Guys,
Can you all clarify this. I am new to Tmobile.. and the service in my area is not the greatest (esp. in my house). It seems that while in my house several people called me and due to the poor signal, I did not even get the missed calls. Isn't it supposed to let me know I have missed calls once I am in a better reception area?
I have never had that problem with AT&T ..

Hi everyone,
I'm on a fringe coverage area with AT&T. I have a pretty new sim card, but I noticed that I get a lot of dropped calls while on 3G (or H). I usually get 1-2 bars on 3G. Shouldn't the call I'm on, hand-off to Edge if the signal is not strong enough on 3G? Right now, its dropping the call altogether on 3G with no fallback to Edge. Is the Xperia's radio to blame for this?
Thanks!
i dont know who is to blame but if your on the fringe as you say, you should just manually set your device to use edge/gsm.
it will save on your battery and have less dropped calls. otherwise, you phone will keep bouncing between signals.
i also have the same problem and i am curious of the answer i dont want to lose 3g all together but i have 1 bar in my house and drop calls also.
Has anyone on AT&T tried to flash their xperia with the Raphael radio? Is the signal alot better?
not just exactly the same problem here, but similar (according to the network). at home, i have no 3g coverage and manage to get edge at best, problem is intermitantly my voice stops, even though i can here the other caller perfectly, the phone still keeps between 2-3 bars of signal, and i can even stay on the call over 30 seconds after it happens. the other caller can just hear like a dead noise. the network has me testing the 3g thing for the next couple of days though.
PS. this also happened with a K850i and a K800i
I work at a University that has so many areas where there is no reception. However, it only seems to effect Telus and Bell Mobility phones (who share the same towers in Canada). Coworkers who are on Rogers and Fido wireless phones have strong strength everywhere.
Is the anything that can be done by Telus to install signal boosters to give reception to its users? Since there are probably thousands of people who experience this problem here, should they install whatever is needed to fix this. Could be a safety issue if someone needs to call 911?
I don't think it would be a safety issue.
Here in the UK, I had a similar phone with no signal when I was with Orange. Despite having no phone signal, I could still make calls to the emergency services. I presume there is an agreement in place that any emergency calls will just use any signal it will get
Above post is true.
You don't even need a SIM card to make an emergency call.
Sprint LS980
Looks like most of my issues have been solved so far with this phone except for the fact that sometimes when a call comes in (or sometimes even out) the hand off between the 4G network to the 3G network is either very slow or doesn't take place; as in I get missed calls with a full signal or the phone gives up and makes me roam even though I have a full Sprint signal.
Anyone else have this issue or could offer any advice on a fix for this?
Are you aware of this?

Unfortunately I have read that article before. It does look like all of the towers in my area were upgraded last month and the service bulletin confirms this. Wasn't sure if anyone else was experiencing a hand-off issue; doesn't seem to be there when I set the phone to 3g only...
From the beginning, I experience this issue and it is really a dealbreaker. A phone's main and most important feature is to make and receive calls... I constantly miss a ton of calls almost every 3/5 calls are missed. To the people who call me it says that I am outside network coverage or the call cannot be completed at the moment. At the same time I look at the coverage on the phone and it displays FULL coverage + 4G mobile data running without interruptions. When I try to call or return the missed call I don't have any problems at all. I live in Eastern Europe, the bands seem OK, they are according to the EU standards. Does anyone else have the same problem or does anyone know how to fix it? The OTA updates don't help for now, nor changing the SIM slot.
I just wanted to see if anyone else has experienced this or knew of a fix. I have the t modeled S5 with AT&t network. My signal is constantly just going from full bars to dropping to none. Even when calling people I get a distorted sound (the signal going out) then the voice clears back up (gained signal strength). It's very frustrating and I was just curious as if anyone had any clue what's up with it.
Thanks
