[Q] UMA working on Android - HD2 Android Q&A, Help & Troubleshooting and Genera

Do you guys know if there is some way that we can get UMA working on our HD2?
And is it true that the new Glacier is going to support it? And if so - are we going to get UMA working if we use the Glacier rom for HD2?
Oh so many questions, but I really need to have it working, because T-mobiles coverage is just horrible in my house, and my business is suffering from sudden call drops and whatnot.
And if you guys know any other way or app that can work as UMA or something simillar - that would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks in advance

Anyone?
Sent from my HD2 using XDA App

The first example of a TMOUS UMA Android phone hasn't even been released yet. All anyone has to work with is a leaked rom from an unknown point in the development cycle, that has been floating around for like 2 days.
Some of the people here work miracles, but asking them to have a working UMA client for a completely unsupported device running an OS it was never designed to run, based on a pre-release version of a rom from an unreleased phone less than 48 hours after any info on it at all existed...
Man, cut em some slack.
It will come later, I'm fairly certain.

No rush here, was just asking if theres something available or if its going to support I love my android on HD2 and will NEVER change my phone for any other, and thats only thanks to all the devs here in XDA A big Thank you for everyone.

[Q] Is anybody working on the WiFi Calling app from the mytouch4g rom?

Hey guys, I was just wondering if anyone is working on making that app work for HD2 android.
I was checking around and I saw that it works fine on the nexus and on the Vibrant.. And since its pretty much one of the most important apps for me - I was wondering if anyone is gonna port it to HD2. It would help a lot of people that are on T-mobile and do not have good signal at home..
Thank you much!
Anyone that can help?
Seems to be a "No".
Looks like you're the first volunteer
No, its not going to work on the HD2, you need hardware for Wifi Calling to work otherwise T-Mobile would have implemented this feature in all of their phones.

Nexus one users are enjoying it right now....
I'm confident that one of the devs will figure it out eventually for us.
The app "works" just fine on the HD2, it just cannot authenticate with T-Mo servers... It gets stuck on enabling. Same thing was happening to N1 users until the Kernel and lib hacks from yesterday

Yeah I hope so too.. It works just fine on the nexus and on the vibrant..
And its a badass app...
The problem is that probably nobody will work on it, since most of the devs are from outside the US and this app is pretty much for US T-Mobile users..

[Q] Will Moto Xoom be flashable

Does anyone know if the Moto xoom will be flashable to boost mobile or metro or cricket like how the samsung tab is
Great question. I don't know the answer but the question is can any Verizon 3G work on Sprint/Metro(same company). You don't want Cricket. My quick look makes me think the odd's aren't great. But I think the EVO was fully ported to MetroPCS.. so maybe.
I don't think a verizon phone can work on sprint and vice versa. If metro works on sprints networks then a sprint phone could be flashed to work on it. It has to do with the wireless technology in the device. Plus, even if it was the same, I doubt sprint would activate it.
Sent from my EVO using XDA App
I doubt it honestly
My research showed that in some markets Metro has a program in place for reprogramming Sprint and Verizon phones for use on their network. However, I suspect they won't do it for a product like the XOOM.
I hope that someone figures it out. I am partially hopeful, I just bought a 11,000mAh battery for my EVO so that I can tether for hours at a time. Testing it right now with everything turned on, streaming tversity video to the phone for hours and barely drained the external 30%.
I'm honestly fairly ignorant on the matter so if I sound stupid give me a pass..
But..
If the hardware could do it, isn't it 'just' a matter of which 'radio firmware' is being used? (with regards to porting to a different carrier)
Motorola Xoom
Hey everyone, hows it going. First I would like to thank everyone here for all your hard work on these new android devices and helping people like me figure out problems to how to get these devices working.
I just got back from the store where I picked up the new motorola xoom. I've noticed that its on verizons service, but would like to know if anyone can point me to the proper direction as to how I can get this device working on crickets network.
I have a droid x, droid 3 all working on cricket data, mms and all working. next task is to get this xoom working on crickets data... any idea's as to where I can start off...
I'm not finding any informaiton about this device at all for flashing. I found someone who claims that they can root there xoom, ... its a start, but not really wanting to do that without consulting the professionals first.
please note that this is not my first go around with custom roms or rooted gingerbread roms. also please note that I'm aware this rom is the hunnycomb rom.
any help is much appreciated .... sorry about the spelling and thanks for all your help in advanced.

If by the new Xoom you mean the XYboard, it is not yet rootable. The original Xoom is rootable and has a number of awesome roms and overclocking kernels. Take a look around the forum and you will see many wonderful things. I'm sorry that I can't help you with getting your Xoom to run on the cricket network...

