Sorry guys, I know a lot of ROM's are linked to my site so I wanted to let everyone know I'm aware of the problem. My web host is *****y about bandwidth usage even though I'm not exceeding my limit. I'm dealing with them as we speak, and the site will either be back up shortly, or I will move it to a new host, and will hopefully be back up sometime tonight.
Sorry about the trouble, but I thought I'd make a new thread for this, rather than posting in each ROM thread where people are wondering why the links aren't working.

Ok, the site should be coming back up anytime now.
I'm going to have to move the site to a different web host, however, but the transition should be pretty smooth. Hopefully it'll happen sometime tonight.

Ok, sorry once again guys, but even though the site is back up, I'm going to have to take it down and make some modifications before it comes back up, otherwise they're just going to suspend the account again, because the second they unsuspended the account, the bandwidth maxed back out again. I'll get it back up as quickly as possible!
Ok, once again, the site is back up. I'm experimenting right now with a new script to save bandwidth, while not affecting download speeds or anything. Hopefully everything works smoothly! Let me know if you have any issues downloading.

the author suggests your 2.1 rom with root which when i click his link and i go to download it, the file isnt there. Is there another way i can maybe get this? If i were to apply it, does the phone have to be rooted before applying it or do i just apply the ROM and done deal? My phone is currently on the OTA 2.1

For what it's worth:
My G2 is in for a repair. The online repair tracker says that it has been repaired and the next step is 'software upgrade'.
This would seem to imply that the upgrade is imminent, however, given T-Mobile's legendary incompetence and dishonesty.......

I have something that might be worth trying if you wanna take a shot at rooting again Come onto the VillainROM irc (go to www.villainrom.co.uk and click IRC to get a web client) if you wanna give it a go. I can't test as I don't have a 2.1 unrootable phone. But if you understand that clouds might fall from the sky, and that your phone could spontaneously combust (have a fire extinguisher ready ), and you are still willing, give me a shout over there.
The reason I have not posted this is that it isn't tested, so there's no way I'm putting up details till someone has at least made sure their phone doesn't die.

Umm. Not sure what you mean
If you come onto IRC (not WC ), I have something that I can give you to try. It is a zip file. You put it onto your computer and then you run a few ADB commands via a batch file. It should (not guaranteed as it's not tested yet) install patched recovery. You can nandroid etc. from there and flash custom ROM if it works.
We don't need to take your phone away It's just a little file you run that might manage to get recovery installed.
But it might also kill your cat or cause World War III. It's untested, but I am not aware of any other hopes.

yeah they are rolling out their update in the Netherlands, runs smoothly.
As for no root access, well I dont bother to much about it, Most custom roms (with all the respect) are not my cup of tea. Some things didn't work the way they should be, and with all those roms I couldn't get my mobile tv to work.
Edit : Mobile TV doesn't work in this rom either, there's something wrong with the HTC updates...

i can guarantee you it wont come tonight. take my word for it. even if it does we wont officially get it from android for another couple of months .i promise you that.

You can't guarantee anything. I know this because you don't even know how the process works.
1st Step: Samsung completes update to be released.
2nd Step: T-Mobile checks it out, makes changes.
3rd Step: Over the air update.
Also check it out, if it goes on that website, it will be here, and you can flash it yourself.

It's so easy to flash? Eh whatever.
T-Mobile has probably already been working with Samsung, so that shouldn't take much time at all. For T-Mobile to roll out the updates (to everyone) will take probably around a week or so. (I don't know why they would delay unless they need to make changes.) Like say they start Monday, some people will receive Monday, Tuesday, etc, until everyone has it.
And yea, I'm not sure if samsungfirmwares.com is an "official" site. In fact I'm pretty sure it isn't. However, a stock rom for 2.1 wandered it's way onto their before, and I mean, the rom before t-mobile even put their hands on it. So who knows.
I say to everyone. Hope for this to be real, BUT! don't expect it.

I can guarantee you.....that you have no idea what you're talking about. I said it MAY be on tonight. If its not, then no biggie. If it is, then awesome. But unless you're working in samsung's mobile division and actually have a clue, I say good day to you sir, and stop being the pessimist of the forum.

Even if there is a OTA, you can manually push that update without waiting for the OTA as long as someone has the link for it. Just put it onto the root of your sdcard, rename to update.zip then boot into recovery and Reinstall Packages. Good to hear about this though, I'll stick to my idea by saying "I'll believe it when I see it" so I won't be disappointed if this is false. I'm hoping that it is true, but we all hoped the same about CM6 when that thread was made back in July because Gunnerman decided to post a thread about it to get people anticipated for it. (Not blaming anyone but it causes a panic in the community)

indeed lol i bricked my 2nd vibrant with the disabled keys now its stuck on the triangle screen. and there is no way out.. this sux

It is not even close to being an official site.
Samsung would never purchase such a domain name to use, and even use WordPress on top of that especially with a free, ugly theme.
I already knew this begin with weeks ago when this site started getting mentioned on here, but if this site were official. I would think that there would of been more 2.2 news and release dates to come with those news too. Like I said, if it were to have been official. Which I am not saying it ever would of been with such a domain name, and using WordPress.
One more thing to note, Samsung would also never create a site at Google Blogspot/Blogger. They seem to have actually hosting somewhere else now though (they did not weeks ago).

