Samsung Epic now 99$ including activation today only! - Epic 4G General

I don't even live in a country that supports this phone, but I don't think you guys who do should miss this deal: http://www.androidpolice.com/2010/10/18/hot-samsung-epic-4g-now-also-99-99-on-amazon-com/
What we’re looking at today is a brand new Epic 4G for $99.99 on a new 2-year contract, with free 2-day shipping and no tax. Amazon is also temporarily waiving the $36 activation fee until the end of today. Unfortunately, existing customers are out of luck, as Amazon doesn’t yet offer contract extensions for Sprint devices.

Awsome deal...

Well i was able to get the vibrant for Tmobile for 64.99 with 2 year commitment with $20 unlimited data loyalty plan, No upgrade/ activation fee, and free 3 day shipping and intant rebate. I was offered same deal on all 5 of my lines but will only take it up on one since i want to save the other upgrades for future phone releases. Only bad part is i wont get the vibrant until tuesday .
Im thinking of picking up one at tmobile tomorrow for retail price which is$439 to play with until mine comes in and then just return it, but i dont think tmobile will like that much.
Just really happy to get such a great deal and looking foward to android coming from the iphone platform

He has 5 lines. Phone companies always treat people based on how much they pay a month. The more you pay on your phone bill the more likely you are to get deals and fee's waived.
Also I see this confusion a LOT. $439 vs $499. It seems the $439 price is only for current customers, or people well into their contract. The $499 is for everyone else.

Ive been with tmo for 8 years and have 5 lines so im sure that helped. Basicly all my lines are out of contract and had previous considered going to ATT for new iphone. Tmobile offered free upgrades on all lines for any phone they had at that time with all fees waived. But they didnt have the vibrant out yet, so they told me to call once it was out to see what deal i could have. I called once it became availabe and they offered to waived all fees, bump up shipping and and additional $100 credit to regular upgrade. They ended up giving me additional $135 because i mentioned my upgrade only said 164.99, which was different from their $199, so they just added $35 to match the price.
Tmobile takes care of their customers! I have no issues being on a commitment with them.
Nice ^^^

I paid $499.99
i paid 499.99 also, and i've been with t-mobile for 9 years with 4 phones.
got one offered for $429+taxes (~$460) as my early upgrade price (i bought my mt3g aug last year).
moved on to the retentions folks who brought it down to $249 + taxes, which is only $50 more than a brand new contract, i was sold on that. had them make the note on my account and picked it up in-store locally for the same price! =)
loving the phone so far, big upgrade from the mytouch3g.
can't wait to get CM6 on this baby.
btw, im having market issues currently - "download failed" error. was initially able to download a couple apps, but none now despite several reboots.

Wirefly, no activation fee, 8/23 only.

For the rest of the day you get no activation fee ($36) when you buy the Epic 4G.
They only charge $239 for the phone to begin with. Given that I live in CA my savings were:
Tax: $28
Activation Fee: $36
Discount: $10
Total: $74 saved
Also I am not sure if I will get it but entering code WIREFLYBLUE22 should give you a free Bluetooth headset. People are reporting a 83% success rate on the site I found the code listed.

anybody know if you can use wirefly to UPGRADE your phone?

what should I expect on the release date if I get my phone from sprint? 349.00 then 100.00 MIR? I'm trying to conclude if the wirefly way is a smarter way to go.

Yup, thats going to be your out the door price. You could always try Best Buy or radio Shack to get the instant rebate at the counter
Tax with sprint or any other store at that will charge tax off of the base price not the discounted price I believe, thats over 40 bucks in CA.
So look for no taxes, if you are worried about that.

I bit the bullet with Wirefly. My advice for anyone else considering this option is make sure you understand exactly what they are doing with your Sprint account. Somehow the call center ppl put the wrong plan after I had told them many many times how I wasn't looking to change the plans on my account at all.
Has anyone else had good experiences with this company? They seem like a lot of frustration
Wirefly is sketch. They have this bull**** 6 month rule when you cancel your new contract within 6 months with any of the carriers, then they bill you $300 for "equipment recovery fee". So, for Verizon, I got hit with $375 from Verizon for ETF and $300 from Wirefly for a ****ing Droid 1 that I bought for $189. Do the math. They ****ing tried to rape me. AND, on top of that, they charged $300 to the same debit card I used to do the original transaction about EIGHT MONTHS after I originally did business with Wirefly. They did that illegally without my permission. They had paper billed me for it and I was telling myself "no way they're getting $300 when the phone was only worth $449".. then a $300 charge from "Simplexity" shows up on my bank statement.
Hate Wirefly. And, their "discounts" aren't even ****ing discounts. $10 off a phone? Give me a break.
I got the phone from Wirefly. I knew going into it the 6 month rule and I do not plan on making any changes or cancelling in that time. Also they have a 30 day satisfaction guarantee, so I can return in 30 days without issue.
I know they have a bad rep, but here is why I got it from them anyway.
No tax in California
Amazon only does new contracts
A free bluetooth headset(see OP)
Ships on the 31st
No rebate to deal with, $239.99 was exactly what they charged.

