I have just today got an OTS notification from Tmobile. i accepted the update. its got to 100% and said update failed, it tried to reboot several times and it just gets stuck on the black vibrant/samsung screen. Ive tried clockwork mod recovery several time with restore system and and restore boot, but the same thing. I power on, and stuck on vibrant screen, since recovery I get the tmobile sound but not blue swirly galaxy s logo, and no boot. just black screen. Someone help please!
First step to fixing your problem: Dont freak out!
Second Step: Go to this link and follow these steps, it worked amazingly well for me:

This is good advice, certainly should give it a shot. I just tried it with my fiance's Vibrant(I told her not to use the OTA, but she did it anyways :/) and it worked great! All her settings/apps are intact and phone booted right up!

Ok, so here is the situation:
I rooted my Droid 2, no problem. You guys give very easy to follow directions, so kudos.
Things worked fine once rooted for a week or so, then I installed LCD Density changer. I put in the new density I wanted, it told me to reboot. Fine, I do so. Once I do it, it goes into an endless boot cycle.
My first thought was boot into recovery and do 'restore to factory defaults', so I figured out how to do that, and it 'worked'. But once I restarted, now it reboots with an LCD density of 90 (like I set in LCD Density changer); it takes me to the initial setup screen, works for 10-15 seconds, then reboots. I repeated the 'restore to factory defaults' and same thing.
I'm at a loss as to what to do! I've read about 'flashing' a recovery...can I do that while my phone is in its current state?
Thanks so much for your help, people!
I think you can flash your phone. I don't think you need to have your phone working to flash. Maybe just having it on?

Yup, you should be able to get in just fine to flash it again. Just turn the phone on while holding down the UP arrow on the D-pad. I've done a lot of stupid stuff to every Droid I've owned, and still haven't managed to brick one permanently.

You're right! This let me get access to the bootloader, and flash the recovery .sbf I found in another thread. I'm keeping my fingers crossed, but this seems to be working. Thanks for your help!

RSD lite would not work while I was in the bootloader program. It would get to 100% then would go into a second flashing of image file then it would fail. I am pretty sure I have bricked my phone, but still hanging on to it hoping against hope that I can fix it. I have tried almost everything, with the exception of using Linux. I don’t know where to get it or how much it costs.
I wound up having to buy another Droid 2 from the Verizon store here in town. :/

Hey guys, after a stupid mistake I screwed myself, and after a lot of research and aggravation I decided to throw in the towel and ask for help. I installed the Fission rom and it worked great till I did a reset after I had uninstalled the stock launcher. When I hold down X and start the phone, it boots into a recovery screen with an exclamation mark and says "E: Cant open /cache/recovery/command." When I "wipe data/factory reset" I can get the phone to load but with no home launcher, but I can receive texts and phone calls. I have tried to reinstall Launcher Pro by sending a link to download by text but when I go to install it says something about a parse error and wont install. Im completely lost at this point and need help please. Im so angry that a stupid mistake cost me so much time and effort. How can I go about fixing this?
In your case, I would SBF that ***** back to stock. You can find a guide to doing so in the development section.

Now that you know how to do it, it shows a) you dont have a brick b) itll be easier next time.

haha yeah, I know brick implies an unfixable phone but I couldnt think of a better word. It is a straight foward process and should be very easy if theres a next time now that ive already done it.

I had the same EXACT problem. Deleted the stock launcher and sat for HOURS on and on trying to figure it out. SBF didnt want to work either...so i called vzw and they ordered me a replacement...the next day at school i tried sbf again with 4.8 instead of 4.7 it worked!

So i flashed something that my phone doesnt agree with and now it gets stuck in boot. it gets to samsung screen then goes black and back to samsung over and over..
through clockwork i've wiped everything, tried to recover, tried to flash fresh roms, new kernels everything but i'm still stuck.. is this a situation to try odin? I don't have access to a pc so i just wanted to know if that is the next step cause its kinda of a pain in the ass to get a hold of one

yeah you are pretty much screwed
screwed as in i should go to verizon w/ a sob story or screwed as in try odin
Couldn't you use Odin to restore? Or have you already tried that?
yeah man just revert to stock via Odin . Youre fine , happens to everyone at some point . Get back on that Android horse and ride it haha .
Yes, use odin.
If flashing other kernels doesn't fix this, (ie you still get stuck after the Verizon logo with lit buttons) let me know. I've got a trick up my sleeve for this, but I've only seen it happen twice, it's pretty rare.

