True.. My guess is that this will be possible..
Nice, but isnt this a bit early? I thought that 3.0 wouldn't be out before next year.

Said in the article October... Of course, the article is from August 9th.
Ram/rom
Only the tmous HD2 has enough ram per the google requirements. SO... its likely, but may not be universal.

I'm sure it will be ported to all HD2s...
remember, the MyTouch wasn't supposed to have LWPs, neither was the Hero or the Slide, so this RAM thing is just for an official release, it will be EASILY ported to all HD2s.

I hope so. Before i got my hd2 all i had ever done was change icons on a blackberry. I'm really getting into all this OS swapping.
It's not known for sure if gingerbread is going to be version 3.0
Also, the believed phone requirements for running gingerbread have been denied by google. So no, the phone does not need to have a 1ghz processor, etc.
I think we will get to run gingerbread on the hd2 soon after it's released

The EU HD2 definitely has 576MB RAM, as the latest official ROM upgrade kind of unlocked the 'hidden' RAM..
But yes, the specs are probably outdated.

Windows Phone 7 on HD2 update coming in March?
A Tuesday Twitter update aims to assuage rumors floating around the net regarding an HTC HD2 handset allegedly running the recently announced Windows Phone 7. Believed to originate from Microsoft itself, the Twitter update hints that more information on the handset running on the new OS may arrive sometime in March. WP7 will bring many upgrades compared to its predecessor, WM6.5, including multi-touch support and a Zune-like interface, among many other more modest improvements.
HTC had said last year that the HD2 is its only handset that will qualify for upgrading to the next-generation Windows Mobile operating system. This is likely due to its fast 1GHz CPU and high resolution capacitive touchscreen, both of which are necessary to meet Microsoft's requirements. Any updates won't appear until closer to the end of the year.
- - - - - - - -
i want the Windows 7 =)
damn ... i want it so much )
Yawn.
There will "apparently" be an "official" message from HTC that is "allegedly" a response to many questions about WM7 being available on the HD2, when it comes out in December. Since HTC have said nothing more than "we're making an announcement in March", it could be anything to do with anything and I think we should just all speculate and assume that the HD2 will have WM7 in March. Ah mate - you beat me to it.
Incidentally, you mention "Microsoft's requirements". You've never read them - ever. They've not been released. There are rumours all over the internet that are as believable as "fake moon landings" and Bush planning 911.
It's this simple. A WP7S phone must have 3 and only 3 buttons. Any phone with more or less than 3 does not qualify as a WP7S phone and so will never get an official WP7S software upgrade.
Count the buttons on the HD2.
I have a leaked WM7 beta rom on my HD2. Using it right now....who wants a dump of this uber rom?

Put a sticker on 2 buttons with note "don't touch this" and HD2 will not have more or less than 3 buttons How simple it that
Two buttons will not be used by firmware, that's all. Another point is if the update will be delivered There are so many rumors, let's wait till the end of the month and we will know for sure

Not true? The LG device shown on the Engadget show last Saturday had the 3 required buttons + a camera button, volume control buttons and a power button.
The requirement is to have AT LEAST these 3 buttons: Back, Windows (home, whatever) and Search. You can add whatever you want to that.

Ha, I figure you're trolling, but you're not that far away from me. Excuse to swing by OC if you will Let me stop by and demand proof/obtain WP7
Lucky lucky Lude .
As for the the button debacle, I'd like to think it it 'at least 3 buttons' (being start, back and search) but it is probably 'only 3 front facing buttons'. This is to probably give all Windows Phones a distinctive, unified look.

