Want to stop importing contacts from sim when flashing roms. - Nexus One General

Flashed Mircomod desire super hybrid last night... all seems good but every time I flash a new rom the phone wants to import contacts from both my sim card and my google account. I only want the ones from google as the ones that are stored on my sim card are out of order and pretty old.
Is there a way to prevent the importing of sim contacts?

Delete them from your SIM card...

Yeah, it's a pain but you have to delete your SIM card so the Contact app in the sense rom won't detect the redundant contacts. If you ever need to back up your contacts to SIM again... try Contact2SIM but the app doesn't work well on Froyo though there's a workaround to that.
Anyway you don't really need anything to be saved on your SIM card unless you use it with other phones.

Alight, thanks for the help, got them deleted from the sim.

Outlook contacts to SIM

Does anyone know of an easy way to copy ALL Contacts on the Wiz (8125 Moloski ROM) to my SIM? I've tried a bunch of different utils with no success, followed quite a few peoples previous posts with no luck either.
If anyone knows of a good program or utility that does this easily I would really appreciate. Preferably something free.
Thanks,

Hmmm, copy all contacts to sim card? Are you sure you want to? In the phone your contacts have all the information you can have in outlook. On the sim card you are limited to name and number. So for example if you have a contact with 3 phone numbers, birthday, and email address copied to the sim card you would lose everything but the phone numbers and have 3 entries for that contact, 1 for each number.
Oh I definitely want to. I will still have all my contacts saved in outlook (with all the extended info), but I do want a copy on the sim card to put in my CU500 for use on nights & weekends type of thing.
Anyone? This is really killing me here :-/

Contacts From Phone to SIM Card

is there an easy way to sync the contacts back to the SIM card? i often switch phones and when i get new numbers, they don't transfer to the sim card, instead they stay on the phone and get synced to my gmail account. is there something that is out there that can sync them neatly to the sim card? or can anyone develop an app that can do so?
a sim card reader will do the job
they run from $ 5 USD to 150
this is a nice one: http://cgi.ebay.com/USB-Card-Reader...5|66:2|65:12|39:1|240:1318|301:1|293:1|294:50
only 9 dlls
juangil...he's looking for a way to transfer FROM android TO SIM. not a way to read the SIM.
um.... bump?

It would make more sense to have an app that would send your contacts to the sim, but there are parsing issues (I'm guessing. Google/Android has only one name field, most other formats, generally sim cards, Outlook WinMo, Symbian) have first and last names, and a bunch of other info Android is missing.)
Hope that helps.

Contacts 2 SIM missing ?

hi im running a 2.2 rom Froyd right now on my hero and a friend of mine with a Nexus one 2.2 was stressing that he couldnt copy his contacts onto his SIM card, so i checked my hero also cas i could have sworn i saw that option on my 2.1 sense rom before but on 2.2 it appears missing.
So is there any hacks/apps that enable contacts 2 Sim card as this would be very useful
thanks guys
There might be an app for this?
I've never liked sim contacts on android, and always discourage them.

if im using froyd i import my sim contacts onto the phone - i was asking how to import them back to the sim card as i have new contacts that i dont like to loose when either reflashing or changing phone
a nokia 3310 offers this feature LOL (No i dont want to use a 3310) lol
No, I 100% understand what you want to do.
Use the market to search for "contacts to sim", and you'll see apps (many free) like Copy to SIM Card, Contact2SIM etc.
Give one of them a go
thanks Pulser , Contact2SIM worked like a gem
Or just sync your phone contacts to your Google account so you can always access them on any device or computer.

True, and that's what I normally recommend, but the OP was after a way to then put the SIM into his other phone and use it.
So in that case, Contacts to SIM is the best way

[Q] Trade out my SIM card - transferring info

Currently using the card that came with my tmo V330 and also rode in a V195 before going into this Vibrant. Couldn't access the web with the supplied card, so easiest solution was to use the old one. I know now that tmo needs info on any new card before granting web access, so that prob is solved - just needing proper method of transferring my contacts, etc info to the new card.
Directions will be appreciated!
I'm pretty sure t mobile can do it for you for free

If I were you, I'd make sure I had a Google account sync'd with my phone first of all. Then, put the old (the one with contacts on it) SIM card on the Vibrant, copy all the contacts to the phone (Contacts -> Settings -> More -> SIM Management -> SIM to Phone), then to go "Import/Export" in Contacts -> Settings -> More. From here, click on Export to SD Card to copy your phone contacts (which used to be your SIM contacts) to a file. Then go back to Import/Export and click on Import from SD Card and choose to import it to your Google account. Now all your contacts are saved in your Google account. From here, take your old SIM out and put your new SIM in and rejoice. Just remember to save new contacts straight to your Google account and not to the phone, and you never have to worry about losing contacts or transferring them via a piece of hardware ever again. Also, should you break/brick/otherwise damage your phone, you can always just pull all your contacts down from Google in a matter of seconds. Far more convenient.
Thanks to both who offered solutions
Opiomorph - you Sir, are the reason the term "Guru" was created... At the point where I was asked, "Are you sure you want to export your contacts?", I wussed and had to crack and consume a cold one. Rally.. Eventually my trembling finger hit the accept button, and I watched my contacts shoot to t the Google account.
Wrote down the numbers from the new SIM and installed card to phone. Booted up and called tmo to verify new card. Re-established login with Google.
Perfect! Everything is working and my contacts now show copy to Google account plus to new SIM.
Your concise instructions have made my day!!
To others who follow, first mention of settings refers to that while in the"Contacts"mode.
Thanks for pointing that out, I edited my post to reflect that. Glad I could help but...did you really have to drink so early in the morning? It is the weekend, I suppose. :3
Yes, but it was 5 o'clock somewhere, (smiles)