hi everyone,
I am actually a long time custom ROM flasher started since Desire days, but registered recently because of this problem I have with the Tab 10.1 Wifi.
Despite me trying everything I can think of, I couldn't flash any other ROMs now, including GalaxyTask, Overcome, AOKP CM9, except the stock Honeycomb sans TouchWiz ROM, and of course PhantomTask. I am pretty sure PhantomTask is the last ROM I've flashed until this problem comes up.
I have made sure that I have done a full clean wipe every time before I flash any of them, wipe data -> cache -> dalvik cache, I even format /system partition, but still none of them works. They always get stuck at boot screen, unless the either one of the two ROMs I've mentioned, stock or PhantomTask.
I am sure that my downloads are complete too, as I've checked MD5 for each of them.
So I really don't know what to do now, any ideas?
I'd really want to test out AOKP
Define stuck. It's not uncommon to have to sit for 5 or even 10 minutes at that first boot. How long have you waited?
Sent from my GT-P7510 using XDA App
Wrong section pal. Might want to post in Task's thread.
Sent from my Galaxy Nexus using XDA App
Just wait. It sometimes takes 15 minutes or so for my tab to boot up the first time.
thanks for the reply
It gets stuck at the Samsung Tab logo, and not proceed to the boot animation. I've tried waiting up to 30 minutes or more at one point, just leaving it there and do my own things. Though after that one time I'm not sure I've waiting that long.
I'll try again tonight and see how it goes.
@hbkmog I would have posted at Task thread if I could.
Have you tried with a newer version of ClockworkMod? Perhaps this one: ClockworkMod 5.0.2.7
thanks Maple Syrup, I have flashed that recovery yesterday, and I've tried flashing CM9 after that. I left it overnight to boot, it still didn't boot pass the logo, and the battery drained out.
I'll give it another try later.
ok I've tried everything I can, and still can't get this to work.
Then finally I've decided to try to unroot and restore everything to stock.
I've followed each and every step of this guide
http://forum.xda-developers.com/showthread.php?t=1474971
After everything is done, Odin is showing the pass sign, according to the video its suppose to reboot into Android, but weirdly its stuck at a black screen. So I unplugged it from the PC rebooted it by holding down power button. But now its stuck at the boot logo, and won't proceed, its been more than 10 mins.
I am still able to boot into download mode, but when I boot into recovery wanting to do a factory reset, it shows a black screen and nothing else.
any idea what's going on?

Thank you! As I seem to be saying a lot lately, it's success posts like this that keep us trying to help in the first place. Makes us feel good to know we helped.
Sorry again for the rude first post. I think I was extra grumpy that day. Probably from some ungrateful user asking for help and then getting rude that the suggestion(s) didn't help them exactly like they wanted or even some days not fast enough for them. Funny how sometimes people trying to help have things to do other than sit and work on someones problem 24/7. not directed towards you.
Glad to hear you got it going.

Let's not brick your phone intentionally just yet! Try getting hold of a PD15IMG.zip (2.2.1 or 2.3.4, either works unless you want to root again, then go for 2.2.1). Boot into bootloader with the PD15IMG on the root of your SD, then let it update. If it doesn't and says Fail-PU, then you are bricked and could send it back to T-Mobile. Or you could try flashing another ROM. Hope this helps!

do this: wipe data/factory reset
wipe cache
wipe dalvik
flash the original ROM (the one you have a backup of, but not the actual back up)
THEN restore the backup, it shouldnt get stuck at system anymore

Get a 12v power supply, cut the end off and strip the wires. Take the battery out and touch the wires to the phones battery contacts a couple times. Replace battery try to power on. If it doesn't turn on your done, if it does try again. Tell them it was on the charger and shut off when you unplugged it and wouldn't turn on.

I had a similar problem when the splash screen got stuck last night flashing a new radio. I took the sdcard and plugged it in the netbook, accessed the root rolder and renamed the PD15IMG.zip so the HBOOT wouldn't read the file. It stopped the HBOOT from reading the file so I could access Recovery then reflashed my recovery file. I forgot to do the data wipe/dalvik before I flashed the radio lol.
