What is PPP? i see it mentioned alot?

PPP = Point-to-Point protocol
To OP
You should list what build, kernel you are using
Anyway, check your APN, edit/change if needed.

im runingchuckyrom with 2.12 radio....btw
....also "*#*#4636#*#*" i believe this menu allows for ppp to run bug smooth...u have to change the setting to gsm ...with the right apn settings ppp should run bug free....
....also CAN SOMEONE WHO IS RUNNING A NEW CM6 BUILD POST THEIR TMOBILE APN ***ONLY IF THEY HAVE FULLY FUNCTION INTERNET AND MMS**** THANK U )
Go to APN setting for T-Mobile.
Just delete the name, password and server so it should say "not set "then save. Your internet should be working. That's how I did it.
Sent from my HTC HD2 using XDA App
i modified to GSM only and my 3g/H+ stopped working, no PPP..switched back to gsm/cdma and now its working again.

HOWTO: RMNET to PPP for everyone

like me before, a lot of people have problems with ppp internet. some report a non-working appstore or hard freezes. by testing the new evo kernel from 20th of september i found a method to change from rmnet to ppp without any issues. i tested it ONLY with matc 1.6b, but it could or should work with all builds where you can choose between rmnet and ppp. i don't know if the kernel itself fixed my problems, but i would like to share my experience:
- at first you should install an android build with the possibility to choose either rmnet or ppp (both versions of rootfs.image are needed)
- get the above mentioned kernel from netripper:
http://forum.xda-developers.com/attachment.php?attachmentid=404734&d=1284997896
1. setup android until you reach the (sense) ui (after account setups)
2. replace the kernel files with a program as droidexplorer
3. reboot
4. the netripper kernel is only working with ppp android builds. because of that, your internet connection should NOT work now - that's normal
5. connect your hd2 again with computer and replace your rmnet rootfs.image with the ppp rootfs.image file from your build
6. reboot again. if everything has worked, all freezes caused by g-sensor and ppp connection should be gone! i tested it with dolphin browser, app store, synchronization, speed test and some other apps.
and now i can see the real difference between rmnet and ppp:
my upload increased from 60kbit to 1700kbit, my download from 2600kbit to 3100kbit.
important: try these steps on your own risk. you should make a backup of your system first!
So all you did was use the new kernel from netripper? Why do you need the rmnet rootfs in the first place?
yes, at the end i guess the new kernel made ppp working for me. maybe a fresh install of android directly with new kernel will also work, but to answer your question:
i needed the rootfs.image of rmnet because i had hard freezes on the first screen (where i have to choose my language) if i'm running ppp image from the beginning. changing it afterwars to ppp + new kernel did it for me!
as i mentioned before, maybe a new android build with new kernel implemented would have fixed this for me, too. but i'm happy as it is now, since everything is working flawless.
ppp is a a bit snappy for me, take quite a while for me to reconnect when returning from standby mode.
Actually, PPP works on any kernel that is PPP ready and has nothing to do with the kernel necessarily as you can use anyone of them. The init.rc, ppp_wifi_router.sh, and a few other PPP specific files that make the change. So, if you're happy with the kernel you're using and it's PPP ready, then exclude the zimage and modules from your change over and you'll be fine.

[Q] No Internet on HD2

Ok im running Froyo-Stone Sense v3.2 and I havn't had any problems with it till now,it's been running perfect otherwise,Now it doesn't want to connect to the internet for some reason.It says connection failed and I have tried toggling airplane mode,toggling wifi,etc.My APN settings are correct.Just not sure why all of a sudden it won't work.Any Ideas?Aside from that I am extremely satisfied with this build and I use it daily.
Hi
i had the same issue with the internet in France & I changed the build.prop (under /system) to change to the right DNS addresses.
At the end of this file, i changed to 62.201.129.99 all of the ip adresses
I don't if it'll work for you but this is the only good fix which works 100%
Regards,
Christophe P.
im not sure how to do what your talkin about.lol