I'm not sure how long it will take, they had a overnight, 2 day, and free shipping options. I went with free. I did notice Amazon says "Ships in 7-8 days" so they are not even shipping on the 31st.
Good luck everyone who went this route. I chickened out and decided to not go with wirefly. I'm glad I didn't, they are sketch and I don't like dealing with online chats and outsourced call centers for "customer support"
Pretty nice feature.
Great News! We received authorization to begin shipping the new Samsung Epic for all approved orders beginning tomorrow, August 31. Please continue to check your email and our online Customer Support site for updated information.
You just saved $40!

Samsung Epic 4G $199.99 on Amazon.com

EDIT: The phone seems to be back in stock online. Still says ships in 8-9 days.
Amazon.com just got the EPIC 4G on their site for preorders, it's $199.99 with new contract, or $499.99 without any service. Best deals I've seen anywhere. If these don't sell out, I bet it'll hit $150 by september 1st. This is just great if you are a new customer on Sprint.

Kinda blows if you're an existing one though...
Does sprint allow you to cancel and then sign up as a new contract? Because of the pro-rating of their cancellation fees, it would be significantly cheaper to get the discounted Amazon phone (even better if it follows the other Galaxy S phone pricing) than it would be to buy the unsubsidized Epic.

You mean cancel your current sprint plan, then take the amazon.com epic deal with a brand new contract? I think you can do that. However like you said, there is the prorated early termination fee, and you also need to consider that you would of course lose your current phone number. You could of course also switch to a prepaid account with some other carrier for a week or so though, and just port your number over a lot, but that could be a bit risky/flawed.
If you wanted to buy a cheap amazon epic 4g then cancel right after though, you'd pay a ton, amazon.com would hit you with early cancel charges, as would sprint.
If you cancel your contract, you have to wait 90 days before you can qualify for new customer pricing on devices.

Yes, I meant the first part. Cancel my sprint contract (and risk losing the #), then rejoin sprint on the cheaper (possibly much cheaper) amazon phone deal. Switching phone numbers isnt always a bad thing.
$199 wow! Way to stick it to Wirefly and their cheapo $10 off price.
I'm currently on the $30 SERO plan, and converting to either a 5-line EPRP, or a 5-line corporate discount plan. I guess there's no way in hell I can do either one thru Amazon.

Aha, thanks for the definitive answer. Could a family member qualify immediately? We don't share a last name.
Oh man Amazon is annoying, is there any way to see the final review order page without submitting the credit check info? I'd assume they don't actually perform the credit check until you submit the order, but I'd rather not take that risk, especially just to see a check-out price! I just want to see if they charge taxes and activation.

It has to go under someone else's social security number. That's all.
It says "currently unavailable" now...
this should be the sprint price for it, no mail in rebate.
I'm kinda regretting reserving through Radioshack now!
$250 + taxes comes out to around $270. I'm assuming Amazon will provide Prime shipping and next day shipping being around $20 bucks.
Can't refund the $50 deposit i put for the pre-order through Radioshack either. :|

From what I was told at the Sprint store, its a total of $240 early termination, or $10 a month, for each of the 24 months of the 2 year contract.
The longer you have the contract, the lower the termination fee is.
Does Amazon charge an activation fee of $36 per line? Also has anyone purchased from them before? Just wondering if they would actually ship the phone on 8/31 and if the return policy is any good? Thanks in advance.

How much did your G2 cost you?

Wassup guys,
Im very interested in buying a G2, ive been using my HD2 for 3 months now, and have been running android on it. But ive decided its time for a new phone. I am very interested in buying the G2 how much did it cost you out the door? Right now i have $180 so im trying to come up with the rest but im just wondering how much more is it going to cost me. Im due for an upgrade on t-mobile so im updating my line i live in california.
Thanks,
Cali
Really depend on the plan you have. I have even more plus plan with $295 credit available and its gonna cost me $257 and some change when I get it on Wednesday and heard that radio shack has it for 149 with 2year contract, so best to go there for you since you will be upgrading on a contract. I don't have a contract

it cost me a hug and a thank you. got it as a present
a kidney and half of a liver... also a quarter of my pay check... also twice of what my wife allows me to spend in a month ><
It cost me $100 in birthday money, $140 for about 2 hours of computer sidework and $7 out of my own pocket.
I live outside the US, so I could only depend on some conscious importers or I will have to take the pricier Desire Z
Suppose the no contract full price in the States is 500, that's reasonable enough for me, just hope the shipping plus markup won 't be extorting

A few over on the Slickdeals forums managed to get it for that price by going through and threatening to cancel first.
I got mine for $149 through tmobile. I called the retention dept over at tmobile and told them i got a flyer stating $100 off any phone upgrade. They did some digging and then told me it can only be applied to existing phones. The rep then said they could offer me a better deal and that's how the $149 came about. And payments are spread over 4 months.

