Erase all the app data in the phone - XPERIA X10 General

Since I have to sell out x10 of my wife, I would like to erase all the data (include the app data) in the phone.
I tried to use the "Factory Data Reset" in the phone setting. However, the data for the apps was still here.
Please advise how i can erase them thoroughly in the phone.
Thanks.

what about a reflash from SEUS? have you tried that?

yup a factory reset does not reset SD card content and apps. As recommended earlier, best bet would be to just use SEUS to reflash current firmware and that should sort you out.

The factory reset will wipe the phone to it's original condition, but won't delete anything of the SD, you have to do that yourself.

Factory rest as stated and format the sd card. That should delete the texts from your mistress
Joke.

Format your sd card

Formatting the SD card does not remove applications as most applications are installed on internal memory so that wont work.

Yeah...... but factory reset would.....
Format SD first using the menu to wipe SD card memory
Then factory reset phone. Thus wiping all memory.

Samsung Vibrant **COMPLETE ERASE**

Ok so I have my vibrant and I want completely erase every single application, folder I mean everything and start from scratch, what's the option in ODIN that erases every single folder in other words I want re-partition the internal SD card so I can work my way up to the ROM of my choice.
Thank you and I appreciate it in advance for the tip...
click repartition in ODIN
I checked repartition on my com and it didnt format my internal sd card. What does repartion actually do?

The internal and removable SD storage is treated separately from the phone's system storage. Those can be formatted from SETTINGS/SD CARD AND PHONE STORAGE from within the OS.
use eugene's froyo that doesn't brick -- click repartition
then go back to DL mode flash JFD
if not just delete all files in internal/external SD while mounted.
before flashing a new rom wipe data (factory reset / wipe cache / wipe dalvik / fix permission / flash new rom

There is your answer, format both, then ODIN.

what to delete in recovery

My wife just sold her acer tablet what do I need to format in recovery to make sure all our personal data and files are completely deleted?
Wipe data(factory reset)
Wipe cache
Wipe dalvik
And if u have a memory card installed make sure u delete evrything off of it

Even when I do that when I install a new rom photos and videos stay in the memory. I need all that gone as well. No external sd card is used only when I flash to a new Rom I use one

Unfortunately that won't get photos, and other media off the internal sdcard.
OP could try a factory data reset, located in privacy settings.
Just format your system and flash a stock rom, this ensure nothing is left on it . Than format your sd card if youre going to be including that when you sell it.
Hmmm, pictures of your wife? Could use that as a selling point, charge extra.
(j/k of course)

Does everything in SD Card stay safe while flashing a rom/data wipe?

Like is the internal sd card act as an external and everything in it will remain safe?

Yes,
A data wipe doesn't remove anything in the /sdcard directory, it will stay safe.
I have recntly installed CM10 and couldnt be happier!!!
**was this answer helpful? please click thanks**
Ok thanks for answering my question could not find anything on the net about it.

Yeap, it won't wipe anything but the data partition when you wipe data in recovery, you have to tell it to wipe the internal SD card or wipe everything including SD card to do any damage there, wiping data, cache dalvic cache, and system won't harm your SD card.
However, I think a person should make an exact copy of the internal SD card every week or two, by mounting as a disk drive and copying to the computer.
That way if your internal card gets wiped on accident or you have to do a factory reset or something, when its back up and running you can just copy your backup folder contents right back to it.

Interesting, does this also mean Nandroid ignores /sdcard contents too for imaging? I've held off making a second nandroid backup because I thought all the tv shows/movies I've put on storage would get imaged. It's good if it doesn't!

Not exactly true. Before I unlocked and rooted, I had about 10 GB of data on my SD card. After unlock however, I found that the SD card was wiped and I had to put everything back on it.
So, if you are not unlocked, back up first. Then while switching from ROM to ROM, your SD card contents should be safe. But it never hurts to back up every once in a while.

Flashing a ROM won't format the scard folder
Unlocking will...
Sorry if this sounds noob, but when you connect the nexus 7 to the PC, is the "internal storage" the internal sd card? I got a little bit confused when devs say place certain .zips into internal sd card, but i couldnt find the exact folder name when transferring files from PC to the nexus 7.

I unrooted my N7 before getting it replaced, flashed it back to stock, and it formatted the sdcard folder along with everything else

Unlocking factory resets.
Flashing a rom in recovery doesn't factory reset and implies that the OP is already UNLOCKED, Rooted and has installed recovery.

So, there is no way not to loose data on sd?
I know about backuping apps. But SD is also wiped(music, videos, caches, others)

Really? All 32 Gb's?
Seems that problem is solved. CWM recovery has 2 options: format /data and format /data, /data/media
Wipe command from firmware sends the first command(seems to be compability problem with CWM), so SD content is lost during wipe. We should not use it and make all wipes only through CWM recovry.
