Ive had the evo since the day it came out and since been waiting to get a 4g signal, does anyone have an update on how there pursuing this........
yes, cleveland, columbus and cinci are all in the works. no official schedule yet - NYC, LA and SF are the big openings that are being focused on.
thanks man they need to hurry this up
4G is live in North Olmsted. Strongest signal is in the area of the mall.
There's a sensorly map viewer app that will show you where people are seeing 4G. It's actually in a pretty large area around Cleveland already.
Can confirm I get 4g from cleveland to westlake going 90 west!!!! Averaging 8 to 10 down. Getting it at the office in westlake as well At the Atrium getting very good building penetration

Couldn't believe it the other day, I had heard 4G was coming to Los Angeles in late 2010. So... I turned on 4G the other day outside my office and... BING 4G SOLID signal. To put it mildly, my jaw dropped.
I have been driving around with 4G on and everywhere I go in Hollywood has had a 4G signal. Thought it was just them testing, but I have been able to get 4G every time I came to work.
North of Hollywood the signal drops to 3G.
Sweet! Where abouts in Hollywood are you? Near the 101?
Great to hear! I will be on a plane in the morning..
I'm not kidding, I am flying out there for E3, but NICE. ;O

I was in Westwood near UCLA, got 4G signal as well.
I guess parts of LA have 4G now. But San Gabriel Valley and OC still do not have 4G yet.
Yea 4g has been active in testing phase in L.A. since mid may
Yesterdy, I was in a sprint store in Alhambra to try the evo, it doesn't have 4g signal.
You can usually get a 4G signal near any Best Buy which is broadcasting 4G from what I believe. Right there on the 405 and the 10 you can get it, which I suspect is coming from the Best Buy on Pico. Driving from south on the 405 I could get it around Santa Monica and west on 10, it fades off just after Bundy.
C'mon Sprint... bring it to the I.E.

Yeah, my friend was at the Beverly Center this weekend and he said he was able to get very good 4G service out there. I'm just waiting for it to show in the San Gabriel Valley!!

That is not true. There was a rumor that some Radio Shacks were using 4G repeaters, but there are no Best Buy stores doing this.

You may be right... I used an app called Cell Mapper to measures signal strength and maps it. It also changed color as it went from 3G to 4G. I noticed that going south on the 405 from the valley, I started to pick up a 4G signal around the Getty. It went all the way down to the 10 and down past Centinla. So it seems that West LA is covered.
Then last night I drove via downtown and Hollywood. I got a Signal as I got close to downtown on the 10, and had a signal (with a few tips back to 3G) on the 101 all the way up to hollywood until I hit barum.
So 4G is really starting to show up in some big areas in LA. Now I wish that the East Valley and Venice would get it...

Interesting, do you know if it's been turned off recently? I live one mile east, next to the Grove, and had great 4G service from the launch day (3-5 Mbs in phone, 6-8(!) tethered to a laptop via USB). But since a couple weeks ago, all I get now is the 4G availability notification, but the data connection is not at 4G speeds (status bar icon never appears). This happened right around the June 28th OTA update, which included the radio update, which makes me wonder if we were not supposed to be getting 4G coverage yet in the first place (while ClearWire is still deploying).
I got 4G at the Convention Center during E3 too, but haven't checked that area recently.

same except in my house
route 7 runs past my street
on my street i dont have any but on route 7 i have signal its weird
In Clarendon and Courthouse neighborhoods of Arlington I get about 2mbps...
Not particularly spectacular, but the high speeds and faster phone makes it way faster than my iPhone 3G.
Virginia has 4G before Colorado? What is wrong with this picture.............
I live in herndon and I get 1 to2 bars averaging 2+ mbps not spectacular but faster then ATT.

The signal strength is really just your strength to the tower, not your connection to the internet, just FYI I have had higher speeds with 1-2 bars than with a full signal. Anyway there are some spots in Houston, TX near where I work that I can get ~8-10Mbps down on, but I usually average about half that. Here are some pics, also btw a download test is a bit more accurate than those "speed tests" they can lie to you sometimes.