I got it for that price. It was 176 down and 3 or 4 monthly payments of $40. Then a $50 rebate on top of that.
And that's cuz I upgraded to the HD2 in March when it launched, BOGO.
Did the EIP, but it'll cost me 552 total.
Around 500, which is what I'll be paying extra over the course of two years if I switched from the Even More Plus plan to the Even More (if I could even do that, but don't tell me I can't because that'll shatter my dream) as it would $20 extra per month for 2 years ($480).
I paid half my fortune (broke college student, heh). All my savings are gone, time to save up for another 2 years.
It's cool, T-Mobile announced HSPA+ in San Jose today
Not entirely true. Depends on how you do it. If you upgrade, yes, its 199. But with my situation, I just added a new line to my account, and it was 149.00

EVO 3D June 24th confirmed email from Sprint $199

Just got the email. Check your inbox. June 24th $199.
I'm going to hold off on the E3D for a better spec'd phone. I can see myself getting dizzy trying to watch a 3D movie (even though I know you can turn it off).
Hopefully they come out with another Android in time for the holidays. It's good to see that it's coming out soon though.

200 with or without contract?
$199 with 2 year contract. Sprint Premier members get to order 3 days early on the 21st. I'm going to hold off pending the Motorola Photon 4G and Samsung Within announcements.
I should probably know this and I'm sorry for not having knowledge of this, but this is my first upgrade with Sprint. I called and got both lines bumped up for the $150 discount. So when they come out the 24th, for $199, all I will have to pay is $50 each for them right? Both lines on my contract (mine and wifeys). And I've already put $50 towards them with the pre order from best buy.

Sweet, so if I'm signing a new contract for both, which I am, I shouldn't have to pay any more than the $50 I've paid for pre order. (With the exception of tax ofcourse)

No, you get that $150 off the retail price ($500) when you sign a two year contract. So you'll be paying $300 dollars for each phone. Yes, Sprint has the worst upgrading policy ever.

I was the first one on the list at my radioshack. The Guy said I can turn in my old touch pro2 and still get the hundred off.

I'm going to hold off on the E3D for a better spec'd phone. I can see myself getting dizzy trying to watch a 3D movie (even though I know you can turn it off).
Hopefully they come out with another Android in time for the holidays. It's good to see that it's coming out soon though.

http://www.goodandevo.net/2011/06/radio-shack-explains-how-to-turn-3d-onoff-on-htc-evo-3d.html
As stated on the Shack's site, 2D and 3D content are automatically displayed. When a 3D-supporting video, app, or game is opened, the screen will automatically display it in 3D. When 3D content is not detected, it will "fall back" to 2D. I know some people were thinking that they'd be able to control when they wanted to see their content in 3D, but this isn't how it works.
The EVO 3D will always display 3D content in 3D and 2D content in 2D. So if your eyes are going crazy from some insane 3D action, it seems you're either going to have to deal with it or just not view the content anymore.

Probably get it around August if I do decide to go with the 3D.
Only tech device I've ever bought on release date was the Palm Pre...and after a nice replacement as it was dead out of box, never again.

You forgot the instant saving plus rebates!
The $150 includes new customer price.

Excellent. I just emailed Sprint about my upgrade being taken away and they emailed me back in about an hour telling me that I am once again eligible for a full upgrade.
I'll definitely be getting this phone!
Some bad info being spread here. If you have the $150 upgrade, you are eligible to New Customer pricing at Sprint. Meaning if the phone is $500 and with rebates etc a new Customer gets it for $200, so do you!
Now notice I said "Sprint" New Customer pricing. Because I know Amazon, etc will sell a new line of service "aka" New Customer for cheaper than an upgrade. But whatever the advertised Sprint price is, that's what you pay.
So you are gonna pay $200 for each phone, minus your $50 deposit and ad in whatever taxes and activation fees they charge you. that's what it boils down to. Sometimes you can call in or get on chat and have activation fees removed. But they are getting stricter on not doing this.

If I got to pay any more than $200 per phone to get it I'm going to hold off. I'm fine with the O.G. Evo. This is the first phone I've ever had that I actually feel I can keep for the whole 2 year contract. Guess I'll be using those BB gift cards for my boy some PS3 games

Thanks KB. I'm just going to wait till they come out and go up there and see how much they say. This ish is confusing, lol. Like I said, if I have to pay more than $200 then I'll stick with the Evo. This has been an awesome phone for me.
