Is it possible to somehow disable USB charging while phone is attached to PC via USB for debugging or mass storage? On WM there is an option to disable USB charging but here is impossible (as I know). It's good because if battery is on half, there will not be additional charging for a small amount, and that means longer life for battery.
Thanx

Hello everyone,
Though I didn't "checked" the box - "When device is turned on, do not charge the battery when connected to PC", my X1 still DOES NOT charge the battery!
So I am restricted to use only the power supply to charge my device.
Does anyone face the same problem ot is there any advice? Thanks.
Settings > Power
See if this option is checked

As I have mentioned, I DID NOT CHECK the box.
Anyone encountering the same problem or any advice. Thanks.
A search on these forums might help.
If the battery is low then a PC USB may not have enough grunt to kick the recharge into life. Use the wall charger instead.
The PC USB ought to be enough to trickle charge a mostly charge battery though.
I had a problem like this that only the wall charger could deal with, and I've read of several other similar incidents. You may be suffering the same thing.
try it on another computer or with ac powered usb hub, some usb ports don't have enough power to allow data transfer (activesync) and charge at the same time.
Hi,
My HP 614c will not charge through the USB port.
It runs fine on the battery, but will not start without the battery installed (running on USB power only).
There are no LEDs on when the power is connected.
It will sync with the PC via the USB.
Is there an internal fuse protecting the charging circuit that can be replaced?
Any other ideas?
Thanks...
It's normal that the device won't start without a battery, even when connected to USB.
To the left of the SIM card, there's a small switch which probably detects if a battery is inserted. Maybe it's a simple as pressing this switch.
Btw, you can disable USB charging in Windows Mobile. Check the power settings.
With USB Charging disabled, it will still charge when turned off...
(Which it isn't doing...)
But Thanks.
I have experienced it before..
hard reset fixed it..
Nope, a hard reset didn't fix it...
This is definately a hardware problem...
I have had no success using an external battery charging my 10.1. I have the New Trent duo that allow charging at .5mA and 1A. I was hoping that amperage would register with the tablet to allow charging -- unfortunately this is not the case. Is there any way to make this tablet charge via external USB charging or is it fully locked out like the computer usb?
I guess what I am getting at is what is the limit before this thing will charge like the wall mount

it kinda does, but kinda doesnt charge via usb. it will do it when the tab is locked or off at a very small level but it is enough to keep it alive and even give it some more life when not in use
I clarified my question a bit... I understand there is a trickle charge to some degree if the unit is off but with a full amp pushing through from the battery I would have thought the tab would register...
Hi all,
all computers stopped recognizing my N4 as an usb device or android debugging device. No notifications pop up on the phone when connected too.
I tried 2 different PCs and 4 cables.
Fiddling with the phone, I discovered that it shows AC charging (in ampere app) instead of USB charging, and it's pulling 700+ mah, which I think it's a bit too high for an usb charge.
Is it an hardware problem? What can I try?
Forgot to add that I'm running stock 5.1.1, not rooted.
Attaching some screenshots
Is it normal that if I use the phone while charging thru USB the battery slowly discharges, as if provided power is not enough?
