Several areas of problems for me.

Questions:
1. Will re-installing my O2 ROM sim-lock my phone? It doesn't sound like it w/ all the ROM installing going on but I have to ask to be sure.
2. I did a hard reset when I couldn't get mms working on my XDA Exec w/ USA T-Mobile (mss working now, though). I now have serious stability issues and apparently have missing files. For example, I have no picture frames (themes?) and I get a pop-up error when I scroll past that option with the camera. Would these issues be solved by running the individual extended rom files?
3. I have installed Microsoft Portrait but I can't get the XDA's camera to work with it. Is there a .dll for the camera somewhere to make this work?
4. I was in one of the non-corporate mode after the hard reset because I didn't know the code. Now I am in Corporate mode but does this undo the 'features' that were installed with the non-corporate mode or do I need to hard reset again?

Ok, I hate replying to my own post but I can't find this in the threads.
How does one stop the extended rom on the O2 XDA from installing? I read where people here manually install the cabs they want and I would like to do the same. However, the extended rom is installing all on it's own right after I enter the 0605 for Corporate configuration.
Oh, and if anyone can help w/ the first post above...that's be great, too!

You can stop the ExtROM installing by doing a soft reset as soon as you first see the Today screen.

I can't believe I didn't think of that! (Would have been to chicken to try it without someone saying it's "OK" even if I did.) This is why you have 331 posts and I only have 3!

Here's my own modification. I did id for my own purpose, and decided to share it with you.
As a Base, I choosed 1.11.171 version of O2 ROM.
I stripped it from o2 stuff, left only necessary files. I added extra bluetooth profiles and left bluetooth and camera patch from new version (pug's version doesn't have it, despite what he says in his posts on this forum)
I also added Radio 1.04 from Pug's release.

yes
radio was taken from pug's release (162).. which is good, because it's more stable than official 1.0
apart from this, there's patched bluetooth driver, that was officialy released by o2. _THE SAME_ that previously was circulating around this forum.
i merged it with extra profiles taken from previous releases, because some people experienced a tiny set of options with this upgrade.
camera fix was also merged from the new, official 171 release. dunno what it does, because i'm not using this function
overall, the stability is the same because main rom version is the same. it doesn't change anything in windows core. changes were made only to the extended rom. that's it.
i have many applications (including startup ones, like: spb pocketplus, resco explorer, skype, agile messenger, etc.)
i'm using my rom for a week and I, personally, didn't experienced ANY hangs or resets. it's working like a charm.

I've got a questions regarding upgrading my O2

can I apply the ROM which you compile ?
does it means that I'll lose all of my apps settings then :-|

sure you can, and yes you'll lose everything (like after hard-reset)

My Alpine is dead
Yesterday I tried to update my alpine to this new Rom, but dissaster happened.
Maupgrade recognized my device and my version, and I told the program to begin with the update.
After more than 3 hours the scrren was blank with usb v1.01.
I took the pda and trie to hard reset it but it has been imposible.
Now the screen only says serial v1.01 or usb v1.01
If i try to re-run the maupgrade it only says that is checking the information of my device and stays like that for hours.
what can I do to have my PDA back?????

if you still have the screen saying serial v1.01 or usb v1.01, your device isn't bricked. maybe try other rom upgrade

Still No Luck
I have tries to install again the same ROM but there is no way of doing it. Maupgrade freezes saying "checking infromation from your device".
Any other ideas??
Do you know where could i find an spanish rom for my qtek 2020i, or any other Rom that I could try??

Dude, this happens sometimes. Take it out of cradle and then take the battery out. Re-insert the battery again and put it in the cradle and then re-run the maupgrade.

I have solved the problem!!!
I have tried doing it on a windows xp based computer and everything worked fine.
Has anybody had the same problem with windows vista???
Does any body know how can I find an spanish rom???

HTC P3600i Camera not working after un-flashing

Hey Guys
for a couple of months I was using tnyynt WM6.1 ROM on my P3600i
But It used to hang randomly and used to reset my device. So i though of going back to my original HTC WM6 Rom
Everything was working fine till I wanted to use my camera. Now when I switch it on it gives me the following error:
"Unable to start Camera. Unable to initialize camera"
Please help me to start my camera
And also if someone can tell me the most stable rom/radio for my PDA in Australia
My current settings are:
ROM Version: 3.00.707.18
Radio Version: 1.46.30.11

I fixed my problem by taking the battery out and leaving for 5 min and put it back in..
If it doesnt work, then reflash I guess.. that should also work too..

Just a quick question about the new Rom Update.
I'm currently waiting for T-Mobile to release there version of the Rom update from version 1.43 to 1.66.
I can get a copy of the 1.66 official Rom Update from the HTC website (my mate has a HTC HD2 which is unbranded).
Could i update my Rom using the download? Would it cause any problems to the phone?

Does this at all stop the sluggishness and freezing from time to time

O2 and VF both run locked ROMs - the S/Ns need to be cleared by O2/VF/HTC to allow download...

For future reference, it tells you the max ROM version that you need the hotfixes for, on the page where you download them.
In this instance, there haven't been any that have had a ROM version higher than 1.66, so no - you don't need them

i have updated my rom early this morning as link was already posted in forum ...
and htc has updated their site latter in day ...
well i believe updates already included in this new rom ...
system is smooth
in messaging # of texts by a person is shown after his name
key board seems ok now ...
camera still have some brightness issues with led ...
lagness seems to be disappeared from messaging (currently after restoring my sms phone is still smooth)
task manager short cut is present in start menu
....
the above are some changes i have noted for now

I haven't found anything noticeable except a lower screen sensitivity and some value added applications.

Before I update my ROM, I read this
"The update will take up to 30 minutes, DO NOT interrupt the update process, make/receive phone calls, disconnect the device from the PC, or press any buttons until the process has been completed."
And wondered how I can stop any incoming calls, messages, mails etc. Should I just put it into airplane mode or something?

Help with Hero Rom Please

My brother has a Hero which doesnt work very well, we had been trying to update to the latest firmware but were unable to do so, after we did a factory reset we realised that there was already a custom ROM on there, (the phone was purchased from ebay) below are the details :
Firmware Version: 1.5
Baseband Version: 63.18.55.06EU_6.35.06.18
Kernel Version: 2.6.27-mck-1.2

Build Number:
Modaco Custom Rom 2.8 core, ssh
Password: 9mzxij
The phone works terribly and is almost unusable due to the ROM version i believe.
Ive never rooted or put a custom ROM on an Android phone before. I dont know if it would be easier to Unroot the phone and put the standard ROM on there so I can update it to 2.1, or put on another custom ROM.
Your help and guidance is greatly appreciated.

First question is, what network are you on? Do you want to keep the phone software debranded (HTC Firmware) or Customised from the Providor, For Example Orange, T-Mobile, 3(Three) e.t.c ?

oops, thats a good point, the phone is on orange, and to be honest i think id prefer it unbranded.

OK, what you need to do is create a goldcard, install the unbranded WWE ROM and you will be presented with an update which you will need to get to push it up to the 2.1 ROM.

If your new to it all it's not that easy depends how fast you can learn. I will try get you some links....
Please make sure all your data is backed up, phone numbers / memory card et al.
01. Goldcard Method
02. Flash Stock 2.73 ROM
You should get a notification on the phone when you boot it up telling you there is an update... get it for the 2.1 rom. Should do the trick.