Android 2.1 platform for Hero and Moment
Specialists: All
Customers: All
What you need to know:
With all the anticipation of Nexus One joining the Sprint Android family of great devices, customers with the HTC Heroand the Samsung Momentwith Googlemay wonder about the Android 2.1 platform that supports Nexus One.
What you need to do:
We know that technology has enabled greater productivity and spontaneity in our lives, and because of this we have become very dependent on staying connected. Customers don only expect more from their wireless phones -- they demand it.
Let your customers know we are actively working on having the Android 2.1 platform available to our Hero and Moment customers over the coming weeks.
Look for more information coming in April about Android 2.1 platform for Hero and Moment.
And dont forget:
The HTC Hero and the Samsung Moment with Google are superior devices.
Sprint is the only national U.S. carrier to offer HTC Hero, and it picked up top honors as Best Mobile Handset at the 2010 Mobile World Congress in Barcelona.
About.com readers have also nominated HTC Hero as their favorite smartphone for the 2010 Reader Choice Awards.
doesent suprise me thats why i just went back to old trusty 1.5 and going to try to block 2.1 outta my head cause im gonna die of high blood bressure waiting for it to officially drop
good thing 99% of my customers dont know wtf 2.1 is anyways lol.
It's not as if these new 2.1 ROMs up on this board are totally useless.
These new builds are stable enough for everyday use and aren't that different than what the official 2.1 will provide.
The jump we've made in just the last week is far bigger than the difference that the official ROM is going to give us.
yea i use 2.0b i love it! screw sprint lets go xda! lol were just basically missing the friend update thingy from these builds pretty much nothing more i believe.

This mysterious invitation just popped up in our inbox, asking us to "come see what HTC has dreamt up 15 September." Could this be the fabled Vision or Desire HD? UPDATED
The use of the word "dreamt" intrigues me, not least because their first Android phone (in fact, the first-ever Android phone, period) was called the Dream. Or the G1, when sold exclusively at T-Mobile.

Something like the Tosh K01 would be good but sadly (and i do mean that) running Android instead of Winmo. I don't want to keep throwing money away by buying WinMo apps.
I also hope the K01 specs on PDADB are out of date as it only has a 3.2mp camera and no HD capture (obviously). It does however have a 4.1" screen and a qwerty keyboard! YAY!

Oh..Then I think its no point if gingerbread has no major improvements..sad google..
Overall faster operations and presentation, less latency in input operations, better 2D/3D performance, longer battery, better text selection/copypaste etc.
Doesn't sound too bad to me. Is probably less of a hassle to upgrade to 2.3 from 2.2 than it was to change 2.1 to 2.2 so HTC should be doing it, especially now when they've introduced a whole new world of bugs with froyo for legend...

HTC is not going to develop a Gingerbread update for Legend, so the only alternative would be to root and to install Cyanogenmod.

It is not a matter of "can do it" or "should do it"...it is more a marketing issue. Don't think HTC will ever want to release such update, to "steal" the market from newer models. If Legend offcially gets it, who's gonna buy newer and more expensive devices? As those will be advertised to receive or to be launched with 2.3. CM and the rest of cooks here will remain our last and single hope...

You honestly think that the iPhone release will take out all of their resources that they can't make a statement about the release or status of the update? Pondering things like these leads nowhere, that has become more than evident with all of these froyo threads. They are full of speculation and made up conspiracies because people are so absorbed by the thought of companies withholding froyo from them. Enjoy your phone, rom it and change things to your liking...when we get froyo, we get froyo. I really dont understand why people need to make endless threads about this.

They are full of speculation and made up conspiracies because people are so absorbed by the thought of companies withholding froyo from them. Enjoy your phone, rom it and change things to your liking...when we get froyo, we get froyo. I really dont understand why people need to make endless threads about this.

They should make some sort of filter that prevents you from posting if Froyo is in the title... or heavy moderation, this is getting ridiculous.

Agreed.

This was a major let down! As the title states, I was expecting to read a public announcement on the update from Verizon. Total waste of time.
Wow I really thought they released a statement... smh at the owner of this topic

I dont really post much, but I must get this out, WTF is up with BOTH samsung and verizon.
Verizon isn't just the one accountable for it, Samsung is as well, they are slow on updates.
LG just released the 2.2 froyo update for possibly the worst phone ever made the LG Ally.
The other thing I'm not getting is why the development is slow for the fascinate, are people just not that interested in the phone as other phone's ? No disrespect for the developers. I'm just stating that other phones have had 2.2 for a LONG time and the fascinate is just barely getting into 2.2 development.
Dont tell me its because GSM and CDMA are different. Honestly I have ported GSM to CDMA android phones just fine, yes it takes some time. Right now im currently looking into how the samsung is all set up so I can take a shot at some things..
end rant...
I believe your talking about porting a rom from a GSM phone to a cdma phone.... what's up with the fascinate is way more then that.....
Anybody who starts yet another of these complaint/conspiracy threads should be auto-banned.