Yup. Northern VA, Richmond, Hampton Roads >>>> Colorado . We don't have any 4G here in Hampton Roads that I know of yet (no Evo til Monday), but there is a new Clearwire antenna/tower near my girlfriends house. I hope there are many more of those to come and soon.
I want them to put one in in Springfield. That's where my office is and 4G would be awesome!

There's definitely 4G at Franconia Springfield Metro Station in Virginia...and at the Telegraph Road Gate to Fort Belvoir...

Apparently there are two antennas live in downtown Denver and others aren't live but have been spotted (including on the Sprint call center in the tech center) so its coming here too very shortly.

That's good to hear. I wish Sprint would give us a real roadmap of their 4G rollout. There's no point in hiding it when people know the towers are there and are getting 4G signals.

I have been able to get WiMAX in Manassas on 234 near the Barnes and Noble. Also, just up the road in Centreville at 66 & 28. Good thing too because in both or those areas the 3G service is terrible. This is one main reason holding me back from upgrading to the Evo LTE or the Galaxy SIII since I will no longer have 4G.
I finally got 4G To function as of today 7/31/10 YAY
the speed is not up to where it needs to be yet but its faster than 3G, but it is still the first day of testing.
any one else in Orlando Notice? Im in College Park area..
Yes, got 2 bars in my apartment. Over near Millenia mall. Thanks for the heads up.
Here is the bigger thread with all the Orlando users.

I've been able to get 4G for a week now when coming home on Interstate 4, from Altamonte to downtown. In my highrise apartment downtown, I am getting 4G right now. Averaging between 3 and 4 Mbps, so not too bad.
I live in Campbell and been getting at least 1 bar of 4G consistently. Not a good signal but at least I'm getting something. Getting full 4G coverage in Cupertino and Santa Clara. My friend's a store manager at Sprint and told me they're launching 4G officially in October. Hope this is a good news for some of you. Thought I should share.

There's no way they're launching in San Francisco by next month. There's no signal anywhere even for testing. Maybe the san jose market will launch next month but san francisco will definitely take a while to launch.
Because, I'm pretty sure, all 4G launches are preceded by at least some sort of test signals... Which we have nothing in SF.

Sorry to hear that man. Hopefully they will. It would be silly for Sprint if they don't launch it in frisco considering the huge market.

Yeah, I work a lot in Palo Alto, and the whole downtown has the Clear Innovation network live, and there is some decent speeds. The other day while going on 101 South near Capitol Expwy exit in San Jose, I got over 7mbps in my car, while driving. That was epic.

wow that's awesome! i live a mile away from that area, i'm going to have to test it out. where i work near 101 and lawrence i can get 3.8-4.5 depending on if i have 1 or 2 bars.
I have managed to get 8Mbps in downtown San Jose. Covers the area past the Pavillion and up to the airport. Downtown has the best speeds though.
Just last weekend i got ~9Mbps near Walmart, Mountain View. Haven't got any 4G signal in palo alto area.

i'm probably being too optimistic, but i hope there's a signal inside the arena! sharks season coming up soon, so i'll be in there before long.
I used speedtest and got 9.5mbps, daaayyymm! It probably will use more battery leaving it on 4g though. I wonder how good the 4g coverage is here in the southern CA area.
Oh my god I just moved from Pasadena to San Diego for college just a couple weeks ago. I asked the guys at the Sprint store when 4g was rolling out down here and they said not until Jan/Feb next year. fml
maybe not

Maybe they are just testing the system. It is back to 3g now=/. Hopefully it will stay up soon.
Ontario (Inland Empire), is picking up a weak 4G signal. I had it pick up a signal by my home (by 10 & 15 fwy), near Ontario Mills Mall, I was able to do a speedtest before the 4G signal was lost, it did 6Mbps download, 2Mbps upload, not bad for a weak signal with 1 bar... Seems like the IE is going to get 4G pretty soon!!!

Well of course! You don't think Sprint would pass up the Rose Parade and Rose Bowl do you? Don't worry, Verizon is rolling out LTE to cities with football teams. LA doesn't have one so that's another thing Detroit can be proud of.

It uses more battery, but the latest radio and kernel updates are better about battery usage.
