Help! My restore failed! - Vibrant General

I flashed my Samsung Vibrant earlier today with Bionix 1.9.1, after doing a backup using ROM Manager and Clockwork Recovery.
Loved Bionix, but there were some things I needed to go back to my old image for, so I went to do a restore using clockwork and midway through the restoration process it got hung up at a file or process called 'tsprsp' and it did not proceed beyond that. So I reluctantly did a soft reboot and now the phone boots up into the Android system Recovery <2e> each time I power it on, and I'm not sure what I need to do in order to get the the AOS back up and running (
Can anyone help me understand what I've done and what the best way is to recover from it?
Sincerely,
freaked out vibrant owner

Did you flash the one with the default kernel?

No, I flashed using the Voodoo kernel.

Did you install bionix with the voodoo lag fix, and if so did you disable it before flashing anything/restoring. There is some information on fixing your phone in the bionic dev thread if that's the case.

I didn't realize I needed to disable voodoo lag fix before restoring to my old image. Can you point me to the Bionix thread you speak of?

You must always disable voodoo that is a must but go back to the bionix rom thread and u will see what to do if u didnt disable voodoo

That is the official Bionix Dev thread. Scroll down the first post to
"Did You Flash Something Before Disabling Voodoo? 2 Fixes to Help You Out."
Hope that works for you.

Thanks for the help guys.
Hopefully I don't have to do a complete reload of the stock firmware, but I think that is what it might come down to.

Argh! I'm having no luck in getting my vibrant unstuck
I tried the fix listed on the bionix thread but when I run Odin with the PIT and PDA files, as far as it gets is
<ID:0/006> Added!!
<ID:0/006> Odin v.3 engine (ID:6)..
<ID:0/006> File analysis..
I'm in Download mode and have followed the directions as closely as possible. Am I SOL or is there any hope for my phone at this point?

The com text background turned green after getting into download mode? And definitely download mode, not recovery mode?
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App

Yeah, it was definitely download mode and the com txt did turn green. I think there was a communication issue between my PC and the phone. After some further troubleshooting, I got odin to finally push the pda all the way through, and have since gotten my vibrant booted up on the 2.1 AOS. Thank god. I was about to cry.
Thanks again. I'll be sure not to make such noob mistakes with my baby again.

Which ROM was on you phone before you flashed? Did you flash the ROM only, or did you flash the Modem also? Did you wipe data, cache, and dalvik before you flashed the ROM?
Well I'm completely new to the rooting thing and I di the one click root then the leaked froyo and everything works great except gps and I didn't clear anything.

Did you use Odin to flash the DK17 Modem before flashing the ROM. If not, you need to start over.
While you were in ClockworkMod Recovery, you should have wiped your data, your cache, and cleared the dalvik cache before flashing the ROM.

There's a funny trick with that 4.2 DJ29 leak. For some people, if we don't follow a certain procedure when flashing it, we lose GPS altogether.
If you want to use that rom follow these instructions:
Boot into clockworkmod and wipe everything to go back to stock.
Flash DI18 update from this thread using clockworkmod
Now boot the phone and get a gps lock. You may have to reboot again to get it going.
Reboot into clockwork and flash the dj29 2.2 rom you have without wiping
Boot into DJ29 and confirm gps works
Then you can go back and wipe the cache if you want, but I personally didn't run into issues not doing that.
If you go to the newer DK05 or DK17 builds, then you have to use odin to flash the modem which gets you better gps. After flashing the modem with odin, you reboot into recovery, wipe, and flash rom. This is actually easier than all the hoops you have to jump through for the dj29 builds, but some people have a hard time with odin.
Where do I get odin and what is odin? Is it kinda like clockwork?

Odin is a program used for flashing firmware to Samsung smartphones.
You should probably read the Wiki at the top of the dev section. It has all the terms and instructions you should be familiar with before messing with any of this stuff.

No problem.
ok so the directions for the odin stock are:
Odin Stock Flashing
Odin : http://www.sdx-downloads.com/devs/noobnl/Odin3+v1.61andepic.pit.zip
1. Open odin
2. Put your phone in download mode (Shut it off, wait for lights to all go out, then hold 1 on the keyboard while powering up)
3. connect phone (you should see odin put a Com4 or something like that in the first box. The actual number is NOT important what is important is something popped up there when you connected your device, meaning ODIN can see it)
4. Select the victory_8G_100528.pit on the right in the pit section
5. In the PDA Section you place either the full Stock tar (SPH-D700-xxx-8Gb-REL.tar around 255mb) for a full wipe and full return to stock
6. Hit start. It will do its thing. Doesn't take long you can see the progress bar. If it sits on File Analysis for longer than 30 seconds its not going to happen. See the troubleshoot section below.
Device should reboot and should be done.
You will have to re root / install busy box.
now were do i get the item highlited in green?
Do the steps on the link in my signature. It's what I did and my GPS works great. Good luck.

I just wanna back this up, I had no luck with getting GPS on DJ29, DK05 or DK17... went through the steps and 2 days later still gets GPS lock
GPS in DK17 works perfectly for me. I think the cache bug is gone now.
EDIT: Just opened GPS Status and I'm getting 9 out of 10 satellites while INDOORS.
Ok thanks ill give it a go. I just factory reset and going to re root and flash.

