I purchased a T-Mobile HD2 which was initially locked then the original owner Unlocked it.
I am planning to upgrade to the latest 3.14 Rom and do not know if it will re lock the phone or not.
Please excuse my noonbness but it is my first Locked --> unlocked phone that I get.
In summery if a locked phone gets unlocked, will it revert revert back to the locked status??
no, it wont.

Thanks a bunch, really appreciate your reply.
sim lock info is kept deep under other area of phone's logic and nothing to do with any original or custom roms.

ok.. I got the IMEI unlocker and ran it, and it went through the whole process and appears sucessful, how do I check and see if my phone is unlocked?
Just put in a SIM from another network provider - that should proof it! If your phone is unlocked it should work, if not it will ask you to enter the unlock code!
That applies with the CID unlocker I used from IMEI check? or is that just SIM unlock?
Well, you did not clearify what UNLOCK you were reffering to! The CID unloack you won't know unless you actually try to reflash your device with a non-provider ROM ...
Thanks for the help though, I flashed my device succesfully and am a proud WM6 user now.

Glad to hear you are happy!
noob Q, would flashing and installing a custom ROM affect the ability to SIM Unlock the phone?! I have flashed my phone and installed a custom ROM and unable to SIM unlock the phone with the unlcok code given to me by tmobile/htc. I only have 1 chance left and I really hate to have to start over again in setting things up. Does anybody know if flashing the phone affect it at all?! Thank you!
anybody? anybody?!
sim unlock and rom flashing are completely unconnected. Nothing you do to the rom will affect the sim lock, and unlocking the sim lock wont unlock the rom.
great! thank you! i was just afraid that it hindered my ability to unlock the phone since I'm going out of the country in a few days. at least I just have to deal with tmobile. Thank you again!
Ever find SIM subsidy unlock solution

.... Yeah, what YLSQ meant is that if you unlocked with a network unlock code then upgrading ROMs "SHOULDN'T" re-lock your handset. But I hope you've kept a copy of that code incase its ever needed again. It should always be valid as it is IMEI specific.
The only issue I could see possibly arising is that some ROM's are "PERFECT SPL's". What this basically means is that the networks got wise and shut the door on being able to edit the internal software stuff. I dont know what affect installing a perfect SPL onto an unlocked handset would have though. If worst came to worst, you could always downgrade your ROM again and unlock again.
If I was you, I would stay away from the official updates anyway. I highly recomend putting MCR3.2 on for now until an offical 2.1 ROM has been released and tweaked by some of the genius devs on here or Modaco.
If for any reason (?!?) you would prefer a stock ROM, I would use one of the ROMs from Modaco's Stock ROMs + radios in update.zip format for GSM Hero. However, it does take abit more work to get these flashed onto your phone, in comparison to just going to HTCs site and running an exe application.
Check out BTDAG's guide linked in my signature.
I hope your still awake after taking all that in!!!!
Hi. I am using an unlocked T-Mobile HTC HD2. I purchased it unlocked so I don't have the unlock code. Is there a way to retrieve it from the phone? I thought I might be needing it since there's a new ROM update for T-Mobile HTC HD2.
As far as i know, once this phone is unlocked, it will always be unlocked. Its not like the iphone where every time you get a new update, you have to re-jailbreak and unlock the phone.

Thanks. I'll do a ROM update later today and I hope you're right or else I'll have to pay for an unlock code again. BTW, are there instances when we might need to re-enter the unlock code?

Once the phone is SIM unlocked it will not get relocked when flashing a stock rom.
An unlocked phone is nothing illegal (since you can get the code from the carrier). I really don't see the reason to have the code.. If you are sending the phone in for repair, that should not be an issue unless you have a cooked ROM installed.
When I bought my HTC HD 2 on win6.5 was free network (tested) .. and now I put Android 4.0.4 and is locked in Vodafone .. I do not understand what happened .. please help me..
congratulations, you have the very first hd2 EVER to get re-locked! Has it ever been repaired? a new mainboard would mean it is a different phone that could already be locked?

never had problems .. never been repaired .no new mainboard...nothing...i just changed ROMs..now i have 4.0.4
As samsamuel said, you'd be the first one with an HD2 network relocked, never heard of something similar
flash back to wm6.5 & review lock status & unlock as required.
If not new when you got it possible it was unlocked while not on WM as they then do not remain unlocked & recent android flashing has reactivated the lock ... just a theory as never experienced this.
Other option is it always was locked.

i flashed back wm 6.5 and it's locked..only vodafone work..
Do you have unlock code entry option when use another sim !
If so buy a code & try unlocking or if you have good local phone shop get them unlock via cable & software.

there is no need to laugh...it is hard to beliefve that i could re-unlock my phone...but it is true...and I tried many ways to unlocked it again..but with no result....i flashed winm 6.5 and nothing..android 2.2..and nothing..android 4.0.4 and nothing
unfortunately, everyone here is going to believe you have overlooked something. As far as we are all aware, they can't be relocked, unless perhaps with some clever direct cable connection trickery, but there has certainly never been any mention of it.
Guess you are gonna just have to shell out for a code online.
Just out of interest, does the imei on the sticker under the battery match teh imei when you call it up on screen via the phone?
