Are there any android apps that allow the phone to become a simple display for various information? I mean something similar in function to the Logitech G15/19 keyboards.

Hi, not sure whether this is the right forum, but is there an app available that can make the phone be recognised as a USB keyboard. Did a quick market search but not all apps are visible to me at the moment.
Cheers
Not that I know of, although there are apps that let you use your phone as a wireless keyboard such as remotedroid.
Hi Devs/guys,
Today i have just purchased myself the official Iconia A500 Docking station and micro-HDMI cable to test this on my 1080 monior and led tv.
Initial impressions are good however i've noticed that the quality when output the HDMI is very grainey and not as crisp as i had hoped!
Anyways, whilst playing around with the dock through the TV, the remote controls seem ok to get around with easy navigation but i've had to create lots of applications shortcuts as i cannot natively access the 'apps' option with the remote. The play and pause options on the remote also are not application specific etc which is a pain.
A few ideas for this which came to mind are as follows;
1. Is it possible to fine tune or change the HDMI output settings through an application or by modifying any system files on the A500 with root? Features such as having additional hardware profiles which allow you to kill the screen on the A500 and promote all rendering power to the HDMI out so as not to reduce framerates would be nice.
2. Is it possible to create a small application with allows you intercept commands from the remote control and then apply the relevant button command to a mapped profile for a specific app or game?
Did i mention the word 'profile' enough on this?
Just my initial impressions but feel free to comment if you have the dock and remote and encountered other issue or have other ideas!

Anyone? Lol
I must be making all the boring requests
Hi ddelamareuk,
No, it's a interesting topic , but not so many users have dock and hdmi device
I think request 2 is possible. Acer make lirc related things in kernel, and lirc will make a corresponding keyinput event when it received a ir event.
I will take a research in it, even though I don't have dock station
Thanks
Hey Roggin!
I have more tech than common sense lol
Would be good then in that case if we could create a small app to trap incoming ir commands then map them to a game or app profile for whatever is active on screen!
Is it lazy that i want to do everything with remote?
Thanks for the interest!!
ive seen various threads with apps that have a dpad, etc to remote control... but is there anything where ican see the screen. itd be used to manually change songs/albums on the nook from my phone while sitting in a separate room.
i'm fairly sure that there are no apps for this (at least yet). I haven't found any remote access apps that would allow you to do anything like what you want to do.
I have heard that linux can be installed to the nook color, and you might be able to use a remote desktop app to control it as if it were a computer, but i doubt that would work.
Aww Shucks
I had an idea while browsing the wear forums on my PC with my phone in my pocket. I got a text message and it popped up on my computer using Pushbullet like normal. However I thought about how I have always wished there was a way to reply to text messages and other types of notifications on my laptop. The actionable notifications added in JellyBean kind of added this but there is still no way to reply to a message from your computer using your keyboard. The big thing stopping this from being a reality is that all app developers would have to support some kind of standard that would tell the phone what to do with the rely you are sending it from your computer.
Now with Android Wear, developers can add these kinds of reply actions to their apps so that they can be controlled by voice on the Android Wear device. My question for those of you more familiar with the Wear API is could an app on the PC interface with your phone over Bluetooth and basically pretend to be an Android Wear device but with its keyboard as input instead of using your voice on the Wear device? This would make it much quicker to reply to messages and maybe even some of the other Wear functionality could be implemented.
So what do you think? Could it be possible or is it more work than it is worth? Or is it not possible to tell from the current state of the Wear API? If it is possible to do and no one else decides they want to work on it I might even try, the novice programmer I am, to play around with it and see if I can get something to work.

i think AndroidWear supposed not use hardware things!
Like what happened on Google Glass and smart-watches.
and About AndroidWear, it s preview and so limited. thr s nothing to install app on AndroidWear Devices
it s just for notifications But it s possible to add action to use keyboard on android device & maybe other device like pc
if i remember correctly u can use AirdDroid to push notification to PC interface through browser and then reply.
:good:
hey guys, trying to find a way to input text with tools i already have. is there any apps/tweaks i can install on my nexus player that will allow me to input text (and possible use mouse/touch) with my android phone, tablet, or windows pc? entering text is a bit cumbersome with the included remote.
Android TV Remote will allow you to input text and move around with your phone:
https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.google.android.tv.remote&hl=en
For apps not yet optimized or designed for Android TV (such as Chrome, etc) you'll still need a usb otg cable and a keyboard/mouse or combo. There may be more options once root is available on the NP.
