JF3 Firmware shipped with Froyo - Galaxy S I9000 General

Hi,
I bought my SGS 1 month ago, on Sep 8 from Amazon. (I9000 international version). It came with firmware JF3, and Android 2.2.
I read everwhere that froyo wasnt released for the SGS until today, so what happens? My phone was shipped with beta firmware or something?
thanks!

You must of had a customer return. Someone messed with the firmware then sent it back to amazon.

JF3 is not Froyo 2.2, I have JG4 and its 2.1.

Well, mine is... If someone messed with the firmware, a factory reset shouldnt return to its original state?

mine jg8 and it 2.1

Please post a screenshot from Settings > About Phone. (Back button + home button).
And no, factory reset does not change your firmware. It only wipes the settings and data.

JP3 is Froyo, JF3 is 2.1/eclair..
If your phone shipped with Froyo, it's more likely a customer returned it and it was resold as new..

Thanks for the tip! I loved that back button + home button thing
anyway, the screenshot is attached

The firmware is Froyo, but "baseband" I believe refers to the phone (radio) firmware - not the OS.

If you can scroll down is there any more to the "build number" field?

That's not JF3 PDA.

Yes, dial *#1234# from your dialer and look at the PDA: line. THAT is your firmware.

So mine is actually JP2 firmware? Whats the difference between PDA and Phone?
Is there a way to know if it is a returning unit?

Where can I find infos on CSC, PDA and Phone information?

hahaha sorry, thats not what I meant. I already did that, there is a screenshot. I want more information on what is each code, more information about what those infos mean.

PDA is Android OS and google apps.
The CSC has service provider configuration data their network and any customisation and apps specific to operator and region.
MODEM is the firmware of the wireless communication chipset for the phone
If you want more info then check out the Galaxy S wiki.

So whats the product id, KOR or it reverted back to the original.one? Thanks.

How do I see the product code?
Check to see if the build date has changed from the previous JPC
Probably a silly question, is it possible to flash this new version from the "old" jpc? or do we have to flash another firmware and the this?

"A new firmware version is available"

Just got round to connecting my UK unlocked and unbranded phones4u GS2 up to Kies on Windows.
I've got a message that a new firmware is available:
Current: "PDA:KDA /PHONE: KDF / CSC:KD1 (XEU)
Latest: "PDA:KDD / PHONE: KDH / CSC:KD1 (XEU)
I don't get anything when checking for updates on the phone itself. Has anyone else updated? Is it safe? What's the changes?
Phones4u had their SGSii stock earlier than anyone else and seems to have KDA firmware. Mine from O2 the other day already had KDD as default... not sure of the changes tbh!
I got my SGS II from Carphonewarehouse in London SIM FREE. The firmware I have after pressing *#1234# is
PDA I9100XWKDD
PHONE I9100XXKDH
CSC I9100XEUKD1
build info: Tue Apr 26 09:00:32 KST 2011
I got mine from p4u . And also just had the update notification . I have just done the update . Like other have said i cant see anything thats change .
Anyone got any ideas's what the difference is between the firmware ?
Anthony
Could this have anything to do with the GPS being off for some people? I noticed dk206 has an updated firmware and gets great GPS lock/accuracy.
Edit: Unless its great battery stats that dk206 gets? Seen that many different threads past few days...
Can one of you capture the firmware from the KIES cache when it's downloaded and post it up here?
I see KDF is available to download. Does this bring many changes?
no update available here.
mines P4U stock and on KDA
odd..
Diabolous, have you checked for updates on the SGS2 itself, or when connected to Kies?
My P4U bought one reported as up to date when checking in Settings > About Phone Check FOr Update, but the first time I hooked it up to Kies (yesterday) it flagged an update (KDD).
Can one of you guys using KIES go into your registry:
HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Samsung\Kies\DeviceDB\
Look for the number that correspond to your device and post the HIDSWVER key details and Product code details for me before doing the update.

Let me do this now for you. And just to clarify I haven't tested gps properly yet. I have decent battery life 20~24hrs better than sgs 17~20hrs with my normal day to day usage.
Also I did not update anything. I got my firmware like this straight outta the box frim cpw. But cpw has always usually put stock uk rom, for the original sgs anyways.

Cheers mate
This has killed my phone.
CPR is in progress. Transferring the firmware to my phone failed and now it won't boot. Avoid.
Update: It's alive! Samsung's emergency firmware recovery fixed it, and installed the new firmware in the process - without losing any data. Phew!
My Quadrant scores seem to be up a few hundred (3200 to 3500) but that could be the usual variation. I find Quadrant changes quite a bit between runs.

SamFirmware just tweeted:
FIRMWARES: Samsung I9100XWKFI, I9100BUKE5, I9100TDUKE6 Online! (Android 2.3.3)

Looks like KF1 is still 2.3.3 and not the 2.3.4 update we have been waiting for
Hopefully our update will come soon and sort out all of the battery drain issues.
Hope this helps.

Didn't have these issues, I've never had to restart the phone, except yesterday, when i set my device-font to the original one, because the font had a border, after a restart it hadn't the border anymore .
Btw: I thought the navigation is using the gyroscope for tunnels, to get the position without gps, but with the google navigation it isn't working... didn't test it on offline navigations, did anyone?

Well you said it's used so the chances that it will be hardware fault are high, but you always can go to a fixing lab just to check if there's an hardware problem
This could be the proximity sensor. Had this on an old device. Only a few pounds on ebay to buy a new one.

you are picking up interference from somewhere , so best to check if you are on the correct radio firmware or your unit may have been repaired before and they have not housed back properly , since it is only picking up interference at close range with other radio frequencies

Switch modem. I had this too, it happens when you have modem which is using too much power to make calls.... Which means you have rock solid and stable signal, but it interferes with the rest of the phone...Try JVQ or JVT modems.

[Q] Omega Rom - screen rotation broken?

So, here i am, proudly owning a Galaxy S4 i9505.
I'm not really new to flashing, cooking and such stuff since i owned my sensation for 3 days
So i rooted my S4, decided to try this Omega Rom. All seems to be fine, till now when i realised that the auto-rotation is broken.
It is active in settings and i tried multiple launchers (that crappy TouchWiz thing, Nova and ADW).
Yes i activated it also in the launchers settings but nothing happend.
Restarted, took out battery, waited for a couple of seconds, nothing.
Is it a problem with the rom or maybe something went wrong during the flash process or is my sensor broken?
I thought i ask before trying go back to stock.
And dont blame me for this crappy **** of english.
Ok it seems that no sensor is working at all

I went back to stock and tried a couple of original VD2 firmwares for Germany.
The first 5 i tried were located to Slowenia with the CSC: SIM. Kies told me that.
So i couldnt get updates OTA and from Kies.
Then i simple debranded my phone, and flashed the DBT firmware. All was fine. Updates working.
I tried another Vodafone Rom and now i got the Vodafone apps and the CSC: DBT???
So no updates OTA and with Kies.
I need to fix this and go back to CSC: VD2 because a couple of sensors are broken (warranty).

It is a problem of the hardware aspect at least with my phone.
I think i crashed it when i was drunk, so maybe check your right upper corner on collisions.
Samsung was in my case very friendly. New phone, no change of the sensors.
