You need to flash an AOSP rom like CM6.
Yeah but I heard cm6 doesn't support 4g which I use. Thanks though. Any others?
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Then use launcher pro.. Until a really good rom uses 4g.. if you can't find any, than look around I'm sure you'll find one
What exactly is launcher pro and how do i use it? Sorry I'm sort of new to this I came from an iphone 4. less than 2 days with the evo so far.

Search it on the market, or use ADW Launcher, as far as using it goes, you'll figure it out quite easily by yourself.
Edit: when you press the home button it'll ask if you wanna use Sense or whichever other launcher you have, press the check box, then choose the launcher you want.

Really? Just browse through this thread to see how awesome you can make your phone look with Launcher Pro.
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=725328&page=45
You don't need cm6 u can use snt sence based rom and if u search calk. Has a flashable.zip that u can use to remove sence but not have any of the setbacks of cm6 ie. No 4g....and then use launcherpro and u can customize it to basically look any way u want..the best in my opinion. Then just go to settings/ applications/manage applications and "clear defaults" on the home screen. And use launcherpro....pm me for any questions if u have them.
Sent from my PC36100 using XDA App
Can I use calk or whatever to remove sense on my stock rom? And also how would I go about installing this?

CM6.1 is the ONLY option~! 4G is a wothless battery hog!
Yeah but if I'm paying 10 dollars extra a month for it I'm going to use it.

You're going to pay that much anyways. You might as well save yourself the god-awful battery life for some moderately faster data speeds.
I've been using LauncherPro Plus on my unrooted (but probably not for much longer) Evo. Take some time to go through all the settings and look around the dev's web site. It's worth the investment of time.

Spoken like someone who doesn't realize 4G in Atlanta is still in testing/beta phase and won't be fully available until Dec/Jan. I'm in Baltimore and we are another 4G test city. I can download at speeds that rival Comcast cable modems in this area with minor battery life differences. In fact, my 4G tethering is my only source of home internet connection right now and I'm happy with it.
So, to answer the OP... Go to Sprint and look at their lists of testing cities. If you aren't in one of them you can't use 4G anyway so you can switch to CM6.1
if you are in a 4G city, then I suggest either the Virus-Rom (10/27 edition) with LauncherPro or a ROM that is designed to minimize sense:

Yeah I'm in daytona, fl and I get perfect 4g. I am running the fresh rom right now and ill prob use it until I get bored with it.

Will HTC update our evos with the new version of sense, i like the fact that you can change the button bar and status bar to different styles. Theyll probably just leave us hanging.

You can already do that with our version of sense... Just use a theme.
Where are the same themes that are on the Desire?...
Anyway, I loved using that interface. Themes and downloads were nice, plus the menus and size of the text and icons with the Desire HD rom were fantastic.
We will have to wait and see what happens, but I'm sure we won't get spoiled.
Spoilers: You can do all of that and more with LauncherPro.
Are you kidding?
I have LauncherPro Plus, and have enjoyed using themes with it, but it cannot even come close to producing the same interface as the Sense UI Desire ROM's.

HTC said that it is up to Sprint to decide when and if the EVO will get the new Sense. So far we haven't heard anything from Sprint.
Hi everyone. Yesterday I traded my Epic for an Evo (for my own personal reasons - regardless of how FUBAR they may be to you). I love the Evo and everything is going well... UNTIL the guy I traded makes me aware of a small little problem: Sprint says I can't activate the phone with a custom ROM on it.
I guess I must have forgot to tell him to not let Sprint in on the phone cracking, but too late. Now he is saying he needs me to help him put the phone back to stock. It currently has Quantum ROM 1.3 on it and clockwork mod and all that stuff.
Do any of you believe that the phone won't activate with this ROM? If so, do you have any recommendations of how to get this guy up and running - remotely? He lives 40 miles from me and it was a hassle for us to meet up yesterday.
Flash the modem stickied at the top of the Dev page using ODIN and you're golden. Why don't you just call sprint and activate the phone. You don't have to bring the phone into a store.
We did call Sprint and they put it in the system and everything and said it was done. However, the phone never activated
BTW, I am at that page and looking for the stock ROM. I see a couple of 2.1 ROM's, but neither of them seem to be the stock official 2.1
The stock tar is stickied at the top of the development thread, just follow the directions.

I took a chance at the method at this link: http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=786266 and it worked perfectly. His new Epic works great and is back to Android 2.1.
Thanks for all your help everyone!

Last time I checked, the Epic ran TouchWiz - not Sense.

Yes, at sucking, the EVO is faaaarrrr superior I agree..lol
But realistically if your gonna make those kind of statements at least claim why you feel that way >.>
Last time I checked my evo was slow as piss and everything lagged, including the Notification area, App Drawer and the whole 9 yards. On top of that it liked to eat battery like a starving child. Htc needs to learn how to make graphics drivers. XV6800, Touch Pro, Touch Pro 2. The cycle never ends, well besides the G2 of course.

I love the My touch 4G to death, but my wife doesn't seem to like it much. So, I'm need to find something to replace hers. Her's is being used unlocked on AT&t. So, does anyone have any suggestions? On eBay I can sell it for $200-240 so, i'd like to sell it and buy a replacement. It needs to be GSM (AT&T or T-Mobile phones are fine), in my price range and have similar specs. I have really can't think of anything. She hates it so bad she's using her old Samsung Magnet until I find her something :/ lol
It'd help to know the specific things your wife does not like about the MyTouch 4G.

She can't make text messaging signature and it doesn't have a keyboard :/
I've already talked to her..... There is no reasoning.
I've never heard of a text messaging signature before.
Good to know about the other thing, though. So the only requirement is a hard keyboard?
Stick with the my touch..
Sent from my ADR6300 using XDA App
For the text message signature she could try using Go SMS Pro in the market.
The only gsm android phone I can think of with a keyboard is the G2. I've used it in the past though and found it to be slightly slower than the MyTouch due to the smaller ram and lower processor speed. I agree that she should stick with the MyTouch.

you could try the mytouch 4g slide, though it is a bit pricey. but check it out anyway.
Virtuous unity has text messaging signature, just checked.

The Virtuous Unity ROM do have signature option as stated by saranhai.
So no need to change the phone, just change the ROM.
Just go for VU 2.37

If anything don't get the g2 I had it. It's slow as hell outside the stock Rom. Has a good build quality to it though.
Sent from my HTC Glacier using xda premium
if she wants to have a physical keyboard then your gonna have to switch phones, id say go for the mytouch 4g slide just cuz it would be a more familiar platform and cuz the g2 would be a downgrade in hardware
Hard to imagine not liking the phone over those two reasons. Swype is so much better and faster than conventional texting. And as for the signature, I'm not rooted and I use GO SMS. As already mentioned, it has the option to add a signature. Plus it's much better than the stock text. JMO. Each to their own I guess.
After a solid year with my MT4G (which I am still in love with...) I just bought the GSII
Have to say so far, this phone's bad ass.