Hold down on volume. (Keep holding this until you get to download mode.)
Plug in USB and tap power button for a couple seconds.
Boom. There is no confirmed locked hardware. It is just difficult to time.

We will not see froyo on this device soon . I'm sure of it, just like the GPS fix will never come out either. It's completely hardware. How do I know? I bird told me so.

If anyone can help me out, I would greatly appreciate it. I think I spent about 5 hours trying to flash roms and all this and that yesterday and it drove me nuts. Im new to doing all of these things and I had success with most stuff. I went from AT&T 1.6 to O2 1.6, then O2 1.6 to O2 2.1 and thats where things got funny. I followed the upgrade/downgrade guide on here. I tried to go back to O2 1.6 and was successful using fastboot. Then when I tried to go from O2 1.6 to AT&T 1.6 (6601) it wouldnt go. I tried so many different times to do it and couldnt make it happen. It would get to the boot screen and say something like FOTA Mistmatch, rebooting in 30 seconds. It did that 3 times I tried doing it.
I have a feeling it has to do with getting Root Explorer (Which isnt free in the market) so I downloaded another app that allows you to change files on the rooted phone. I had the phone rooted as per the instructions but for the life of me I could never get it to flash back to AT&T 1.6. I just want the Official Rom back on this phone that I started with and im pulling my hair out trying to get this to work. I got so fed up yesterday, and went from the O2 2.1 straight to Froyo 2.2 via StreakSmarts directions and all of that worked. I just dont like the fact that I have a Rom or update on my phone that is not orignally AT&T. I get the "H" logo instead of the "3G" now and I mean everything works ok. Laggy as all hell, but it still all seems to work. Even got the Video 720p fix fastbooted on there, but for some reason Im still not satisfyed.
If anyone can please, Please help me get back to AT&T 1.6 (6601) I would really appreciate it so much. I just would rather upgrade to 2.2 once Dell pushes it through and stop flashing and messing with the phone, its caused me all extreme headachs and I dont feel right knowing I dropped $500 on this phone. Can anyone please help me?

Also, have you tried updating to official ATT 2.2? It is out there and can pretty painlessly be done using the qdl tool. Check out that tool on Streakdroid and watch the embedded tutorials in the guide section and you should be up and running in less than 10 mins!

Use the guide on that page. I followed it and went from at&t 1.6 to 2.2 then back to at&t 1.6. Worked like a charm. I did buy root explorer though to do that process. If you have another program that lets you copy files to the folders needed then you should be okay.
You know what? I just purchased Root Explorer not long ago while on 2.2 and the ease of that program is nice. The one I was using was some free one that just probably wasnt working properly. I glashed the 318 Froyo and I like it a lot better now. Its much smoother and faster then the last one. So Im gonna stick around on this for a while.
Although Im still really pissed off about the FFC not working with Fring or Tango.

I just wanted to say what a truly helpful and inspiring place this is. I just got this evo shift 4g with 2.3.3 upgrade about a month ago and was trying to figure out some shortcuts when I stumbled onto this site. I started reading the posts and started to learn a bit about android, what root, rom, kernel, sdk platform, adb, etc meant and one day I jumped in. From the instructions and other great info on this site in the last two weeks I have been able to temp root, downgrade hboot, perm root, upgrade hboot back to 2.3.3 install and use apps like clockworkmod, titanium back up and other stuff. I just wish there was something I could do about my phone signal and speed besides the proxy adjustments to 0. Oh yea I was also able to flash 1.08 radio back after downgrade, didn't seem to help much though. Anyway thanks for the great awakening into the world of android smart phones. Next I might think about some custom roms, kernels after I do some more research. You guys and gals on XDA are the best!!

Well guys I have been talking about this for some time now and have finally taken the time to redo the build scripts for cyanmobile to give us a tablet version. I have removed all the drivers and calls for the drivers of wimax, 3g, 1x, and cell service. This will still have bluetooth and wifi but none of the cell features will be present of usable. Phone and mms apps have been removed. I still have to go through the code and remove the options in the menu's but that wont be too hard (I hope).
Now on to the reason I am here. I am looking for users to help test out the new build. I need users who can give me good logs and detailed information about the issues that are happening. Also if you can use adb (push, pull, and shell are important) it will be a plus. Most fixes will require you to push files and set the permissions. This will keep the large uploads/downloads to a minimal and should help speed up the development time required to get this out to the rest of our faithful evo users.

Umm not sure what you are talking about here.
Update: I did the first build and it had massive issues and have not had a chance to get back and start working on it. Between the normal CyanMobile and my other projects PP is kind of on the back burner till I can get something else out of the oven so I have room for it.

Excuse my vaqueness I was half awake. I was talking about the HDMI stuff for cyan mobile. As far as this ROM I think the fellow members can be patient. I should have another EVO in about a week so I can help and test with whatever I can.