Ok, so before, I went to install the Simple Galaxy rom, and i forgot to disable VooDoo .. When I boot my phone, its tied together between the stock Samsung Galaxy X screen and the Auxura Rom (which i am came from + with the honeybread port)... I know im only soft bricked, so at least i know i can SOMEHOW fix this.. I can get into download mode and recovery, but when i got to recovery and choose install ZIP from Sd card, it tells me nothing is there. I tried factory reseting it, but no use. When i try to use Odin, I get <OSM> All threads completed. (succeed 0 / failed 0).... Please guys, Im in BIG need of help..
Edit- I got Odin to work, Im going to see what happens next
Go to the vibrant toolbox sticky in the development section. I screwed up my phone for the first time ever yesterday with the same ROM and the program got me back to stock in 10 minutes and I've never even looked at Odin in my life. It's really user friendly. If you can get into download mode, this app will get you back to stock and rooted again. The longest part is waiting for it to download. Good luck, you'll be fine.

Trying to revert to stock issue

I've reverted to stock countless times with Odin but this time I'm having weird issue....
I'm reverting from Trigger rom with Overstock kernel (I think), Odin says its successful but after rebooting I still see the overstock logo and I heard the "voodoo" sound saying "convert system partition" and then shortly "system not available"
Its stuck at overstock screen afterwards, tried to re-flash again with odin and same issue.
Can anyone help??

T959UVJFD
Odin 1.3
Been using those files for ages w/o problem before
I haven;t been in the scenes for a while and was going to go to stock to try ICS
What I want you to do is take the bat out put it back in power and rocker. Go in CWM.. the red one and wipe data, cache, andvanced and wipe delk and reflash trigger or the kernel.. I would reflash trigger

cant go to recovery, I think my phone is fully bricked now...
I tried odin 1.7 instead of 1.3 and now after odin finished flashing and rebooting phone just goes off and I cant turn it on at all. The only mode that works is download mode
well false alarm. used AIO Vibrant toolbox and was able to revert back to stock, boy I've never been so happy to hear T-mobile's ultra annoying chime

How to Fix Almost Any Bricked Vibrant

I recently bircked my vibrant with a bad kernel flash, and it wouldn't get past the Vibrant Samsung screen. I fixed it, so I decided to post how I did it here, to hopefully help someone. I am not sure if this works on newer Vibrants. If you have one of the first batch then you should be fine.
Step 1
You need to get ODIN and the stock Samsung/T-Mo 2.2 rom. I am not allowed to post outside links, and the file is too big for an attachment, so you will have to search for it, try googling "Download Samsung Vibrant Stock Rom"
Download all the files and extract them somewhere where you can find them.
Step 2
Once you have those downloaded, start up ODIN, for pda, select the pda (.tar) file you downloaded. For the pit file (make sure you extract it, it should be .pit not .rar or .zip) select the pit file you downloaded.
Step 3
Now, pull the battery, and re-insert it. Make sure your phone is turned off, and hold down VOL+ and VOL-, then plug in the USB cable to your computer, then phone. (DO NOT press the power button on the phone) Wait a second, and the download screen should now show up. Simply press start on ODIN and wait for your phone to get the the unlock screen. All done!
If this worked, please reply and tell me!

How does one ODIN any other ROM?
My vibrant is bricked with ICS passion v10.6.
What do I need to do to ODIN it to the same ROM?
I'd love to avoid rebuilding from stock....

I am not sure of any ROMs that still require odin, as CWM is a lot easier to use. I would reccomend going back to stock, rooting the phone, then installing CyanogenMod. If you're fast enough, you can get it done and have a working phone in about an hour.
Well the only mode I can get on the bricked phone is download mode with the jig.
After that ODIN works. I've never been able to get ADB to play well on this computer.
There is an ODIN version of stock 2.2 I may try if I don't find something newer. Thanks! I did find a guide on how to make an ODIN ROM but it is a bit late for me to do it...

Trigger 3.2. Overstock v.2.4.1
Thanks, it worked.
Thanks, my brick is now a Vibrant again. After seeing nothing but a boot loop for a week Eclair looks wonderful!!!
Heimdall One-Click was my only hope and remedy for several times, it's capable of installing the right drivers (which not always were SGH-t959!!!) in Download mode, even when Od in wouldn't sede my phone.

Soft Bricked wit Rom Toolbox

My wife was trying to change her font with the Rom Toolbox and it froze then boot looped. Has this happened to anyone else? Its a stock froyo with overstock and cwr. I would not go into recovery and odin would not recognize it. I finally got into recovery while trying to get into download mode for odin. In the excitement I re-flashed cm7 because it was still on her sd card. Her phone works now but I will try to get odin to work on it tomorrow. She really needs the GPS to work and cm7 just doesn't do it for her. Plus the whole thing about 911 being iffy. It's 1am here and I'm tired.
Hey man just flash a 2.2 rom like project v or bionix 1.3.1 or something.
Vibrant + ICS
It wont let me go from cm7 to bionix. i tried it.

Flash the JFD using odin.
Sent from my SGH-T959 using XDA App
Craven. Once you get it back to non-CM7, use this method to change your fonts. Much easier and you have total control, unlike Fontchanger which kicks me into a bootloop every single time I used it.
Trying Odin again. It doesnt seem to be working.
Odin can not see the phone. I'm downloading a different version now.
If you are not getting into download mode, try this: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1133987
i finally found a combination of cord and plug in that works. Everthing is good now and my wife is happily running deranged 9. Thanks everyone for the support. I hope you found my siries of unfortunate events as funny as i did.
