Sorry just trying to stay in keeping with many of the posts here lately
Waits for smack on the wrists.
Whut?
released in where?
there are legitimate reasons for this kind of posts, like people that just got it from Spain, or any other countries...
but this one in particular is rather vague, it's useless if it's not specific.
please update the tittle accordingly

Obviously a lot of you know that I run another forum, but the point of my post is not to try to recruit people over there, but to ask the mods here or the people posting with important information like firmwares, backups, dumps and mods, to help.
I have been noticing a lot of information posted on the galaxy tablet thread that is spread out all over the place and is very unorganized. We need to make sure when we post something that we make sure it says VZW, TMO, SPRINT, AT&T or whatever!
I have separated these section on my forums to limit the possibility of people screwing their tablets up with the wrong files. Feel free to throw a copy of the important post you made here on my forums if you want to keep it documented in a section thats it was made for. Other than that I am just asking to specify it accordingly here. Maybe we can do something like (VZW) in the front of the title or something.
XDA does a great job on keeping the forums neat, but with something this broad we need to separated it.
... Thoughts???
PM me the site you mention.
I agree that some prefix tags would be good. With vbulletin its easy enough to create selectable prefixes from a drop down menu also, so not too much hassle to set-up either.

I totally agree i didn't see your thread yesterday so i started one trying to maby get some of the moderators to see about separating the hardware versions, if you could pm me your site as well that would be great

UK/US markup might be an idea too.
the majority of us here at xda are talking about the eu version - GT-P1000
your forum has only the us tabs in subforums... this will confuse europeans even more

Good point . Personally I'd be happy to see a sub-section for all the posts about Verison/AT&T/sprint and how to use the device as a phone etc. I'm sure it must be confusing for those with devices that are unlocked and have phone capability to wander through so many threads about things that are of no concern to them.
organization should be as follows:
GSM galaxy tab forum(atnt,tmo)
CDMA galaxy tab forum(sprint,verizon)
in each thread header your carrier should be listed by 3 letters eg.(att, spr, ver, tmo) then topic eg.( [theme],[rom],etc...)
this would keep things organized. if dev is to get anywhere on this device, organization is key...also many are noobs that flash roms for the wrong device; i feel that if its listed like this its your own fault if you cant read...As is i can see pps flashing roms for wrong device...wont happen to me but than again, im not your everyday android user..
i read post of someone noting that most users here have/are referring to euro version of tab. that is just selfish and inconsiderate...logic dictates that if the device was released 1st in europe than more in europe would have one...well it was released in U.S fairly recently and already there are many here posting using U.S models. this is xdA dev which DOES NOT specify EUROPEAN ONLY SAMSUNG GALAXY TAB DEVELOPMENT..many of us are AMERICAN. please be considersate and consider adding structure to your forum posts so we can get this tab to the top of the food chain where it deserves to rest as the undisputed champ @ this point in time....oranization people!!!
It should actually be at least two forum categories:
Galaxy Tab GT-P1000 which would cover most of the world and most of the devices sold (or flashed to P1000 standards).
Crippled North American Tabs. It can then have a "Even More Crippled North American Tabs" subforum for CDMA versions.
As mentioned above, many "CNAT" owners would migrate up to the P1000 forum after they've flashed to that standard, leaving the "EMCNAT" owners a nice quiet place to hang out, where they can never answer the question of "Can you hear me now?".
Note that I'm a CNAT owner.
Sorry for this question, but for some reason i cant post replies on X10 development sub-forum.
If any moderator can help me I will be thanked
You are a new member. You have to have at least 10 posts before posting in the development forum.