So seeing as how I got this tablet rooted.... lets see if I can get it working with data, .... any help is appreciated

[Q] Gingerbread Bugs

I've looked everywhere but I cant seem to find a complete answer.
I rely heavily on my phone for work and since I'm a broke college student I cant afford the occasional alarm not going off or the other party not hearing me during a call. With that said, what are the common bugs with the gingerbread roms?(ex. cyanogen7,royal ginger,ud,..ect)
I am dying to root & rom my phone to gingerbread but I would also like to keep my job.
Thanks for the replies.
I suggest doing some reading so you know what you are getting into.

The simple answer is that CM7 is stable and everything works. The complex answer is that everyone's hardware is different and some people report random issues and can't seem to get it to operate the way they want. If you rely on your phone that much you either need to try a custom rom when you have a few days off or just accept that you are better off sticking with stock.

Cyanogen 7, Royalginger, and RoyalMIUI are 3 solid gingerbread roms that havent let me down in all that you stated. Try them out, they are all fast and stable.
Thanks for the advice guys. I just cant wait. Every smartphone ive owned has been rooted lol. Its a curse! My first smart phone was the htc diamond, then diamond 2, moto cliq, hd2, and now the mt4g.
This weekend I will definitely try rotting and romming my mt4g.

[Q] Hd2 or My touch 4g

My wife's switching to t mobile and she wants my hd2. I was thinking about giving it to her and hgetting a my touch 4g. But I'm having a hard time deciding and wanted more opinions on what to pick. Can you give me which one you would choose and why? Which is actually the better device?
I would suggest that you keep the HD2 and invest in the MyTouch for your wife. The HD2 tends to be more complicated. I'm not sure if she's at all a tech geek, but if she's not, give her the MT.
Are you using the HD2 stock?

I'm running android nand. She really wants the hd2 but I want the better phone. Whichever is best Is the one I'm aimed at getting
honestly i know 2 people that have mytouch 4g and they botch have encounter the exact same problems....they will get txt messages in random...their phone will repetitively send the same sms.....i dunno i had the choice of getting it but i went to a hd7 and i actually traded it the very same week for a hd2 and let e tell u i have android nand and i love it over anyother phone i have ever gotten in the past....they say yeah but think about having 4g this n that well...firstly were in at i barely get 3g lol...and also who the heck am i going to video chat with lol i rarely use my mins lol guess if u love options of a phone that can do just about anything then keep the hd2
Why not get a sensation? Then you would feel better about giving up the HD2.
ive had both i had 3 hd2's and i own a mt4g now.... and honestly i miss my hd2 bigger screen has the end call hardware button .... i dunno tough call i mean if youd actually utilize the ff camera might be worth it and the mt4g has a rom called royal ginger with working streaming netflix and the mt4g can hold more apps if your into having a ton of apps on your phone. that being said if you dont use a ton of apps , wont use ff camera , dont have netflix id get another hd2 not to mention the mt4g my more difficult to root hd2 was effortless . hope this helps

i never had the random txt issue or the repetitive issue on either phones... just sayin maybe ur phones were effed up.
I would say stick with the hd2. I have plenty of family that has the mt4g and like cobrien said they also encounter those issues. I had pongsters hyperdroid on my hd2 for the past 3 months and not once has it given me an issue. I've pushed 3 days with little use and about a 15 hours of gaming and streaming netflix, this is better then most native android devices. If your looking to upgrade then go with the mytouch but i think for being an older phone the hd2 is still just as good as newer android devices.
Go for the sensation dude.

[Q] Buying the Vibe

Buying my vibrant on Monday. Am not new to flashing however its going to be with new hardware all around. Pretty sure the root process will be a breeze. I'm familiar with Mac but this will be the first time using it for modding so any tips for that would be appreciated. Know about TT backup got it covered. Need to know will CM7 due in the ROM department for little tweaks like led notifications. Know I can check the changlog but come on guys were all pals right. Any noob/news flashes I might need to know other than that much appreciated.

First off make sure your getting a vibrant 3g, not a 4g. The 4g has minimal development support and the roms will not work vice versa.
You said your familiar with a Mac? Doesn't that mean you own one? If so then no ODIN for you, which is the software you need to put your phone back to stock... So go pick up a PC.... Jeez people and Macs these days... jankkkkk.
Further, CM7 is pretty good, it's stable for me and a whole slew of people..
Here is my link on a guide on how to put CM7 on the vibrant, assuming you know how to at least root and use an android phone minimally, doing everything shouldn't take you more than 30 minutes max.