Cannot find solution to connect to hidden 802.1x network :(

Hi!
I Cannot find solution to connect to company's hidden Wifi 802.1x network
I tried almost anything to make it work .... but without success
I have had various wpa_supplicant bin files.
I have edited 100x wpa_supplicant.conf file.
I was reading forums with "SOLVED" solutions ... for other phones ... but cannot find solution to work on Huawei IDEOS X5 U8800.
I also have tried it with various ROMs: MIUI 1.8.x and 1.9.x, VOID, B135, B136,B160, cm7-100911, Oxygen ...
But every time with no success ...
Hints:
a) All other colleagues connect without problem (they have HTCs, Samsung Galaxy S I,II, iPhones 3,4 ...) while my friend and i cannot connect
b) I connect to my home Wifi (WPA/PSK) without a problem!
Anyone have similar problem?
BTW: MY wpa_supplicant.conf file looks like:
ctrl_interface=wlan0
update_config=1
network={
ssid="mySSID"
scan_ssid=1
key_mgmt=IEEE8021X
group=WEP104 WEP40
auth_alg=OPEN SHARED
eap=PEAP
identity="[email protected]"
password="zzzzzz"
phase2="auth=MSCHAPV2"
}

Have had sporadic issues myself, and found that setting ap_scan=2 in /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf was helpful but not flawless. I reverted back to a CWM of MIUI 1.8.19 which I recalled seemed to connect without issues. On reviewing the wpa_supplicant.conf files in system and data, I noticed that the ctrl_interface was different.
ctrl_interface=DIR=/data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant GROUP=system
rather than ctrl_interface=wlan0
I haven't yet tried moving back to the latest version of MIUI to test these changes, but will do so when I get the time.
Modify below files and ensure permissions dont change
Both /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
and /system/etc/wifi/wpa_supplicant.conf
also create a new folder wpa_supplicant in /data/misc/wifi/
mkdir /data/misc/wifi/wpa_supplicant -m 750

The control interface is changed so that it works with other versions of wpa_supplicant. If you change it to the way it was in the older Miui then wifi won't work at all.
If it never worked (even on stock) then the issue probably isn't with wpa supplicant, and could be a problem with the wifi driver, or the hardware itself. This really needs someone who knows what they're doing and access to a hidden 802.1x network to look into it.

Was there a driver change between 1.8.19 and later MIUI versions? The supplicant seems like the same version (v 0.6.10)?
On returning to 1.8.19 have had 3 days without issues. When on 1.9.30 the change to ap_scan=2 definitely improved and seemed to make a connection on reboot flawless, but reconnection from sleep was sporadic (probably <30%). Watching wpa_cli output when waking phone from screen off on 1.9.30 showed a failed connection attempt, and then a series of timed scans (CTRL-EVENT-SCAN-RESULTS) - these continued after CTRL-EVENT-CONNECTED (something that didn't occur after toggling wifi on/off/on and connecting).

Thanks for you feedback, that really helps. Even though the version number is the same they aren't the same file.
I'll get in contact with you via pm to try and sort this out.
Thanks guys for trying!
So there is no solution yet?
Any news ?
Thanks!

[Q] no data connection

Hello I tried several recent roms gingerbread or ics and in every time I do not have data connection but all the rest works very well.please help.
It is very unlikely.
What ROM did you try? SD version or NAND? You mean no data connection in 3G or wifi? You can try some clean and simple ROM, ex. NexusHD2-gingerbread, or Tyween's Typhoon CM7.
I have install typhoon , nexushd2 , mwakious , haldric , always in nand with ext4 1024mo.I have no 3g or internet connection (data transfer) , possible problem apn or i don't know. my clean install : task 29 magldr 1.13 , recovery 220mo, partition sd and install rom version magldr.
I have the same problem!
Wifi is on the other hand working flawless!
someone have the response?
Restart 3G
I posted this in a similar thread. It worked for me when I lost 3G. You may also need to check and update your APN settings for your mobile network if the below does not work. Sometimes removing the sim resets it.
# Go to Wireless & networks # mobile networks # network operators # Search networks # scanning for networks # list of operators will show up # select your network# Then go to Airplane mode # tick the checkbox to on for few seconds, untick the checkbox, phone will go into short reboots, re-enters your sim password to start your phone to your mobile network.
maybe you can check your APN setting for your networks,,,???