Important XDA Announcement Regarding New Users
Dear XDA Users,
Sorry for the long letter. Please read the whole thing if you're interested in some important upcoming changes to the site.
XDA is growing. There's really no way to avoid this. Smartphones are becoming ubiquitous. Android is soaring and Windows Phone is holding its own. By all measures, we have actually grown less than some of the other Smartphone-related sites out there. We're bigger just because we had a multi-year head start.
We are writing this because, like a lot of people, we constantly worry about the quality of posts on XDA. Some people suggest to us that quality has been deteriorating (or rather, the number of junk posts have been increasing), and honestly, maybe those people have a point. We want to make our developers feel at home. We want to make sure that good members of the community--those who offer to help and even those who respectfully ask for help--enjoy their time here. There is a cost of growth, and that cost is the crappy, rude posts that too often fill the forums.
No matter what we do, some people are going to complain, despite the best efforts of our fantastic moderator team. Some people want us to support all devices (actually, just the device they happen to have purchased yesterday); others want us to focus. Some people think the moderators have too much power; then they complain that certain forums are a mess. XDA has zero full-time employees. It's a massive challenge running this site, and we do the best we can.
Our stance is that we have a responsibility not to act as dictators. This is not our community... it is yours. We've debated shutting the site to new registrations. But really, what gives us the right to turn away the future generation of developers? We've debated adding fewer devices. But why should someone be turned from XDA just because they bought a Motorola phone instead of an HTC phone?
We've struggled for a long time thinking about how to solve the quality issues here. One way would be to constantly beg users to be nice to one another, always search before posting, etc, etc. We can try this, but realistically, this is the Internet; people act how they want to act.
So what's the plan? To make incremental changes that will hopefully impact XDA for the better. Our first change is this: only users with 10 posts (or more) will be allowed to post to any development-related forum. Users with 9 or fewer will be able to read, but not post. This change will happen within the next week. We hope it will dramatically cut down on the crap. It takes some small bit of effort to get to 10 posts on XDA. Hopefully those who make it to 10 are among the "better" users here. This will ONLY impact the development-related forums. All other forums will be open to everyone.
The good news: we might be a huge site, but we're a small team. If this change hurts XDA, we'll figure it out pretty quickly and revert back. If it helps, we'll work on other changes. My guess is that these small tweaks will make a big difference.
Thanks to everyone for reading. Happy 2011. And please, please, please be nice to one another =D
Thanks,
Admins and Mods

Yeah you cant reply because of that rule and remember unless your a dewveloper you shouldnt be starting a new thread there anyway
Hey Guys,
Just wanted to share a pretty heated thread over on the Captivate Forum.
Please post your comments and show your support!
We need to band together and stick it to the man!!!
Edit: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958214
Thanks in advance
Your link just takes me to the Captivate > General forum.
I assume you mean this thread:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=958214
I dont get what they are complaining for. They seem to have a ton of roms and devs, which is sure better than some update that is bloated.
If you notice, they're specifically banning the kinds of questions that we XDA users (as opposed to average users who don't know the difference between android 2.1 and 2.2) would like to ask: i.e. "How the hell does it take so long to deliver an update other manufacturers have pumped out in barely five months, even with their modifications".
I'm more inclined to believe that XDA is selling out than anything will actually end up being done...

