problem playing specific wav file

I have a voice over ip phone system at work.
We are using an answering phone system where missed calls are recorded and automatically sent as an wav file attachment to the mailbox.
Now we certainly sync all PIM data to the mobile devices. The wav file attachments of course too.
And here's the problem. I can't play the wav files on my pocket pc.
If I try it with my ipaq the small play controls are displayed but nothing happens with pushing the play button. It stops at once again.
If I try to play it with my qtek2020, the album player is opened but it automatically plays the next found playable file not the one I clicked.
If I delete all other playable files the album app opens nothing and displays the file open dialog.
The file is playable without any problems with the pc. Irfanview says its 8-bit, 8,000Hz, Mono, 51.2 seconds.
A friend of mine examined the wav file and said it's in CCITT A-Law format.
How can I play these wav files on my pocketpc?

TCPMP conflict

hello,
i've installed TCPMP v.0.66 on my Himalaya (XDA II). prior to the installation, tapping directly on a video file (e.g. mp4) causes it to be opened with the default player - "album". however, after the installation.. tapping on a file causes my unit to soft reset. as well, opening the "album" program thru the programs folder causes the same soft reset. there seems to be no problem with running TCPMP and playing video files with it.
i'm guessing the reset is caused by some conflict between the two software and i believe (and hope) there's some other solution other than uninstalling the TCPMP.
please help.. thanks in advance.
install an mp4 codec man..... or an mp4 player.... TCMP only plays mp4 codecs like avi, mpeg and mp3
thanks for the reply man.. my particular concern is my "album" program not being able to coexist with TCPMP. do you mean that installing an mp4 codec would solve this "conflict" between the 2 programs?
thanks again
the file must be compatible with the software
the files i'm trying to open are compatible with both "album" and "TCPMP".. it's just that once TCPMP is installed, "album" crashes at start up..
TCPMP non-conflict
I'm assuming that you're tapping on the media file you wish to view from either File Explorer or another similar file manager, which, of course, will open it in Album or Media Player (which is the default application assigned to open such files). Try opening TCPMP v0.66 FIRST. Tap on File, Open, then your desired media file. Then, you will get your desired result.

What do you think of inbuilt WM5 Utilities?

Hello
Am I the only one who has problems with the inbuilt Microsoft Crap, in particular File Explorer. When ever I use it, for example trying to open the Windows Directory, the 'Please Wait Circle' goes around and around for minutes, or it simply crashes the system needing a Soft Reboot.
However, Resco Explorer opens straight away, Gsfinder+ again opens straight away.
Windows Menu System, so slow, install Wisbar Advance and it fires up straight away. Why can't Microsoft ever get anything to work properly, yet third party developers really boost the system?
Is there any way to strip down WM5 so releasing Memory and just use third party software?
Well, you are not the only one. Not that that is much comfort.
Here is another story for you:
Transfer 5MB directory with file explorer over WIFI (from shared folder on PC) - 1min 30sec.
Same directory with Total Commander - 25sec.
And of course there are little things, like file extensions or opening files directly from shared folders on PC.
Unfortunately, you can't get rid of the built in crap because it is part of ROM. So there is no memory to be reclaimed (unless you are good at cooking your own ROMs and can substitute programs directly there).
Personally I use:
TCPMP / WinamPaq instead of WMP
Total Commander instead of File explorer.
I use TCPMP like you as it appears to play just about everything, but have you noticed that if you tap on an AVI up comes Media Player by default to tell you that it does not support the file.
Microsoft even say on http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windowsmedia/player/windowsmobile/faq.aspx#5_1
"5.3 Why can't I play a file that I copied to my device?
You are trying to play a file format that Windows Media Player 10 Mobile does not support (such as files with the extensions .avi, .divx, .m4a, .mpeg, .mpg, .ms-dvr, .ram, .wav, or .xvid)"
I thought this might be due to the supported Codecs
Microsoft MPEG-4 codec version 2.0 and 3.0.
ISO MPEG-4 video codec version 1.0.
But they appear to use the extension MP4
So if Media Player does not play AVI, why is it associated with Media Player?
It's because MS is BEEP BEEEEEEEEP BEEP.
But seriously, in TCPMP go to:
Options->Settings->Select page->File association
select all the file types you want associated with TCPMP and click OK.
This should solve the problem, and you will even see TCPMP icon next to the file names in explorer.

Playlist for TCPMP

Does the TCPMP have the ability to make a playist?
Thanks,
just go to file then playlist and you can add files

best performance movie viewing with TP2? How to view movie?

I've been reading the copious threads about ripping movies onto the Touch Pro 2, and have been using the Catalyst 3 program with some success by just using the standard Touch Pro 2 settings in the software.
I read in some of the threads that some software on the TP2 can use the hardware acceleration function and some can't which makes for smoother movie viewing, etc. My question is this: When I put my converted mp4 movie on my SD card and onto the TP2, how should I view it to get maximum performance from the device? Should I put in a folder so that the movie is in the Album viewer and tap it in the album viewer and view it from there? Should I just locate the movie file using file explorer, tap on it, and view it that way? Or should I open the included Windows Media Player, then open the file from within that program? Or does it even matter? Will all 3 methods provide equal performance?
Thanks!
As to answer your question I just use the album viewer. I have the shortcut in my favorite programs and use that to navigate to my videos folder and select my movie and play. Im sure there is a way to create a shortcut to the Video Player itself through the regisrty but I havent found it yet.
You want to play the file using HTCAlbum, and not Windows Media Player; but whether you launch HTCAlbum and then load the file, or whether you associate .mp4 files with HTCAlbum and launch it from File Explorer makes no difference (except that the second way is probably easier!). HTCAlbum is quite possibly already the default application for .mp4 files anyway, so you may not need to actively associate it.
