? I have to input 200 contacts manually? I don't have data on my phone currently

How did you buy the phone without data? Assuming you didn't buy it from tmo? If you have the contacts on another phone you can take it up to your local tmobile store, ask if they can transfer everything with the cellebrite if they have one, I think every store does.
what format are your contacts in? You can copy them to your sim card and move them over. Contacts has an import from sd card feature. Also, google contacts will sync to the phone, but my google contacts are so cluttered from years of gmail I don't use it. There are apps for email, but the gmail one is good enough for me

Kies is terrible, and the cause of a lot of issues.
Could you explain what it is that you need? If it's just contacts, use google contacts so it syncs automagically.
If you do not have data, use wifi.

I have all my contacts in my Nokia OVI Suite backup. I made the mistake of not copying all my contacts to my SIM card before selling that Nokia phone.

Yes, I can see. Samsung software is terrible in general. I have no luck with Samsung....no luck at all.
What I need right now is some way to import all my contacts into the phone. It looks like I'll have to manually input all the contacts whichever path I choose...I'd like to use Outlook 2007, but gmail may be my only option...I have a gmail account but I only use it to forward my ISP emails there...
Aside from contact synchronization, I would have also liked to use Kies for music/video/applications as well but I guess I'm SOL now. What do you guys recommend? I don't have data but I have WIFI at home.
If you have Wifi connection them i will suggest android manager a free product. I am using it for last 3 months as Kies alternative.

Android manager is the best bet also, if you go to the TMO or some store that carries a nokia phone they are usually helpful about copying contacts from one format to another... as long as you have them on a sd card. You may need to bribe them with a chocolate chip cookie .....

THAT I can help with. Load it to your Windows Contacts and then export it to vCard and then put that on your Vibrant (if it connects but without Kies, I think you should at least be able to use it as a drive, or just remove the microSD, put that in the SD adapter and put that in your computer and then save it to there there) Import the file into your contacts after getting it on your Vibrant some how.

Kies - Vibrant
I use Kies version 1.5.3.1009_82 successfully to sync between my Vibrant and Outlook. There are other versions available, but the newer ones have not proven to work for me. That said, I've not yet used Kies 2.0, so anyone having experience with that version and US Galaxy phones, please comment.
Good luck,

Worked for me, thanks. Don't like how the PC Software imports all my contacts from GMAIL though...arghh
Anyone know if we can somehow set up POP3 with our ISP emails for Android? I don't think I'll be making the transition to public email anytime soon..

Set it so it only shows contacts with phone numbers in the contact book.

You can try a manual set up once you put the account name and password into Android's email client and then follow the ISP's instructions for normal mail set up, relatively.

I've never had a problem with Kies... I updated at one point and lost all ability to connect. I uninstalled and reinstalled my old version; luckily I held on to the .exe I've never attempted to update again. I really have no reason to. Maybe there are just some compatibility issues with the newer versions of Kies.
I'm currently running v1.5.1.10074_45
Is there even a way to post that setep file on here? Maybe I could send email it to somebody that can post it on here?
Just a thought. I'm not really sure what the problem is either. -j
Kies - Vibrant
I'll be happy to send a file of the Kies version that works for me for syncing between Vibrant and Outlook. I don't think we can post the attachment on this forum, so you'd need to contact me.
Good luck,

[Q] How to save/import contacts to SIM card?

Hi guys, I recently reinstalled windows from 7 to 7.5 but I lost all the contacts which I added onto my phone since I was on 7. There was no options that I saw to "save to sim card or save to phone" like most other phones out there so I dont know where they are saved.. I had a brain wave about the fact that the contacts were "linked" with my email account but there is only the emails saved. I am wondering if the numbers are saved somewhere or, each time I have to reinstall I will have to ask fro their numbers every time? Has anyone else had this happen?
Please let me know as I really want to update my rom and radio for better battery life!
Many thanks,
Marc
you cant save contacts to SIM card.. not compatible... phone automatically save contacts to your Live account (and you never loose contacts if you not loose your login data ) this is only if you login to Live account with your phone (and also live activation code entered)
you can access online to your account contact list via
http://mail.live.com/?rru=contacts
ahh yes, i see it now, so then I can export the whole list as a .csv file too. Now I sign in on my phone and can add it to the phone directory? Sorry if its nooby but I cant seem to access anything like that through the dedicated email app? Juat on internet explorer?
Marc
if you have mails in contacts list, you simply use mail app
and again, all is simple... you thinking too much simple: add Live account to phone and all is solved... all your contacts be saved and you not loose it and you use this contacts with phone or computer...
i give you this link http://mail.live.com/?rru=contacts to access it via computer (if you need to change contacts very easy if need it), not with WP7...
pda v8 has this function build-in

[Q] How to backup phone contacts without sdcard

Hi, got problem, phone is not reading any of sd cards anymore, got android hyperdroid, got phone repaired - replaced screen. Techs didnt touch the software, when i got the phone back, it wont recognize any sd card, if sd card reader in the phone wasnt working anymore (maybe they didnt plug the cable
I see to posibilities 1) try to task29 instal new rom. 2) Give the phone to techs and ask them to checkfixit. Since i need to restore to wm 6.5 i woul like to backup contacts from my phone. every backup software uses sd card for that. But in my case i cannot use sd card since it wont work. I have found 1 program
Wondershare MobileGo for Android it was looking promising, but.. it conected, an worked fine, but.. for some unknown reason it displayed only 2 of my 400+ contacts.. so i cannot use that.. Any one know any way to backup contacts to phones internal memory makink some file, and i could email it to pc ?

actualy you can do more with this software, you can export your contacts as vcf file, and then import and make those from phone to google account