If that is the case, I wonder why samsung is even asking for questions on xda forums. They should go to some forum filled with people saying "my phone awesome, whats android 2.2?".
Sorry Guys, wrong link in the OP Edited
I wanted to detail how much different the subsections are in xda, and how much you guys rock in this one.
Rant!-
I got jumped on in the mt4g section for posting a bug that was persisting through SEVERAL factory resets and rom flashes..for some reason i kept getting errors for processes for Samsung (on a htc..) And sign in failure for verizon (on a t mobile phone ). Even after wiping and re flashing different roms these problems persisted..so i detailed my attempt to find out why i got the bug, asked other users if they had experienced it (none had) and eventually traced the problem to the test rom i had installed. I brought this to the dev's attention by linking to my q&a thread on his dev thread only to be scolded that the issues were known, it was a test rom that i had no business flashing anyways, i should have read the thread as the issues were mentioned and known (which is why other users had never heard or experienced the issue??) And then the dev, on my account, pulled the link to the rom which angered other users whom then joined in chorus to say it was my own fault for not reading the bugs, when i said it wasn't in the bug list, was told "he doesn't have time to make a bug list for every test rom" (so where i was supposed to read that this bug existed i was never able to find, even after requesting to be linked to it).
The real icing on the cake was the fact that i spent 7 hours troubleshooting the bug, only a nandroid backup fixed it and thank god i had done a backup before installing it, and had searched extensively on Google in general and within xda forum for anyone having similar issue and no result, but was looked at as if i had wandered in, said "oh this looks cool"and flashed it and then proceeded to spam the dev thread with my problems.
Needless to say, I'll be selling this phone and not returning to that section as i am clearly not wanted there..rant over.
I want to say thanks to the devs in this section for being patient and helpful in the face of extreme ignorance, and to the users for understanding that not everyone on this site with less than 500 posts is a noob expecting to be spoon fed. I fear some of these communities are becoming to exclusive rather than inclusive. Transformer owners and developers as i have seen are very friendly and patient and I've gotten to like you all..
Even you goodintentions..
Thanks for showing that xda can be an inclusive community!
OK, flame on...
WRONG SECTION - USELESS POST! MODS PLEASE DELETE!!11!!ONE!1211
Ok, joking aside, I'm guessing maybe because tablet owners tend to be older then you're average high schooler we have a maturer crowd here?
I go by, if I can't help, then move on. No need to "flame" someone and get in an online battle...
And are you really going to get rid of your mt4g because of rude/inconsiderate people on the internet?
To join in on the rant.... READ READ READ READ READ..... so when are you supposed to post?
You would think that low post numbers mean more reading and less "got any updates?" or "Ya i agree". I personally only registered because i had a question that i couldn't find the answer to. Having been around forums for a while now (and i mean a long time) i have seen your situation at least once a year and sometimes it can be because the bug just totally pisses them off coz they cant fix it.
Totally agree.... the devs and gurus here are amazing. This truly is the place to be if you wanna hack and slash the device you have.
So thanks to all of you that make our devices so much more than we bought so that we can do whatever the hell we want with them.
Thanks again
I agree with OP. XDA has become a huge flame war where I feel that most people just post in threads to get their post count up. You have very few in here that will flame you for posting in the wrong section or repeating something that has already been posted(8 pages back).
Nature of the beast I guess. Next to head-fi.org this is one of the kindest sections I know.
It isn't my primary phone, and was intending to do that anyway, but the fact that the community is so immature and now hates me, there is no incentive to keep it
Oh well..on to the next device
EDIT: (One more thing I found funny, but no point in starting another thread)
While researching NVFlash and ubuntu/debian on the TF101 I came across this quote;
.. WARNING:: some/all TF101G (the 3G model) are expected to have a
different SBK. Until you know the SBK that corresponds to your
device, you *can not install Debian*.
To acquire an SBK, perform rubber-hose or black-bag cryptanalysis
on the associated ASUS staff. Once successful, please publish the
SBK widely, as (AFAIK) ASUS cannot revoke it from units that have
already rolled out.

LMFAO, I just read Applied Cryptography by Bruce Schneier..if any of you are unfamiliar with 'rubber hose' and 'black bag' cryptanalysis, google it
I agree so far from what I have seen in this fora. I have only had my tablet for about a week. But in deciding which tablet to buy, I read many, many different device forums to get a feel for just as many things. ROMs, Kernels, un/locked bootloaders, support and even accessories. I did the same thing when I bought a new phone. That is where I remember Baseballfanz from. The NS forums.
The thing with the post count is kind of strange. I have seen several people with below 50 posts, phrase an articulate question with nearly all the neccessary info. Whereas I have seen others with 500, 800, 1k posts with like you said, small blobs about nothing. Those just waste my time and I want to delete them, but I can't.
Similar to your situation, only my experience was the knight in shining armor. There was this person in the Vibrant forums who would just pounce on noobs about searching. I had just come from a Motorola forum that was by far one of the most helpful places I had ever been. That is actually where I learned about, well everything basically. Anyways, back to the Vibrant. I had gotten tired of seeing this person post the same replies all the time and flaming noobs. I thrashed him really hard about it and brought to his attention why they were asking these things (ever been in panic mode with your $500-$700 phone?) and sometimes the search button brings up more info that you need. You can easily lose track of why you were searching in the first place. He actually posted a thread apologizing and stating that he would be more helpful in the future (it has since been deleted).
Best advice I can give to someone is read, read and read but also give all the information that you can when asking the question. YOU may not think it is relevant, but I might.
By not informing us many people are bricking their phone and causing frustration and indirectly encouraging us to route our phones.
How come (I admit i could be wrong on this so dont have a go at me )but spelled seem to update worldwide on one or two days
Surely they employ eneugh staff to thoroughly test the software and than they could ask for beta testers. But this way is rediculus specially in view that pics has been out for months. Your thoughts
Sent from my GT-N7000 using XDA
if they give dates and theres a delay then people only have more aummunition to complain
with regards to people bricking phones, then thats their decision nothing to do with them samsung decide to release new software
